OUTFITTo say that Carter was nervous was an understatement, but how could he not be when this was their first really public date? Since everything that had happened in New York things had been insane, the two had went from being best friends to dating, or at least the awkward version of dating that neither were familiar with. He had no idea where they stood to be honest, there had never been a conversation about them being boyfriends or anything, but it was pretty much set to be that way after such an admission right? Carter had no idea, but he did know that he needed to make tonight perfect for his date, not just his best friend anymore. It felt so good to know that he was going on a date with him, and what better night for a first official date than a New Years Eve event? It was perfect, the event could be their showcase of the relationship, but then again he didn't want to make Tim uncomfortable so he should tone it down tonight and just relax, go with the flow so to speak. He had done the right thing and called a limo for the night, this would be the icing on the cake, and since he couldn't drive it seemed like the easiest mode of transportation. He had gotten his suit on in one of his friends dorms, mostly because he didn't want Tim to see him until he was all fancied up, and after he'd given himself a stamp of approval he left the other room and headed towards his own. He took a deep breathe as he put his hand on the knob and opened up the dorm. He could see nobody in it until he stepped into the room, and that is when he'd noticed Tim standing with his back facing the door putting on his suits coat. "Well the backside looks alright, i'm sure the front looks just as nice though," yes it had been his turn to crack a lame ass joke, but considering the number of nerves in his system right now he was happy that he'd been at least able to say something. He walked across the room over to his companion and smoothed out the back of his coat as he wrapped his hands around the mans sides resting them on his stomach as he nuzzled his forehead against his shoulder. "Please tell me i'm not the only one that's nervous about tonight," he figured that since his admission in New York he should lay everything out on the line, so that meant he'd be honest and tell the other what he was feeling at any given time. He pulled away from the somewhat backwards hug as he took a step back and smoothed out his own coat once more as his fingers ruffled through his hair some before patting it down. He was so nervous and wasn't sure if his hair looked better messy or straight, so by the time that Tim would have turned around it was probably somewhere inbetween. "I'm glad the others aren't around though," he looked over his shoulder to make sure that neither Emeri or Chris were hiding in the corner or something, "because it leaves things wide open for me to do this," just as Tim did turn around Carter stepped up to him brushing his chest against the others as he was close enough to lean up to brush a kiss against his lips, but since it'd been mid stride it'd ended up being just on the corner, or maybe moreso on the cheek, he couldn't tell.

HAIR (minus blue), OUTFIT (Tom included. loljk)
Tim had never been a suit person; it was probably one of the side effects of not really caring about fashion in the first place. Tonight, however, he'd really tried. He'd even gotten Chris and Em to help him (well, mostly Chris) before politely implying that they should probably be on their way; the evening would be awkward enough without his and Carter's two room mates hanging around. Somehow, he wasn't too uncomfortable in the black slacks and 'smart' shirt, and his hair had given up trying to sabotage the entire look, for once appearing relatively controlled. With absolutely everything going right so far, Tim had a lot of energy left to focus on being nervous. Personally, he would've preferred to be running around last minute, trying to find everything he needed, wondering how the hell people with curls ever managed to convince their hair to do as it was told. Instead, he was stuck looking for something to distract himself until Carter arrived.
Gradually, he did begin to calm down. After all, it was Carter he was waiting for. The man had been his best friend for as long as he could remember, and aside from finally admitting feelings which had been around for a while, nothing had really changed. He was the same Tim, Carter was the same Carter, and while there would be no way to avoid a bit of weirdness over the course of the evening, he knew there was no reason to actually worry too much. With a sigh, he shook himself, picking up his suit jacket from where he'd thrown it over the back of a chair. Slowly, he put one arm in, then the other, concentrating on breathing normally. He'd just pulled the thing fully on when he heard a familiar voice. He turned slightly, looking over his shoulder and grinning at the person who stood there. "You really know how to give somebody a compliment," he replied, playfully sarcastic. Then, he turned away for a moment, trying to figure out where his tie had gone.
Just as he'd located the item on the seat of the chair, he felt Carter's hands slide around him, immediately giving him a dizzy, happy feeling. He still couldn't quite believe that, after so much time spent dancing around the subject of how he felt about the man, it had turned out like this. The best case scenario. Standing in their dorm, together, about to go on their first-ever 'date.' Almost giddy now, Tim laughed, fumbling with his tie and trying to remember what its purpose was. "You're not the only one that's nervous about tonight," he obliged, taking Carter's demand literally as a small, inconspicuous joke. Finally, he managed to straighten out the length of fabric in his hands, putting the tie around his neck and tying it carefully.
"Oh?" he raised an eyebrow as Carter spoke, knowing it had been a good idea to get their room mates out of there. He turned to face his friend, laughing again as the man strode forward. Automatically, he put his arms around Carter, smirking as the other man's lips landed somewhere between his own mouth and his cheek. "Smooth," he commented, taking in the slightly ruffled hair and black suit not unlike his own. "You certainly clean up nicely," he decided, figuring much the same could be said about himself. He wasn't quite sure how to act just then. In the past, Carter had always been the one to initiate everything, and considering how nervous Tim still was he didn't really feel like breaking out of his shell and dropping that particular routine.
ooc Oh geez, here we go.

Seeing Tim look over his shoulder with that grin of his made Carter feel a tad less nervous, but with each step he took closer to the man those nerves seemed to creep back throughout his system. Giving that compliment had helped for the moment, but as he heard Tim respond with that sense of sarcasm he just rolled his eyes some trying to figure out a good way to back himself out of the lame corner. "I wish you knew how to take them," he smirked stepping closer until he'd been right behind the man, and at that time feeling the warmth radiate from Tim's body sent a shiver down Carter's spine. He had been so in love with this man for so long and had to keep it a secret, and now that everything was out in the open it felt so much better, but at the same time a whole new set of nerves cascaded through his body, but he was sure it just came with the territory of love.
