" he informed Carter, " you've always said how much you love a good floral design." He couldn't help but grin at that, though he quickly forced himself to appear sincere. However, it was hard, especially when he could see the laughter in his friend's eyes. As the other man echoed Tim's 'meant to be' comment, Tim experienced a strange sensation - almost a cross between a knot and butterflies in his stomach. As often happened when the two of them were talking, he began to wonder if the entire conversation were some sort of metaphor for the actual, tangible relationship they shared. Unfortunately, Carter spoke again, forcing Tim to abandon that train of thought for the time being. He shrugged when his friend finished. " You always do what you want anyway," he pointed out with an easy smile, " I'm just figuring out the back-up plan." He was only half-joking; Carter was much more inclined to follow the back-up plan than the 'what any person in their right mind would do' plan. Not that Tim really minded, unless the thing Carter chose to do somehow put him (and others) in danger. He raised an eyebrow at the tell-tale blush in his friend's face, but didn't comment on it. Strangely enough, he was scared to know too much. " If anything, they'll love you too much, and that'll just turn out badly for everyone," Tim told Carter sulkily, though he was secretly proud of himself for having come up with such a convincing excuse. So what if they were talking about something completely imaginary? He could still be happy about getting the upper hand once in a while, couldn't he? He laughed as his friend exclaimed at the giant dwarf idea. " Yup," he replied to the man's words, though they hadn't exactly been a question. All the same, Tim's expression was clearly asking, 'how do I come up with this stuff?' Lightning-fast giant dwarves were among some of his more obscure imaginings, for sure. He shook his head at the thought of Mister Miyagi. " Yeah, he'd definitely admire us," he agreed sarcastically. He did one last karate chop for added effect, though it was just as terrible as his last attempt. Tim pretended to be offended when Carter called him morbid, though it was really the only time anyone had ever used the word to describe him, so he could hardly take it personally. " I'm not morbid! I mean, I'm not the one who watches those wierd thrasher movies, or whatever.." he argued, giving his friend a pointed glare. There had been a few incidents involving Carter's love of horror movies, which involved Tim squeezing his eyes shut, hiding his head and holding his hands over his ears for the entire duration of the film. On the rare occasion that he could actually be convinced to stay in the room. He absolutely hated scary films, and didn't care how many jokes about his supposed 'lack in manliness' that that could provoke. He rolled his eyes as the other man considered who he would 'off.' If he had to take a guess, he would've chosen Carter's dad as the main candidate. Hopefully his friend wouldn't do anything quite so drastic as murder the man. Tim let out a long sigh as his friend inserted yet another sexual joke into their otherwise perfectly fine conversation, looking up at the sky in apparent exasperation. " Really?" he stated finally, looking over at the man. He tried to appear as stern as possible, though he was quite obviously amused by the joke. " Yeah," Tim agreed, feeling a bit guilty for complaining about his mom's affection. He knew that Carter hardly had the same problems - in fact, his were the complete opposite. Fortunately, Tim's mom had somehow guessed this and treated his friend like her own child (actually, better than her own children - she actually let Carter get away with stuff, like extra helpings of ice cream and whatnot), but that still wouldn't make up for everything. As the man continued, Tim gave him a slightly horrified look, saying, " I don't think she'd actually eat you.." He was sure that, deep down, Carter's mom loved him a lot. She just didn't know how to show it, or something. He gave his friend a suprised look when he asked if Tim's complement had been 'a good thing.' " Of course it is!" he exclaimed. However, he didn't elaborate. As much as he loved Carter, he wasn't about to go off on some lovey-dovey tangent about how great the man was; that sort of thing was meant for romantic comedies, and romantic comedies only. At least, in his opinion. Tim raised his eyebrows, smirking as Carter kissed his hand. Alright, he officially felt like a princess - he had his castle, his feast, his giant bed, his hot tub, and.. well, his Prince Charming. It took him mere seconds to realize what a lame turn his thought processes had taken, and so defiantly forced himself to focus on the task at hand: finding the store. Which would probably involve walking around the city for a good hour without any luck, then returning to the hotel and finding something way better to do, anyway. Obviously, if he'd known what Carter was planning, he would have felt differently. Laser tag was probably Tim's most favourite sport as a kid. Things hadn't changed much since those days. " I guess it is a bit sad," he agreed with the other man's statement, though he was equally guilty of not appreciating this city. How many afternoons had he spent wasting away on campus when he could've come out here and explored? Well, now was a perfect opportunity to see a bit of Jacksonville. At Carter's next words, though, all thoughts of touring the city were chased from Tim's mind and he gaped at his friend. " What?" he asked after a moment, not sure if he'd heard right. A stripper pole? What on earth would they need that for? Tim nodded when Carter mentioned his guitar, still trying to wrap his mind around the whole 'stripper pole' idea. " Oh.." he replied in an attempt to act interested. Which he would have been, were he not preoccupied. " A stripper pole?" he repeated, scrunching his brow. Neither of them really brought girls back to the dorm. And Tim sure as hell wasn't about to start dancing on one of those things, no matter how persistent his friend might be. In his opinion, it'd be a complete waste of money, and was probably against school rules, anyway. When Carter mentioned fooling around with the guitar later, though, Tim nodded, warming to the idea. He could play the guitar as well, but he'd never owned one - he wasn't as dedicated as his friend, for one, and his family just didn't have the money. Besides, he much preferred listening to Carter play. " Sounds like a plan," he declared, keeping an eye out for the store. ooc; sorry it's so terrible Dx Friggin' computer. [/ul]

Carter had to grin as he listened to his friend pick on him about the old woman and the floral design she'd been wearing. "Oh shut it!" He laughed trying to cup his hand over his friends mouth as though to stop him from talking, but in all reality the man had most likely been done already, so instead of keeping his hand on the mans mouth for too long he withdrew it and put it at his side. "You should have asked for her number," He told him, the sad part being had he actually been handed her number he probably would have called just to continue with the joke. He smirked thinking about how that phone conversation would go as though he'd known the woman that Timothy had been talking about, "Oh yeah definitely should have gotten her number," He giggled some when his mind was wandering, nothing sexual of course because an older woman in floral really did nothing to turn him on. He happened to catch a glimpse of his friend as it seemed he'd been deep in thought about something, but since he was trying to wrap around his thoughts of the two being meant for each other he had no room left to wonder what'd been on Timothy's mind. Instead he figured it'd been one of those things that was better left unsaid, and so he continued when Timothy snapped back down to this conversation, "You're right about that, sadly." He always did what he wanted without thinking about others, it was one of his many flaws, "So I guess it's nice to have you around as that back up plan isn't it?" He smirked, again realizing that without Timothy he'd be nowhere.
"How would that be-" He stopped talking as though imagining what would happen had the dragons in the dungeon liked him more than Timothy. He could see the other turning the dwarfs and trolls on him or something, it'd be all out mythical dungeon war and Carter had a feeling he might not be so victorious. He smirked though as he knew he'd have the firepower, most dragons did breathe fire right? His smirk turned to a grin as he thought of that war that'd take place, of course it'd be hot to see his friend yielding a sword and probably some sort of armor, but as he started to get too into this fantasy he had to pull himself back to reality. With Carter his mind wandered so damn easily that if he'd gotten so into that fantasy he'd probably ignore the real thing standing right infront of him until he came out of that battle heroic. Even now as he was snapping back to reality he'd felt his hand starting to raise just slightly as though he was about to yell out a battle cry and charge the opponent with the sword held high in the air. He scratched his hand with the other to make it look less obvious that he'd been doing something entirely so lame, and with that he pushed the hand back down to his side. "Oh yeah, he'd see just a few of our moves and we'd be masters in no time." Okay so now he was thinking about star wars but weren't there masters in karate too? He thought now instead of holding a sword he'd be holding a lightsaber, oh those were so much fun when they lit up and had the realistic sounds. He would make a mental note and buy some of those at the store tonight, him and Timothy could have their own battle around the room.
Carter grinned proudly as he looked Timothy over for a second nodding, "You're damn right I watch all those thrasher movies, and want to know the best part?" He asked leaning in real close as though this had been a really big secret. "I remember you sticking around for a few of them, weren't they great?" Carter was not the type to push them on him though. He understood that the other had not been comfortable with them so he wasn't going to force him to watch. Instead he'd ask and on the rare occassion that his friend would stay he'd cuddle close to him and wrap his arm around him letting him be frightened near him while still enjoying the movie. It was the best of both worlds, first he'd had the chance to cuddle with the one man that makes living worthwhile, and secondly he'd gotten to watch a horror movie that he loved so much. "I'm sure I could still think of some sort of trouble to get into, of course i'd need a partner in crime if it were-" He stopped talking as he could not bring himself to go any further, and instead of saying anything he just blushed some (a true redish hue on his cheeks) and turned away for a second having gone too far with his thoughts and fantasies. He took a deep breathe to calm the idea of him and Timothy getting wild with the handcuffs that'd been rushing through his mind, and when he felt better he returned his attention to the other as though that moment just hadn't happened.
