Chris walked into his room in which he knew he would be sharing with two other guys. He was fine with that because at his British boarding school that was how it was. However co-ed dorms were so much more appealing of course but he could deal with it. He did like the idea of sharing with a girl though, at his old school it had never been allowed but the thought of being in a dorm with a girl here made him grin...that hadn’t happened though OBVIOUSLY* oh well he could deal with it, at least he would make some friends already. Though this had been his third day, the other two days he had literally just slept because of the jetlag. It wasn’t that bad, he had been exaggerating it but still, gave him an excuse to sleep. Plus he wasn’t doing finals or anything since his school year had finished in England. It was kind of confusing for him but if he wanted to go to Harvard, he figured the best way to do that was to go to school in America and he had heard Jackson High was a really good school so he applied and then flew over. It was kinda nice to be somewhere different. He had left England with it pouring rain and now in Jacksonville it was really good weather so that was a bonus. Especially since the warm weather meant girls going round in skimpy outfits. Not that he was a perv or anything.
He looked around the room and began unpacking. He had barely done anything since moving in and his luggage was just by his bed. He figured his roomies must be getting a little annoyed and didn’t want to start off on a bad note with his new roomies. He was a little annoyed he had been unable to take his drum kit to start with, that was being shipped specially because it was special or something...which it was but he still didn’t get why it couldn’t have gone on the flight with him. Though he already had loads of bags. Luckily his parents had arranged a car to pick him up at the airport so the driver had helped him. His father knew people in New York and sometimes worked there on business so that was how the deal was made. He was just glad that he was finally adjusting to the time difference. He didn’t think it would be a struggle but he was still quite tired and not up for doing that much. There was the camping trip that he had signed up for though, he had literally heard about it as soon as he arrived from some girl he had been talking to and put his name down. He hadn’t ever been camping but figured it would defiantly be a lot of fun and an experience he wasn’t likely to forget...also it would be a good chance to get to know other people, since he was a sociable person. He just found it fun being around people. He couldn’t be on his own for long because he got really bored and that was one thing Chris couldn’t stand....being bored.
Looking through stuff he found pictures with him and his friends at his old school and smiled slightly. Hopefully he would have lots good memories here as well, he could see it happening as well. Everyone seemed so friendly and cool. There didn’t seem to be many British people around the campus though but he didn’t think that was a bad thing...no that was a very good thing because it meant that girls would dig his cute British accent a whole lot more because they weren’t used to hearing it. He did love the idea of that and laughed to himself thinking about it, he then set his thoughts on Kimberley...his girlfriend from back home...well ex girlfriend. He wondered whether she was over him. Whether it had been hard to get over him. Because it had been hard for him and he hated the thought of her getting with another guy so soon after they had broken up. Though it hadn’t been that soon because they had made the decision just after he heard that he was accepted at Jackson High. It still annoyed him though, but having the women around here giving him attention he wasn’t complaining about that much, or he was trying not to. He groaned as he began sorting his clothes, He didn’t know where he was suppose to put everything. Was he meant to put it in the cloest? But what if his roomies objected, Chris was not very argumentative at all. He hated getting into fight or anything like that and he didn’t want to get off on the wrong foot with his new roommates considering they would have to put up with each other for the next year and being in the same room with someone you disliked was not going to make it easy to avoid them. But then again he didn’t like spending all his time in his room. He would just have to wait and see. He heard some movement from the other side of the door and shot up so that he was ready to introduce himself. He wanted to make sure that he made the right impression because he had been taught that first impressions of a person were everything so he had always made sure to give the right first impression after being told that.

Carter had hated the last month of school considering all the teachers pushed loads of homework on them, and essays and exams were a lot more frequent. He had breezed by the rest of the year doing very little but now at the end it'd been crunch time and he had to do as much as he could. He talked to himself heading down the hall until he'd heard someone say his name and he looked up to see one of his classmates. He stopped in the middle of the hall to talk to them for a moment, something about seeing some new guy walking into his room, and after thanking the student for the warning he started towards the room.
The first thing he noticed had been the open door as he sighed stepping into the room and immediately his eyes fell on the new roommate. He had been gorgeous, Carter had no problem with sexuality and would have no problem admitting he'd been gorgeous, but at the same time it freaked him out initially thinking that Tim might think the same. What the hell was up with Tim anyway? He had honestly not remembered ever having a conversation about the mans specific sexuality so could he even consider Tim gay or even bisexual? He groaned as he noticed the man look over at him and he broke eye contact as he made his way to his bed.