He couldn't help himself as he wanted to be as close to the man as possible, and of course since he'd felt the need to have him in his arms he'd reached around his stomach pulling him into a somewhat awkward backwards hug, but it didn't seem to bother him as he nuzzled against the mans shoulder and he heard Tim say that he'd been just as nervous. It was refreshing to hear that, and it did happen to make him feel just a tad bit better, but the nerves still buzzed in his stomach like a swarm of bees. "You, nervous, really?" he teased resting his head on the mans shoulder cracking up some, "can't be for the same reason as me though," he kept his voice low since he'd been so close to him. "See there's this guy, and well I sort of told him I love him, and turns out he feels the same way, so tonight we're meeting up and i'm hoping he'll spend the night in my arms, and you want to know what else?" Since Tim had been slightly taller than him he stood up on his toes so his lips would be close to the mans ear, "I promise I won't be corny like this the entire night."
He slowly backed away having felt the need to be corny for a second, but he couldn't pull it off for too much longer since that just wasn't the kind of person he had been. He had one more trick up his sleeve, and luckily Tim played right into things perfectly turning just as Carter needed too, but he did hope that the end result wouldn't have been a failed attempt at striking the lips. "You know me, smooth like uh-" he tried to think on his toes of something that would be considered smooth, "Peanut butter, yup, smooth like peanut butter." He grinned as he heard the compliment of his attire as he looked down at the suit, "I had Todd down the hall help, he tied my tie for me," he held up the flimsy tie and just chuckled, seriously he'd been so pathetic when it came to dressing up and looking nice. Even growing up when they needed to dress up for an event it always was a clip on tie, or even a bow tie that Carter hated. "You look good, we uh, match." Well sort of, the same color pretty much, but that's because black had been a pretty usual color choice. "Our ride is waiting downstairs for whenever you're ready," he grinned leaning down to clean off his shoe that had seemed to obtain a scuff mark.

Had Tim been facing Carter, he would've stuck his tongue out at him. As it was, he simply smirked. He had never been big on having compliments directed at him; he didn't expect them, and they surprised him, and he really didn't know how to respond. Obviously, Carter had figured that out. "Pfft, that was so lame I don't think it even deserves to be called a compliment," he retorted, though he was glad for the cheesiness of the other man's words. Had he been totally serious, Tim probably would've died of nervousness. This way, things still felt normal enough that he could maintain at least some level of calm. Oddly enough, he didn't mind the strange backward hug. In fact, it was quite comfortable, and only made him feel a little bit flustered.
Tim laughed at Carter's comment about him being nervous. "Yeah, 'cause usually I'm mister cool, right?" The sarcasm was back, always there to help him through a potentially awkward conversation. Tim may have been level-headed and collected in the middle of chaos, but when it came to smaller, more personal things, he could freak out like the best of them. However, he wasn't as nervous as he'd expected. Hopefully that would last for the rest of the evening. As Carter continued in a slightly lower voice, Tim could feel himself becoming momentarily more serious, forgetting about his tie completely in order to listen to the other man's words. His lips twisted into a small smirk as his friend went on with the story. "Oh, do continue," he urged when Carter paused, still not quite used to this side of his companion. At Carter's final words, of course, Tim's mouth broke back into his classic grin once more.
"Sounds like a lucky guy. Also sounds like a line from a cliche romantic comedy," he pointed out, always the one to bring up stuff like that. He did like the idea of spending the long night in Carter's arms, though. It sounded comfortable. "Howabout we'll take turns being corny? Just to even it out?" he asked, finally managing to tie his tie. As a side note, he'd always found the name 'tie' to be ridiculous. How could you ever make that sound good in a sentence? Tying a tie. It was stupid. Of course, he couldn't stay looking at the chair in front of him forever, so he finally turned around, smirking as Carter tried to make up for his bad aim. "Sure, smooth peanut butter. The extra chunky kind." Tim wiggled his eyebrows, quite pleased with that one.
"Todd down the hall knows how to tie a tie?" Tim asked, wincing at the awfulness of how it sounded. He supposed it kind of made sense, though. Todd down the hall had proven to be a very useful ally in a variety of situations requiring other dorms and somebody who wasn't your room mate to help you get ready for something. That Todd down the hall, he thought to himself, what a guy. "I googled tie... tying, earlier," he admitted. And even that hadn't been enough; Chris had still had to help him practice. He'd finally figured it out, but he still hoped it would be a seldom-used skill. He raised an eyebrow when Carter pointed out that they matched. "We do. I feel like I'm looking in a shorter, blonde mirror," he agreed. Was this awkward, or was this awkward?
"Okay," he nodded when Carter informed him that their ride was ready. He took a step toward the door, then glanced down at his feet, currently sock-clad. "I should probably put some shoes on," he laughed, stopping to look around for his shoes. The god awful, shiny black ones. The ones that no man should ever be forced to wear, but were always forced to wear because of fancy events like this. Then again, maybe if he'd been willing to spend more money on 'fancy' shoes, they wouldn't have been so cheap and uncomfortable. Whatever. Finally, he located them sitting near his bed where he'd dropped them after dragging them out of the back of the closet. Sighing, he went over, plopping himself down on his mattress and pulling them onto his feet. "I should've bought some of those gel things. The ones you put in the bottoms," he indicated to the inside of his shoes, "that are supposed to make your feet all comfortable and improve your posture and everything."
ooc Tim doesn't take corn with his meat, Carter. if that makes sense I will be very proud of you Also.. well, I kind of went off on a few tangents (Todd down the hall lmao) so enjoy those. Yeah. I had too much fun with this post.

