personality: Dorian is soft on the inside, but a little rough around the edges. Although he is very kindhearted, he is also very mellow and quiet and difficult to understand by others, as they mistake him to be shy. However, he isn't so much shy as he is voluntarily a loner. He has issues with trusting others due to an unstable home life. He is a lover of all music, especially classical, punk, techno, and metal, although he can't stand country, rap, or "pop" music. Dorian is a painter, and can often be found after school working on a new piece, and a poet that writes poetry in his notebook when he should be studying. He also plays acoustic guitar.
likes: Sneaking cigarettes between class periods, eating sushi, watching independent and black and white films, people watching, science fiction and horror movies, and playing chess.
dislikes: Intolerant, superficial, or vain people, gym class, being treated like a child by teachers, people asking him "what's wrong?" all the time, personal exposure to the world.
strengths: Artistic and musical ability, intuitive thinker, computer savvy, political awareness.
weaknesses: Lonely, a smoker, tendency to slack and break rules, and sometimes thinking he's got more depth than his peers that causes him to look down on others that he deems "superficial".

Dorian inhaled the nicotine from his cigarette and closed his eyes. This was his spot: behind the school, near the dumpsters and maintenance doors, where he could be alone and think by himself. He knew that if he got caught that it would mean detention, but part of him didn't even care. He needed to be away from the monotony of school for just 5 minutes.
Several students walked past him, but didn't notice him. He smirked to himself, having preferred it that way and took another long drag of his cigarette. It was his first week at a new school. His family just moved to Jacksonville, New Jersey from Westchester, Pennsylvania; partially because he was kicked out of his old school, and partially because his father played the stock market the wrong way during the financial recession. In either case, a new school is not where he wanted to be at that moment. Dorian knew he would probably warm up eventually; make friends, adjust to this new town... but starting out all over again in a new place, especially with so much emotional baggage from the old one, can be a seemingly unachievable task.. Not that Dorian ever strived for achievement, at least not academically.
He stamped out his cigarette with his shoe on the pavement, made wet by an earlier passing rainfall, placed his hands in the pockets of his dark denim jacket and silently walked toward the entrance of the building. "This will be fun", he thought sarcastically as he made his way inside...