"You must be that new kid they're talking about, Chad or Keith or something?" He asked, of course he had known that the mans name had been Christopher, but he did not want the other to know that just yet. Him and Tim had gotten a note the other day saying that they would be getting a new roommate, a foreign student or something, but he didn't look all too foreign as Carter glanced back over at him one more time. He hated the fact that he'd been gorgeous and was somewhat thankful that Tim hadn't been around to see him, but of course he knew he could not keep him out of the room forever and he was bound to see the new roomie. Why in the world had Carter been getting so jealous anyway? He sat on his bed and unlaced his shoes taking them off and throwing them against the wall where they normally sat. "I'm Carter, Tim's around somewhere and he sleeps over there." He pointed towards the others bed. "You don't have a lot of stuff for a new student," He noticed, or at least it didn't look like a lot of stuff. Most of it had been put away it seemed though and the man had been dealing with his clothes right now. He just remembered when he'd came to school he'd had fifty million bags, or at least it had seemed like that much when it was a significantly less number of course. outfit. sexynotes. crappy first, sorry.[/blockquote]

he thought, taking on the persona of a classic weather man. This, and other imaginings, made his dull life much more interesting. By the time he exited the school building, Tim could practically taste the impending presence of summer, surrounded by tank tops and sunglasses as he was. He actually enjoyed the stroll across campus to Martinetti Hall, smiling to himself the entire time. I need some fucking theme music, he decided, entering the main lobby of the building and heading for his room. Of course, until the point he entered, he had completely forgotten about the imminent arrival of their new room mate. Christopher, from England. He was a bit excited to meet the guy, considering England had always seemed to be an interesting place (Harry Potter, hello!).. he was also a bit worried. Because, as we all know, him and Carter sort of had a weird thing going on. Who knows what sort of problems would result from having an additional roomie? Hopefully, everything would run smoothly and sort itself out in the end. Unfortunately, the first thing Tim saw after glancing at the luggage piled in their dorm was Carter's face, and it wasn't exactly the most delighted of the other man's expressions. Suppressing a groan, Tim forced a broad smile across his own lips, determined to make up for his friends' strange behaviour. " Hey," he greeted the new guy (assuming that the stranger in the dorm was, in fact, their new room mate), " you must be Christopher, right? I'm Tim." He swung his bag onto the couch, sliding his shoes off before throwing himself smoothly beside it and propping his feet up on the table. He surveyed their English companion, deciding that he was acceptable so far. Not crazy, not smelly, not too mean-looking. After a moment, Tim suddenly remembered his manners, sitting upright. " Do you need any help unpacking?" he asked brightly, eager to ease the tension which Carter seemed determined to promote. outfit sexy in plaid?notes 3/4ths of mcfly![/ul]

When Carter walked in, he instantly got the feeling that he wasn’t wanted. Its Chris actually he said with a small smile. He could play him at his own game...as if he couldn’t handle him. He would just be as nice as he could be to him and hopefully things would change. He did feel a little awkward though but maybe that would change. At least there was still one more roomie he was yet to meet, maybe things would be a little better with him and less awkward. He didn’t know though, it was funny how he couldn’t actually predict those kind of things and he couldn’t tell what Carter was thinking. He kinda wished that he could since it would make things easier. He didn’t know why this guy had a problem with him...if he did have a problem with him....it seemed like he did but then he wasn’t really sure, he always went by peoples first impressions, well usually and Carter wasn’t making the best one, so it seemed. He sighed and looked around at the door, hoping someone else would come in soon to release the tension and awkwardness the two shared which he had no idea where it came from.
Some of my things will be arriving later...the airline wouldn’t let me take too much stuff for some reason...well they said I was over and some of the things were best going special air anyway he said, thinking about his drum kit. He couldn’t wait to get that, but then again would it be a problem for his new roomies to have it with him? It hadn’t been a problem before but he didn’t know, he wasn’t nervous but he did feel a little apprehensive about it, then again...he wasn’t exactly going to give up the drum kit just to keep one of his roomies happy, he just wasn’t that kind of person. Plus he loved it too much and it didn’t take up that much room. The place was big enough for it and there was a nice little area he could see it fitting quite nicely. I hope I have room for everything he said speaking for himself more than anyone else. Is there space in the closet? he asked him. He thought it would be best that he was still civil to the guy since he didn’t have any reason to dislike him.
He heard more movement on the other side of the wall and the doorknob move. Then it opened and he saw a smiling face. Finally someone smiley! He thought to himself. At least he would get along with one of this roomies, even though he didn’t want to not get along with either of his roomies since that would just be bad and awkward and he hated not getting along with people he had to be around with, but anyway this guy seemed cool so that was something. Hi he smiled at him with his usual and natural British charm. Yeah...but please, call me Chris he smiled at him. Then he looked over at Carter and smiled. Hi...urm sorry I don’t think I caught your name he said, hopefully the guy would at least introduce himself if he asked. It’s nice to meet you both he said politly. He kept the charm on because that was just who he was, he couldn’t actually turn it off, it was natural for him to be charming...and around girls he was usually always flirty. Though it wasn’t natural to be anything else but flirty with girls unless he really liked them, that was how he had always been and he was old fashioned like that.
Oh yeah sure, that would be cool he nodded at Tom when he offered to help him unpack. I have some more stuff coming later...I hope I have room for everything he said with a smile then looked at the two guys. It seemed there was even some awkwardness between those two, so did Carter just make things awkward for everyone? He decided to see if he could get some information on their relationship. So are you guys friends then? I am guessing you have been roomies for a while maybe? he said actually having no clue, he was just making conversation and trying to be friendly. notes; not my best

He wanted to tell the man it hadn't mattered what his name had been, but in the end he just nodded forcing a smile, "Chris, gotcha." He nodded as he laid down on his bed staring up at the ceiling above him. "Our rooms not that big," He wanted to make sure he noted that since the man had spoken about bringing more stuff in. He was just being stubborn right now though. He chuckled some, an ignorant little sound, when the man said that some things needed to come 'special air'. What could be so special it had to be shipped seperately? "I hope you do too. It'd suck to have stuff lying all around." He shook his head not wanting that at all.
When he asked if there had been space in the bucket Carter just shrugged, "Probably." He shrugged knowing that he could make space if he wanted to, but that'd require him getting energy and right about now it just wasn't going to happen. He knew Tim would come in and be as nice as could be though and give the new man whatever he probably wanted in the room. Tim was just too nice like that. Carter always had said that he was too good for his own good. He hadn't expected the other man to come in just yet as he heard him enter and make his introduction, Carter glancing over from his lying position on the bed, and he smiled faintly at him as the other flashed his brilliant smile at the new man in the room.