Carter laughed nodding in Tim's direction, "it came from my mouth so yeah i'd say you need to just accept it for what it is, a compliment," he grinned stepping closer to the man. He was right though, Carter had made it sound rather lame, but it's not like it'd been the lamest thing he'd said before. He was full of lame ass remarks and compliments, and now that the two were together it seemed he'd been pulling the most severely lame ones out of his arsenal. He just couldn't help it though, he had no idea how to change from friend to boyfriend, so during the transition his lame factor was through the roof.
"Cool, calm, and collected, usually," he chuckled knowing that had not been Tim in the slighest, but out of the two of them he seemed to be the one that could hold himself together the easiest. It seemed that Carter could not stop being corny though, but this was a whole new situation for him so he hoped Tim didn't expect him to act normal. He had no idea how a boyfriend acted though, especially when the girlfriend was another male, so although he tried to be himself he also tried to act romantic and endearing, but apparantly from Tim's usual laughter and sarcastic remarks it'd meant Carter was failing miserably in the end. You'd think he'd be able to just be himself, that being the man that Tim fell in love with, but Carter was lame and barely made sense when it came to his actions.
"Oh come on, it wasn't that lame," romantic comedies always had the weirdest lines in them, "I need to find some new material, better a lame romantic comedy though than one of those super chick flick movies, like the Notebook." He loved the notebook though, but it did aid in his statement by showing the difference between a simple romantic comedy to a heartfelt love story. "We would have the most dysfunctional love story of them all you know," he chuckled as he thought about it while standing there for a moment. He nodded hearing the offer from Tim, "I think that'd be a good idea, that way we're not just laughing at me the entire night, you could stand to be lame and corny a time or two," he had hoped corny remarks would stop falling from his lips, but with his nerves he couldn't promise anything.
The kiss, well Carter should have aimed better, but at least it made for reasonable conversation as Tim was now picking on him about being as smooth as extra chunky peanut butter. "I was smooth enough to land you, wasn't I?" He smirked, a wave of confidence rushing over him though he had no idea why. He grinned and nodded as Tim sounded in disbelief about Todd, "you'd be surprised the things that man knows how to do, I think I caught him sewing a dress the other day, and he says i'm the gay one," Todd was straight as a nail, but Carter of course always made the comment on how easily a nail could bend with the use of a hammer. Carter cocked an eyebrow at Tim's statement about googling, and then went and looked at the mans tie, "you got all that just off the internet?" He was impressed, his tie looked almost perfect.
Carter laughed somewhat hesitantly when he mentioned looking in the shorter blonde mirror, okay now that sounded awkward, and to think that they were damn near matching on their first date was just odd. He almost wanted to change suits, but since this had been the only one he'd had here he knew he was stuck. "Shoes would be nice since you know there's snow out there and everything," he stepped near the door and looked around thinking about the date ahead, but then he was wondering if Tim was even calling it a date like he had been. For all he knew he was thinking of tonight as a lot more than what Tim had been thinking, but it's not like he should step up and ask him because it'd just be weird. He laughed when Tim was talking about the gel inserts for the shoes, boy were they moving from one awkward conversation to another, but Carter couldn't do anything but nod, "mine aren't all that bad, but i'm just used to standing in them for long periods of time for when I was back home going to the stupid events with the folks." He groaned thinking about his father but didn't let it get to him too much, "I don't think my feet have grown since like sixth grade, how fucked up is that?" He leaned against the door watching Tim finish getting himself ready to go.
notes if you meant Carter as the meat than i'm pretty sure I get where you were going ;] and i'm pretty sure I bursted out laughing while reading that, but Timmy better get used to it because there's a lot more corn where that came from...if it's not awkward it'll be corny, :] and hey, Todd was the first name I came up with, and he's such a good friend to Carter for helping him! This post is so awkward it's fun!

"Whatever," Tim jokingly waved off Carter's statement. Then, deciding to be at least a little more serious and actually thank the man, added, "thanks. It's true; I do look awesome." Hopefully they would get used to this couple thing soon, and Tim could stop feeling like he was about to choke on the butterflies trying to escape his stomach. Of course, he had to admit: Carter's retort to his comment about peanut butter had been classic. "What?" he asked, pretending to be offended, "chunky peanut butter is my favourite kind!" He looked over at his friend with wide, sincere eyes, though the ghost of a smile hadn't completely vanished from his face. Maybe, once they got through their first date, this whole thing would start to feel more natural. Or maybe they were destined to be awkward and nervous forever. He smirked when Carter called him cool, calm and collected. "Yup, that about sums me up." If only. It didn't help that Tim could almost feel an awkward silence coming on, but luckily the other man had decided to put the corn on the table so to speak.
"It was pretty lame," Tim raised an eyebrow, still grinning. He couldn't seem to get that smile off of his face no matter how hard he tried, so he'd basically given up. He nodded as Carter continued, adding, "exactly. Something with class, at least." Weirdly enough, the Notebook was one of the few movies Tim had been able to sit through without becoming bored out of his mind and getting up to make popcorn every ten minutes. He looked up at his friend when he mentioned their own love story, somewhat amused. "It'd be much better than the stuff Hollywood calls 'entertainment,'" he decided, "I bet it'd be an instant classic too." He laughed. It would be the weirdest thing to see any part of his life up on the silver screen, let alone the story of his and Carter's relationship.
"I'll see what I can do," Tim promised, knowing he would have to make an actual effort to be corny, while Carter seemed to come across the trait almost naturally. Or maybe part of being corny was the inability to recognize your own corniness... Tim was kind of hungry for corn, now. Fortunately, they began talking about Todd, and he was soon distracted from the whims of his stomach. "I wouldn't be surprised," Tim admitted, easily able to imagine Todd slaving over a pile of fabric, sewing away. He chuckled at Carter's next comment. "I hate to break it to you, but you are the gay one." And, personally, Tim wouldn't have it any other way.
