Carter had heard about Kayla and felt bad since she'd been one of his friends, so after doing some shopping for the morning he carried in one present in his left hand, and carefully carried another in his right. He was not very coordinated so to be doing this he was rather impressed, and it showed as he walked down the halls of the hospital with a huge grin on his face. It wasn't until he'd walked the same hall three times that he'd forgotten where people had told him she'd been, so without stalling any longer he walked to a nurses station as asked them which room. The pointed upwards telling him she'd been on the next level and he just laughed, "no wonder I couldn't find her room huh?" He thanked the lady that was there and turned to head towards the elevator. On Kayla's floor that grin that'd been aimed at his coordination had fallen from his face as this had all became too real for him, his friend had been asleep in a coma in the hospital, how in the world could he grin about something like that? He sighed as he followed the numbers until he'd reached the one where she should be, and he stopped as he could hear someone in there with her. He had figured it'd been her sister, someone who wouldn't have left her side he guessed, so standing beside the door he used the bear to peak around the corner and in his most feminine voice he asked, "are we all decent?" He chuckled as he pulled the bear close to him again as he stepped around the corner and walked into the room carrying both his gifts. "I got these for her," he held the flowers up before stepping over to put them on one of the tables in there, "I know she doesn't care about flowers all that much but it's not like she's going to be able to complain right? I'd like to see her wake up just to bitch about my choice of presents," he was joking of course as he made it sound like a challenge for her to actually wake up just to tell him off for bringing flowers. He knew that Kaitlyn didn't like him all that much but it didn't matter, he wasn't there for that twin but for the one fast asleep on the bed. "Oh, and about the bear, I guess they don't have coma bears so a bandaged up one was the cutest they had," he chuckled as he remembered going into the bear store and asking for a come out of your coma bear. "I am sure I could have gotten any old bear and just laid 'em flat but that's sort of stupid," he propped the bear up next to the vase and crossed his arms infront of him as he looked at her laying there motionless, "doctors give you any good news yet?"He realized that he'd came right in here and hadn't even said hello or anything, so he figured he should back the conversation up some so she wouldn't holler at him or kick him out. "I should have asked, how are you doing?" he asked cautiously ready for if she were to start hollering at him in the middle of the room. He had hoped that wouldn't be the case though, the hospital was not a scene for her to start screaming at him. "I'm sorry about everything last time, the two of us didn't really get off to a good start, I know that, but i'm hoping that you can look past that right now with everything that's going on. I want to be here for her, for you," Carter had seemed sincere enough and that was because he was, he meant every word. He looked around expecting Chris to be here but he wasn't, but that was not a bad thing and Carter didn't bother to ask because he could care less.

Kait was getting better. She could feel it. The pain in her arm had become increasingly less noticeable, the cuts and scrapes left by the crash were healing, and she didn't even need to be hooked up to the IV anymore. It was unavoidable. Try as she might, Kait could not stop her body from going through the healing process. It was betraying her. Didn't it understand that, for her to go back to normal while Kayla's condition remained the same was preposterous? It made Kait downright grumpy. As did every occasional thought of Chris which floated through her head. It should have been easy. A clean break, like the one in her arm. She would have cried a few tears either way, but then he would have been gone and she could have focused on Kayla. However, his promise to never give up on her rang through her mind like a church bell echoing through a valley, and no matter how hard she tried she couldn't stop missing him. It seemed she was destined to fail at everything now. It sucked.
Kait was startled from her pool of misery by a voice in the hall. She furrowed her brow, trying to place it. It sounded oddly familliar, as if she should know who had spoken immediately, and yet she didn't. As Carter stepped through the door, however, she muttered a faint 'oh.' Of course he would visit Kayla. At least something made sense. "Yeah, I'm decent. Try coming back in a few hours, I usually don't practice naked tango so early in the day," she told him dryly, though she was glad to have him there. He was a safe person - despite how he'd treated Chris, she figured she could trust him, and she wouldn't have to worry about him asking her too many questions because he probably didn't care enough. It would also make Chris jealous to know she was getting along with Carter. Not that she wanted to make Chris anything, of course. That was over.
As Carter held up the flowers, Kait grinned. He was actually quite sweet, cruel jokes aside. "They're great," she assured him, glancing over at her sister, "and if the need to bitch about them is what wakes her up, well..." Kait shrugged. She almost wished it could work like that. She looked down at her blanket, twisting it in her hands as she remembered how Kayla used to be about gifts. She'd always hated how her sister didn't like any of the regular things. Now, however, she would do anything to have Kayla tell her how horrible her presents were. Realizing that being all sad and reflective probably didn't make for the best conversation, Kait forced herself to brighten up, dragging her eyes to the bear. "Yeah. A coma bear would just be a regular bear with its eyes closed, wouldn't it? That one's more interesting." She turned her gaze to Carter as he continued, nodding slowly. "That bear definitely works. I don't think she would've - will - be too picky about whether or not it's in a coma, anyway."
Great. Now Kait felt like crying again. It seemed like she'd been doing that an awful lot lately. But even considering the possibility of Kayla not waking up to look at Carter's stupid gifts got to her. Though she'd told Chris that nothing would be okay, Kait had inevitably taken the path of optimism, believing that her twin would awaken eventually. In a month, maybe, or even a few years. But it'd happen. She shook her head when Carter asked about good news. "They don't tell me much. They just come in, do tests and leave again. Nurses, doctors, I don't even know. They're all so busy. I haven't heard any bad news, though, and they usually make sure they tell you that." There was a hint of bitterness in her voice, but her eyes were simply defeated. She was desperate for a pick-me-up, and wondered whether Carter could offer her any sort of relief from her current situation.
When he asked how she was doing, Kait actually laughed a bit. How many times had she heard that over the past while? And yet, hearing it from someone who didn't work at the hospital was a relief. "Physically, I'm fine. They say my arm should be as good as new in a few weeks, and that's the only thing that's really broken. I don't know how I'm ever going to recover from being bored 24/7, though. I swear I've seen every TV show twice, and I can't exactly turn the pages of a book." She frowned at the cast on her arm. "I'm allowed to walk around and stuff, but the hopital looks the same everywhere, and putting on a jacket to go outside is too much effort. I could technically go home, but..." she looked over at her sister, "I can't leave her here. What if she woke up, and she was all alone?" Kait glanced at Carter. "Sorry, I know you didn't ask for my life story, but it's nice having someone to talk to."
At Carter's apology, Kait rolled her eyes. "It's fine. His costume was stupid, anyway. I mean, Edward Cullen? Really?" She felt bad, saying stuff like that, but she was still fairly pissed at Chris. She needed some way of getting back at him for refusing to let her go. Maybe she should just make out with Carter. Yeah, that'd show him. She smirked at the thought: convincing this guy she barely knew to make out with her, in the hospital, next to her potentially dying sister would take a miracle. Of course, a little flirtation couldn't hurt, could it? As far as she knew, Carter didn't have a girlfriend or anything. He spent most of his time with Tim. The two of them needed a bit of female attention. Glad to have something to focus on besides Kayla or Chris, Kait sat up a bit, hoping she didn't look too much like she'd been laying in bed for days. "I think we should start over, don't you?" she asked pleasantly, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "I'm Kaitlyn Todd, and I think boys who glue sparkles to their chests are destined to be lonely." She held out her hand, indicating that Carter should shake it.

Carter just forced a smile on his face through her dry sense of humor, "So since it takes two to tango does that mean I should expect your partner to come through the door anytime buck naked?" He glanced over his shoulder at the door just teasing her as if he expected some naked person to come strolling in, please do NOT let it be Chris. He could only imagine how that encounter would go, but as the thoughts slowly started to creep into his system they were soon washed away as he didn't even want to imagine how that would go over, especially since the man knew he'd been crushing on the same sex as it was. "I think i'll stay away for the tango time, but when you start doing naked yoga you should give me a call, i'm sure Kayla's got my number on her phone."
