Arabella got out her friends car and walked into Starbucks. She had to hurry because her friend had to be home soon. She looked at the long line and exhaled. This would take forever. Arabella brushed her hair out of her face. She hated waiting for coffee, but she wanted it. She started doing this to keep her busy. Playing with her nails, tapping her foot, bouncing on her toes. She was doing it so much that she didn't notice the weird looks people around her were giving. She didn't even realize that she looked like an impatient 5 year old. Finally getting to the registered she quickly ordered her usual.
She stood off to the side, watching as the made her drink. She inhaled deeply and exhaled quickly. She didn't want to seem like she was rushing them, but she had to get out of there before her friend left her. That was the only bad thing about not being able to drive. Everyone had to drive her places and she had to go on their schedule. She grabbed her coffee and quickly turned around, her mind focused on leaving. Arabella was so focused that she didn't see the guy order and the guy stand behind her to get his drink. She ran smack into him. Spilling her coffee on both on them. "Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry !"

Josh had always hated coffee. It was never good to him, but today a classmate had asked him to join them for coffee. He didn't want any, but had offered to stand in line for the classmate. Josh rolled his eyes at the girl standing in front of him. She seemed so impatient. She was so short and looked like she shouldn't even be drinking coffee. She looked like she was about seven. He watched her order quickly and then quickly ordered right after her, jumping to the side behind her.
Josh was about to reach over her to grab the drink, when she ran right into him. He felt the hot liquid burn his skin. "Shit!" He cried out, pulling the shirt off his skin. "Gosh!" He looked at her as she apologized quickly.

Arabella jumped a little as he screamed out. She knew he wasn't yelling directly at her, but it seemed like it. She bit her bottom lip. Her face turning bloodshot red from embarrassment. She was speechless not knowing what to say after apologizing. She didn't want to make what she did worse. "Are you okay?" She asked watching him hold his shirt out. She turned and sat her now empty cup on the counter and grabbed some napkins. "Here, lemme help you."
Of course, Arabella knew using napkins to soak up steaming hot coffee off his shirt was not gonna take away the pain he had just felt or really help at all, but she did it anyway. She lightly dabbed napkins on his shirt then looked up at him, emabarrassed. "I'm sorry. This really isn't helping any." She looked at him, waiting for him to say something. "I'm so sorry." She apologized again.

Josh watched as she jumped. He had actually scared her. He watched her fumble for words. She was definitely nervous. "It's okay. I'm fine." He said as she started grabbing napkins. He didn't want this to get awkward. Josh sort of moved as she she grabbed his shirt and started wiping it with napkins. "Look, stop. You're only making it worse." He snapped, not realizing how rude he sounded.
Josh noticed her embarrassment as she apologized again. He rolled his eyes and held out his hand. "Here, get up." He looked around the crowded room. "It's okay. You're fine. I'll even buy you a new cup of...whatever you had." He smiled, politely. "No biggie, okay? I have more shirts and this wasn't my favorite." He pointed to the shirt and shrugged. "I can wash it anyway."

Arabella exhaled. She knew it would get worse when she got on her knees to clean his shirt. She noticed he sort of jumped back when she reached for his shirt. When he snapped on her, she stopped and looked at him. She wanted to cry out in embarrassment. Arabella felt her cheeks get hot as tears formed in her eyes. She hoped he wouldn't notice. "I'm really sorry." Arabella paused, touching her burning cheeks. She looked down and away to avoid awkward eye contact. "This is so embarrassing..."
Arabella realized she was on her knees about to cry in front of a guy she never met before. She inhaled deeply and took his offered hand. "Thank you." She said softly. She wiped tears out her eyes. She let a smile come on her face when he smiled at her. Maybe he wasn't so bad. "No...i'll pay for it. You stain it you bought it, right?" She nervously laughed at her own stupid joke.