As Carter came forward to look at his tie, Tim straightened up proudly, also inspecting the knot as best he could. "I probably practised a lot," he added sheepishly, lifting his eyes back to his companion's face. Well, the gap between them was much smaller, now. Had Tim's confidence level been higher, he probably would've tried to actually kiss Carter, but instead he gave him a half-smile and glanced back down at his tie. Rather than worry about the fact that they were wearing almost the same thing, Tim just shrugged. "We're like one of those old couples who go to the mall dressed in the same track suits and everything." Okay, maybe that wasn't the best thing to say, but sometimes words just found their way out of his mouth and he really couldn't control them.
He scowled when Carter commented on his lack of shoes, turning to find the things. "Shut it, you," he ordered, reaching down to pick them up and pulling them on with very little care. He was glad that his friend had been polite enough to laugh at the idea of gel inserts, though they both knew he'd only been trying to think of something to say. "Yeah, I guess you can thank them for teaching you to deal with the pain, at least," Tim nodded as Carter spoke. Yes, they were now talking about feet. As far as conversation between the two of them went, this was a sad excuse for forced small talk. Again, Tim found himself considering romantic comedies.. how was it that the best friends who fell in love in those always managed to seamlessly go from friendship to relationship as if it were the easiest thing in the world? He'd always known those films were bullshit, but seriously.
Finally finished with his shoes, Tim stood once more, half-heartedly brushing himself off. Couldn't they have gone to a rave instead? "That's kind of weird, actually," Tim headed for the door, looking back to make sure he hadn't left anything behind and wondering if Carter's feet had really been the same size since sixth grade. Probably not. Arriving next to his friend, he glanced at the man, raising his eyebrows. "Let's blow this popsicle stand." Somehow managing to maintain a straight face, he breezed past Carter, cracking up after about two steps. The combination of nerves and general awkwardness were honestly getting to be too much for him. Still chuckling, he spun around again, shaking his head and reaching past Carter to pull the door closed. At the same time, he grabbed his friend's arm and dragged him out into the hall. "Come on, the party's waiting for us!"
ooc oh you are just too clever =P Also, I think this is the best Tarter thread we've ever done, just saying. Well, maybe after the NYC one because that was hella epic.

Carter was glad he agreed, but he did happen to roll his eyes just to make it look like he hadn't liked Tim being so conceited. Sure, he might not have liked it so much if he'd been serious, but he knew Tim wasn't that shallow and was more than likely joking so he just went with it. "Is that seriously the only reason you like me?" His jaw dropped open as he put his hands on his hips and stood there with a look of disbelief. "You're only with me because I remind you of your favorite kind of peanut butter," he shook his head making it appear that he'd been upset to find out about this, but then out of nowhere the most enchanted smirk came across his lips as he couldn't help but let out a small giggle fit, that of somewhere near a four year old girl. "I knew you only liked me 'cause i'm nuts," he would have said the word for to replace 'cause but he thought that'd be too dirty, so he settled for just the giggle fit and then he dropped it. "You know it's me you're talking to right? You can't just lie to me, i'm pretty sure after all these years I know how you are," he knew that Tim had never been all three traits at the same time, but he was closer than Carter was.
"I wish I could say that i'll stop being lame, but i'm afraid that the further we get into the night the lamer i'm going to become or something," he was being truthful though and knew once they were actually at the event he'd turn into some huge lame duck. "Classy movies don't sell tickets though, and i'm hoping to get rich off of this, so we'll probably have to add some trash in here and there, you know just to get people interested." He wiggled his eyebrows teasing his friend some trying to act seductive, but his body language was nothing other than awkward as usual around Tim. "Instant classic? Wow, that's a lot of pressure to put on a movie that hasn't even been made yet," he smirked as he thought about how these two would look on the bigscreen. "Who do you think they'd even get to play us do you think?" He tried to think of someone blonde that would make a good Carter, but he just couldn't think of any that'd be worthy of portraying him. "I can tell you right now that if they think that those Twilight vampire shit boys are going to get the priviledge of being me, well they have another thing coming to them, no way is that Patz guy getting to do me." He then thought about what he'd said and burst out laughing, oh did that just sound dirty.
"I'm sure I can be corny enough for the both of us if I have to," he sighed making a big production of it as he rose his shoulders as high as they could go before letting them sink as far down as possible. Carter did like the fact that Todd was a pleasant distraction, so for that moment that he'd been thinking and picking on the man down the hall he'd felt that usual wave of confidence rush over him, but the second that Tim called him the gay one his eyes snapped back over to the man as his jaw dropped and he stared wide eyed at the man. "Did you just say what I think you said?" He picked his hand up to put it infront of his mouth adding to looking shocked, but really he didn't think it'd been that bad to be called that and was trying desperately to not just break out in laughter. He had thought it hilarious that ever since telling Tim he loved him everything had been gay, no matter what he'd be talking about he'd find a way to work that word into the conversation, so it was about time that he accepted hearing it from Tim. He just thought it was hilarious that just a week ago the two wouldn't have dared call each other gay, and now it didn't seem a big deal at all. "Damn, and here I was hoping to hook up with him sometime," okay, not the best thing to joke about but it'd slipped out of his mouth before even thinking, and with that he snapped his fingers like he'd been disappointed about missing out.