He felt the naked conversation had ran it's course, mostly because they'd been in a hospital room and thinking of her doing anything naked was rather amusing to say the least, so at least he'd had the two presents to distract and move the conversation forward. He went and set them on the table near Kayla but as he looked over and noticed her look down at her blanket he just sighed, and he picked the flowers up and moved them around Kayla's bed to inbetween both beds as he put them on the table so both sisters could have them at bedside. "There's no point having them sit all the way over there, now you both can enjoy them." Carter grinned thinking he had done a good thing just then, but he did keep the bear on the other table looking over at Kayla in hopes she'd wake up. "She better not be picky after all I have done," he laughed shaking his head, honestly she could be picky all she wanted. "It's weird though, this is the quietest i've ever heard her, usually her mouths going a mile a minute," it had been the truth but that was one of the things he'd liked about her, how she could talk about anything at the drop of a hat.
He wished there had been a proper hospital etiquette manual for when he should ask certain questions, but he figured asking if there'd been any good news should be one of the first things. He listened to her sister, being surprisingly pleasant he had to take notice, as she talked about them just coming in for tests, and he could hear the bitterness in her words as she talked about the bad news. He thought it was rather sad how doctors did that, but he figured it was just to cover their asses if something were to happen that the family hadn't been forewarned about. The staff here at the hospital were just as good at covering their own asses as helping others. "She's too stubborn to throw in the towel, all this is just her doing what she does best, being dramatic. She's probably sitting over there laughing to herself at how worked up people are getting, and any second she's going to bounce up and surprise us all." He looked over half expecting her to pounce up hollering surprise or something, but again he knew it was only false hope. He just thought that if she could hear him she might wake up just to holler at him for being a pain in her ass like usual.
When he'd asked how she'd been doing though he hadn't expected the laugh, the hospital manual would have been really good right now since he must have said something wrong, but then she started to explain her situation and there was nothing he could do except listen. He chuckled when she talked about a book, "Nobodies smart enough to give you a book on tape?" All she had to do was lay back and close her eyes and it'd read for her. It sounded boring to Carter but to someone like her she might actually like it, or so he figured since he honestly didn't know that much about her. He nodded when she spoke up about not being able to leave her sister, he could understand that as he glanced back at Kayla for a second before returning his attention to Kaitlyn, "i'm sure you're not entirely bored, people must come and visit you guys a lot," he figured with their popularity there should be at least someone here all the time. Actually he'd been rather shocked when he hadn't seen someone here when he got there today. "Huh? Sorry? For what?" He shook his head with the wave of a hand, "It's fine, i'm all yours right now, you've got my full attention," not that he knew if that was something to be proud of or not, but he'd like to think it had been.
Hearing Kaitlyn actually agree with Carter and call the costume stupid should have been a major red flag for him, she'd never say anything bad about him and seemed to go to the ends of the earth just to stand up and defend the man, and yet hearing her do so was oddly refreshing and had him laugihng as he crossed his arms infront of his chest nodding, "that much glitter made me think that he belonged in a drag show instead of at a costume party," Carter loved glitter though, he just would not admit it. Imagining Chris in drag had him cracking right up though, if only he'd be there to take photos whenever that happened, but of course he knew it'd probably be a cold day in hell. Watching her sit up he just grinned taking a step towards her bed so there wasn't that awkward gap between them as she talked about starting over. "It'd probably be easiest to just start fresh," he grinned and nodded as he heard her introduction, and of course he had to laugh at the sparkles comment. "I'm Carter Andrews, and I think I wrote the book on loneliness." That was the truth, he was destined to be alone because his best friend had been a male and probably straight, how could Carter get past that?
"How about we just get off the topic of sparkles and loneliness, shall we?" He shook his head looking around the room letting his eyes fall back on Kayla as he watched her in her slumber. He looked back towards Kaitlyn giving her the most charming of smiles he could muster as he scratched the back of his neck unsure of what he should say next, "she never told you about all of the shit we'd gotten ourselves into over the past four years has she?" He asked curiously, if the two were going to start over she did not need to know all of those crazy stories about Carter / Kayla antics. "I'm not really good at chatting it up in the hospital, not gonna lie, I never know exactly what to say and uh," he looked back down at her cast and grinned, "Can I sign it?" He looked around knowing the staff always left markers for the occassion lying around.

Kait raised an eyebrow at Carter's comment, but played along regardless, looking over at the clock. "Nah, I think you're in the clear. He's got a commando chacha class right now." Kait was very careful to not imagine Chris walking through that door stark naked. Or, for that matter, in any level of dress. She didn't want him back here. She would figure all of that out once Kayla woke up. When Carter mentioned naked yoga, Kait gave him the benefit of a small smile, then tried to look regretful. "Oh, gee, I so would.. but I don't do naked yoga during visiting hours," she informed him, frowning. She could hardly believe she was discussing nudity with him, of all people, next to her sister's unresponsive body, but stranger things had happened. Besides, it was about time she started getting along with one of Kayla's closest friends.
Kait looked up as Carter moved the flowers over, trying to mask her surprise. She almost blurted 'what are you doing?' before stopping herself. She didn't want to seem rude. Besides, he explained himself soon enough, and when he did her small smile widened. "Oh, thanks. Now if she gets all anti-flowers, you can just say they were for me," she told him, quite touched by the gesture. She grinned when he said he hoped Kayla wouldn't be picky about her gifts. "Oh, you know her.. she'll wake up, and the first words out of her mouth will be 'what is this, a fucking garden? Didn't anybody get me chocolates?" Oh, how wonderful it would be to hear those words coming from her twin's mouth now. She nodded, agreeing wholeheartedly about the weirdness of seeing her sister so quiet. "It freaks me out. I'm not used to living in silence," she admitted. She didn't mention that she sometimes imagined Kayla speaking in the middle of the night; that was just a whole nother level of crazy.
As Carter continued speaking after her miniature rant about doctors, Kait could feel her mood improving drastically. Somehow, he'd known exactly the right thing to say. People had been coming in and out of the hospital to visit her and her sister, and every last one of them had been solemn, tentatively hopeful and sympathetic. While that was all good and nice, what Kait had needed all along was someone who understood Kayla as well as she did. And Carter seemed to be that person. Every last trace of dislike for him had been washed from her mind by the time he finished talking, and she looked brightly over to him. Seeing his glance at Kayla, she bit her lip slightly. For the time being, she felt she had a lot in common with him. "Now that you've said that, she's going to wait a bit longer, just to have the full effect," she informed him, sitting up a bit straighter.
She shook her head when he asked about a book on tape. "Nah, nobody even seems to realize how boring it is to sit in a hospital all day. I did go down to the children's ward, for a while, but after a certain point that gets depressing, too. There's nothing sadder than sick children," she sighed, "I would never be able to be a doctor. They must have to take shitloads of prozac." Her smile faded a bit. She didn't want to think about all of this - she needed a distraction. As Carter spoke again, she tried to think of a way to change the topic of conversation. However, she had to pause in order to answer his question. "Yeah, but they're all the same," she donned a mock soft, gentle voice, "hey, how are you? How's Kayla? How's your arm? Now I'm going to be funny, and ask about the hospital food - hahaha! Oh, dear, look at the time. Gotta run! Hang in there!" She rolled her eyes. "I'd rather watch the same TV show fifty times a day." Suddenly realizing Carter might have included himself in the 'people visiting' category, she added, "to be honest, you're the best visitor we've had. You're actually normal." Anything to keep him from leaving just yet.
