Dani’s outward appearance does somewhat represent her personality, she favors dark clothing which represents her insecurity with her physical appearance, yet shes she always adds a splash of color to her outfit, which represents her talkative, fun side. She’s a bit of a tomboy and of course a lesbian, yet she still dresses in the way you would expect a teenage girl to dress. She’s fussy when it comes to clothes though, if she does not feel comfortable wearing something, she won’t wear it, as simple as that. She does wear high heels on occasion, even sometimes to school; she loves the fact that they give the illusion of height, since she’s not a very tall girl and likes being able to look someone in the eye.
Green. The color of her eyes, eyes that many girls envy as well as fear. The expression ‘if looks could kill’ is the first thing that comes to mind when Dani is staring at you when she’s in a bad mood or if she doesn’t like you. But when Dani is in no mood in particular or in a happy mood, her eyes are soft and welcoming. As for her hair, well that’s something Dani gets easily bored with, her hair color is usually a deep chocolate brown, but when boredom strikes she usually dies is black , she has also died it blonde a couple of times. With all this coloring one would think her hair would be in a very bad condition, but thanks to Dani’s weekly hair care routine it look very natural and healthy, most of the time.
Dani isn't a huge fan of make-up, but she does use a bit every now and then to hide old scars. Scars are something Dani has quite a few off, she tells people they were as a result from ‘clumsy moments’, but whoever believes that story must be daft. The scars were intentional, but only some are self-inflicted and are a reminder of her past and what she has to be thankful for.

Dani loves having conversations, getting to know other people and having a good laugh. School is her home her house is her prison. Unlike most teenagers, Dani prefers being at school rather than being at home. She spends most of her after school time in town, at the library or on some kind of extra curricular activities and tries to delay going home for as long as possible, home just reminds her of every bad thing that has even happened to her. Even though she’s a talkative girl, she’d never talk about her past, unless she really trusted you, which is a rare thing for Dani, especially if you're a guy. Her trust issues stems from the emotional abuse she went through and of course the physical abuse contributes a lot to it too. She has a much easier time trusting girls than guys.

Dani tries hiding her insecurities from the world, and she's pretty good at it too, but the more you get to know her the more obvious it gets. For example, Dani finds it hard to accept compliments, if you tell her outfit is nice she’d reply “You can dress a monkey in a nice outfit too…” she always seems to think that people only compliment her to get something from her, or just because they’re trying to be nice. She is totally oblivious to the fact that’s she’s a stunning girl, this is because she was told differently almost everyday for the first fifteen years of her life. Unfortunately you can’t choose your parents.
Her insecurities also gets in the way of her having a healthy relationship with someone, as soon as she starts getting really close to someone she pulls out, thinking she’s not good enough and afraid of getting hurt. She has a lot of flings, but has never had anything more… Not yet anyway.

Dani was born in a middle-class area of Chicago, IL; she is an only child and prefers it that way. Her father, Michael Kingsley, is the scum of the earth and she wouldn’t want any other child to be treated like he treated her for the first sixteen years of her life. Michael is a type A alcoholic, there isn't day that goes by without him having too much to drink, but Dani got used to it over the years. Michael started physically abusing Dani when she was six years old, and did it every other day for ten years. He is a extremely controlling and possessive person and wouldn't allow his wife to do anything without him giving her permission, he was in control of the house’s finances, even the money his wife earned. He also enjoys breaking a person’s self-confidence down, and was very good with it as well. Both Dani and her mother are very insecure about their physical features, due to his emotional abuse, he made a point of telling them how ugly and unattractive they are every day, knowing that the more insecure they are, the smaller the chance is that they’ll have the courage to get themselves away from him.
Michael started sexually abusing Dani when she turned eleven years old and systematically broke down her self-confidence, Dani started believing everything he said about her, he made it almost impossible for her to have a normal relationship with someone. Dani never told her mother or anyone else about the sexual abuse, because her father threatened to kill them if she ever told anyone. Dani never spoke about the physical or emotional abuse either, in the fear of what her father might do, or what the people might think about her. Over the years, she had started to think that she deserved the beatings she got, that it was her fault whenever her father lost his temper.
Dani’s mother, Elizebeth Kingsley, has gone through the exact same physical and emotional abuse, even before Dani was born. When she first got to know Dani’s father, he was a very nice man, but after she wrote off her family, who warned her about Michael, and married him, he changed for the worst and she felt stuck. After having Dani, Elizebeth tried her best to protect her daughter from abuse, but it didn’t help, when she tried defending Dani, Michael would just beat her and move on to Dani. After a while Elizebeth just watched and helped Dani afterward.
Dani found way s over the years, to avoid beatings, since the fifth grade she would stay away from home after school as long as she possibly could. She would go to the Animal shelter and help out most days after school, and does to this very day. This is where Dani discovered her love for animals, and decided that she wanted to be a veterinarian one day. She would also spend a lot of time I n town, just wondering through the streets, meeting new people and making conversation. She also spent a lot of time in the library, working on her schoolwork and reading books, which is why she has reasonably good marks in all of her subjects. On weekends, Dani would some days go to the park and feed the birds, hang out with the few friends she had, anything was better than going home. She did worry about her mother being home alone, having to deal with her father, but she also resents her mother in a way, for not trying to get them out of their situation.
Dani started having feelings towards the same sex when she was eight years old, of course back then she had no idea that you called it being gay, or what being gay meant. It was only when she was around twelve that she discovered the term bisexual and what it meant, and realised that that is what she was. Dani did date a few boys in the past, but nothing long-term. Dani just clicked better with girls for some reason and to this day prefers them over boys.
Just over two years ago, on Dani's fifteenth birthday, her mother decided out of nowhere that she and Dani was going to leave Jacksonville. Late that night, after Dani's dad had passed out on the couch, Elizebeth started packing their bags as quickly as possible, she wanted to get out of the house before Michael woke up. Dani was also sleeping, her mother woke her up after their bags were packed and they left. Dani and her mother went to a Motel just outside of town and it was about a week before Michael finally found them. When he entered their Motel room, Dani was sure he was going to kill them, but he didn't. He just stood there, staring at the two of them and Dani was surprised when she saw a tear run down his cheek. Her father did not say anything, he just put an envelope down on their bedside table as well as the keys to their house, turned around and walked out of the room. Dani and Elizebeth stood and and walked to the window and watched Michael climb into his car in which another woman sat, and drove off.
In the envelope Michael left them was a very short letter and about one thousand dollars in cash.

It is clear to me that you no longer want to be my wife, this hurts me, but I will except it and move on.
I have met someone else and she is better than you ever was and ever could be, we're moving away from Chicago and starting a new family.
My lawyers will send you the divorce papers, since you signed a prenuptial agreement, you aren't supposed to get anything... But the house is yours if you want it and the cash in the e nvelope too. Tell Danielle I love her.