Carter couldn't help but be impressed as he inspected the tie, for having just picked it up online Tim had done a very good job, but then again he was always a quick learner with things like that. At mention of being like an old couple at the mall Carter's eyes widened quick before he shook his head chuckling, "I don't care how long we are together, I refuse to go to the mall with matching track suits." He tried to sound as serious as he could as he looked at Tim, but soon a small grin pressed against his lips as he shrugged, "well unless you let me be the one to wear the headband and then i'd have no problem matching it up at the mall," or maybe he wouldn't but it was at least something to talk about. Honestly he had never had a hard time talking to Tim, but now that their feelings were in the open he found it difficult to carry out even the simplest of conversations. He loved how the conversation had went from track suits to shoes, but not wanting an awkward silence to fall over the room Carter kept up the conversations the best he could. "Right, thank them, if it weren't for them i'd be dealing with mere physical pain instead of crippling emotional distress, so thanks to them, so much." He wondered if he'd said that right, but even if not he knew that Tim would understand. It was weird though, even talking about his parents which usually upset him didn't seem to mess his mood up at all.
He watched him put the shoes on and stand up as he grinned stuffing his hands into his pockets unsure of what he should do with them, "just letting you know what you're getting yourself into, at least I have normal sized thumbs." He wiggled both thumbs inside of his pocket even though Tim couldn't see them, and of course he hoped the man would get the reference to the movie Monsters VS. Aliens, but he was unsure if he'd ever made him watch it. As Tim passed and Carter heard the lame remark he couldn't help but laugh, but soon he'd felt himself pulled out into the hallway, "yes let's go, we wouldn't want our public waiting," he tried to sound royal but failed miserably, and although he would usually link arms or something he instead kept his hands in his pockets nervously fiddling with some lint as he walked down the hall. "I hope you like our ride tonight, it's the most I could do without a license." He shrugged as the two walked out to the lot where the limo had been sitting. The driver opened the black door just as Tim and Carter were nearing, "we even match our ride tonight, talk about coordination." he chuckled taking his hands out thanking the driver as he offered to help Tim in, something that he thought was what he was supposed to do, but really he had no idea how he was supposed to act.
NOTES. pssh, we both already knew I was clever and awesome ;] haha, these two are so much fun! I loved them before but now there's just something else about them that makes it all even better, YAY!

At Carter's reaction to his peanut butter comment, Tim snickered, not having the decency to look sorry. "I, uh, really like chunky peanut butter?" he tried, putting on his best puppy-dog eyes. When the other man began giggling, however, he burst into a fit of laughter. To say that his mind wasn't right next to his friends' in that dirty gutter would be a lie, but he didn't speak his thoughts aloud, either. Things were already awkward enough without... that kind of thing. He frowned when Carter pointed out how he could see right through Tim's lies, and hung his head, pretending to sulk. "Fine. Rain on my parade, why don't you?" he mumbled, leaning back on the chair and inspecting his fingernails as if they were far more interesting than his companion.
He looked up at Carter's promise to continue the lame act. "Alright, but keep the compliments about my backside to a minimum. Especially in public." Tim raised an eyebrow, eyes sparkling with amusement. To be perfectly honest, Tim would probably end up adding to their overall lameness, so he really wasn't one to talk. As they moved on to considering the movie of their lives, he sighed. "Fine, we'll trash it up a bit. A couple of raunchy sex scenes should do the trick, yeah?" Tim's eyes widened as he heard his own words, and it was all he could do to keep from slapping a hand over his mouth. Why did he even talk at all? Nah, don't bother implying things like that, just come right out and say them all over the damn place. Trying to cover up his slip of the tongue, Tim scratched the back of his neck, pretending the blush that was steadily creeping onto his face did not exist. "Er, you know, raunchy sex scenes as in..." he shook his head, shrugging and giving his friend a helpless look, "I got nothing. Screw class, give the people entertainment."
Tim tried to look as nonchalant as possible when Carter mentioned the pressure already resting on their film. "Well, we're awesome, so I don't see why our movie would be any different," he grinned, figuring that made perfect sense. His expression became thoughtful at his companion's question. Who would play him? He didn't pay a lot of attention to celebrities and stuff, so trying to think of one who resembled him wasn't the easiest thing to do. He nodded in agreement as Carter continued, though. "They would never do us justice. They're definitely out of the question." He rolled his eyes as the other man started laughing again, waiting patiently for him to finish. "You are hilarious," he told him dryly.
Tim grinned when Carter pretended like being corny was a burden. He was quite sure that, for his friend, trying to avoid corny-ness would be far more difficult than laying it on thick enough for two. "Thanks, man. It's good to know you'll pick up my slack. I was really worried about not being corny enough tonight," Tim, sarcastic as usual, let Carter know just how much his help would be appreciated. Tim almost burst in yet another fit of laughter at the other man's reaction to having been called gay, but he didn't want his friend to think he was too funny. Instead of revealing his amusement, Tim slowly raised his eyebrow, adding, "I might've said what you think I just said. What're you gonna do about it?" A smile did manage to creep its way onto his face, but quickly disappeared when Carter spoke again. "What?!" He placed a hand on his chest, trying to act shocked and appalled. "You're tired of me already?" Dramatically, he stumbled to his bed, throwing himself across it. "My heart's broken, I don't think I should go out tonight. Take Todd instead, if he's so special." Of course, the usual hint of humour remained in his voice; if there were anything Tim was sure of, it was Carter's trustworthiness.
Tim tried to look disappointed when Carter denied his matching outfits idea, but couldn't quite manage. "Oh, come on. We have to do that at least once," he pointed out convincingly, "you can definitely wear the headband. You'll see. In fifty years you'll be begging to go to the mall in matching outfits." Why were they even talking about this? Had they ever been so awkward before? Fortunately, putting on his shoes created a good distraction. Until they started talking about feet, which somehow led to Carter's parents, which made everything weird yet again. "On second thought, I'll take the painful feet." He couldn't honestly think of anything else to say; hopefully he hadn't sounded too uncaring or anything, because he hated what the other man had been forced to grow up with.