"Cool," she laughed when he informed her that she had his full attention. She let out a guilty giggle when he compared Chris to a man in drag. She had to admit - it was funny. "All he was missing was some lipstick and a feather boa." Was it bad that she could picture him like that so clearly? What if he had been a cross-dresser back in England? She would never hear the end of it. It'd be a great story for the grandkids, though. When Carter said he'd written the book on loneliness, Kait gave him a quick once-over, patting a space on her bed. "Well, have a seat, Mister Lonely. I know hospital beds aren't comfortable.. but the chairs are worse." She nodded in happy agreement when he suggested they talk about different things, though she was mentally examining his claim to loneliness with great care. What hidden meanings could be taken from such a comment?
"Oh, she's told me a few stories. But we can just pretend I know nothing," Kait offered. Then, she smirked at his sudden awkwardness. He was cute. Not as muscular and manly as Chris, but he had a certain charm. "Oh, for sure," she nodded, looking down at her cast. There were a few signatures there already, as well as the odd message, but still plenty of space for further additions. She reached past Carter to the pen on the dresser, handing it to him with a subtly flirtatious look. "Just don't write anything too rude, my parents enjoy reading it." She offered her arm. "I physically had to stop them from covering it with 'I love you' and 'get well soon' and flowers and hearts and stuff," she told him, pulling an expression of disgust.

Carter looked over his shoulder at the door once more expecting someone to walk through naked, but as she joked about the chacha class he just turned to her and grinned, "gets around doesn't he?" He had no idea what the chacha was, but it's not like he needed to know the dance for the joke to be funny. The thought of this beautiful sister getting out her yoga mat and stripping had him smirking some, he just couldn't help himself, but the smirk disappeared as she told him it wouldn't be happening. "Well maybe if you did the naked yoga you'd get more visitors, and then you wouldn't have to watch the same shows five times over and sit in here all alone." He so just brought the beginning of their conversation right back into it bringing it full circle, and he couldn't have been happier as he wore a stupid grin on his face right now.
"Exactly!" Those hadn't been his intentions but if she hated the flowers he could have said he'd given them to Kaitlyn. He would have brought something for her had the two been on better terms, but today those aggravations from before seemed to be a thing of the past as they were actually joking around and having a decent conversation with one another. He laughed and his eyebrows shot up when he'd heard her swear, something that didn't happen all too often so he always found it humorous, but he soon nodded in absolute agreement. "I knew I forgot something, I bet the smell alone would have woken her right up." It was almost funny how Carter hadn't brought her any, but he figured with her being in a coma and all they wouldn't be too much help, and plus it's not like the doctors would let her eat solids the second she woke up, so in the end they'd just be a tease for her and he didn't want to do that. "You could always learn ventriloquism and throw your voice into her mouth so it looks like she's talking, and then you could lay in bed at night and have conversations with her, how fucked up would that be?"
He knew there was no chance in hell that he'd known Kayla as well as her sister had, but at the same time he liked to think that he'd gotten to know a good deal about her in the few years they'd known each other. He had found it funny that him and her sister had never hit it off though considering he was around a lot, but all that vanished from his mind as it felt that these two had some sort of connection today, through kayla these two had found common ground strong enough to support a friendship, or at least an awkward friendship. "She's going to be pissed she doesn't have as much of an audience though," Kayla had loved an audience but it's not like he could give her one, that is unless if he stuffed every nurse into the room to wait anxiously for her to spring to life. "Let's just hope there's no second act, for both your benefits." He could see the toll that it was taking on Kaitlyn and didn't wish that pain upon anyone, friend or enemy.
"You think?" He asked, his words laced with sarcasm as she told him that sick children had been depressing, "here I thought sick kids were the comedic relief of this entire place," he'd came in contact with a few in his time and they always seemed so upbeat, it was absolutely insane but he could do nothing but admire them at such a young age. "If I was a doctor I think i'd prescribe myself something a bit stronger than prozac, just saying," he put his hands up infront of him defensively before chuckling, it was the truth though. When she talked about how all the questions had been the same he just sighed snapping his fingers, "Damnit, and I was just about to ask if you'd figured out the surprise in the tuna casserole. One hint, it's not fish," He smirked giving her a playful wink as he couldn't help himself. When she called him normal though a boisterous laugh escaped his lips as he shook his head, "You really have been in here too long if you think i'm normal," it wasn't that far from the truth, but at least his laugh did calm down some as he just grinned now looking over at her, "normal, that's a good one, i'll have to tell Tim later, he'll get a kick out of it."
Carter's grin grew to a smirk as he glanced over in her direction before shooting a look near the door hoping Chris wasn't standing there, "I should buy him some for Christmas, a feather boa and lip stick that is, and maybe a nice silk dress or something," He could imagine buying a complete drag outfit for him and putting the present on his bed for him to open when he got home. Carter would have a video camara to film the entire thing because he was sure it'd be that hilarious. As he heard her patting the bed after moving over some he just smiled faintly and shrugged, "you don't want my tank ass hogging all the bed," he loved how he'd called himself a tank ass when really he'd been a damn twig practically, the man definitely could stand for a tad more meat on the bone. "But I guess, if you say so and all, I could sit down for a few minutes," he moved over to the bed and cautiously sat down beside her, this being the closest they'd ever came to one another.
He grinned and nodded when she said they could pretend, but of course he still wondered what sort of things she had heard about him. He watched as she leaned next to him to grab the marker, and his eyes caught hers as she passed it to him with that look, though he was usually oblivious to all things considered flirting so he didn't think too much of it. He just nodded as he found a free space on the cast and uncapped the marker. all that glitters is not gold, and then he drew a vampire face (small of course) but with the fangs and Chris-esque hair, and underneath that he wrote it's what i've always been told, and then he signed his name very legible so all could read. Of course the glitter and picture had been a stab at Chris, but her parents would not know that. He wasn't sure if this would piss her off but his other jabs at the man seemed appreciated so he thought he could get away with this. "Oh, and I should write this too," he leaned down and jotted down a simple don't lose hope and smiled as he capped the marker. "I, uh, yeah, hope that's alright." He was impressed with his glitter comment though as he smirked looking down at the cast.

"Oh, yeah. The only reason I keep him around is his sexy body," Kait joked, raising her eyebrows suggestively. What? She could crack jokes like that with Carter, it wasn't a crime. The two of them had been tiptoeing around eachother for quite long enough. And just imagine how hilarious it would be for Kayla to wake up and find that they'd become friends? She noted his sneaky smirk at the mention of naked yoga, and rolled her eyes. As if she would ever let him watch her do that... as if she would ever do that in the first place! She had to admit, though, his next words were quite impressive. "Hmm, I never thought of it that way. How come Kayla never told me you were so clever?" she asked. Actually, her sister might have mentioned Carter's sense of humour once or twice, but Kait had never really paid attention.
She simply grinned at his response to her idea about the flowers, glad that she'd managed to come up with something useful. Nodding as he continued, she sighed. "There's something the doctors haven't tried... holding a box of chocolates under her nose," she said sarcastically. Because they'd done oh so much for her sister already. She knew comas were normal in a hospital atmosphere, but it just seemed like they'd all given up and handed Kayla over to the whim of the fates. What did it honestly matter to them, whether she woke up or whether somebody pulled the plug? Kait started to frown, unable to keep thoughts like that at bay for long, but Carter somehow distracted her with his mention of ventriloquism. She burst out laughing at the idea. "Honestly, where do you come up with this stuff?" she gasped, "I may be lonely and bored, but I'm not completely crazy!" She curled over, trying to calm herself down, "throw my voice into her mouth..." she giggled, glad for the comic relief.