"Carter," He could have sworn he had said his name at another point in time, but he just looked back up at the ceiling when he heard Tim ask if he needed any help with unpacking. He could not believe that his friend was asking a complete stranger if he wanted help unpacking. He also couldn't believe that he was getting worked up like this over nothing. It's just the fact that they'd had an empty bed for so long and now someone had filled it. It would no longer be just him and Tim, Chris would now be a part of the equation. He groaned again, not even two minutes after introductions and Tim was welcoming him with open arms. Carter just nodded dropping his hands to his sides as Chris said it'd been nice to meet them.
Carter picked his head up only seconds when the other said something about hoping for enough room. He better not have expected him to share any of his space. He was damn stubborn like that. When asked about their relationship Carter sat up on the bed looking over at Tim with a grin, "You could say something like that." He asked when the other mentioned friends. "Best friends, close." He nodded still grinning looking at his friend. His eyes never managed to find their way to the new man in the room though. He did stop though and figured he might as well lay back down, nothing was humoring him enough to stand up just yet, so instead of getting up he put his head back on his pillow. "We've known each other for a while." He added. [/blockquote]

" Tim nodded, glad that he wouldn't have to be dealing with the mouthful of 'Christopher' for the next year. He didn't understand why people with long names sometimes refused to shorten them - it just made life more difficult for everyone. He rolled his eyes at Carter's less-than-enthusiastic response to Chris's question, hoping his friend would get the stick out of his ass soon. After all, there could be nothing to gain from treating their new dorm mate badly. He glanced over at Carter briefly, raising an eyebrow in an attempt to get him to act normally, then returned his gaze to Chris. " You, too," he replied, still struggling to be welcoming enough for two. At Carter's groan, Tim pressed his lips together with impatience, pushing himself off the couch and heading over to where Chris was unpacking. " Sorry about him," he muttered - loudly enough for Carter to hear every word, " he's probably just hungry." Then, turning back to his friend, called, " fix yourself a sandwich or something!" Tim couldn't help but chuckle to himself; he was in such a good mood that even the lamest of things could make him laugh. He glanced around the room, noticing that it was fairly messy. Hopefully, Chris didn't mind that too much. " Anyway, we can probably get some more things in the closet if we really try.. and there's a dresser by your bed, too. Any kitchen-y stuff goes in the kitchen, and whatever else.. well, wherever you can fit it," he informed their new room mate, gesturing around the room, " as you can tell, we aren't too obsessed with keeping everything clean." Tim shrugged, half-apologizing for their lack of organization and half-informing Chris that it was simply a fact of life. At Chris's next question, Tim glanced over at Carter, both surprised and relieved to see his grin. Well, at least the man hadn't completely forgotten how to smile. Returning the other's expression, he turned back to Chris, explaining more even though it hadn't been asked of him. " Yeah. I don't even remember how we met.. we're both from New York," he revealed, trying not to be too disappointed as Carter became disinterested once more. Really, what was up with him today? Chris probably they were a couple of wack jobs by now, for all they knew. " So, what brings you to the states?" he asked still hoping to get rid of some of the awkwardness. If Carter wasn't willing to act like a normal human being, then he could just sit on his bed and mope for the rest of the day. Tim, on the other hand, would try to get to know their new dorm mate.[/ul]

Chris offered a weak smile at Carter. He didn’t understand why he was being the way he was when Chris was doing his best to be friendly. It didn’t make sense in his opinion because all he wanted to do was get to know his new roomies but obviously, Carter wasn’t making it easy for him. Yeah...I can see that... he said to him, not meaning to be rude but he was kind of pointing out the obvious wasn’t he? Yeah well I hate having things lying around as well so I’ll make sure that they are not all lying around he told him with a smile just to piss him off really . Right... he said in Carters response to whether there was enough space for his clothes. please could we just have a look so I can get some stuff in there already? he asked You did say that you didn’t want my things lying around he said. Chris wasn’t being rude but he didn’t like the attitude Carter was giving him. He wasn’t about to get in a fight with the roomie he had just met though, that would make things so much more awkward than they already seemed to be.
That’s cool he smiled. I bet its nice having your best mate around you he smiled. He remembered his friends from back home and smiled slightly. He figured it wouldn’t be as easy making new friends here as he thought. Or maybe it was going to be...he didn’t know, the Tim guy didn’t seem bad at all, he could see them being friends at least and he still had to meet people. He hadn’t been around long so he could say that he was being a little unfair on himself. He hoped that he could have a good time at the school and make some good friends and memories along with it. He just wanted to make a good impression since that was what he was all about. Chris always did what he could to make the best first impression because he knew that he himself looked at people from their first impression. It was important to him and he didn’t want to be a hypocrite and judge someone on his first impression of them if he hadn’t made a very good impression himself. However, his sometimes snobbish attitude could maybe put some people off. He was very strong on certain views and some people probably wouldn’t like them.
Chris smiled at Tim. It was nice to know one of his roomies was welcoming. He would just have to work harder with Carter probably but he wasn’t likely to give up easily. Chris shrugged when Tim apologised for Carter. In his opinion he didn’t need to know that. I guess I can understand his mood since you guys are best mates and have been sharing this dorm for a while. I don’t think I blame him if I am honest he said doing his best to make peace with Carter and actually have him talk to him properly but he didn’t know if that would be a possibility yet Okay cool, that answers a lot of my questions he smiled at the guy before him. Don’t worry I should make room for everything. I just hope that there will be room for my drum kit around here somewhere. he said looking around the room. It was one thing that was really important to him and he was kind of at a loss without it. He had been using the one at school but that wasn’t the same. It was just something he was particular about. Maybe it was a comfort thing more than anything.