"Trust me, you don't know my mom." he rolled his eyes some thinking about the woman for another small bit, but soon his thoughts were more about Tim's mother and the angel she had been to him. Sometimes he wondered how Tim's mother would take the news if the two were to ever officially get together and become boyfriend and boyfriend. He wasn't sure if she'd be accepting just because of how close the two are together and how happy they seem to be while in each others company, or maybe she'd be sad and disappointed that Carter hadn't been a female that Tim could settle down with and start a family. He sighed for a moment, Timothy did deserve the chance to have children and Carter just couldn't give that to him. Carter's mind again went off on a tangent as he had to snap it back to reality, luckily the timing was alright because the two were rather quiet making their way to the elevators. Carter felt actions spoke louder than words as he took the mans hand and kissed it leading him out into the streets, and at moments like this when his love did shine through he knew that words would just ruin it. "We should come out one day and just take in the sights or something," He looked over hoping that the other would accept his offer. He was sure the two of them could have a blast just driving around looking at everything this city had to offer, and plus it'd give them time alone together and that was never a bad thing.
He laughed as he brought up the stripper pole and watched Tim's reaction, it being almost exactly what Carter had imagined it would be, and of course he couldn't keep from letting out a fit of giggles as people walked around them staring at the display of humor. "Oh you heard me, could you imagine my ass getting up there and dancing around after a few drinks?" Okay so he wasn't all that bad of a dancer but still it'd be something else to see him take a dance around the pole, "I was joking you know?" He laughed as his friend had obviously been baffled by what he had just said, so of course it was just like Carter to immediately put his friends mind at ease. "Good," He said simply squeezing the mans hand ever so much tighter as he took a deep breathe letting out a relaxing sigh as he looked around for the store. He had no idea where he was going honestly but he knew it had to be around there somewhere. "Here, how about we head down this way?" he asked as he saw a lot of people turning the corner and walking down another street of shops and stores. Carter, now that the two were out in public, hadn't been thinking about kissing and being so much affectionate with him now because his mind had so many other things going on around him, but of course each time he'd catch a glimpse of Timothy he couldn't help but feel his heart flutter.
ooc, it wasn't terrible at all <3 [/blockquote]

" Tim protested angrily, trying - and failing - to prevent Carter from covering his mouth. As his friend succeeded, he glared for a moment before laughing. " Well, she probably would've tried to run me over if I'd asked," he defended his failure to get the woman's number. She had been in a bit of a road rage mode, after all, and Tim - being perfectly sane - wasn't exactly willing to get in her way. No matter how sexy or floral she was. He gave the other man an apprehensive look, wondering what he was thinking of. Sometimes, he could read Carter perfectly. Others, however, he was at a complete loss. " ...Why? What would you have done?" he demanded. If they couldn't actually do it, they still had a theoretical option. Besides, Tim always felt guilty about prank-calling people and whatnot. What was the point of inturrupting people's lives just to entertain yourself? Isn't that what they'd built TV for? " Yeah, I'll say," he nodded, firmly accepting his title as 'backup plan.' Sure, it would've been nice to be plan A in most circumstances, but not where Carter was concerned. With Carter, plan A usually crashed and burned somewhere between the point he got drunk and the point he called for Tim to come save him. Tim had his response to Carter's imminent question on the tip of his tongue, but he didn't get the chance to present it, as his friend stopped abruptly in the middle of his sentence. Confused, he watched the entire battle play out on the other man's face like some sort of foreign, subtitle-less movie. Fortunately, even this small bit of entertainment was enough. He smiled slightly, taking the opportunity to stare blatantly at his friend without having to explain himself. When, finally, Carter had finished with his imaginings, Tim raised a questioning eyebrow, eyes flicking to the other's hands. " Should I ask?" he inquired, both curious and suspicious. He shrugged, deciding to give in to the idea of them becoming masters. " That sounds acceptable," he decided, still wishing he could understand his friend's thought processes. Tim frowned slightly as Carter began talking about thrasher movies, grimacing at the thought of what 'the best part' might be. " No," he answered hopefully, giving the other man a pleading look. Still, he knew that he was going to hear about it either way. Just like he'd been in the room for the movie either way. To tell the truth, there was no way Carter would have been able to convince him had Tim not known that there would be cuddling involved. Nothing felt safer than being scrunched up in his friend's arms as the unfortunate characters in the movies screamed, died, etc. " Well, at least you were there to protect me," he admitted, hoping he didn't sound too wimpy. He glanced down at the ground, scratching his arm. Of course, the awkward situation was only worsened as Carter continued speaking, and Tim looked up sharply, mouth gaping open with shock. " You've been watching too many pornos," he managed to choke out, not really sure how else one might react to such a statement. " Yeah, guess not," Tim agreed, not wanting to talk about Carter's parents too much, anyway. Doing so always seemed to dampen his friend's mood, and it always made Tim feel a bit uncomfortable. It was alright when his friend was venting, but when they were spending an evening just hanging around, it was best to leave the depressing subjects out of it. Tim grinned at Carter's idea, looking over at the man. " I was actually just thinking that," he admitted, laughing, " we've been here for months and we still don't know exactly where the store is. We're pretty much overdue for an adventure." He looked around them, eyes suddenly alight with the possibilities the city offered. There were hundreds of ways to amuse oneself here, from getting lost on purpose to exploring random shops, to visiting tourist attractions... they'd probably be able to spend an entire week exploring the place, given the opportunity. Of course, these considerations were cut short by the whole stripper pole fiasco. As soon as the words left Carter's mouth, Tim began imagining the ridiculous scene. He wasn't sure whether to laugh, scream, cry, or what. " We are not getting a stripper pole," he managed finally, holding his hands up defensively. Then, he shook his head. " Sick joke," he added, though he couldn't help grinning. He squeezed Carter's hand back - a sort of secret conversation between the two of them - smile widening. " This way it is," he relented, allowing himself to be pulled off in the direction of the crowds. The place was no New York, but it was still quite busy, and for once he felt a bit more at ease. Carter found it hard to cover the mans mouth when he'd been laughing so hard, so instead of keeping it up he let his hand drop and stopped laughing as though ultimately concerned with the fact that his best friend could get ran over. "She couldn't do that, not to you," He shook his head as though it were impossible for anyone to hurt Timothy in any way. That brought his mind to somewhat wander to each time that he personally had hurt him, sure none of them had been physical at all, but to Carter emotional cuts hurt just as badly as the real ones. Thinking about it had him start to rub his wrist as the sympathy pains started for a brief second. His friend seemed concerned as Carter watched him for a second staying silent to build the suspense, "I would have called her, what else do you do when you get someones number?" Carter would have talked about anything and everything, and sometimes when he'd just been joking around conversations on the phone could sneak past an hour. "She would have had a blast talking to me, could have been a highlight of her life." He smirked as though he'd been that important. He somewhat frowned when he thought of the words back-up though since he'd hated Timothy thinking that's all he'd been, but what could Carter say that'd keep his feelings still secret? He sighed, sometimes having to keep all of this stuff from his best friend was harder than hell, but it was something that needed to be done Carter'd thought therefore he suffered through it.
Carter had been so lost in his own thoughts that he hadn't even noticed Timothy staring at him, his eyes darting back and forth as though watching a tennis tournament. The only difference had been flaming wads of mud and stucks were being chucked instead of the usual regulation tennis balls. This game had been far more interesting though as it'd had potential to be dangerous. You could see the battle winding down in his mind as he started to pay attention to Tim once more, a smile forcing itself across his face. "I wouldn't," He chuckled when Tim had asked if he should ask. Sometimes his mind had been a scary place and having to explain himself just made it sound silly, but at least his friend had managed to understand Carter even through some of his more insane rants. "Let's just say it wasn't pretty, casualties on both sides, not something I want to witness ever again." He chuckled, he was sure that bit of information would give his friend the image that he'd been hoping for in his own mind. Carter nodded as a soft smile played across his lips lighting up his boyish face, acceptable had been a good choice of words.
Carter had seen the pleading look but it didn't phase him, but only because he wasn't going to start talking about the buckets of blood that would spill out of the screen during every movie. He was actually going to bring up something that'd been cute and worth remembering, so as he talked about having the other around he couldn't help but grin though of course he did still feel bad about practically torturing his friend when he did happen to stick around to watch them, or whatever you'd call it when he had his hands over his ears and was buried in carter's side. He chuckled, he'd thought it was so cute how Tim could get during the movies and sometimes he'd be so lost watching Tim that he'd literally forgotten about the movie and would only be reminded when he'd heard a scream. "Yeah because you know those TV monsters are really frightening huh?" He asked still grinning, usually after sitting through movies like that Carter would get him to lay with him for the night, and that'd meant that he could fall asleep right next to him, and those nights where the two shared the bed had been the times he'd gotten the best sleep. He gasped laughing as Tim accused him, "Porno? Me? Never!" okay so there had been those times that he'd been forwarded a link online and couldn't help but check it out, but he'd never watch one on their television because it'd be way too awkward if Tim had caught him.