Kait looked around the empty room, trying to imagine how Kayla would feel if she woke up to this. The beeping of a machine, the squeaking of wheels in the hall, and Kait laying next to her, staring zombie-like at the TV. If she had enough energy, she would probably throw a fit. "She wouldn't even notice all the presents and get well cards. She'd just look over at me and go, 'you're it?!'" Kait smiled. If that happened, she would be too busy crying for joy to care about anything else. "Yes, let's," she nodded, knowing she would not be able to go through anything like this again and survive. She was barely hanging on as it was. She practically felt manic, one minute spent hopeful, the next in despair. She stuck her tongue out at Carter as he commented on the sick children. "Oh, shut up. Let me complain in peace," she ordered, giving him a playful look.
"True, true," Kait agreed, "I'd prescribe myself a whole pharmacy." And then some. Honestly, Kait would not be the most trustworthy doctor. She wouldn't reccommend herself to anyone. She pulled a face of disgust as he mentioned tuna casserole. "That's one mystery I don't want to solve. I just eat what they put in front of me and try not to think about it. Don't ask, don't tell," she shuddered, "the jell-o's good, though. You can always trust the jell-o. And the burgers your parents sneak you." She grinned slyly. That was why she loved her dad: he never came empty-handed. When Carter burst out laughing, she jumped, not expecting such a reaction. Though, as he explained himself, she found herself joining in. "Oh no, you're right. Kayla had better wake up before I go completely insane."
Just when she'd managed to calm herself down, Carter went and put the image of a cross-dressing Chris in her head. Another fit of giggles spilled from her as she looked over at her companion. "He would not be impressed," she told him needlessly, resting back on her pillow, "I'd love to see his face when he opens that giftl." She still felt the tiniest bit guilty about saying such things behind Chris's back, but she also felt better. She raised an eyebrow when Carter called himself a tank ass. "Oh, please. I've seen a tank ass, and yours isn't even close. Get on the bed," she demanded, beaming with satisfaction when he consented. By this time, she had decided that she was definitely going to seduce him. At least to some extent. Just to prove that she still had some sort of control and influence in the world. However, when he barely noticed her obvious flirting, she began to doubt herself. How oblivious was this kid? No wonder he never got laid. He wouldn't know opportunity if it gave him a lap dance. She had already decided that she quite liked him, but seriously.. it was time to pull out the big guns.
She watched as he wrote on her cast, pondering her next move. She could do like they did in the movies: grab him and kiss him until he stopped fighting. Somehow, she wasn't sure that would work. If she really wanted to get to Chris, this would have to be a mutual thing.. She smirked at his little drawing. It was so obviously Chris, and yet, only people who were in on the joke would know. As he finished writing his name, she began to panic, realizing she still hadn't come up with a plan of action. Fortunately, he leaned back down to add to his message, and the answer came to her. As he completed the final bit, she smiled. "The best comment yet," she told him. It was the truth, too. She waited a moment, then made her move. "So you really don't like Chris, huh?" She looked up at him, expression mysterious.

"Ew," just the thought of Chris having a sexy body was weird, but then again to each their own and if something like that was what floated her boat how could he object? Look as his taste in people, he'd found Tim's body extremely satisfying on the eyes, but other people might not feel the same. He hoped that'd be the case, there was no idea he could compete for his friend with a body as scrawny as his had been, but wait how could he compete anyway when he'd been a male? He groaned trying to clear all the thoughts of Timmy from his mind, he did not need all that added confusion while he was here visiting and trying to make Kaitlyn feel better about the situation. "It was probably just because she was too busy telling you how hot and sexy I was, but don't worry, i'd rather be known as sexy than clever," he joked knowing Kayla probably hadn't been saying things like that, but it's not like she could very well defend herself right now could she? He smirked looking over at her motionless body, "it's nice putting words in her mouth that she can't deny," he teased imagining her spunky ass to wake up just to argue with him.
He quirked a brow when she told him the chocolates hadn't even been attempted by the doctors, "you're kidding me, PhD's and they don't even know how to wake a Todd up?" He shook his head looking around, "This won't do, this just won't do," he smirked as motioned that he'd be right back, and with that he left the room and walked down the hall. He found what he'd been looking for, a vending machine right near the elevators, and pulled out a bill as he slid it into the machine and punched in the numbers for a chocolate bar, and as he watched the wrapper plummet to the bottom of the machine he just grinned and knelt down to reach for it. He rushed back to the room waving it for her sister to see, "Remember to have them spell my name right when I go into the record books for successfully curing this patient with a hershey bar," he chuckled tearing open the wrapper with his teeth as he walked over near Kayla, but as he started to move the chocolate her way he saw how beat up she was and just sighed backing away and putting the chocolate on the table. This had really been the first good look he'd gotten of her, and it had scared him some to say the least. He walked back over away from Kayla not being able to deal with that right now, and just laughed as her sister exclaimed she hadn't been crazy, "enough time around the hospital and it'll happen soon enough, so i'm just giving you options when you reach your breaking point." He knew that he'd be crazy by now had it been him in this situation, so he had to give her points for being able to stay sane longer.
Carter chuckled and nodded, that sounded so much like Kayla no matter how bad it'd sounded, she had loved the attention and would eat it right up. "She's got one ahead of the other actors though when she's goes out for a soap opera role, this might all just be method acting for when she plays some comatose patient on guiding light or something," he burst out laughing, leave it to him to pick on her current state, but it was all in good fun and he sure as hell wasn't doing it to be mean to her. As he kept the jokes going, it was just his form of coping with everything that was going on, he just had to laugh as she told him to shut up and one of his cute little grins appeared as he shrugged his shoulders some, "Here I am being all nice as can be and you tell me to shut up? How rude," he pouted some but that didn't last long as he couldn't stop grinning. It was nice to know that he could make her sister laugh and not worry about Kayla for a little while.
He nodded at the pharmacy comment, "I'd be screwed since most the meds you can't take with alcohol, so i'd be all over the radar," he could not imagine his life sober, or at least he couldn't until things were going in a direction that he liked. He hated this whole thing with his father and the constant back and forth with Tim, so of course instead of taking the medicine route he just would go and drown his sorrows for the night. "You never know though, maybe it'd make you feel better about yourself knowing there are people out there a lot worse off than you," that might help the situation when he was having a bad day, but on a good day he could see where that'd be a righteous pain in the ass. "Either that or at least you'd get to hear the fun ones about the RC cars being lodged in someones ass or something," his thoughts drifted to Jackass and he just laughed, sometimes the shit he watched was just too much. He quirked a brow as he looked over at her after he'd heard the word burgers, "you mean to tell me you actually break the rules?" He gasped, kaitlyn seemed the straight laced type that followed every single rule set infront of her, so of course it was weird to hear about her parents smuggling food in for her. He just nodded when she said kayla better wake up, he hoped she would soon and stop making everyone around her worry so much, and he also knew that the longer she stayed in a coma the more damage it did to her brain. He'd heard about it on television but never thought he'd see a coma victim in real life.
"Isn't that the fun of it?" He asked as she let him know Chris wouldn't like it, but Carter didn't mind and would do it only for his benefit really. "Of course you'd have to be there, you couldn't miss something like that, so we'd just have to say we were working on some class assignment or something," he then thought about it a little more and shook his head, "on second thought let's not mention the assignment, Tim would see right through that and know something was going on." Tim knew him too well and Carter had always been a slacker, so he couldn't see himself actually doing projects in the dorm. When he'd heard her demand practically he just nodded and squirmed into a spot where he'd been comfortable, "there is that better? I never knew you were so demanding, but then again you are Kayla's twin so I guess you have to share some qualities," he teased grinning broadly at the girl sitting fairly close to him now.