Chris chucked slightly. He could relate to that, he could only remember how he had met a few of his friends from back home because all his oldest friends had been around since he was born virtually and their parents had been friends of his parents. It was funny how he had no recollection of their first meeting, but he knew that he must have been really young so he wasn’t likely to remember anyway was he? He kind of wished he did, it would have been fun to remember things from when they were really young. On the question of what brought him to the states he smiled. the girls? he said and then laughed some more. No, well I want to go to Harvard university, so I figured I may as well come over here for my last year of school and take the S.A.Ts because at least then I would be the same as everyone else and have the same qualification from high school he told him. If that makes any sense. I guess I just wanted options, and I heard this was one of the best schools around and figured I would check it out. I might not even end up going to Harvard, I don’t know yet. I guess I will have to see how things go. He couldn’t guarantee that he would get into Harvard, but he hoped that he would, but maybe if he made so many friends he would’t want to leave and he would go to the local college?

Carter knew that Tim was putting in extra effort to make up for him being such a little brat right now, that had always been the kind of person Tim had been so he'd expected it, but at the same time Carter was stubborn and had a problem with sharing. In this case that'd meant the room, or more specifically his roommates time as he could see Tim had been far too focused on the other. He should just leave him be to unpack alone or something, or at least that is what Carter had wished. Maybe he could ask him to go grab a bite or something? He watched him walk over closer to him and grumbled, "Maybe I will!" Carter hollered back as he sat up and stomped across the room towards their kitchen just outside in the common room.
"New guy, Chad, you can do what you want with the closet. I don't care," He waved it off as he stumbled out the door groggily scratching the back of his neck. No he had not just woken up but in a matter of minutes he'd felt physically drained. He could hear the two of them talking about something in the other room, but at the moment it is not like he cared all that much. He had pretty much ignored the last few things the new man had said. He could sense a bit of sarcasm in his voice and he remembered one smart assed smile that he'd seen, and those two things were definitely not helping his impressions of the other. He reached in the fridge and grabbed a bottled water that had been in there as well as some jelly and the bread. Carter, although others would laugh and call him demented, had always left bread in the fridge as he'd noticed it hadn't spoiled as quickly. He didn't care and sure hoped Tim didn't mind. He grabbed the peanut butter out of the cupboard and did himself up a sandwich like he'd been told and put it on a paper plate as he looked into the peanut butter jar. There had been very little left and this had upset him as a pout crossed his lips. "Shit Timmy, we're out of peanut butter!" He proclaimed as he put the nearly empty tub back in the cupboard, he had no problem scraping the sides.
He walked back in the room just in time to hear the man mention something about a drum kit as he just laughed taking a bite of his sandwich. "I sure hope you know how to play the thing if you're bringing it into here, no bad musics allowed and all." He demanded as he looked over towards the guitar he'd had propped against the wall. He'd played both guitar and bass but the guitar had a better sound as it'd been alone, so when alone in his room he'd have no problems pulling out his guitar. He was not impressed by the mention of the drums nor would he be until he'd heard him, and then he would make his assumptions. "You came over here for Harvard?" He cocked an eyebrow before stuffing another bit of sandwich in his mouth shaking his head, he could not understand that, but that's just because school and learning had never been the most important thing in his life. He walked back over to his bed and sat on the edge looking at the two as they stood over there, "Being the same as everyone else, yeah, that sounds like a goal I want to acheive in high school as well." He mouthed off hoping Tim wouldn't get super mad but he definitely did just twist and turn the mans words from their normal meaning. [/blockquote]

" he gestured in the direction Carter had just gone, " You probably saw it already, but whatever. Pretty much everything's up for grabs unless it's specifically labelled..." He frowned slightly, eyebrows scrunching together. " Try to avoid annoying Carter until he gets used to you. He's not usually such an ass." Knowing Carter, he'd find something wrong with Chris no matter how careful their new room mate was, but with luck he'd eventually get over himself. Of course, as Carter (obviously purposefully) got Chris's name wrong, Tim groaned. They certainly had an interesting few weeks ahead of them. " Yeah. It's kind of always just been me and him, to tell the truth. But I think he'll be fine once he realizes he doesn't have a choice," Tim told Chris, silently praying that this would be the case. He didn't want to scare their new dorm mate off, and he didn't want to have to put up with Carter's antics for the entirety of their senior year. Of course, with that thought, Carter's voice rang through the dorm, causing Tim to scowl. Still, he yelled back with a relatively light-hearted, " okay!," making a mental note to get some more peanut butter when the chance arose. " He likes to use his voice," he informed Chris on Carter's behaviour, various memories of his friend yelling for no reason coming to mind. As Carter returned, Tim was looking around the room, wondering where the drum kit would go. Eventually, he shrugged, glancing back at Chris. " We'll find space." The way he saw it, Chris being a drummer could go one of two ways. Either he was exceptional, and Carter decided that he wasn't so bad after all, or he was terrible, and Tim and Carter had just landed the worst sort of room mate. Always the optimist, Tim figured the former. " You know, Carter plays guitar," he gestured to the instrument leaning against the wall. He didn't mention his own musical abilities, since he'd never been too serious about them, anyway. He raised his eyebrows at his friend, hoping the other man would take the hint and at least try to act nice. Tim laughed as Chris joked about coming here for the girls, glad that he was showing signs of a sense of humour. It meant that, if anything, he'd be able to keep up with Carter and Tim's strange conversations. Tim gave Carter a warning look as he commented on Chris's reasons for coming to America, but there was really nothing wrong with the question. Keeping an eye on the man, Tim turned back to Chris, grinning. " I was thinking about Harvard, too. I'm probably nowhere near smart enough... and I don't even know what I want to do yet. But it's a possibility." Of course, Carter earned himself another disgruntled glance with his last words, and Tim had half a mind to tell him to quit acting like a grumpy five-year-old. It seemed Chris could hold his own, though, and besides - Carter would've loved being called a grumpy five-year-old.[/ul]

He watched as carter went off to make a sandwich and ignored Carters comment about doing what he wanted with the closet. Why should he need his permission anyway? Wasn’t this room just as much his as it was theirs now? He went over and began putting things in the closet where he could find room as Tim spoke and told him about the kitchens whereabouts and such. So we share certain things? he asked. He wanted to make sure that he got things right and didn’t mess things up and make things bad for all three of them to live with each other. Not that it seemed like Carter and Tim would have a problem with each other, it was just him...everyone says that three is a crowd and now he was going to see that. He was defiantly feeling a little left out but at least Tim was trying to be nice...well he was being nice but he was in a weird, foreign country and the thought of having to spend the last year of his school life in a dorm with someone that seemed to hate him wasn’t going to make things easy. It kind of made him a little worried. He nodded at Tim when he said he should avoid annoying Carter. He would defiantly do whatever he could do to that. He knew that Carter had gotten his name wrong on purpose and would have said something but he thought about what Tim had just said and shut his mouth. More conflict was defiantly not needed, it would just make things even worse than they seemed to be now. He kind of wished he was back home, the homesickness feeling kicking in, but he wasn’t going to admit that because he didn’t want to sound like a loser.