Tim gave Carter a quizzical look when he mentioned regular-sized thumbs, vaguely able to connect it to some movie. "Yeah, thank god for that," he nodded, making it out to be a big deal. Finally, they managed to get out of the dorm, which didn't really help lower the awkwardness level but did make him feel more purposeful. Taking a gigantic leap of confidence, he slung an arm over his companion's shoulders, giving him a small squeeze. They would be all right. They just needed to get used to all of this. When Carter hinted at their ride, Tim pretty much assumed he'd rented a limo. Of course, he'd never actually been in a limo, so it was still exciting not a hummer, but whatever. "Oh, awesome!" he exclaimed as it came into view, bringing his arm back down to his side. When the driver opened the door for them, he raised his eyebrows. This was legit. "I feel like such a James Bond-type. The suits, the fancy car.." When Carter offered to help him in, Tim gave him a look, clambering in on his own. Once he was inside, he looked around. "Wow." He grinned, taking a seat and looking over at his companion. "I feel like we're going to the red carpet or something."
ooc trololol nobody helps Tim into a limo, not even Carter >=O

"That's right, you damn well better," he smirked crossing his arms infront of his chest watching his friend. He had to keep a straight look on his face, especially as Timmy insisted on using those puppy dog eyes of his, but he couldn't hold that straight face for too long before cracking up. He shrugged his shoulders tossing his arms to the side as he smirked, "a little bit of peanut butter rain's never a bad thing," he brought back what he'd just been called not minutes prior, and now all he could think about had been standing outside in a peanut butter shower. This brought the widest grin to his face as he let his head hand back opening his mouth some letting the imaginary peanut butter pour into it. "Are you kidding?" He snapped out of the trance he'd been in pulling his head back up to look at Tim again, "Most of my compliments are going to be focused on your backside," winking he'd almost wanted to go and tap it with his hand to keep the joke going, but instead he shoved his hands in his pockets bouncing back and forth on his heels unsure of what else to do. Hearing raunchy sex scenes come out of Tim's mouth once again had Carter's attention as he stared at him for a second, "did you seriously say what I think you just did?" He walked over and put the back of his hand against Tim's forehead, and then he moved it to the mans cheek obviously feeling around for something, "don't mind me, i'm just checking for a fever, something's gotta be wrong.""So you're telling me you want to add some sex scenes into our life story, so wouldn't that mean we'd have to you know-" he shrugged his head from side to side wiggling his eyebrows letting Timothy piece together the words, it was obvious what he was getting at. "Because if that's the case we could put off tonight and just hang around here, or better yet go to a hotel, it'd be a night to remember, that's for sure," he couldn't help but chuckle as even just the thought had him getting extremely nervous. "Our story would be more epic than that old broad in Titanic," he smirked as that'd been the only one he could come up with off the top of his head other than the Notebook. "I don't think anyone could do us justice, so maybe we should just become actors and do it ourselves, and then we can live off the royalties of the movie." He grinned widely when Tim called him hilarious, though he knew the other had just been joking, but still he couldn't help but smirk and play along. The fact that they had spent so much of their conversation talking about how they were going to be corny and such tonight had Carter laughing. Usually they would be off of this topic and onto another one by now, but it seemed that now they were taking their sweet time with each, and he figured it'd all had something to do with the nerves on both parts. "You know me, always picking up the slack, you could even call me-" He pretended that he had a pair of suspendors on as he snapped them against his chest, "Slack boy, bringing the corn when the plates empty." He burst out laughing knowing that it'd sounded absolutely lame, but at least as he'd been called gay his laughter turned to focus on that. "Well, what would any gay man do in this situation?" He smirked, there were a few things he could think of, but none that he'd actually do since he'd be way too nervous. Instead he opted for another way out, and at this he watched Tim's reaction and tried to hold his laughter, "Honey, calm down, you've overreacting," he tried to play along since he wouldn't usually call Tim honey, and as he was thrown across the bed Carter grasped his chest taking a deep breathe, "No, you can't just leave me like this to fend for myself tonight, I don't want to be with Todd. Our movie would end up being just awesome, but nowhere near as epic," he smirked, again bringing up old conversations. The conversations seemed to be lacking in something, but Carter couldn't quite put his hand on what that'd been, so instead he just went with each topic (and usually brought up the old ones again). "I guess, if it's something that you really want to do," he rolled his eyes huffing like he'd hated the idea, but instead he was almost excited to think that Tim had such long term thoughts about the both of them. Hearing that Tim would let him wear the headband though had that grin of his beaming across his face, "I guess a headband is better than nothing," he groaned shaking his head, still absolutely giddy inside, but he couldn't just come right out and show the man that now could he? He shrugged at mention of the painful feet comment, "lighten up a little, those parties were like an alcoholics candyland. A bunch of men in suits drinking only half of what they order and leaving the rest around," he smirked at the memories though he knew that Tim probably wouldn't be too proud of them. Carter was almost upset that he hadn't made the connection to the movie, but at the same time it didn't even matter as he made his way outside with Tim. He watched the excitement on his friends face and just laughed as he scratched the back of his neck nervously, so the initial surprise had been positive so he had that going in his favor at least. "Weren't his suits usually white though? And where's my gun? Or wait, no, I think i'd want a flame thrower," he smirked just imagining what he could do with such a tool, but in the end he'd probably hurt himself more than others. When he offered to help Tim in the back he had no idea if Tim would accept, but of course it wasn't happening as he watched Tim slide into the back as Carter just chuckled slipping in behind him. "I wanted tonight to be special," he spoke honestly, but soon he started grinning as he picked his hand up to mark the thin air infront of him like chalk on a board. "Score one for the corny team."

Tim grinned flirtatiously at Carter's demand, not fooled in the least by his straight face. Sure enough, the other man soon began laughing, and Tim easily joined in. He even found the peanut butter rain joke to be funny, if not clever. "Mmm. If it's peanut butter, it can rain on my parade all it wants," he decided. Then, he could put slices of bread outside, buy a tonne of jam, and have peanut butter & jelly sandwiches until the weather changed. It didn't sound like a bad idea, to be perfectly honest. He snorted as Carter pretended to eat the rain. What an odd, odd man his friend was. At his promise to focus most of his compliments on Tim's backside, Tim groaned, giving him an unamused look. "Fine, but there might be consequences." He had no idea what those consequences were, but they would certainly be highly undesirable and probably dire.
