There she went again, masking herself. It was like Meribah thought her sole purpose in life was to eternally keep her façade going. Whatever. It didn’t matter; Mikey would probably end up getting what he wanted, no matter what mood she was hiding.
Mikey accepted her hand into his without comment. He sort of liked it. It was something a couple would do, and while Mikey didn’t specifically want a relationship, sometimes it was nice to have the perks of being in one.
“Have I been smoking?” Mikey looked at Meribah with a devious grin. “Find out.” A dare. Would she challenge him? Truthfully, Meribah probably already knew the answer. Mikey had very rarely gone a day without smoking in the past year or two. He knew Meribah hated it, so he tried not to do it around her, but he definitely made it clear that it was a favorite habit of his. He lightly blew in her face, knowing she would dislike it. Meribah was fun to test boundaries with, even more so than other people. Mikey never knew what was going to happen, which of course made everything more exciting.
“Where are we going, anyways?” Mikey asked, glancing over at her. What was there for them to do here together? He’d end up following her lead, though, like he always did. The relationship between Mikey and Meribah was an odd one, but whatever it was, it was usually not Mikey calling the shots.