He didn't think much of how close they were when he was signing her cast, and when he'd finished he'd grinned proudly nodding, "sure beats get well soon right?" He had hated how that's all people really said, honestly he should just start writing get well now everywhere since isn't that what people should want? Soon meant there'd be more pain and agony so why wish that upon someone? He hadn't expected that question to come from her as he looked up into her eyes curious, that look of mystery causing his mind to get sent into a loop of suggestions as to what she was up to, but really all he could do was shake his head some not breaking eye contact. "I don't, not at all, why?" That question had confused him but not as much as the way she was looking at him, what in the world was going on in that pretty head of hers? "You do though, right?" He had no idea what to say so instead of making it awkward he tried to keep some sort of conversation going.

Kait couldn't help but burst into another fit of giggles at Carter's reaction to her comment about Chris having a sexy body, raising an eyebrow at his groan. She had no idea what sort of thoughts were going through his head at the moment, but she wasn't in any mood to pry. She had a secret agenda to carry out. And she was eager to move away from the topic of a particular British man. "I don't see why you can't be known as both," Kait told him, lips twisting mischievously, "you know what they say: if you've got it, flaunt it." As usual, when he looked to Kayla, she couldn't help but glance in the direction of the other bed, as well. "Well, I'm sure she agrees with every word, anyway. Just like she thinks I'm the most awesome, gorgeous sister anyone could ask for." Kait was joking, but she couldn't smile, remembering for the millionth time her last words to Kayla. At that moment, she'd been anything but awesome and gorgeous. If only Kayla would wake up, she would be able to undo all of those things and somehow make up for all of it.
Fortunately, Carter actually was quite funny, and brought her spirits back up as he spoke again. "Alright," she watched him leave with an amused expression. He was definitely going to get chocolate. As he re-entered, candy in hand, she shook her head. "It'll be the medical breakthrough of the year. I should probably just get your autograph now, soon you'll be famous and living in one of those high-security mansions on some tropical island." Kait smirked, watching his enthusiastic opening of the chocolate bar. When he didn't actually make an attempt at waking up Kayla, however, she understood completely. "I'll use it to calm her down when she starts threatening to throw her gross hospital food across the room," she decided, looking at the chocolate where it sat on the table. It seemed strangely out of place there, but it made her feel better. "Well, thankyou?" she replied to his suggestion that, when she really did lose her marbles, she could take up ventriloquism. She wouldn't be surprised if it did happen... she wouldn't leave, but she definitely didn't want to stay for much longer.
Kait rolled her eyes when Carter mentioned Kayla having an advantage when trying out for a role as a comatose person in a soap opera. "Always looking on the up side, aren't you?" she commented sarcastically. Of course, she couldn't keep a smile from her face for too long and soon joined in on his laughter. If only Kayla could have heard that one.. She stuck her tongue out at him for calling her rude. He really was quite adorable; she could understand why Kayla hung out with him so much. She raised an eyebrow when he talked about mixing meds with alcohol. "Ah, well, whatever gets you through the day," she said, then grinned. "I don't think either of us needs to worry about being a doctor, though." Kait shrugged as he continued speaking, figuring the whole thing was really a matter of perspective. "That's one way to look at it," she agreed, "but I still don't think I'd be able to spend every day around sick people." She laughed when he mentioned the RC cars. "Doctors must see a lot of interesting stuff.... and a lot of stupidity."
Kait scoffed at his display of surprise. "Please. It's not like I have special dietary concerns or anything, it only makes sense that I should eat what I want," she pointed out, adding, "certain rules were meant to be broken." Then, she nodded, agreeing with how angering Chris would be the whole point of giving him such gifts for Christmas and smiling when Carter said she would have to be there. "We could just... send Tim for some groceries or something? That wouldn't be suspicious at all!" Once he was on the bed, Kait smirked to herself, glad that everything was going according to plan. "Sometimes you have to tell people what you want," she defended her demanding nature, shrugging as if it wasn't that big a deal.
"Definitely," she grinned, pretending to inspect her cast. Really, she was trying to determine what the best time to propose her plan would be. She didn't want to scare him off, and she didn't want to give him the wrong idea. She worried she might offend him, as well. In spite of her previous dislike for him, it looked like the two of them might actually be able to be friends. As their eyes connected, she knew that now would be as good a time as any, and she was careful not to give him a reason to look away from her. Biting her lip slightly, she tilted her head to the side, half-smiling. "Actually, I'm kind of done with him. Which is where you come in..." Kait shifted her weight, bringing herself even closer to Carter. "The way I see it," she lowered her voice, "both of us have a reason to dislike him. He's disrupted our lives. We can't just sit by and let him get away with it, Carter." She moved toward him the tiniest bit more, placing her good hand gently on his arm. "We need to get back at him. I broke up with him, but I know for a fact he's not over me. So..." Kait raised an eyebrow, hoping Carter would at least be smart enough to put the pieces of the puzzle together.
ooc i can't even describe how weird this reply was to write.. sorry if it's all over the place

Carter thought it was somewhat strange that she was flirting with him, especially since he remembered everything she had been saying about him the last time they met up, but instead of that raising a black flag he didn't think anything of it at the time. If anything he'd actually liked when she complimented him, even if he had a feeling there was something more to it than just simple flirting, he wasn't entirely dumb and could tell that something was up with this encounter. "Flaunt it? Eh, not sure if that'd be the best thing to do, I might make the rest of mankind jealous and we wouldn't want that now would we?" He had never found himself to be the most attractive male in the world, but he knew he had at least some looks going for him. He couldn't help but laugh and nod when they were talking about Kayla agreeing with everything they were saying, "aren't you like her only sister? Of course you'd have to be the best, you have no competition." He chuckled, from his perspective right now he could tell that Kaitlyn had been a good sister to Kayla.
He seriously did like to think that the chocolate under the nose trick would work, but as he got back into the room and opened it he just couldn't bring himself to do it. He had no problem cracking jokes in the room away from her, but as he got right up beside her he just froze before backing away after placing the bar down. "You might want to wait for that autograph," though he should make a mental reminder to ask the doctors to do it when they came back into the room at some point if he was still there. He could see their faces though as he brought up the chocolate, they'd think he was absolutely insane, but if it worked he'd be the one laughing as they just stood there dumbfounded. "Is the food really that bad?" He had always heard horror stories about it but hadn't ever really had to eat any himself. "I'm guessing she's not going to be able to eat normally for a little while with this happening huh? We should melt it and put it in her IV so she's all chocolate high until she gets better," He could just imagine it right now, a Hershey drip with Kayla looking high as hell on sugar the entire time. "Welcome," He knew she wasn't being serious, but he still couldn't help but grin as he watched her facial expressions thinking about it.
He nodded proudly when he'd heard the obvious remark, "well when it comes to everyone but me I guess," he had found that rather amusing that he could be so positive when it came to all those around him, but when it'd been him he was usually all doom and gloom. His laughter soon stopped and he'd became as serious as he could again and nodded, "you're probably right, I doubt they'll let me into any doctor colleges with me miserable grades, but you can't tell me your grades are all that bad, are they?" She might not have been talking about grades, but that was always the first thing that he thought of when it came to doctors, they were smart. She had to be smart, or at least he thought she looked smart enough, so she could definitely pull off being a doctor. He shook his head staying silent for a moment as he tried to think about it, "I don't think i'd be able to either, i'd turn into some, uh, you know where you freak out thinking you have whatever they do, hypo something? I know for a fact i'd start making shit up," Carter never really worried about getting sick or anything, but was sure he'd start to worry if he was around illness constantly. "If I could make a hospital where only stupidity is allowed in there i'd be all set, i'd have so much fun listening to their stories, but i'd probably have to wear diapers i'd be pissing myself laughing so hard all day," he stopped talking and his face became as serious as could be and a red stain livened up his cheeks. "I mean, yeah, you know that's just a joke right?" He pulled his pants out a bit to show her the waistband of his boxers just so she didn't think he'd been wearing diapers.