Tim had no idea how he'd managed his little slip of the tongue, but now that he'd said it, he was forced to roll with it. He kept his gaze focused on the floor as Carter stared at him. Maybe if he just pretended he hadn't said anything... too late, his mind teased as his friend spoke. "Um, no?" Tim tried, knowing the lie was obvious. He lifted his eyes to the other man once more, still quite sheepish. He watched warily as Carter walked up to him, frowning as his temperature was checked. "Who are you, my mother?" He swatted at Carter's hand, unable to keep a grin from sliding across his face; it was wonderful to just act the way he wanted instead of carefully judging each one of his movements to make sure they wouldn't reveal too much about his feelings for his friend. Maybe that was why the 'raunchy sex scenes' idea had gotten out: his brain knew it wasn't that big of a deal any more.
As Carter continued, Tim raised an eyebrow, instantly seeing where he was going with his idea. "What, have raunchy sex?" he laughed, thrown off-guard by the way his friend was wiggling his eyebrows. He half-expected one of their room mates to come bursting through the door at that moment. Fortunately, the dorm remained unoccupied aside from themselves. "Yeah, screw the party, let's get it on!" Tim suggested, trying - and failing - to be rock and roll. His throat had become suddenly dry. Was that normal? Why did he have to be so nervous? It was only Carter, and people got it on all the time. Their entire conversation had been perfectly normal so far. When Carter mentioned the 'old broad' in the Titanic, Tim laughed, nodding. "Why is it that the Titanic and the Notebook are both old women telling stories from long ago?" He paused, thinking, his expression becoming even more confused. "And how do I even know that?" Obviously, someone had forced him to watch each movie, and they'd probably done it more than once. At the idea of playing himself, Tim smirked. "Oh, we should definitely be ourselves. Maybe we could make a documentary, and just have some guy with a camera follow us around everywhere while we do super interesting things."
At Carter's joke (if you could even call it that), Tim simply eyed his friend, waiting for the giggles to subside. "Remind me why I put up with you?" he asked, obviously not impressed with Slack Boy in the least. Even the peanut butter rain one had been better. Fortunately, they somehow managed to finally leave that topic behind, moving on to the next, completely unrelated one. Tim, too, could think of a few things for a 'gay' man to do in the situation, but he didn't say anything, either, instead focusing on his friend's adulterous plans. He smirked into the bed covers when Carter called him 'honey,' then rolled over, pulling an overly devastated face. "Well, what am I supposed to think when you say you want to hook up with him sometime?" he asked, trying to appear angry and upset at the same time. He didn't know how people did it in the real world. "I slave away all day, trying to tie my tie and make sure my suit doesn't get dust on it, and you're over there with Todd doing god knows what!" He shook his head, taking a deep, dramatic breath. Then, returning to his normal tone, he added, "it would be a shame to let such a good movie go to waste, though."
Tim grinned at Carter's agreement. "You know you'll love it," he told him reassuringly, now eager to get out of there. Though, once they got to the party, it would just be the same level of awkward with more people involved. At least they wouldn't be stuck talking about feet and alcohol for the entire night. He rolled his eyes, shaking his head at the idea of Carter running around, drinking the remains of other people's champagne. "I think it's time to go," he decided, giving the other man an amused look. What a night this would be. As they made their way to the limo, Tim was having quite a good time imagining himself as a 007 until Carter burst his bubble with the suit comment. Suddenly sullen, he looked down at his attire, then back up thoughtfully. "I'm going undercover?" he suggested, brushing his shoulder off casually. At the idea of Carter carrying a flame-thrower, Tim shuddered. "Those are only for emergency situations, I think. Or bad guys." He frowned. "I dunno where our guns are, though. Guess we'll just have to use our kung-fu skills."
Now seated comfortably in the limo, Tim relaxed a bit, leaning back into the seat. "Oh, you did, did you?" he asked, only half paying attention to his companion. The whole thing was just too cool; it required some exploration. He eyed a few buttons, but decided against pressing them until he knew what they did, then located the drink holders. As his friend gestured, however, he did look back up, grinning. "What team is the corny team up against, anyway?" Probably itself. Even if it won, it would lose, because it was corny either way. As the limo began to move, Tim shifted his weight, wanting to be as comfortable as possible before having to get out and walk around in his awful shoes all night. "There's going to be food at this thing, right? Like, real food, not just weird cheeses and healthy crackers and stuff." Not that Carter would know, it wasn't like either of them had helped plan the event.

Carter stopped laughing to think for a second as he cocked an eyebrow and just watched Tim. He was just wondering if the other had been literally talking about peanut butter, or if he was referring to him figuratively. "Uh, yeah," he burst out laughing trying to get the dirty thoughts out of his mind that kept swarming. He honestly could not help himself around Tim, but that wasn't anything new so Timmy was probably used to it by now, or at least Carter had hoped he was or things could start getting very awkward. "Peanut butter's made from nuts," the thought was random, and of course something that Timmy would already know, but Carter was going somewhere with it as he put his hands on his hips and a look of shock washed over his face, "are you trying to call me a nut this whole time?" He shook his head disappointed, but soon was smirking as he joked about Tim's backside. "I think I might just call your bluff on that. I don't think there will be consequences, I think you might just like all my compliments and eat them right up. The only consequence there'll be should be you not fitting through a door when your ego's the size of a house."