He nodded at Tim and smiled. Well that was kind of understandable, it was a change for them and to accept someone new in their room now must be weird since it had always been just the two of them. He would probably act kind of the same if it had been one of his best mates and someone foreign who was moving into the dorm he had at his old school, well he could imagine himself being a little bit of an arse, just because sometimes he could genuinely appear to be just that. I think I would probably find it strange too if it was the same situation with my best mate from back home. He laughed slightly at Tim saying that Carter liked to use his voice. Well he was shouting rather loudly, couldn’t he just say that after he had made the sandwich? Not that he minded that much, he didn’t really care and shrugged it off. He didn’t say anything in case they took offense to it or took it the wrong way, he had to be careful now since he didn’t actually know if they would even get his sense of humour since he was typically British and all.
He smiled at Tim when he told him that they would find space for his drum kit. That was at least something good about coming here right? He then smiled and looked over at Carter when Tim said he played guitar. He purposefully ignored the comment Carter made that he hoped that he was good, he didn’t know if that was the right thing to do but he would try it and see what happened because he was kind of done with the whole ‘making a good impression’ thing because obviously Carter didn’t give a shit and he was starting to feel the same since it was obvious Carter didn’t want him around. Why had he come here in the first place? Oh yeah...Harvard....was it really that worth it? Well he really did want to at least TRY and get in, I mean he knew that it was tough, it was like applying for Oxford or Cambridge in Britain. You probably had to have something weird about you to actually fit in and Chris wasn’t really that weird, and also you really had to work hard to get into Harvard, like really hard. Could he really handle it?
Chris was just ignoring Carter completly now, which was probably a bad idea but whatever. Maybe they would get on in the future, but right now he was going to give him the same treatment. How did the saying go? Treat others how you would like to be treated....yes, he would go with that. He listened to Tim talk about Harvard. Really? he asked. Well I don’t know, you could get there...I think they are probably like Oxford and Cambridge and look for all kinds of different people...and kind of weirdos too...maybe I won’t fit in there but I want to do law and thats a good place to start it.
OOC//I’ve literally been working on this since I got home. My muse is low so replies will come less frequently than I like. Chris muse seems to be highest though...could be the mad hour I had watching old McFLY vids...

Carter wasn't usually like this at all. He could usually walk around the room wearing nothing more than a grin the entire time, but since finding their new roomie unloading his stuff he just could not help but have a bad attitude about the entire thing. It's not that he hated the man from the start, honestly he could possibly get along with him had he not lived in their dorm, but now he'd be sharing their close quarters and there'd be no private Tim/Carter time and that was upsetting. Could Carter still persuade his friend to share the bed and cuddle after a long night of watching movies? Could they do anything that they had normally been doing without that third person, and of course by 'anything' the first thing he'd thought of was their sexual relationship. Sure the two weren't doing much of anything other than the usual PG stuff, but still it wasn't something that a normal person would want to walk in and find their two male roommates doing.
When he had been out of the room he could not hear much of anything that the two men inside the bedroom area were discussing, but of course when he stepped back through the doors he could hear them perfectly once more as he glanced over at his gorgeous best friend Timmy as he tried to make the new roommate as comfortable as possible. He hated the fact that he had to watch his friend go through such trouble trying to make him happy. Why did he care so much? Right, because this man was to be sharing the room with them for the next year, so of course it'd be best to all get along. Carter knew that but damn him if he wasn't being a bitch right now in accepting the man with open arms. It just wasn't going to happen even if Tim had wanted it from him, and that right there was saying something considering Carter would usually go to the end of the world and back, but he was just being ridiculously stubborn right now and couldn't help it.