At the word adventure Carter seemed to get very excited, "we haven't had just a Timmy Carter day have we in a while?" he remembered Tim's mother calling the days where Carter and Tim would just 'run away' from the world their Timmy Carter Days, his mothers voice ringing through Carter's ears as he just smiled at the thought. He loved the days that him and Tim could just get together and do absolutely nothing but explore and get into some sort of trouble, but it was never anything too serious since having Tim around had kept him grounded thankfully. "Oh yeah, way overdue!" He grinned just thinking about everything that the two of them could do together in this city. He wanted to bring Tim to the amusement park one day, but that would be another time just because it'd take their entire day so exploring would be out of the question. He frowned though hadn't been too serious when his friend pretty much told him straight up the stripper pole was not going to happen. He shrugged as though it'd been such a big loss when in fact he was alright with it not happening. "When have my jokes ever been clean?" Even Carter could not remember a time when it'd happened. He grinned as his friend let him easily guide him as he kept their bodies close not wanting to get lost in a crowd or anything. He looked over at Tim a few times wanting to say something to him, tell him that nights like this when it was just the two of them had been all he'd ever needed, and yet he couldn't think of anything as only a goofy little grin displayed itself. He was drunk on love, that's the only way he could explain the feeling he'd get and his actions around Timothy. Never with anyone else had he laughed so much over something as simple as a burnt piece of toast, the thought sending him into a fit of laughter again as he'd remembered that conversation from a couple of days ago. "You know i'd buy you the world if I could right?" Carter knew that Tim's fascination had not been with money but with the friendship itself, but Carter had seriously been so lost for words that the phrase just spoken seemed to be all he could muster, it giving a slight hint to true feelings though nothing if Tim wouldn't look too into it. " Tim claimed dramatically, glancing out over the city with a triumphant expression. The thought that Carter had hurt him crossed his mind, though he ignored it. He didn't want to get all upset again. Not when the night was going so well. Nervously, he waited for his friend to describe the phone call to him, well aware of the other man's tactic of building suspense. When, finally, Carter did speak, Tim rolled his eyes. " The woman was eighty-some years old. I'm pretty sure she's already experienced the highlight of her life," he decided philosophically. He couldn't even imagine what it would be like to have eighty years of life experience under your belt - how could a person hold so many memories? The whole thing was beyond him. As Carter sighed, Tim was about to ask him what was going on, but quickly thought better of it. Whatever it was, his friend would likely say, ' nothing,' and there would be an awkward silence. " Ah," Tim nodded, pretending to understand what his friend was talking about. He could make a fairly accurate guess - some sort of war, that much was obvious, likely in the dungeons they'd been talking about. And it had been bloody. " Who won?" he asked after a moment, eyes sparking with interest. A slow grin made its way across his face; he loved how Carter could just lose himself in his own imagination. It was probably one of his many favourite things about the man. He looked sullenly at the ground as his friend made fun of him for being such a wimp, though he hardly cared too much. It was just the way they worked: Carter was the careless one, Tim was the pansy, and neither was too desperate to change. " They are," he argued stubbornly, frowning a bit more, " the way they pop out of nowhere, just when you think everything's settled down... the way they kill everything in sight, and rip off people's heads, and gross shit like that.." He shuddered, unable to stop picturing the disgusting scene. In order to get some sort of hold on reality, he gripped the railing of the balcony. Tim grinned and shook his head when Carter claimed to 'never' watch pornos. He knew his friend wasn't as bad as some peope; not by a long shot. In fact, Tim had never outright caught him, though he was pretty sure the man must've seen a few at one time or another. It was just such a Carter thing to do. When Carter brought up their famed Timmy Carter Days, Tim couldn't help but laugh, remembering some of their earlier adventures. " Yeah!" he exclaimed excitedly, looking over at his friend with an enthusiastic expression, " we've got to do it at least once here. Otherwise, it won't have been worth it." In Tim's opinion, the two of them were going to Timmy Carter Day the world in the future. Provided this whole wierd love thing didn't blow up in their faces. Tim nodded sternly at Carter's apparent disappointment about the stripper pole. If his mother ever found out about that one, she probably wouldn't let him come back this year. At least, she wouldn't unless Carter begged, in which case she'd have to let her son return to New Jersey in the interest of being kind to his best friend. Tim smiled to himself, secretly adoring the antics of his mom. She really was something else. " Never," Tim answered the other's question, though he knew it wasn't required. He seemed to have a habit of doing just that. As they continued walking, Tim kept smiling, though it was more at being able to spend so much time with his friend. For a while, words didn't seem necessary; they just strode along in an easy silence until Tim glanced at Carter, catching the goofy grin right before the burst of laughter. He stopped, looking over at his friend with a slightly amused expression. " What?" he asked, grinning in spite of himself. At Carter's unexpected words, Tim slowed slightly, looking over at him once more. He could literally feel his heart beating in his throat, though he didn't know exactly why. After all, it hadn't been an admission of love. Just a statement, which could be taken any way at all, which could mean everything or nothing. But, looking into the other man's eyes, Tim could see a determined truth. He smiled, squeezing Carter's hand. " I know. But I wouldn't accept. I have everything I need already," he replied, almost willingly giving in to the perfection of the moment by taking a confident step toward his friend. Then, even though they were in the middle of a busy city, blocking the sidewalk, surrounded by God-knows-what sort of people, Tim kissed Carter. It was the kind of opportunity he couldn't pass up, though it was strange; he hardly ever initiated this. He'd probably only done it once before, actually, but it still felt undeniably right. It was a soft kiss, as could be expected, and it didn't last for an incriminating length of time, but it said everything Tim had wanted it to. Reluctantly, he pulled away, still unable to keep from smiling. " Now, let's find that store," he suggested. [/ul]

"Tougher stuff?" He grinned looking over at his friend trying to hold back laughter, but there had been a few faint giggles that had found their escape. He couldn't help it, the dramatic tone in his voice had been hilarious. Tim had always known just how to make Carter laugh, and that skill came in handy when he'd been down about something or other. "You're never too old for highlights," He told the other shaking his head. He had a feeling Timothy could been right though since she had been so old, but that didn't mean that she was done having fun for the rest of her time. "It'd tickle her fancy to think she'd gotten some young stud all hot under the collar when her ass wheeled by," He went and tucked his finger under his collar tugging at it some as though he'd been getting hot just thinking about it. He could pull his shirt off to show off his body, he could use the joke that he'd been getting so hot and had to take some clothes off to cool down, but instead decided against it as it'd be inappropriate. He of course clapped himself on the back in his mind knowing that he'd held off on doing something that usually he'd do without hesitation.
Carter nodded raising an eyebrow as he heard his friend ask the one question that brought a wide grin across his lips, "It was a draw," The fact that Tim could understand what was going on his mind without him having to say much had been amazing, but having him actually seem interested and ask follow up questions had made it damn near phenomenal. He couldn't take his mind off of Tim as he had this goofy grin on his face astonished that he'd care so much about the battle that had been raging in his mind. "That is what makes them so amazing," He told Tim feeling the need to defend his movies, but of course he never pushed them too much on the other knowing he'd felt uncomfortable. "They don't kill everything in sight. Somehow the virgins always seem to make it through," He smirked feeling the need to joke and tease with the man, this subject being somewhat taboo as Carter had never truly known the truth behind it. "So don't worry, you'd be safe. I'd be axed first thing," Not that Carter had been a whore, though the way he'd just said that made him sound like one, but he had slept with a few people in his time. It had mostly been drunken encounters though and nothing that he'd seriously want to remember. He watched the others grip tighten against the railing and he sighed some feeling bad as he picked his hand up and placed it ontop of Tim's. "You know i'd be able to kick all their asses." He chuckled as though he could be the one to save Timothy when he'd needed it. "If anything i'm the slower runner so you'll have time to get away while they're hacking me to pieces," He shrugged, if that is what needed to happen he'd do it just so his friend could get away.