Carter, who was laughing and having a grand ol' time, stopped in his tracks shocked by when Tim had just said, and now as he heard Tim try to lie and cover it up he did nothing but smirk as he crossed his arms over his chest and watched him. He had to check Tim for a temperature after a statement like that, but as the other swatted his hand away Carter burst into another fit of laughter, "you talk about raunchy sex and then throw a mother joke in there? You really must be sick," sure Tim had probably not meant it like that, but Carter could take everything and distort it however he wanted it to. He threw Tim's mother out of his mind though the second he made his offer, one that if Tim had said yes Carter knew it still wouldn't happen (he'd be far too nervous), so when he heard Tim start to laugh he joined knowing it was the easiest thing to do to cover that set of nerves. Even just thinking about having sex with Tim was weird. Sure, he loved the man and wanted to spend the rest of his life with him, and the two had made out on many occassions in the bedroom, but to go that extra step was just massive, and Carter knew he'd end up freaking out. Hearing him, even if he'd hoped the other had just been joking, his eyes widened and his palms immediately became sweaty as he fumbled with his tie. "Oh shush, we did not get dressed up for nothing, we're going to this event and we're going to have a good time." That was his cop out of staying at the dorm.
"Because obviously the best love stories come from the old farts," he grinned though shook his head, already his and Tim's relationship could have been a classic, so he had a one-up on all those old women. He just hoped this between them didn't end in tragedy, but then again you can't spell BLOCKBUSTER without DISASTER these days. "Don't worry, your secret is safe with me," he winked when Tim expressed his worry that he'd known that about both movies. The idea of the documentary made Carter grin. It was an absolute amazing idea! "So like maybe stage the New York scene just because, well you can't have a movie about us without that scene, and then go from there with the documentary, it could work." He kept nodding as he thought about some guys with camaras and equiptment standing behind them catching their every move. "That might not be a good idea though, i'd be afraid of some of the shit they could get their hands on for footage, and what if it gets in the wrong hands?" His eyes widened, but soon he couldn't help but smirk as he stared at Tim, "oh and the barfight is definitely going to happen again just because it was a damn awesome scene, and we need it to have at least a little action in it if we're going to chase that Emmy, or is it Golden Globe? Oscar?" There were too many award shows and Carter NEVER watched them.
Carter gave him the cheesiest grin he could muster as he leaned in close and nuzzled up against Tim's cheek, "because you love me, don't you remember?" He pulled away from Tim and his hands immediately were placed on his hips as he stared at him in disbelief, "you mean to tell me you forget that you're all madly in love with me, how rude!" He was just joking and it showed as he burst out into a wild fit of laughter this time, just something about being able to joke about being in love with a crazy feeling, but one that was so liberating at the same time. He wiped a tear from his eye as he finally started to calm himself down. It was Tim's turn to overreact and play the hurt party this time as he watched him, and all Carter could think of was Todd down the hall and what he'd say to all of this. He'd probably call them a couple of fruits, and then Carter'd tell him he was probably right and he'd thank him just to be kind. "Oh he knows what we were doing," he smirked giving a playful wink trying to make it sound as dirty as possible, but soon his face softened up as he kept his gaze fixated on Tim. "Trust me, nothing even remotely dirty went on in Todd's room, that'd just be weird." Todd was a good friend but not that good a friend for something to happen, "i'm thinking you might be right," he grinned as Tim was over his dramatic stage, or at least Carter had hoped.
Carter breathed heavily and sighed as he shrugged, Tim did know him better than he knew himself, and if he thought he'd love something Carter more than likely would when the time came. As the two left the dorm Carter could feel himself starting to get nervous. He knew that things would get weird once they were in a big group, but at the same time he was excited to get to bring Tim out on a formal date, or whatever it is you could call this. He sighed as he scratched the back of his neck once the limo was infront of them, and he looked back towards the dorms with a sigh, "you know it wouldn't take too much effort just to turn around and go back to the dorms, and we could forget about having to wear these uncomfortable shoes all night," he chuckled looking over at Tim, but as he did his nerves lightened up and he knew he could not leave it at that and call it a night so early. He was going to bring Tim to this event, and they were both going to have a damn good time while there. He thought about it for a second and let out a faint chuckle, "so when 007 goes undercover he wears black instead of white? Makes sense, it could happen." Not like anyone would know because the man would be undercover, so maybe Tim had just figured out the big mystery behind the man. "I could be a bad guy," he shrugged thinking about it, there just wasn't a chance in hell he could be the bad one, but Tim didn't need to know that just yet.
Carter wanted to laugh as Tim did not accept his help getting into the limo, and soon he was situated making himself comfortable behind him. He could tell that as he spoke Tim was only half paying attention, so as he made the comment (in a form of question though Carter knew Tim could care less about the answer), so instead he just smirked as he looked around, "not really, I just thought that a limo would be the easiest way into your pants." He looked out of the corner of his eye to see if Tim had paid attention to that, and if not his joke had pretty much been wasted. When Tim asked the question about teams Carter sat there quiet as could be, "I don't know, the rational one maybe?" He shrugged, that was one question that Tim pretty much stumped him on. He loved watching Tim beside him get comfortable, and the conversation about food had him grinning as he leaned back even more putting his arm on the backrest behind Tim, "if there's not we'll just have to go somewhere else and eat, like Denny's as one in the morning, grand slam breakfast." He had no idea why he'd thought of that place first, but it might have been because he was craving an omelette. "I'm sure they'll have food there. Probably not a nine course meal or anything, but something othe than just those lame cheese and crackers. It is the mayors event, so he's going to want to look good to everyone," or at least that's what they always did in NYC, made sure to impress at every angle to gain votes in the next election. "Thanks for coming with me tonight," he mouthed quickly as he looked around not bringing his eyes to focus on Tim during that statement.
NOTES. ...for now i'll let him be the man just for now, but you'll see, the tables will turn one of these days!