At the mention of guitar Carter grinned some as he looked over at the instrument that'd been leaning there, "I'm a great player," He had to toot his own horn some there as he had honestly tuned out of the conversation that the other two were having when they brought up Harvard. He hated thinking about Tim going off to a college that he could honestly never get into, and he'd always gotten the feeling that given the chance Tim would find better friends and leave the wreck that Carter had been considered. He did not want to think about it as he tuned out finishing off his sandwich as he stood up and walked over to his laptop as he opened it up and started to click around so he could get to his facebook account or something. "You got that desk over there too," He decided he'd chime in and point at the single desk in there that'd had nothing on it. There, Tim could feel proud of him because he helped that Chris dude out at least once. He'd done his part and always wished he could ask to leave, but instead he had to stay and tolerate. He just hoped the two would stop talking about school soon considering that'd been a sensitive subject. [/blockquote]

" Tim laughed lightly, feeling the slightest bit of emotional fatigue, " as long as you don't eat all the cereal in one go, or anything, it should be fine. And if you see that we're out of something, replacing it... helping with groceries, that sort of thing.." He shrugged, offering an apologetic smile. " Sorry, we haven't really had to think about all of this before. I have a feeling we'll be making it up as we go along," he admitted. It would have been so much easier if Carter were co-operating; then, the three of them could have sat down and worked out all the little details instead of Tim having to pull things out of his ass. He made a mental note to try to talk to his friend when the opportunity arose. Tim certainly wasn't used to the other man ignoring his obvious pleas for an attitude change - to tell the truth, it hurt a bit. Tim had always liked how Carter seemed to respect his wishes, and to have him blatantly refuse to act even the tiniest bit more welcoming made Tim wonder if something was up. Though, obviously, he couldn't deal with it now. Not while trying to convince Chris that the two of them were absolutely sane and acceptable room mates. He was a bit relieved to see Chris's smile. If anything, the man was taking it all in stride, so that was a bit of a relief. He couldn't imagine what he would've done if they'd gotten a room mate who was easily offended, or anal about keeping everything clean, or just as stubborn and pigheaded as Carter. Tim barely managed to survive with just one of his best friend; to have two in the same enclosed space, both refusing to accept the other, both leaving to try to smooth everything over... that would have been terribly stressful. At the moment, Tim was considering even this small mercy as a sort of miracle. He nodded to Chris's understanding, expression showing that it was greatly appreciated. " Like I said, he'll probably come around eventually," he repeated, feeling a bit like a broken record. At his new companion's laugh, he allowed himself a wider grin. Maybe, eventually, everything would work out for the better. As Chris began to ignore Carter's rude comments, Tim breathed a tentative sigh. It was probably the best option at the current time, anyway. When Carter claimed to be a great player, Tim laughed again, still trying to push down all worries about the coming months. " He actually isn't too bad," he added to the other man's statement, glancing over at his friend and giving him a half-smile, " just don't let him sing. My ears were ringing for days." He chuckled again at his own over-exaggeration; Carter wasn't even that bad of a singer. Tim simply wasn't about to let him walk around with some sort of inflated ego at his earlier compliment. He nodded as Chris continued talking about Harvard, amusement glinting in his eyes as he mentioned the 'weirdos' the administration would be looking for. " I'm not actually that weird, either," he sighed, feigning disappointment and snapping his fingers, " damn." Really, this Chris kid seemed to be very in to post-secondary education. Personally, Tim had always seen himself going off to college or university.. he just wasn't particularly directional about the where, when or what for. Another glance at Carter easily revealed the other man's unease, and Tim's expression became pained. This was going to be harder than he'd thought. It looked like he'd need to change the topic, for all of their sakes... but nothing was popping into his head. Desperately, he turned back to Chris, offering yet another grin. " Anyway, how long have you been playing the drums?" Music. It would have to work. Needing to distract himself from the awkward situation, Tim began helping Chris put things in the closet.[/ul]

Oh, well my dad said that he would put in some money for me so we can have a little extra he told them. I’m used to the whole sharing thing since my last school was a boarding school in England. he told them. Obviously very different but I’m guessing they will have some similarities. he told them. One big difference is you guys have co-ed dorms here...I bet thats fun! he grinned. But yeah I don’t mind at all helping with groceries and stuff like that, obviously its a requirement. I’ll buy the next lot if you want he said. Chris wanted to make sure that his roomies at least knew that he wasn’t the type who would just let one person pay for everything, and also that he was going to eat everything and not replace it. He’d had a roomie back in England once who was like that and it drove him crazy beyond believe....it got to the stage where they all paid for their own stuff and labelled the food. Trust me, its no fun when there is one person that never chips in to pay for stuff and just eats everyone else’s food he said with a small smile. He was really trying hard to make sure that they knew he was going to be a good roommate and they wouldn’t regret having him around. If anything they should be glad. His dad had already given him a wad of cash to spend on groceries. If you want I can do a shop later on since I have some money that my dad gave me already, or I can just give you guys some money and we all get our own stuff, either way works he said being polite, though he would prefer it if they wanted to go do the shop all together since he had only just met these guys and didn’t want them taking advantage of the money he was going to give them and spend it on something inappropriate. He smiled at Tim Its no worries, I’m guessing you didn’t get much warning you would be getting a new roomie huh? he asked.
Chris simply smiled and nodded. He hoped that he would because it would be nice if he could get on with both his roomies. He would think that would be pretty awesome because in England, apart from the guy who never really chiped in, the other three guys became his best friends, since he had been living with them since year 8 (which would make them thirteen/fourteen] since that was how boarding school worked in England. He smiled at the memories they had shared and hoped that he would have some good memories for the year that he was here as well. He could see himself getting along with both of them, well hopefully, from what Tim had told him about Carter he didn’t see any reason why they wouldn’t actually get along. He seemed a decent enough guy to Tim, but then they had been besties for ages so maybe Tim was used to it. Oh well, he didn’t know but he would give it a try. Maybe he should make a little more effort with Carter and make him feel more at ease, but he didn’t know if that would just piss him off, he didn’t want to do that, he just wanted to get along with him, or at least have him be civil to him, but he knew that was up to Carter and it didn’t really have anything to do with him, it wasn’t his decision to make. Well I guess he isn’t really used to change, I completely understand. I can imagine my roomies are probably going to be going through something similar when they start back in september he smiled. Apart from the fact whoever will be in their room, will be replacing me...so I guess that kinda sucks for them. he said. But yeah, I can understand his reason, maybe I will just give him some space and let him get used to me being here he told Tim. Whatever he could do to help him get used to him being here and making it a better environment for all three of them, he was up for doing that because he thought it would be much better for everyone.