"You have no idea how jealous Kayla is going to be knowing that you're free to eat anything, better watch your face so she doesn't bust your chin with one of those metal serving trays." He could see it now, her chucking the tray across the room and hitting her beautiful sister dislocating her jaw, and then she'd be stuck eating everything through a straw with her jaw wired shut. Honestly Carter was rather morbid having thoughts like this, but considering he was sitting next to a girl fighting for her life he thought it necessary, it at least was taking his mind off of that fact and it made him feel better about being in here. He chuckled and nodded once more as he smoothed out his pantleg sitting there on the hospital bed, "we'd have to get Tim out of the room, he'd be so pissed if he was in there and watched Chris open that. He keeps telling me to go easy on the man but I just can't, you know how it goes right? The guy just doesn't deserve a break, or actually-" he looked at her broken arm and smirked, but soon the happiness fell from his face and he shook his head, "nah, nobody deserves that," even if he'd hated Chris he wouldn't want him to break his arm, especially being a drummer. He sighed but nodded understanding her completely, "it does make things easier when someone tells you exactly what they want," he wished that Tim could make it clear what had been between him and Carter, but he couldn't complain too much considering he'd been doing the same exact thing.
He had to grin when she hadn't hollered at him for everything that he'd put on the cast, but he had a feeling there had been something else on her mind, a hidden agenda so to speak. When she told him she'd been done with Chris he didn't care too much, "honestly a guy like that doesn't deserve someone like you,", from what he'd seen today she'd been great and he couldn't understand what she'd seen in Chris. "Where I come in?" He was rather confused but thought he should hear her out, and he kept focus on her as she moved closer to him confused about her actions. He shook his head when she kept talking, "we shouldn't have to, he should have to pay for the shit he's done to us," of course he had no idea what he'd done to Kaitlyn, but now was not a time to ask questions. The only time he took his attention away from her eyes was when he felt her hand on his arm, but he only flicked his sight down there for a moment to look before bringing it back up to her face inching closer. "So...." he stretched the words out though saw that she'd been done talking, and of course his mind had been somewhat capable of filling in the blanks. "So you want to make him jealous, or just piss him off for being an absolute dick, right?" He was still somewhat clueless though, "Are you sure this is what you want to do?" The idea of him kissing her definitely would strike rage in Chris, but he didn't want to hurt her in any way, and she didn't say she was over him yet did she? She was so close to him and yet he could do nothing but hesitate not wanting to upset her.

Kait laughed as Carter played along with her suggestion about flaunting it. "The rest of mankind won't know what hit them," she decided, wondering whether she was laying the flirting on a bit too thick. It would've been easier if Carter weren't so damn charming. Then, at least, she would have had to force herself to act as if she liked him. She rolled her eyes at his blatant use of logic, letting out a long sigh. "Fine, you have a point. But that means I'm also the worst sister, so really.." she raised an eyebrow at him, challenging her companion to figure that out. Of course, when he couldn't bring himself to test their chocolate theory, her expression became slighly more sympathetic. They both knew it wouldn't have worked, anyway. "Oh, well. The doctors probably wouldn't believe it if it did work, anyway," she offered. She had been trying so hard not to think about how Kayla's situation, but now the rush of realization came back to her. She glanced at her sister, half ready to grab the chocolate and try it out for herself.
When Carter asked about the food, Kait turned to him thoughtfully, glad to have another distraction. In reality, it wasn't as bad as all the stereotypes claimed. Sure, it was kind of suspicious sometimes, and she wouldn't touch the fish if it were the last meal in the building, but overall it could pass as a meal. "It's alright, really. But once in a while, you just want a burger." She laughed. She'd never really been into burgers before this, but they had become her own form of life support over the past little while. As Carter pointed out that they would have to melt the chocolate in order to give it to Kayla, Kait nodded. "It shouldn't be too hard. I mean, it takes the doctors like two seconds to change the things. I don't know about filling them, though.. I'm sure we'd find a way." Kayla would probably love them forever if they managed to pull it off.
"Oh," Kait gave Carter a somewhat concerned look. She wasn't used to caring about him as a person, but when he mentioned his lack of optimism for himself, she felt a small bit of her heart go out to him. At least he could make her more positive. And at least he could laugh about it. She smirked at his serious expression when he began talking about becoming a doctor. "Well, my grades aren't bad, but this is highschool. I can't imagine med school. And you have to do it right every time," she shuddered. She was a perfectionist, but she still enjoyed having room to make mistakes. "Besides, it takes years, and being around sick people all day is really not my thing." Just in case he hadn't figured that out already. "Hypo..." she drifted off, furrowing her brow as she tried to conjure up the word. "Hypogly.. no, that's diabetes. Hypocha... I'm sure there's a 'ch' in there somewhere..." she looked up at him helplessly, "I know what you mean, though."
Kait chuckled as Carter told her about his idea for a hospital of stupidity. Of course, at his embarassment over the diapers thing, she burst into a fit of laughter. "No, I believed that you actually wear diapers," she told him sarcastically, gasping for breath. She hadn't laughed this much since before the accident, and her abdominal muscles weren't used to being flexed in such a manner. Just as she was calming down, the image of his face red with embarassment had her cracking up all over again. She winced at the thought of Kayla swinging a metal serving tray at her. "I think I'll hold off on the hamburgers once she wakes up," she decided. There was a hint of remorse in her voice, though; she would miss real food. Maybe she could sneak out into the hall and eat it.. though Kayla would probably smell it on her breath when she came back in.
Kait bit her lip when Carter mentioned Tim. At her party, he had been her ally in a way, helping her stand up to Chris. What would he think of her little idea? Hopefully, Carter would be smart enough not to tell him. "Yeah," she nodded, understanding for a moment how Carter felt about Chris. She remembered how he'd refused to understand what she was going through - how he kept pushing the idea that everything would be alright, when all she wanted was for him to be quiet. "He can be really overbearing." This was more to herself than Carter, but she glanced at him, smiling. When he referred to her arm, she lifted it almost proudly. "I've never broken a bone before, you know. It sucks, but it's also life experience in a way." At his agreement with her statement about telling people what she wanted, she gave him a somewhat searching look, feeling that his mind was wandering a little. "It certainly does." Maybe instead of hinting at her idea for revenge, she should just come right out and say it..
When Carter told her that Chris didn't deserve her, Kait felt a bit guilty. If anything, she didn't deserve him.. sure, she was mad, but he was a good person. She just wanted to prove to him that she didn't need him. It was all she could do to keep from rolling her eyes when Carter still didn't understand what she was getting at. Sure, he was funny, but funny only got you so far. It was a good thing he played guitar and all that; he wouldn't make it anywhere academically. She did smile a bit when he sympathized with her, noticing his eyes flicker to her hand on his arm. Maybe he was starting to understand. He definitely looked a bit nervous. "So," she replied, raising an eyebrow. Ah, yes, she could see him connecting the dots in his mind. As he spoke, she smiled brightly. "Exactly!" When, still, he hesitated, she rolled her eyes. "You're such a wimp," she mumbled, moving her hand from his arm to the back of his neck and pulling him smoothly forward. When their lips connected, she was a bit surprised.. it was absolutely nothing like kissing Chris. There was no spark, and Carter's face was creepily smooth. She was about to pull away, when she heard a sound at the door.
ooc Sorry this took so long! And sorry it's kind of lengthy! You can just ignore the earlier bits if you want =P I'll probably bring Tim in now.

