personality: When it comes to Amani you get smoke and mirrors. If you knew her just a year ago you wouldn’t know the girl that stood before you. What you get with Amani now is a friendly, outgoing girl which technically never changed, but it’s not totally who she was before. Amani loves to socialize and hang out. She can be a tomboy and hang out with the guys, watch sports, play sports and talk sports. She can also be a big girly girl, shop, gossip and talk for hours on the phone. Amani has a dark past though. Prior to moving back to Jacksonville (from Phoenix) to live with her father, she was A.J. No one ever called her Amani. She was friendly and outgoing, but that was only part of it. Looking for love in all the wrong places, A.J. found herself in the arms of any guy or girl who would give her attention. She spent most nights drinking and doing drugs, partying, having sex and heading down the wrong path. At the end of her sophomore year A.J. found herself pregnant with absolutely no idea who the father was. Even though she had low morals, A.J. couldn’t bring herself to get an abortion, so she put her baby girl up for adoption. Her mother wanted her to be able to start her life over, shed her reputation, so she sent her back to Jacksonville to live with her father for her senior year. She’s trying very hard not to revert back to her old ways, but living away from home without constant supervision isn’t making it easy for her,

Taken from Mia Ellwood
Mia stood around listening to the nonsense of her family. Each person was as pretentious as the next, only competing with each other as to who could possibly be the most. Her stomach began to flip flop, Mia found herself nauseous. If it wasn’t bad enough that they had to compete with every other wealthy family in Bedford Village her parents, siblings and even her grandparents seemed to have to outdo each other. Pathetic. That seemed to be the only word that would pop into Mia’s bleach blonde head. It killed her to feel this way, she loved each member of her family, but she just couldn’t be like them. She wouldn’t. Mia had every intention of breaking the cycle but she just didn’t know how to do it. It felt like every word every spoken to her about how they were better, richer, more powerful, always managed to creep back into her subconscious even in the simplest of situations, a conversation. Mia didn’t think she was better than anyone else but somehow she always managed to come across that way. It was a vicious cycle and Mia was hell bent on changing it before she graduated, before her legacy matched her brothers. Mia was going to be different, she was convinced.
Letting out a deep breath, Mia walked out of the sitting room and up the grand staircase to her bedroom quietly shutting the door behind her. Walking over to her iPod, Mia turned it on taking in the lyrics. Her bedroom was her only solace when she was at home, the only place she could get away from it all. Even the large grounds never seemed to prove far enough away. Behind the closed doors no one bothered her. It was an unwritten rule in her family, if the bedroom door is shut the utmost privacy was to be respected. Mia spent more time in her room than any other room in the house, it was the only way to not go insane, the only place she couldn’t hear the nonsense of who’s better than who. Mia wanted nothing more than to scream at the top of her lungs that no one was better than anyone and they were all insane. Money didn’t make them who they were, it was time for her to rewrite her destiny. If she only knew how.