Chris laughed That’s pretty cool. I’ve kind of thought about playing the drums professionally sometimes. I think my dad would just freak though he sighed, yes his parents wouldn’t be all that pleased if he suddenly decided that he was choosing a music career over being a lawyer. He could imagine his father being less than impressed. Maybe his mother would learn to deal with it but shouldn’t it be his decision anyway? That was what you would think wouldn’t you? But virtually all his life, Harry had said that he wanted to be a lawyer, that was what he wanted to do, and now to turn round after sending him away to an American boarding school so he could go to Harvard, and paying for flights, the board and the fees....everything it would be a slap in the face. He knew he couldn’t do it but he had thought about it a lot. He turned to Carter when he said that he was a great player Go on then, play something he said with a smile and raised an eyebrow. He nodded at the desk comment, well at least he had an area for him where he could put his laptop and do his own work. Oh well, maybe there is a good school that takes the non weird kids who want to get into Harvard he joked. It was always a possibility to go somewhere else, though his father wouldn’t like it. He didn’t really care about that though, he just knew that a career in music was out of the question. Unless he actually got a band set up...and they got sighed. That would be a reason to get into the music business. Oh I’ve been playing for years, since I was like ten. I rememberI got my first drum kit for my tenth birthday. I played it all day. I wasn’t any good then but now I can say that I am pretty awesome. I come from a family who are quite good with music and rhythm.
OOC//Yay! DONE! Hope this makes up for it being late.

Carter had been having quite the interesting conversation in his mind trying desperately to ignore the other two as they talked about this and that, but he was finding it hard as he'd randomly tune back into the conversation just to see what they were talking about. He heard something about school in England and just rolled his eyes, if he'd already been in boarding school over there why bother coming here? That's right, because it had something to do with Harvard or something. He honestly needed to listen better but was having a hard time focusing. Carter nodded, mostly to himself, when the other man had said something about differences and similiarities. He honestly wished that he had more interest in the conversation but he just couldn't be bothered to care, he just wanted his friend and him to be alone once more and this other guy to vanish. He heard something about co-ed dorms though and looked over at him curiously, "You're excited for co-ed dorms and you roomed with two males? Doesn't that defeat the purpose?" He asked, maybe it did come off as a bit too sarcastic and sharp though. "You hear that Tim?" He asked smirking over at his best friend, "He'll buy the next lot of food," He chuckled knowing that his friend could throw back a good amount of food, like a bottomless pit sometimes, but of course their new roomie would soon find that out. Carter was just as bad though except for when he'd been drinking. "I think they're called a mooch, freeloader, i'm sure you understand right?" He asked again sounding a bit more stubborn and sarcastic. He just rolled his eyes as his new roomie said he'd go buy some stuff later, "Shouldn't you stick around to get your things sorted?" He asked pointing at the boxes, "Not that it matters I guess," He shrugged answering his own question as he returned his attention to something, anything else. "Nothing like a good ol' paper taped to the door routine," He rolled his eyes at how he'd found out about the roommate.
When he heard them talking about how it'd been because the two were best mates that Carter was having a problem he just sighed closing his eyes for a second clamping the lid shut wishing that he could be anywhere else. This new kid had no idea what was going on between the two of them, but it wasn't like Carter was that much wiser so he really couldn't say a whole hell of a lot. All he knew is that something was going on between the two of them, something that pushed the friendship envelope, but he would not be the one to bring it up in case he ruined the friendship. He would seriously consider harming himself if he ever did anything to mess the friendship up between the two of them. Tim had been the one constant person in his life and he loved the other for that, and sometimes not being able to tell him his true feelings could cut like a knife. He was thankful when he had left the room because he probably would have spoken up and said something when the two were talking about him, but by the time he came back into the room that conversation had been somewhat over and he'd been entirely thankful. He did hear the part about just giving him space though and grinned, maybe that would involve him not sticking around the room that much, and although he'd be their roomie it'd still feel like it was just the two of them. He sighed, this a happy and content one, as he thought about the times with just him and Tim once more as a broad grin spread across his face.