Carter of course was glad that Tim let the porno conversation drop since it'd seemed somewhat awkward discussing things of such a graphic nature with someone as reserved as his friend. He did appreciate when his friend became rather excited when he'd brought up his mothers old saying, "At least, for sure!" He wished the two could explore each and every single day, but he knew that doing that would get in the way of school and that wouldn't be a good thing. The summer was coming up though, that thought bringing a grin to his face as he knew the two would have such a good time not having to worry about school all the damn time. "We will take a day, or maybe even a weekend, and explore the hell out of this place. We'll leave no stone unturned!" He proclaimed holding his hand up like he'd been a true explorer. "We'll know this place like the back of our hand," He picked his hand up still holding onto Tim's and looked at the back of it, "What the hell is that?" He asked picking his free hand up to rub off a smudge of pen he'd had there from doing some essay homework earlier. He laughed, "Okay so we'll know the city like you know the back of your hand," Carter couldn't help but laugh at how stupid he had just been, but luckily Tim didn't seem to mind and actually enjoyed the dork factor Carter possessed.
Carter could not stop himself from laughing though when he'd heard the what come from Timothy's mouth he quickly clamped his own mouth shut stopping his laughter as abruptly as he could. He grinned for a second and shrugged not knowing if he should tell him what had been so funny, or if he should just shrug it off and hope that Tim would move on with no problem. He thought about it and figured it wouldn't be so hard if he just told him straight up, "I was actually thinking about burnt toast right now," He grinned knowing it had sounded lame, but after he had said that outloud he burst out laughing again though could contain himself better this time around. "Nothing too important though," He brought the laughter down to just a minor chuckle as he looked over trying to gauge his friends reaction to the remark about the toast.
Carter hadn't even thought too much about it as he said those words to Tim, sometimes his heart and head would try to get ahead of one another and things would end up coming out that he'd rather stay hidden, and this just happened to be one of those times. Carter knew he had said something right when he could feel the slight squeeze on his hand signifying that Tim had heard what he had said, and that sent a warming feeling through his body as he couldn't help but grin. "Oh yeah?" He asked softly as he could feel the man taking a step closer as he looked over to see what Timothy had been doing so close beside him. He was a bit confused as he watched the actions, and if his confusion hadn't been bad enough already when Tim had stopped right in the middle of the busy street to kiss Carter his mind had raced all around as he'd had no idea what to do. He of course let his lips do the talking for him as he brushed them back against Tim's with just as much ease and softness. He did want to pull the man closer, but just as he'd went to move his free hand behind the others shoulders Tim pulled away and that'd been the end of that. Carter was left standing there completely clueless as he couldn't even hear his friend as he started to talk again, but he did feel him pull away as Carter had been astonished. "Wait," Carter reached out with his hand to grab ahold of Timothy's as he pulled him back turning him around so his lips could crash against the others, this time he'd felt the need to take charge, and the second their lips touched it'd felt like Carter had been standing on a cloud and the entire world had disappeared around them. His lips eagerly kept close to Tim's though he forced himself to pull away, "Wow," He said as though in shock as he stepped aside and had to clear his mind as he shoved his hands in his pocket. "Yup, better find that store soon."

" Tim grinned, puffing out his chest, " I'm quite macho. Tough. Like beef jerky. Hard to chew." He nodded in what he considered a very manly manner, then started giggling. He wasn't sure what it said about a person, when they couldn't even take themselves seriously, but he decided that it would have to be a good trait. Life was too short for anything else. He shook his head as Carter persistently spoke about persuing the elderly woman and finally gave up. " Alright, alright. If you really want to spice up her life, go ahead," he said, holding his hands up in defeat. He couldn't help but laugh at his friend's next words - particularily the whole 'tickle her fancy' bit. " Well, if you go around using phrases like 'young stud' and 'hot under the collar,' you'll fit right in with her crowd, anyway," he pointed out, imagining Carter surrounded by swooning old ladies. A smirk slid across his face. One day, they'd have to volunteer at a nursing home or something. " A draw? Nice. Though, it makes things a bit complicated on the political side of things.." Tim mused. His expression became thoughtful for a second, then relaxed as he figured out a way to solve the problem. " But, seeing as the Dungeons are places of endless possibility and mystical magic and whatnot, a draw will probably just mean happily ever after for everyone involved." He beamed triumphantly, not perturbed in the least by how seriously he'd been taking this part of the conversation. He rolled his eyes when Carter referred to the suspense, blood and gore of horror films as 'awesome.' Tim still couldn't understand why anyone would willingly frighten themselves.. unless they were doing it for his personal reason: the chance to spend a good hour and a half, at least, being held tightly by the person they loved. Aka, the wimp reason. He raised his eyebrows as the other man delved into the whole virgin thing, realizing that it was true. There was always that one character who'd never gotten any. Their lack of experience in bed was always the defining point of their personality, and always a minor plotline in the movie. And, after all havoc had been wreaked and a good part of the cast had been killed off, said virgin would lose said virginity in a miraculous moment of truth. Even the thought of it made him want to groan. However, instead, he burst into laughter as Carter continued speaking. " Bit full of yourself, hey?" he joked. He was fairly sure that his friend didn't have sex often enough to be the first to be axed. At least, he hoped. He blinked at the warmth of Carter's hand on top of his own, glancing over at the other and smiling slightly. " Good to know you've got my back in this," he replied gravely. Tim grinned, excited at the prospect of spending even more time with Carter. Despite the fact that they lived together (and, therefore, spent an awful lot of time together already), it was somehow different when they were actually doing things besides sitting around, watching TV. More real, maybe - more meaningful. Whatever the reason, Tim loved the prospect of exploring the city together. " Why didn't we do this months ago?" he asked. It seemed like the sort of thing they would've done immediately. " Not a single stone!" he echoed his friend's words, also pumping his fist to the sky. He burst into a fit of laughter as Carter inspected the back of his hand. God, he loved the man. Then, he looked at his own hand, squinting at it as if it were a map before glancing up once more. " Yeah, that works," he agreed. Then, after a moment, said, " I never really got that saying.. 'like the back of your hand.' I mean, really, does anyone actually know the back of their hand that well?" It was probably one of those ridiculous, non-sensical things. Tim gave Carter a puzzled look as the latter began laughing, not sure what all that was about. Knowing his friend, he'd probably been thinking about something dirty. Something Tim didn't particularily want to hear about. Needless to say, he was pleasantly surpised at Carter's actual answer, and allowed himself a grin. " About how much you hate it?" he asked, wondering if the man was remembering this from the other night or simply making it up on the spot. Probably a bit of both. If that made any sense. Judging from the amount of laughter his friend was currently indulging in, Carter was likely just high on life. " You're odd," Tim concluded, looking over at him affectionately. " Yeah," Tim replied, before pressing his lips against Carter's. He could feel the other's suprise giving away to something more tangible, though the kiss was too brief to really reveal anything. The moment he pulled away, he regretted it. As usual, he just wanted more. He wanted to be able to pour all the passion out of his heart and into their actual, real relationship - either through words or actions, he didn't care. He wanted to be able to tell Carter how much he loved him, every moment of every day, every time his friend said something that might make his heart leap. He wanted to know that all the romance between them wasn't simply in his head. Fortunately, Carter's voice pulled Tim from his preoccupation, and he turned slightly, wondering what had made his friend speak. The other man's movement was so unexpected that Tim didn't really realize what'd happened until their lips were, once again, locked. He responded easily to the more passionate kiss, smiling at his friend's need to take control. Entirely without thinking, Tim slid his arms around Carter's waist to rest on his lower back, no doubt fuelled by some instinctual desire to keep him close even after the kiss ended. Reluctantly, he allowed Carter to pull away. Still smirking, he appraised his friend, proud of himself for being worth a 'wow.' " Is that it?" he asked, continuing on as if nothing had happened. He pointed vaguely in the general direction of some lights, not even taking the time to see whether or not the store could be there. In order to get them moving again, he stepped forward slightly, waiting for Carter to follow. [/ul]

Carter wanted to just poke him square in the chest as though his finger were a needle that'd deflate that massive manly boost he'd been trying to pull off so hard, but instead he watched the antics honestly enjoying the good time that Timothy had been giving him. He quirked an eyebrow when he heard the manly man start to giggle, but he tried to keep calm as though just waiting for it to all finish playing out. Timothy could always be rather theatrical and sometimes Carter could lose himself in just simple movements and gestures that Tim would make. He grinned satisfied that Tim had finally given in to his wishes, but this entire conversation seemed pointless because he'd never had the number in question in the first place. Carter snapped his fingers in disappointment, "Damn, I guess i'll have to see about getting it next time," He knew the chances of them running into that same old woman were slim, nearly impossible that'd it would happen again. He made a mental note of both phrases, a slight giggle at the hot under the collar one just because it'd been so true for how Tim would get him on a daily basis, but of course he could not say that as he just nodded storing them in his memory bank.
