"What the hell?!" A husky voice echoed behind me, making me jump clear out of my chair. I launched into a full sprint across the field, the woods drawing closer and closer...
Well, they did until I met the turf with my face. Hello turf, yeah, nice to meet you too. Pleasant.
"Gerrof!" I muttered, basically a pancake now. "Adam! Get the fuck off me!" I hauled myself to my knees, throwing him back. His husky laugh rang in my ears by the time I could get back up.
"Aw, you know I was just havin' fun, Margi. You know I love you, right?" Adam's voice made it really sound like he was sad, but the expression gave him away. I groaned, dusting my pants off, even though it was turf...
"Go away and leave me alone. I'm not dealing with you today. I'm pissed off enough with you, and I'm not kidding, Adam!" I whirled around, stomping back toward the parking lot. I jammed the key into the side of my truck, unlocking the door.
SLAM! Again, my face met something, this time, it wasn't so generous. Adam had persisted in slamming me against my own door. The nerve of that boy! Turning to face him, I managed my some-what-sweet-smile, but rammed my knee so hard into his groin that he wouldn't be having kids in his near future....