Josh looked at the girl after he had been a bit too mean. Was she about to cry? "Woah...you okay? It's okay. Just a shirt." He watched as her cheeks got red with embarrassment. He looked around the crowded area. "Please don't cry...I don't know how to deal with that. Girls don't really cry around me much, except my sisters."
After helping her up, he watched her wipe her eyes. "Look, don't even worry about it. Hey, can you make her another one...my treat." He looked at her. "You look like you need a hug?" He smiled at her and opened his arms to her.

I'm not gonna cry, Arabella thought to herself. She inhaled and looked at him. "I'm fine..." She said, standing. She felt so stupid to let her emotions get the best of her. She sighed. "You must think I'm really stupid...me crying and all." She quickly looked towards him then away. Arabella had always been one of those girls that cried a lot. She never quite knew to control her emotions well. She was basically a water bucket.
"No." She said suddenly. "Don't worry about it...really." She cleared her throat realizing she was kind of loud. She shook her head and looked at him. "I'll get my own..." She looked at him as he offered a hug. She didn't want to be rude. But she didn't know this guy either. It was just a hug though...what wrong could come of it. She smiled and hugged him. Breathing in deeply, she got a whiff of his scent. He smelled amazing. Like a summer's breeze by the ocean. It was fresh and not to strong. Arabella wasn't used to this scent. She stepped back and smiled. "Thanks. I needed that." Her smile faded and her eyes became big. "Oh my God! I know she's left me!"

Josh looked at the girl. "Alright...sure." He cleared his throat right before she started talking. "I don't think you're stupid...I have sisters that cry. I'd just rather they not...you know?" Josh had never been good with crying girls. He had never been good with emotions period. Anytime his sister, Charlie, cried he kinda did the whole slight pat on the back thing and told her to stop crying for whatever reason she was crying. It never worked, of course. Girls, never really listened.
"I'm not poor miss...I can buy you a coffee. Trust me." He smiled at her. As she hugged him, he smelled flowers. "You smell good." He cleared his throat, hoping she didn't hear what he said. He nodded as she apologized, smiling. Josh shoved his hands in his pockets. He looked at her, an eyebrow raised. "Who left you?"

Arabella swallowed. She was sure there was a lump in her throat now. She cleared her throat. "I don't really understand...I'm an only child." She half smiled. "But I think I get where you're coming from...I don't like seeing my best friend's cry. If that even counts as the same thing." She rarely saw any of her friends cry except over guys. Arabella was the cry baby of the group. She cried when she saw dead birds and things other people would just think was stupid. She could never actually control her emotions.
Arabella raised an eye brow as he called her miss. "I'm Arabella." She blurted. "I mean I noticed you called me miss. So I decided to tell you my name." She paused. She looked at him and cleared her throat. "I mean I realized we never introduced ourselves. So...what's your name?" She paused again and looked around the crowded area. Arabella exhaled deeply. "And I wasn't saying you were poor. Just so you know." She stopped short again. "I'm babbling. Um...just...sure. Go ahead. I ordered a venti cappacino. Vanilla." She watched him shove in hands in his pockets. "My friend. My ride. Danielle. She had to be home and this. This happened and I know she left." She ran her hands down her face.

Josh laughed. "I don't know what I'd do if I were an only child." He noticed her try to smile. Probably a way of being polite. He smiled at her. "Sure...it probably is the same thing. It's seeing someone you love cry and it sucks." He laughed at little and looked at her. She was a really pretty girl. Brunette and blonde with bluish gray/brown eyes. She was hot.
"Arabella...that's pretty." He smiled as she kept talking. He was relieved when he realized she hadn't noticed he said she smelt good. He laughed. He put his hand on his chest. "I'm Josh." He smiled. "And your babbling is okay. It's cute actually. You nervous or something?" He ordered her another drink and turned back to her. "It's okay. I can take you home...just lemme take this to my friend." He picked up the drink and showed it to her. "Be right back." He winked at her.