"Political?" He asked bewildered and then thought about it for a minute, "Who needs politics when you're talking about dungeons and dragons and all that sorta crazy shit?" He asked, the swear just slipping out as it'd fallen from his lips so naturally. He listened to the term happily ever after and just smirked, sometimes he hadn't believed in the phrase since it hadn't came true for him, but he could not say anything that'd dash Tim's dreams of one. "When you're living in a dungeon is there even a such thing as happily ever after?" If Tim only knew the real significance of this conversation as their dorm coul be referred to as a dungeon, or at least that is what Carter had felt like when he looked at the bare walls and nasty window when he'd walked in on the first day. His own personal jailcell away from him, the thought brought a sigh to fall from his lips as he thought back, but soon he'd been smiling right back looking up at Tim. That was a great thing about having him around, if he'd ever been in a crummy mood he could just talk to him and his spirits would always be lifted. Now had been the time to puff out his chest like Timothy had before and he held it there for a second before caving in laughing, "Why wouldn't I be?" He asked at the full of himself question. "I'm a stud!" He expressed as he strutted around in a small circle. "Yeah, once i'm dead though you're on your own." He teased though it really hadn't been a laughing matter. He just couldn't help but find humor in this conversation.
Carter could see the excitement barreling over in Timothy as he watched him for a moment, and as he asked the 'why' question Carter had to think about it. What had the two of them done throughout the last few months when they could have been out seeing the sights and exploring the land? Drinking and living up the high school boarding school life, or at least that is what Carter had been doing while calling Timothy afterwards to come rescue him. That and he knew Timothy had his after school activities that he'd been involved in, but surely there could have been some time that the two could have designated to do some exploring? He frowned and shrugged not finding a good answer for the other male, "Because we're dumb?" He knew that hadn't been the best answer but it'd been all he could come up with. He'd be the first person to tell you that sometimes he'd been clueless and he wasn't the brightest crayon in the box, but when it came to street smarts he'd like to think he'd at least gotten a good handle on those. Around Tim all his common sense flew out the window though so sometimes it'd been hard for him to be practical. He giggled at not a single stone though and shrugged as though he couldn't believe it hadn't happened yet, "We're so behind!" He gave a horrified face to go along with the tone in his voice, "whatever shall we do?" He was having such a good time with this. Carter had been watching Tim inspect his hand when he'd been asked the puzzling question, and with that he furrowed his brows in deep concentration trying to find the perfect answer. "A secretary maybe?" He asked trying to be a wise ass, "I mean if she sits around typing all day all she'll be looking at is the back of her hand right?" He shrugged, okay so it had been funnier in his mind then when he'd said it outloud.
Carter nodded, "Hate doesn't begin to describe," He knew that if he continued with the sentence the two would be right back to where they had been the previous night, so instead of saying anything else he just shrugged. The burnt toast had been a priceless conversation between the two of them, but once on a rant Carter had a hard time pulling himself away from one. "You love it," He teased when he'd been called odd, "That's not the worst thing you could have called me," He knew that had been true but Tim had never been the man to try to hurt the others feelings. Instead he'd said the random cute little comments that'd always had Carter smiling, this one although aimed as a somewhat teasing insult had still made Carter feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Tim's kiss hadn't lasted nearly as long as he'd wanted it too, and even when Carter had taken charge his kiss hadn't been that long as well, but it happened and that is all that mattered as their lips parted for the second time in the matter of a minute or so. Who was really keeping time right? Carter could still feel the mans arms situated around his waist and he just smirked, his front teeth biting his bottom lip as he tried to slow his quickened heart rate down to normal. He knew what he had to do though as he pulled away feeling Tim's arms fall from his waist as he looked infront of them and then off in the direction Tim had motioned towards. He smirked still unable to form a single word, the wow being something he'd been rather embarassed about so he'd keep quiet for the next little bit, so instead of speaking he nodded and stepped forward following Tim. He knew that the two of them were probably getting quite a bit of stares for what had just happened, but that was nothing new to Carter and if anything he'd liked that so many people had witnessed it. Tim had stepped up and initiated a kiss and Carter couldn't be more thrilled, the reality of it all sinking in as it felt that his feet were leaving the ground and he was floating above. He could be so cheesy but who wouldn't when you were madly in love with your gorgeous best friend?
He could hear a group of children yelling and running up in the distance so he grinned as he took Tim's hand and nearly pulled him in the direction the growing noise had been coming from. Sure enough with another corner the store came into sight, a large toy store that kids were swarming around. "We're here, we're here! We made it!" He started jumping for joy as he let go of Tim's hand and started to run, "Try to catch me old man!" He called from behind as the inner child in him took control and Carter just giggled kicking off the ground harder to go faster towards the store. It didn't help that Tim ran for sport though since he'd always been faster than Carter, but it couldn't hurt to at least try to get away from him right? [/blockquote]

" Tim relented, knowing that their entire conversation hadn't actually been serious to begin with, and that they probably wouldn't ever come across that woman again, anyway. " Yeah, I figured that out after," he told Carter, waving off the whole 'politics' comment. As usual, he'd been thinking too much into things. Point was, everyone could be happy, and the rest would work itself out. He laughed and shook his head at the idea of 'happily ever after' not existing in the dungeon world. " Well, technically. Even dragons, and elves, and giant evil dwarves need to have something like that," he considered philosophically. He hadn't even considered the possibility of their conversation being about anything more than some fantastical, made-up world. Though, in his opinion, happy endings were basically a given. The only problem was that most people refused to acknowledge them, or take the necessary steps toward achieving them.. which brought his mind back to the subject of how he was in love with Carter, and should tell him, to take his own good advice. Unfortunately this was not the time, and he watched as his friend strode about, a humoured smile on his face. " Oh, yeah, totally. How could I have forgotten how hot your bod is?" he asked sarcastically, rolling his eyes. Then, as Carter brought up the dying thing again, he laughed. " Oh, crap. Why'd you have to go and be such a whore?" he pretended to be upset at the realization that the other man's bad habits would have negative side effects for himself. " I can't believe you'd just leave me like that. You suck," he pouted, as if dying had been Carter's choice all along. Tim grinned. Unfortunately, he would have to agree with his friend's simple statement - there really was no other explanation. " Probably," he sighed. Then, after a moment, added, " we should probably get our priorities straight." They would definitely have to explore the city before summer - his mom would freak out if she discovered that he'd basically spent his entire time on-campus. As Carter's tone became more dramatic, Tim allowed his expression to reflect his friend's, biting his fingernails for an added effect. " We're awful!" he exclaimed in horror, " we need to solve this problem as soon as possible!" He nodded in relief at the man's next idea, acting as if it had calmed him down immensely. Of course, on the inside, he was more confused than anything. After a moment, he gave Carter a puzzled look, having to ask: " you think so? Wouldn't she be more interested in what she was typing than what the back of her hand looked like?" He shrugged. " Then again, I'm not a secretary, so I wouldn't know." They would have to ask one sometime. " No, I guess it's not," Tim admitted, though he hadn't wanted to call Carter anything bad. In fact, he quite liked calling him things that could be taken badly, but which weren't really all to terrible. Besides, there weren't any truly awful words to describe Carter. He was too wonderful. Tim still felt that way as they continued walking, glad that his friend wouldn't be able to see the ridiculous smile currently plastered on his face. He literally would've skipped off down the street, given the chance. Actually, there was probably an obvious spring in his step right now... and if Carter saw it, so be it. Speaking of Carter... Tim turned, making sure his friend was following. Seeing the happy look on his friend's face, he grinned, subtly acknowledging how wonderful it had been to finally make physical contact again. If it had been possible, Tim would have loved Carter even more in that moment. As it was, he was simply ridiculously happy. " Where are we going?" he asked, glancing around as he was pulled in yet another random direction. As the rounded the corner, his face brightened in pleasant suprise, and he threw his free hand in the air. " The store!" he exclaimed unecessarily, sprinting off after Carter. To tell the honest truth, the two of them were more excited about the store than most of the kids there, and Tim didn't even know why they'd come yet. " I'm not an old man!" he yelled angrily, raising a fist and trying to run just a bit faster. Of course, he was entirely capable of catching up with the man. He just wanted to indulge in a bit of pre-shopping tag, was all. Haphazardly, he weaved through the people milling about, trying to keep sight of Carter. ooc sorry it's a bit messy. I'm tired XD [/ul]

Carter smirked looking over at Tim for a second before moving his eyesight somewhere else. He hadn't wanted to make it too obvious that he'd been staring pretty much, but he would admit there had been this goofy grin plastered on his face pretty much the entire time they'd been close together just talking about whatever came to their mind. Carter, when Tim had used the word technically, looked over with that curious expression of his and listened, "So you're telling me giant evil dwarves deserve to be happy and find their fairytale romance? Can you even be happy if you're evil?" He smirked now playing it out some, "And if they're happy while their evil i'd hate to see them when they're miserable," He physically shivered to make it look like he'd been scared of even the thought. "Fine, how about I leave it at everyone needing their happy endings, even if you're a dinky little elf or evil giant dwarf," He still found that humorous, what an oxymoron.