The talk about drums had Carter trying to tune in, and when he'd heard something about the other playing professionally he just chuckled. He did not give reason for why he had just laughed though as he'd figured neither needed one from him. When he mentioned dad Carter thought about his own for a second and wanted to mouth off about how he'd at least had a dad who would show some sort of emotion while around him, but instead he stayed quiet once more letting nothing more than a chuckle escape his lips. Carter hadn't expected him to put him on the spot like that as he looked up and over at him with a skeptical look, "Is that a command?" He asked noting the raised eyebrow almost challenging him as it stared him back in the face. "I'll play when i'm good and ready, right now I think i'll check-" He looked at the computer and thought of the first site he could, "Twitter, right, gotta check Twitter." He rolled his eyes some, that site had been fun and all but wasn't what he'd wanted to be doing right now. Carter listened as he heard the other talking about how he'd been good, and he heard the insult that'd came from his best friends lips and just laughed as he looked over at him. "You love the way I sing, no lies." In reality it'd been the other way around though, he loved playing the guitar and listening to Timmy sing beside him on those lone nights. He thought about that as his thoughts took him away from the present and he'd almost been relieved. "Music is pretty much a constant around here, I don't think a night goes by that we don't play anything." He grinned thinking about how he'd lay in bed messing around strumming away creating a new masterpiece, or at least that's what he'd liked to call them even if they were rubbish. [/blockquote]

? His eyes darted over to the real thing, wondering if he'd picked up on any of that while pretending to ignore the entire conversation. Then, not wanting to appear rude, Tim nodded, smiling. " Oh, cool," he replied to Chris's revelation about having attended boarding school previously. So, he probably had loads more experience with the whole dorm business than either Tim or Carter. Not necessarily a bad thing. Tim laughed as Chris mentioned co-ed dorms, though he felt a bit awkward... yes, co-ed dorms, hurray! I don't love my male best friend. " Yeah, in theory," he agreed with the idea of them being fun. Until raging teenage hormones resulted in some sort of ridiculous drama that made living conditions unbearable. Then, not so much. Tim grimaced as Carter decided to speak again. Every time his friend opened his mouth, he just brought the tension in the room right back up to its original level, completely undoing all of Tim's hard work to make their new room mate feel at ease. It was getting old fast. There was the slightest possibility that Carter hadn't meant to be offensive or rude, but given the circumstances it probably hadn't been entirely accidental. He raised an eyebrow as the other man addressed him. Though, he couldn't keep from grinning at the implication of his ability to consume large amounts of food in short amounts of time. He looked almost sheepishly over to Chris, shrugging. " Sure. That way, we can rule 'mooch' and 'freeloader' off the list of what's wrong with you," he laughed to let him know that he was joking, poking fun at the fact that Carter seemed determined to point out every possible flaw with their new companion. As Chris asked whether he should go get the groceries or just provide the money, Tim glanced slyly over at Carter, a mischievous smile forming on his lips. " You know..." he began slowly, leaning back on the couch, " we could just all go on a trip to the store. It'll be like a bonding exercise, but not as lame-sounding." This plan was either brilliant, or destined to backfire. Tim began mentally preparing himself for whatever protest Carter might come up with. The Battle of Befriending the New Room Mate had officially begun. He shook his head at Chris's next question, biting his lip slightly as Carter answered first. " Yeah, a paper taped to the door about.. two weeks ago?" he looked questioningly over at his friend, though the actual time period didn't matter that much. He just wanted to involve the other man in their conversation some more. Tim nodded as Chris claimed to understand how his arrival must feel. In a way, it was likely exactly what his old room mates would be going through... except that he wasn't replacing one of their close friends. Which could be seen as a good thing; he didn't have any predetermined level of awesomeness to achieve. To tell the truth, Tim found Carter's reaction to the whole thing slightly ridiculous. If he'd wanted it to just be him and Tim, they should've gotten a two-bed dorm. Besides, it wasn't like their friendship would suffer, and unless Carter was upset about the fact that they wouldn't be able to do anything... well, like they did sometimes, there was no reason for him to be so stubborn about Chris's arrival. But that can't be it, Tim reminded himself. As much as he wanted to believe it, he knew that Carter couldn't return his feelings. It was too much to hope for. Maybe he just didn't like Chris's accent, or something. " Yeah," he nodded, feeling the need to reply to the other man's words, " you're lucky you don't have to go through replacing a good friend... from what I've seen, it never really works out well. I just wish Carter wasn't so freaking.. I don't even know!" He let out a breath, displaying his real frustration for the first time before mentally shaking himself. " Sorry. You probably think you're walking into a war zone or something," he laughed. He and Carter rarely fought about anything, but Tim felt as if they might have just found something to argue about. " It's a weird day, I guess. He's not usually this difficult." How many times had Tim apologized for his friends' action so far? And it hadn't even been half an hour yet. Tim nodded, genuinely interested in the idea of Carter playing drums professionally. Of course, he had no idea if he'd be able to back up that desire, but still. " Wow, that'd be cool. Especially if you got famous.. then we'd be able to say we roomed with you and stuff. Good way to get girls," Tim joked, the comment about girls slipping out and surprising him. Now, where had that come from? At the current time, he had no real desire to 'get' any girls. The only person he wanted to 'get' was the one sitting a few feet away, who probably now thought Tim was as straight as a pin. This day just kept getting better and better. Fortunately, Chris changed the subject by asking Carter to play something. Tim almost jumped for joy; Carter loved to show off his musical skills! This would be great! Unfortunately, Carter was apparently still being pigheaded and whatnot. For the first time in a long time, Tim gave his friend a legitimate glare, silently berating him for being so rude. " Turning down an opportunity to amaze us with your guitar skills? Sucks," he said. Even Tim could speak with a cold edge to his voice, and he proved that now, turning back to Chris as his friend made up some lame excuse about checking twitter. Yeah, right. Even their new room mate, who had only just met them, probably saw right through that. Slowly, Tim realized that his previous good mood had all but evaporated since he set foot inside his dorm. He wasn't quite sure how to feel about that. So, instead of trying to figure it all out, he turned his attention to the conversation about Harvard. " Hey, yeah. They should make one of those.. a place for the ordinary smart kids," Tim grinned, forcing himself to be perfectly cheerful. Tim smiled in spite of himself at Carter's comment, immediately forcing himself to be mad again before the other man noticed. Still, he stuck his tongue out at him. Just for good measure, of course. Not because he couldn't hold a grudge, not because he was horribly forgiving, just because it seemed like the proper thing to do. However, Carter's next words did help to alleviate Tim's feelings of ill-will. He looked over at his friend, shocked that the man's sentence hadn't been laced with sarcasm or carried any insulting undertones whatsoever. And softened tentatively. " Yeah. He'll take out his guitar.. sometimes I drag out my keyboard," Tim gestured with his head to the instrument hiding behind his bed, " mostly he forces me to sing, though." He scowled as if he found the act distasteful, but he didn't mind. He just didn't think he was any good. At Chris's mention of rhythm running in the family, Tim asked, " is anyone in your family in the music industry?" ooc A bit of angry Tim. I couldn't resist xD [/ul]
