I said I'd never let you go and I never did

The one chance Silver had to get out of the house, away from her siblings, and out into the world. Of course, not to her digression Silver would have much preferred staying at home with a good book and her podcasts. Listening to people who sounded so confident and got their voice out there... it was amazing, it was inspiring... it was everything she wasn’t. She sighed as she adjusted the strap of her bag and made her way out the door. Where could she even go? It’s not like she had many friends in town. Everyone she knew was through her older brother or younger sister... not many were her own friends. Sure being on the tech team and part of the drama club helped out... but she was eighteen years old and still treated like a ten year old. It didn’t help that she looked like she was ten years old to boot. She was small, but she was not graceful. She was a bit of a klutz on her feet, and it seriously affected her ability to play sports. She wound up injured in some way every game. She quit playing any kind of sport once she got to high school. She was a techie and a drama geek... and she much preferred it that way. She got to work with computers and specialized equipment that needed someone to look into the finer details. She got to be a part of productions where she could be anyone but herself. That’s why she loved drama club so much... she was everyone but herself. Silver did not like herself. As a matter of fact you could say she was on the verge of hating herself. She wasn’t pretty and blonde like her younger sister. She wasn’t tough and smart like her older brother. She was meek and gentle and forgettable. Some days, yeah, being forgettable was great. Other days... not really. She was always living in someone’s shadow, never actually being known for who she was as a person. A sigh left her lips just at the thought of this. She couldn’t imagine going through life with someone else’s image hanging over her head... but she was living it. Maybe getting out was a good thing... a really good thing. She didn’t have to wonder what the next celebration was going to be about. Silver tossed a few books into her bag, as well as her ipod, a soft blanket, some water, and a couple snack packs. She’d tell her mom she was going to the mall, when in reality she was going to spend her time in Bakers Barn. It was quiet, old, and abandoned, and during the day it was a whole lot quieter than it was at night. It wasn’t the safest place for smokers, which was why silver was glad she didn’t. She managed to get away from her family without too many problems, and the trip to the barn was a lot quicker when you had a car. She tip-toed her way inside, before finding a nice area of hay (with very few cow bones) to set up. She laid her blanket out and plopped down on it, pulling out her iPod, she plugged her headphone in and cranked the volume. She was pretty sure no one would bother her in here. The song that was playing through the headphones at the time was Have Faith in Me by A Day To Remember. It was part of her alone time playlist. She proceeded to pull out the cliché drama geek Shakespearean play of Romeo and Juliet to read. It was a classic, it was her favourite, and it was currently keeping her occupied for the next few hours... it also had her distracted from whatever else happened to be going on in the barn around her.