Although Timothy had been joking that still did not stop Carter from getting the hugest grin it seemed possible to spread across his face. He could only think of the compliment that he had just heard, "You can't, I swear it's going to be imprinted on your mind for the rest of your life. You're going to close your eyes each night and BAM, there I am." He chuckled though sometimes it'd be nice to think that he'd been on Tim's mind while he rested. He would not bring that up though as it might be a little weird to even think about, or maybe it'd just be weird to admit to had he been the one being asked, so not wanting to put Tim in that dilemna he kept his mouth shut. When Tim called him a whore Carter couldn't help but burst out in laughter as his eyes grew wider, and the pretend upset had been just too much as he found himself staring once more. Timothy knew how to have fun. That much was certain. "I suck? I'm the one getting hacked up to save your ass! I should be the hero!" He stepped back from that conversation in his own mind as he played it back in his mind and of course had to burst out into a wild fit of giggles. Did he seriously just say something like that? He shook his head disapproving of how lame he had been.
"Yes, I think we should do that," He tried to sound as serious as possible though it'd been hard right after he'd been laughing so hard moments ago. He pulled it off somewhat though as he could feel his mind starting to relax and stop racing. "I think this weekend we should just get out," He shrugged throwing the suggestion out there, and if his friend were to grab it an accept that'd be fantastic, but he wasn't going to beg him to hang out. He felt bad stealing his friend away all the time, sometimes he'd never even ask if the other had plans, so of course he'd feel upset if Timothy had made plans with someone else just so Carter would ruin them. Tim knew that he could say no to Carter though, or at least Carter had hoped he didn't feel obligated to spend all of his time with him. He had hoped the man wanted to be around him so much, but didn't moving out here pretty much make that loud and clear for Carter? "We should find one while on our journey and ask!" He had wondered how many secretaries would even be working on the weekend, but it didn't matter because Timothy did made a valid point. "Sometimes I think you're going to get sick of me, you know that?" He asked with a grin as he seemed to hog all of Tim's time. That is how he liked it though, just the two of them against the entire world.
Carter grinned as he heard Tim talking from behind him, "Come on!" He called as he picked up speed an started to jog through the people. He had a hard time looking back to see where Tim had been though since each time he took his eyes off of the path infront of him he'd bump into someone, and having a teenaged boy so stupidly excited for a toy store must have looked hilarious! "You back there?" He called and tried not to laugh when Timothy made comment about the old man insult, and luckily Carter could keep his laughter under control because if he'd started to laugh his breathe would cause him to slow down to a halt to catch itself. He had a feeling Timothy had been going easy on him as well as he hadn't caught up to him yet, but even if he'd known he was just being nice it still felt damn good to be up front. Usually he was trailing behind and having to call out like a baby for Timothy to slow down. "No, of course you're not! An old man would have caught me by now!" He teased feeling a small bit of laughter escape as he dodged between a group of people mouthing a quick sorry as he rushed right into one knocking them a few paces back. The man just gave Carter a quick insult and continued on his way, and with that Carter shrugged ducking around another group disappearing from Timothy just some as he made it to the door finally. "A-ha!" He grinned triumphantly as he stopped right at the door and turned to see Timothy, or at least he should have but the man hadn't been in sight. "Um, Tim?" He asked softly looking around, the child in him feeling really alone right now. [/blockquote]

" he asked finally, looking over at his friend, " what if the reason it was evil was because it was so upset - maybe no one ever accepted it, because it was always an outcast. You know, for being giant. Maybe all it needed was acceptance and love." He smiled to himself, quite content with this idea. " And, if they do enjoy being evil, well.." he paused, considering, " I don't know. I just don't know." He shook his head sadly, sighing. Carter's question had posed quite the dilemma, and Tim was only glad that he didn't have to make decisions about who deserved a happy ending, and who didn't. He stuck his tongue out as the other man gave in, then grinned almost without meaning to, unable to contain his adoration for his friend. " Dammit," Tim pretended to be upset at the prospect of seeing Carter every time he closed his eyes, though he knew it would hardly be a bad thing. It'd be even better to see the man every time he opened his eyes, too, but he wasn't about to reveal that secret just yet. " I'll never be rid of you," he groaned. However, in all honesty, he had sounded quite pleased with the prospect. He began giggling at his friend's apparent outrage, eyes flickering in amusement. " Well, if you're dying at the first opportunity, then you've already done a crap job of saving my ass!" he declared before another wave of laughter swept over him. For the time being, horror movies didn't sound quite so bad - in fact, they sounded downright ridiculous and predictable. This didn't mean Tim would go out and watch one at the first opportunity, of course, but he was a bit more accepting of their existence. Tim nodded, not really trusting himself to speak without laughing. This whole city was practically waiting to be Timmy-and-Carter'd, what with its current air of mystery and intrigue. It probably had a lot to offer, if you knew where to look. As their conversation continued, Tim managed to calm himself down enough to speak properly, though he was still obviously quite amused. " Definitely," he agreed, looking around them eagerly, " I still can't believe we've been here for so long without even thinking of exploring this place." He shook his head in disbelief. Probably, between the excitement at being in a new place, the ongoing struggle with homesickness, the whirlwind thoughts about his feelings for Carter and the general hectic quality of school, Tim had just forgotten about the simpler things. It was unthinkable. He made a mental note to stop worrying about everything so much - especially since school was slowly coming to an end. Why not have fun while they could? Tim raised an eyebrow at the other man's suggestion, gesturing at one of the office buildings. " So, we'll just walk on in, say 'hello, there, we were just wondering how well you knew the back of your hand, and be done with it?" he asked, clearly not too enthused by the idea. Mainly because he now had visions of security in his head. He didn't mention these to Carter though; knowing his friend, getting chased out of some hoity-toity company headquarters by a bunch of buff guys in black uniforms would fall into the 'good thing' category. At Carter's next words, Tim didn't even try to reveal his suprise. " Why would I ever get sick of you?!" he asked. He managed to insert a bit of sarcasm in his voice, just to keep the humerous mood going, though he really couldn't think of a single reason why he'd ever get tired of Carter. Even if he wasn't desperately in love with the man, he was still an awesome enough friend that Tim wouldn't want to ever push him out of his life. Tim scowled at the receding back of his friend. " I am coming!" he called back in a frusterated tone, clearly enjoying every minute of this mad dash through the throngs of people. He rolled his eyes at Carter's next question, replying with, " no, I'm not, you're just too darn fast for me." He was careful to avoid the use of swearwords around so many children. Not to mention, so many tired-looking mothers. If he'd learned anything from his own life back home, it was that one should never do anything to annoy a mother who was at the end of her rope. And, in toystores especially, mothers tended to reach their limits. " Excuse me," he smiled sweetly as he spun around another child-and-parent ensemble. " Nyah," he retorted to Carter, unable to think of a better comeback. Maybe he'd have to put on that last bit of speed, to beat his friend at the last moment.. or maybe, he could do something entirely more satisfying. In a couple of easy steps, he slid behind a row of shopping carts, looking up just in time to see Carter's confused look. With great skill, Tim crept around them, careful to crouch below the average height of the children as he came closer. His friend almost saw him, but he ducked behind a stroller at the last moment, muttering a quick apology to the startled mother. Then, as Carter turned away, Tim sprung past him, pulling the door open and stepping inside. " Winner!" he fist-pumped triumphantly before doing a little victory dance. It had been a bit of a dirty move, but hey - he deserved some sort of award for his stealthy actions. [/ul]

Carter's expression softened as he heard the man trying to make the dwarf sound human, or at least give him human emotions. "I could see where not getting accepted would be a problem, what if he got picked on at school or something right?" He cracked a grin though refused to laugh as Timothy had sounded genuinely concerned for the dwarf's happiness. "Maybe he was the shortest giant dwarf in class and the others picked on him or something," He shrugged as he thought it'd been extremely cute that Timothy was trying to piece together a solution. "All anyone really needs is acceptance and love," Carter shrugged, this part being honest and true as that is what he'd believed, "Well and water of course," He smirked as he couldn't help but joke a little with the man. His grin widened before he cracked up finally releasing the laughter from the pit of his stomach he'd been holding in for so long, "Being evil is great, who wouldn't enjoy it?" He asked of course doing nothing more than joking around. He rolled his eyes shaking his head at his friend when his tongue had been stuck out, "You're such a dork," he commented though it hadn't been a bad thing at all.