Tim felt a bit bad about not visiting Kayla and Kait sooner. He may not have been as close to Kayla as Carter, but they were fairly good friends, and he quite liked Kait, too. Though, he wasn't sure what to think about her and Chris' so-called 'break.' Chris didn't seem to think it was entirely over, and Tim thought maybe Kait had just been freaking out. As much as he liked Chris, he knew the man had a tendency to do the wrong thing at the wrong time (for example, dress up as Edward Cullen), and if he'd made a similar mistake when Kait was in such a bad place.. well, Tim wouldn't exactly blame her for wanting to get rid of him. All the same, his only reason for visiting the hospital was to see how they were doing. Not to check up on his room mate's ex-girlfriend or anything, no. Though Chris had given him a book to bring Kait. A biography of some big name fashion person, apparently brand new, which she 'might.. er, love' according to Chris. Really, having him moping around the dorm was not doing wonders for Tim's mood.
"Uh, Kayla and Kaitlyn Todd?" he said to the woman at the reception desk, who was glancing at him suspiciously from behind her bright green librarian glasses. She gave him somewhat confusing directions, but he thanked her anyway, taking off down the hall. To tell the truth, hospitals made him nervous. They were painted that uneasy shade of green, for one, and everybody was in a hurry. Plus, you could practically taste the sadness and boredom in the air. It was impossible not to feel hopeless in one of these places. How Kaitlyn could survive sitting there next to her comatose sister day after day was beyond him... hopefully she would like the book. She must have gotten loads already, though, but if all else failed Tim could just blame Chris. After a while of wandering around with no company but the squeaking of his shoes on the too-clean floor, Tim finally found the right hallway. He started down it, pausing for a moment in front of a vending machine. He didn't stay long; even the candy was depressing.
He walked along, glancing back and forth between the room numbers, the book clutched in his hand. It didn't take him long to come to the right one. Finally, he walked in, relieved to have found it. Unfortunately, there was already somebody else there. Tim stopped, hearing the book slip to the floor with a muffled thud. He opened his mouth to say something, then closed it, unable to speak. It felt as if his heart had plummeted to the center of the Earth. A lump rose in his throat, and he experienced a strange numbing sensation throughout his body. Right in front of him, before his very eyes, Kait and Carter were locked in a kiss. Tim had always found it hard to consider Carter only a friend. He had always found it hard to accept that they could never be anything more than that. But never before had he experienced seeing him with somebody else. It was a thousand times worse, and though he was certain there couldn't possibly be any form of romance between them (either that, or he was simply in denial), it still felt like somebody was stabbing him in the chest. Even when Kait pulled away, Tim continued to stare, not quite comprehending what had just happened.
"Uh," he opened his mouth again, surprised by the sound of his own voice. Clearing his throat, he bent down to pick up the book. Once he had looked away from Carter and Kait, he didn't look back, staring at the bed instead. "I brought you this," he held up the gift, turning his gaze to the cover, "My Dear Bomb. It's by Yohji Yamamoto and Ai Mitsuda.. I guess you know who they are." Bracing himself, he stepped further into the room, placing it on the bed. "Chris picked it out." His eyes flickered to Kait's, riddled with a disappointment which carefully covered the hurt. "He spent hours. I know you've probably been given a lot of books, but he said it was brand new, and that you wouldn't have read it. He hopes you... get well soon." Tim swallowed, unable to keep his eyes from drifting to Carter. Just as quickly, he looked away. "Anyway, I should get going." He turned around, wanting to get out of there as quickly as possible. He could already feel tears threatening at the corners of his eyes, and couldn't think of a single way to explain them that wouldn't involve revealing his pathetic love for his best friend.
ooc I made some stuff up about Chris, hope you don't mind, Kayla =P I didn't say anything about Kayla waking up, but feel free to just throw it in whenever. & Heather, I dunno if you want to do one more post or wait for Kayla, but either works for me.

Kayla had not been aware of everyone being so worried and concerned over her condition. She had been oblivious because she had been comatose. It wouldn't have been what she had wanted, Kayla wasn't one for staying quiet or still for long. She liked to be active. She hated sitting still and found it difficult in some situation. It wasn't that she couldn't do it, it was more that she didn't want to. She just couldn't stand being in the same place for long. It wasn't something she liked, but she could do it, on occasion depending on the situation, it was easier for her to do it, but she didn't like it. Not for a long period of time anyway. it wasn't something she found fun, she liked having fun as appose to just sitting doing nothing. That was just boring, really boring. Who wanted to do that anyway? Boring people, that's who. Kayla liked to live life to the fullest she could do, so for her to have been lying in hospital for a long time, it was not normal to her, if she had been awake it would have driven her crazy, but she wouldn't have been still anyway.
As she began to stir, she had no idea of what she was about to see, she wouldn't have been prepared, she wasn't prepared. She should have known her sister would have tried to steal her thunder somehow, they both liked attention, but Kayla liked it in a different way, and even though she wanted to be an actress, she didn't exactly want the fame of people wanting to know about her personal life. She wanted that part to be normal and to just be known to people she knew, because that was what she wanted, why would she want everyone knowing things about her which weren't for others to know. If she wanted people to know something she would tell them. Kayla's eyes fluttered as she began to wake up, she groaned at the pain, she felt terrible. Why had it happened? She remembered arguing with her sister about something. About Chris, then kait had mentioned Aidan, the last thing she remembered was calling her a goldigging whore before seeing the lights of the lorry as they crashed into the side of it. She blamed herself, it was her fault. She didn't even know why she had such a hate towards him. Maybe it was because she felt he wasn't good enough for her sister, maybe it was because she didn't like the fact that he was so rich and flaunted his money.
Kayla winced in pain as she sat up the best she could do. She looked around the room expecting someone to notice she was awake, but no one had said anything yet. Then she looked around the other way. holy shit! she swore. what the fuck? she said as more a question than an answer, as loud as she could. That was just fucked up, as far as she was aware, Carter liked Tim, and her sister, Kait was going out with Chris, as much as she had hated that, but now she just wanted to give him another chance. She was seeing things differently now, she had obviously been in a while judging by the amount of cards and gifts in the room. Her thoughts went back to Carter and her sister and she gave them a look, wanting them to explain. It was a few seconds after she had woken up that Timmy had arrived too. 'Things are about to get ugly' she said to herself. She had no idea why she had just caught one of her friends and her sister making out, and someone who didn't like Chris? What was going on? Maybe she was seeing things, delirious, she was on a drip after all...didn't they make people all loopy and weird? This was not right, she wanted an explanation, and she wanted it now!
it's lame, I know...but the next one will be better, sorry.

He could feel the conversation had taken a turn as most of what she was saying was simple statements, and he could tell as he looked at her that she had something else on her mind, something more pressing than burgers and chocolate. He looked around the room for a second wondering if a map to her brain had been printed on one of the walls or something, but when his eyes fell back against their arms he was right back at square one. She was doing a good job giving him all the pieces of the puzzle, and as she touched him it seemed he'd seen things a lot brighter and was doing a better job at putting them all together. His stomach instantly balled up in nerves as he stared at her hand seducing his arm, but as he heard her voice he looked up at her face with an almost blank expression. He did not want to show his nerves, or the excitement that he was starting to feel rise in his chest as his heart picked up pace, or really the worry that he had about all that would happen afterwards, but still you could see all those balled up emotions if you looked carefully into his eyes.