"Wow, way to make me feel better," He said with a sigh as though it'd hurt him to know that Timothy wouldn't want to see him when he'd close his eyes. "You know i'm gorgeous, don't fool yourself." He laughed trying to get past his friends obvious humour of a swear. "That's exactly how I want it to be!" He grinned proudly knowing that he'd never want Timothy to be away from him. He was going to be selfish with this man when it came right down to it, and he was not going to let anyone else get their hands on him. Not that he knew how he could do that since he'd been too damn afraid to just come right out and say something, but he was sure if the time came where he had to admit his feelings he could do it. Of course he'd need a little push, alright so he'd need a huge push but still it could happen. "Well, well-" He tried to think about it and grinned, "Fine, how about I last until about halfway through the movie? That gives us enough time to find a good hiding spot and they'll be close to unmasking the man at the end, so you'll just have to make it a little while after I get hacked up. How's that?" He of course could not see Tim doing that well in a horror movie just because he freightened easy. "How cool would it be to have a horror movie night where we designate someone as a killer and then have to run around campus getting hunted until we find the person!" He had loved the sound of that, and of course the gears in his head were turning as he'd already been starting to think about how to make that work.
Carter kicked a pebble as the two walked down the road and watched it as it skipped and struck someone in the back of the heel, but with their shoes they couldn't feel it and he watched as it just lay there as he passed. "Well we could have thought about it, to at least give us some credit right?" He grinned looking over at the other one. "You have to admit, coming to a school in the middle of a year is crazy, so maybe we were just so busy with work and stuff that we forgot about our explorations?" Okay so that was a lie as Carter couldn't help but crack up thinking that he'd just said he'd been busy with school work. Sure he did do work from time to time for his classes, but when it came right down to it you'd be more than likely to see him playing a guitar than writing out math problems, or anything that related to learning. That is just the person he was though as he honestly hadn't seen himself going to college, and with his wealth he knew he could skate by if he couldn't find himself a good job. He hated how he'd had such low expections of what his life was going to be like after graduation, but at least he'd had Tim in it to at least make it brighter. "That's exactly what we'd do!" He could see that Timothy hadn't honestly cared all that much about going right up to some secretary and asking that lame question, so instead he just grinned while shaking his head, "Or maybe we could just assume they at least know something or other about it, assumptions are so much easier." He hoped that'd make Tim at least a little happier to know he didn't have to go up to some random girl to ask the stupid question. "That's a simple one, because i'm crazy," He stuck his tongue out at the other in a childish manner before giving him a wink and pushing away from him.
Carter just wished that as he was running he could see his friend better. He would love to be watching him dart around people, of course hoping that he'd been doing a better job then Carter had been, but of course since he hadn't been made with a rearview mirror there was really nothing he could do about. All that he had to go on were his friends words, and even then when he'd been concentrating on moving forward Tim's voice could get lost in the crowd very easily. He did hear when Tim had called that he'd been too fast, that of course being a lie but it still had Carter grinning from ear to ear. "I'm like the roadrunner or something! BEEP BEEP!" He did his best impression and jumped up kicking his heels together, a trick that took him a while to learn without falling on his face, and with that he was back to dodging around people. That is until the door came into view and he slowed down expecting his friend to be right behind him, but instead when he turned he couldn't see a damn thing. He saw swarms of children and mothers with large bags, and who could forget all of the strollers and handbags that were all around? Carter was about to call Tim's name out when he heard the noise behind him as he jumped back turning to see Tim standing there with the door open, "How in the world?" he asked bewildered but that boyish grin planted itself back on his face as he'd realized that he hadn't lost his friend after all. "You know that was a very mean trick you just played on me, maybe i'm not going to want to buy this surprise anymore," He planted his hands on his sides and walked through the door as though he'd been angry that Tim had surprised him and won, especially since Carter had been so close to claiming victory.
He stepped inside the building and looked around at all the different aisles they could take, "This could take a while!" His mouth dropped open as though he'd been in some childhood heaven. He acted like a child most of the time though so places like this were amazing. "Come on, let's get one before they're sold out." He beckoned as he took hold of his friends hand and started to lead him around the store. He knew that what he had wanted would probably be there, it's not like it was a brand new toy only on shelves for a day or so, but still he was excited to buy it and get back to their suite so they could enjoy a nice game of lazer tag. That is if the toy had been any decent, if not they could just laugh about the lame attempts of enjoyment they'd gone through. [/blockquote]

" Tim nodded wistfully, feeling very sorry indeed for their fictional foe. " He might've had a rough childhood." He listened as Carter continued, grinning at his friend's heartfelt insights. It was both obscure and normal to be talking about something so meaningless in such a serious way, whereas they couldn't talk about important things at all. With a regretful look, Tim replied to the other man: " and so he left the world of the giant dwarves to take his anger out on the regular-sized dwarves, whom he knew would fear and therefore obey him." He sighed. Then, with a shake of his head, he added, " and that's the thing - if they'd only given him love, everything would've been fine." Really, how many problems could have been avoided if everyone just loved everyone else? It was ridiculous. It took Tim a moment to realize that this wasn't actually happening - that they were still talking about a mythical giant dwarf, rather than some real-life villian. He hurriedly wiped the worried look off his face, laughing as Carter mentioned the need for water. " Well, you know. Water and air are pretty important, too," he agreed, still grinning. He rolled his eyes, shaking his head at the idea of evil ever being good. " Maybe for some people," he decided, just to humour his friend. He stuck his tongue out when Carter called him a dork, though he wasn't about to complain; he loved being one. " No problem," Tim joked, pretending he'd taken Carter's thanks seriously. He couldn't help but grin, though, at the other man, to let him know it'd all been in good fun. As if he'd needed to indicate that. Most of the time, Carter could tell when Tim was joking, even if he was trying to be as subtle as possible. He sighed, pouting as his friend practically forced him to admit, " yeah, yeah, you're amazing, whatever." He raised a hand as if to brush his words away, hoping the gesture would distract Carter enough to keep him from noticing the blush crossing his face. Slowly, he nodded to his friend's suggestion, figuring it was the best he'd get. " Well, I suppose that would be a bit better..." he replied with a sigh. Though he knew, if the scenario were to ever play out in real life (knock on wood), he'd be the one jumping in death's way to save Carter. In fact, they'd probably both kill themselves trying to save each other - irony at its best. At the other man's next brilliant idea, Tim had come up with a response before Carter even finished speaking. " Only if I'm allowed to sit in the comfort of our dorm the entire time, with the door locked and the windows closed." Those were his conditions; too many horror films started out with simple 'let's pretend there's a terrible murderer on the loose' games. He wasn't interested in falling for such a stupid twist of fate. Tim's eyes followed the rock which Carter had kicked, then returned to his friend's face briefly before looking forward once more. He smiled slightly, though he wasn't sure why. Or, perhaps, he wasn't sure why not. " Sure," he agreed with a bit of a laugh, running a hand through his hair. He'd always had a bit of an awkward relationship with his hands and arms; he couldn't just let them hang at his sides all the time. He had to be doing something with them. Swinging them, tapping his fingers, fidgeting in general, or at least holding onto something, or putting his hands in his pockets. It was one of his more prominent quirks. He shrugged at Carter's ideas, figuring they made as much sense as any. " I guess you're right. It has been a bit crazy for the past few months," he agreed. Especially with the strange emotions which only seemed to have become more pronounced since their arrival. Between school, life and trying to figure out what to do with Carter, Tim hadn't had much time to think about other stuff. He smirked as his friend laughed, realizing how untrue the man's statement had been for himself. " Well, you know.. you've been just as busy avoiding school work as I've been actually doing it, so we're kind of even," he pointed out. He frowned at Carter's instant agreement with his idea about the secretary. Of course, Tim hadn't actually been serious about doing something so strange. He grinned in relief as the other man said they could just as easily assume. " That sounds like an excellent idea," he told him. He repressed a well-deserved groan at the other man's childish antics, though he could hardly complain - they were one of his favourite things about Carter. At Carter's imitation of the road runner, Tim immediately saw himself as the wily coyote... in his opinon, the roles had been mixed up, as he was obviously smarter than Carter. " You wish!" he called after him as he ducked and dove around people. At the look of shock in his friends face at the realization of his epic success, Tim put on a wild grin, laughing freely. " Skills, mate, skills!" he claimed gleefully. It seemed that, the closer they'd gotten to the toy store, the more immature they'd become. And now that they were here.. well, Tim was quite prepared to leave his imminent adulthood at the door and return to a place of childhood dreams and desires. Which was why, instead of begging for Carter's forgiveness, he crossed his arms tightly over his chest and offered one of his best scowls. " You're just mad 'cause you lost," he claimed, stalking off after the other, " and like I said earlier - you're too excited about this suprise to not get it." Tim's expression of awe matched Carter's almost exactly as he stared into the vast selection of toys. They literally had everything imagineable here: dolls, trucks, bicycles, inflatable pools, inflatable balls, inflatable dinosaurs, toy trains, those funky little-kid cars... it was amazing. Instantly, Tim's excitement level rose considerably. He took Carter's hand firmly in his own, feeling that if they weren't somehow connected, they might manage to lose each other forever in the endless aisles of stuff. As they made their way past every product imaginable, Tim could only gape in awe. " Screw exploring Jacksonville... can we just explore this store?" he asked, after a while. If he wanted Carter to waste his millions anywhere, it would be in this place. [/ul]

Carter kept a straight face though he found it hilarious that the two were discussing the rough childhood of a fictional giant dwarf, but then again when didn't they get together and have the most random of conversations? There were a few times that the two had managed to pull off a normal serious conversation, but even then it'd get turned it something absolutely bizarre. Carter couldn't explain why it always happened, but then again if it'd been serious all of the time he'd be nothing more than bored. "What an ass," He shook his head with a sigh feeling bad for the regular-sized dwarves that the giant came to pester. He could see it happening though as a grin grew on his face, "Love, yeah that could tame even the wildest of beasts," That grin stayed plastered on his face somewhat longer than it should have, it'd made him go from feeling normal to somewhat creepy, so not wanting to freak his friend out with his obviously weird expression it dropped from his lips. "Food, food too." He moved on laughing at himself, how could just random grinning be considered creepy? He seriously had no idea what to do with himself sometimes, Carter was just overly awkward.