She did not have time to do that though as she brought her hand up around his neck and pulled him in for that kiss, and instantly as their lips connected Carter felt a different emotion in the pit of his stomach, but this time he'd had a harder time figuring it out. Perhaps it'd been one of remorse or guilt, or even some sick and twisted pleasure, but as he kissed her back he just had to forget about it. This may be only a revenge kiss but he didn't want her to think he'd been bad at it, but that was just something stupid that had to do with his pride and all. Something felt weird about this, maybe it had to do with the fact this was all feeling too forced on the both of them, but then again it's not like it should feel any other way right? Was this supposed to be just a kiss or what was he supposed to be doing right now? He didn't think it'd hurt to get into it just a little more, maybe it wouldn't feel so awkward if both of his hands weren't in his lap, so with that he picked a hand up and brought it to her cheek as he brushed some hair back behind her ear deepening the kiss just a little as he'd finally felt he'd had some power after her initial move.
Thud, the initial sound had startled him some, but what in the world had it been? It was only just the two of them and Kayla in the room, and the sound surely wasn't big enough that she'd fallen off the bed nor was that possible in the first place, so he didn't think all too much of it, but when he'd felt Kait pull away he couldn't help but gulp feeling an all new sense of nerves wash over him. Please only be a doctor, please only be a doctor he heard the voice and it'd all been over as he knew exactly who was standing at the door, and instantly his head dropped as he stared at his hand bunching up some of the sheets that were on the bed. Quickly, not wanting to stay seated on the bed longer than he should have although he'd overstayed that welcome a while ago, he stepped up from the bed and started to smooth his shirt out as it'd been a usual nervous habit. Should he say something or just stand there looking like a moron who'd just been caught in action? Luckily Tim had started to say something, so instead of speaking up he just stood there with his gaze planted firmly on the ground listening to him stammer about some stupid book or other.
He could hear the footsteps and soon he could see Tim's shoes in his sight letting him know he'd been near the bed, but he knew it hadn't been for him, and when he'd heard Chris's name he just sighed scratching the back of his neck nervous now as the three had been closer than when he was at the door. Carter wanted to just back into a corner and become invisible, but he knew he couldn't do that, so instead he now insisted on shoving his hands in his pants pockets and keeping his focus on the floor. He did not want to hear this talk about Chris spending hours looking for a book and all this and that, so he did his best to ignore it all as he just stood as silent and still as possible. He heard Tim mention something about leaving and his head picked up some, but only enough to see his knee or so before it fell back on the floor saying nothing. It was kind of funny how for once he'd been completely speechless, or at least that'd been until he'd heard a fourth voice in the room and it caused him to twist his head in the direction it'd came from.
He saw a weak Kayla trying to rise though not doing a very good job of it, and he just groaned some as even she had just seen what had happened. Great, this is just getting better by the fucking minute. "I don't think you should be trying to sit up just yet, Kayla," he tried to keep a level head and act like nothing had happened, but he knew that would not go over so well. He took a few steps towards her but stopped knowing that Kaitlyn would want to get to her first, so instead of going any further he just stood there and gave his first gaze in Tim's direction with pathetic apologetic eyes, he really did not mean for any of this to happen, or for at least his friend to catch him in the act.

Kait was sufficiently surprised when she felt Carter move more into the kiss, brushing at her hair with his hand. Well, at least he wasn't a bad kisser. Still, she could feel herself breaking out in goosebumps at the wrongness of it all. In that instant, rather being a perfect example of how over Chris she was, this whole thing was showing her quite the opposite. It was literally just a kiss. Her heart wasn't pounding in her ears, there were no butterflies in her stomach, and she was kind of uncomfortable. Well, really uncomfortable. She didn't want to seem rude by forcing herself off of him, but she wanted the damn thing to end. Which was why, when she heard that thud, she quickly released Carter and looked at the door.
Fuck. Of all the fucking people in the world, it had to be Timothy. Standing there with a stupefied expression on his face. Were she still interested in hurting Chris, well, this would have been perfect. As it was, her plans had changed significantly. She watched Tim pick up the book, suddenly curious about it in an odd, irrelevant way. He was obviously quite surprised by what he'd seen, though he had still found it in himself to act normal, and it was better to watch him be extremely uncomfortable rather than go running off to tell his room mate what he'd seen. She raised her eyebrows when he told her the title. Would it be wrong to act excited about it? She didn't even know that Yohji Yamamoto was putting a biography out, and here Tim - well, Chris - was, buying it for her.
Seeing the disappointment in his brief glance brought Kait crashing down into the realms of reality. He was too kind to lecture the two of them about kissing, but not dull enough to ignore it completely. "Oh. Thank-you. It's lovely. You... he knows me too well," she replied, lowering her eyes, on the verge of tears yet again. Why couldn't she manage to do anything right any more? This was so fucked up. Apparently, it was going to get even worse, as she heard an entirely new voice pipe up from the other side of the room.
As soon as Kait turned, seeing her sister moving and looking around and speaking, she forgot everything else. It didn't matter that the first words out of her mouth involved a lot of swearing and not much else. She simply stared, wide-eyed, hardly daring to believe that Kayla was awake. Not dying. Alive. Now, the tears truly did spill over. Kait had never felt so happy and so disgusted with herself at the same time. How long had Kayla been awake? Long enough to see her kissing Carter, at least. "Kayla.." she choked, covering her mouth with her hand, feeling her mind run out of ways to fix anything.

Tim couldn't believe he could still speak past the shock, but somehow he managed, and somehow he did what he'd gone there to do. Not that it made him feel any better, but Kaitlyn looked just as depressed as he was feeling, and he could practically sense Carter's guilt. Still, he wasn't going to look at him. No way. Maybe he could just pretend that it had been another blonde guy entirely: one who simply bore a striking resemblance to his best friend. If only it were that simple. He forced a smile as Kait spoke. At least he would be able to go back and tell Chris she'd loved his gift. But would he tell Chris about the kiss? As if the whole thing weren't already complicated enough, now he had to worry about the consequences of having witnessed it. Brilliant. If anything, though, Kait seemed remorseful. Right then and there, Tim decided that he wouldn't mention any of this to his room mate unless Kait tried to go back to him without revealing the truth. He would let her off the hook easy.
Carter was another matter. This wasn't the first time the man had hurt him, of course, but if Tim thought that playing the 'hot and cold' game was bad, he was sorely mistaken. Seeing that kiss went above and beyond any of that. It was like a dagger straight through his heart, or something melodramatic like that. Which was why Tim was so eager to escape the room. Of course, Kayla chose that moment to wake up. Upon hearing her voice, his eyes flew up from where they'd been fixed on the floor, and he stared at her. One thing was for sure: the woman had crazy timing. Were he not so gutted, he would have laughed at her outburst. As it was, he simply stood there with a look of disbelief on his face. She was like his one ally in the room. It wouldn't be right to say hello and then skip out the door; not when she'd been in a coma since the accident. But at least she was just as appalled as he himself. And she wouldn't be too choked to say something about it.
Tim remained silent as Carter spoke. He was surprised by the other man's words, at how it was such a Carter thing to say. Apparently, the idea of pretending that it was his friend's long-lost twin sitting there being a complete douchebag would not work, after all. Too bad. It had been such a foolproof plan to start with. Tim shuffled his feet, hearing Kait speak her sister's name. Then, he gave Kayla a half-hearted smile, not trusting himself to be able to say anything. This was like some sort of nightmare. Mixed with the odd, wonderful dream of Kayla waking up from her coma.
Without quite meaning to, Tim saw Carter look at him from the corner of his eye, and before he could stop himself he met the other man's gaze. Well, that had been a stupid idea. Suddenly, the numbness of shock faded, and Tim could feel a mixture of ugly emotions forming in the pit of his stomach. He knew what the man was trying to do, but it wouldn't work this time. This whole thing sucked too much. With great effort, Tim tore his eyes away, returning them to the floor. Realizing that his hands had been hanging uselessly by his sides for quite a while now, he shoved them into his pockets, waiting for somebody to say something.