Carter watched the pout but grinned as he'd heard Timothy tell him how amazing he'd been, "You're damn right," He was proud to have gotten that out of Tim, even if he'd thought it'd all been in good fun. He laughed as he watched his friends hand motions, of course not seeing the blush luckily or his cheeks might have flushed as well, sympathy blushing he'd called it though it'd been for his own reasons other than sympathy of course. "How about this then, i'll try to last as long as I possibly can in the movie and maybe we'll be there until the end?" He grinned hoping this would make his friend feel even better. Carter had never wanted to be one of the off'ed ones in a horror movie, it'd make him seem lame, and he'd like to think that he'd at least been smart enough to stay alive in a game of wits with some insane psycho killer. "How would that be any fun?" He asked curiously looking over at Tim, "You could stick around me and we could even be the heroes in the end!" He grinned thinking about Carter punching the random person to the ground and Timothy leaning over him to unmask them seeing who it was. Of course his punches probably wouldn't be enough to knock someone out cold enough so Tim would get that close, but in his mind he could do whatever the hell he'd wanted so it worked out.
Carter nodded glad that Timothy understood and agreed with him that it had been crazy over the past few weeks, but each knew that it was for different reasons than the other. Carter, he'd been working on the social aspect and building his fun loving party reputation, and surely Timothy had focused on the academics aspect paving his way for a bright future with high marks. "Our grades aren't going to be so even though," Carter scrunched his nose some not wanting to imagine what his final marks for classes were going to be. He had hoped the teachers went easy on him, but even if they didn't he hoped his marks would at least be passing. He'd hate to have to spend an extra year in school without Timothy, and he was sure his friend wouldn't fail just to stick around him. Carter knew he could pass though, when he put his mind to the work it usually came out alright, but it was just hard concentrating in this new city spending all of his spare time in his dorm sleeping so closely next to his best friend each night. "It's not that i'm avoiding it anyway, more like putting it off? Wait, those are pretty much the same thing aren't they? Damn, I think I need to pay better attention to my english teacher," He teased lightening the mood as he really didn't want to talk about school work, not on a night like this.
Carter found himself laughing as he ducked and dodged around the people as he had completely lost track of Timothy, but when he'd been faced with him at the door that look of excitement fell only momentarily to make it look like he'd been upset with the trickery. It was quite the opposite though when it came right down to it, if anything he'd been mad at himself for not thinking of such an awesome plan. He giggled thinking about what it'd looked like if both tried to sneak to the door, oh the glances and disapproving looks the two were bound to get if that had happened. He knew he acted childish, a lot more than most people his age, but it wasn't something that embarassed him and he didn't see himself changing anytime soon. He was a child at heart and would probably be his entire life, and that was something that others were going to have to accept since he'd been proud to have that personality trait. "Skills? Oh i'm sorry, I didn't think that cheating was a skill, silly me," He winked not mad at the other as he smirked as he passed him and stepped into the store, "Mad that I lost? Nah, more like mad I didn't think of doing that!" He made sure Tim knew he'd been jealous of such technique. "Yeah, yeah, yeah," He waved his hands as though it'd been no big deal.
Carter had almost forgotten about Tim standing beside him as their expressions were probably humorous to those around, but at this moment Carter had blocked the people from his mind as it'd been just him and the toys. If the store wasn't so crowded he would have charged to a group of toys and plop down to play with them, well depending on what they were. He'd always been a fan of legos and other building toys, but when he noticed the small cars built for toddlers he smirked. He was so going to have to try to ride one. He knew the weight restrictions but did that matter? Well somewhat, depending on the 'make' of the car he might not even fit. he sighed as he took hold of Tim's hand coming back to reality as he started to walk, "You just read my mind," He could feel the firm grip from Tim and just grinned as he made his way over towards the toys for little boys, that's where he figured what he wanted would be. " he added his own agreement to Carter's insult, " I think we need to go to the dungeons and show him a thing or two about friendship and harmony." He managed to speak the last bit with conviction, donning a determined expression. By the time they were done with the cruel creature, he'd be as harmless to the smaller dwarves as a blade of grass was to an elephant. At his friend's strange, goofy smile, Tim raised an eyebrow. He was, of course, used to this sort of unusual behaviour, but once in a while he had to acknowledge the other man's abnormalities. At least he looked happy, though. Tim nodded as Carter mentioned food. He'd been thinking the exact same thing, actually, but his friend had beat him to it. " What is it...? Two weeks without food, three days without water, four minutes without air, then you're dead? And if no one ever gave you love, you were never alive in the first place? Something cheesy like that," he shook his head, trying to remember the little inspirational rhyme. He'd never paid particular attention to those things - he didn't even know why he'd felt the need to bring one into conversation now. Tim laughed along with Carter, easily hiding just how amazing he found the other man to be. Even when his friend went and did things to offend or annoy him, Tim couldn't ever really think of him in a bad way. His thought processes were more along the lines of 'I'm pissed off at this wonderful person who just happens to make a lot of mistakes.' Maybe, one day, he would work up the nerve to actually blame Carter entirely, but for now he felt that it was mostly his own fault for pushing things even though he knew how they would end. He nodded gravely at the other man's offer of compromise, figuring it was the best he would get. " I guess that'll do..." he sighed, glancing at his friends face in a borderline-accepting way. In truth, if Tim ever found himself in a horror movie, he'd run as quickly as he could in the other direction. Taking Carter with him, of course, even if he had to drug him or knock him out to do it (because, knowing Carter, he'd want to stick around for the thrill). He gave his friend a dubious look at the idea of actually participating in such a scary game. " Okay, well, howabout I hide until only you and the killer are left, and then I'll come just as you're about to die, save your sorry ass, and claim victory?" he suggested, grinning slightly in spite of himself. Or maybe he would be the killer; that way, he wouldn't have to worry about dying until the very end. " No, no they won't," Tim agreed, rolling his eyes at Carter's lack of comittment to his school work. He had offered to help with things a few times, but other stuff always seemed to come up. For a moment, he felt guilty about how little time the two of them had actually spent together since coming to New Jersey, even though it really wasn't either of their fault. Kindly, he gave Carter a smile. " At least you're passing, though," he added optimistically. He couldn't imagine what it would be like if his friend had had to re-do a year of school. Fortunately, he wouldn't have to find out. He laughed at the other man's lame attempt to think up an excuse for his less-than-satisfactory marks. " You need to pay better attention to all of your teachers," he pointed out, though he wasn't trying to berate the other. For some reason, he couldn't imagine a world in which Carter actually worked hard in school - he had different talents. Tim stuck his tongue out at his friend's words, not caring that he looked completely immature doing so. Most people grew up too fast, anyway. Personally, he wanted to hang onto his childhood. " It's not cheating! It's stealthy thinking!" he protested as they made their way into the world of toys. The aisles seemed to go on forever; he couldn't even imagine what sort of stuff might be available to them. Or what sort of stuff Carter was going to get, for that matter. He laughed when his friend admitted that he was jealous of Tim's brilliance. " Yeah, I'm pretty genius," he told him cockily before chuckling once more. As usual, he allowed Carter to take his hand, feeling very much like they should be skipping off on their great adventure. He still wanted desperately to know what his friend's idea was, though he knew that, were he patient, he would find out soon enough. Hopefully, it would be just as awesome as the other man was making it out to be. ooc AHH! SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG! D: I had a wierd writers block for a bit there. Also, I had dirty thoughts at the "toys for little boys" part :/ [/ul]
