- Feel free to register using whatever name you would like, but once an application is up we ask that you change your display name to whatever you'll be calling your character. Please write it out as first middle last, all lowercase letters, so that it's uniform with the other active users.
- There is a limit of SIX characters allowed here so please remember that when you're registering a new account. We do make allowances though so if you feel you're active and can handle a seventh PM an admin to discuss. We ask that there is only one character per account though so please do not put more than one under the same account or the app will be refused.
- If you have more than one character we ask that you keep them all active, and if we see that you're favoring one and only logging into the other (but never posting) we're going to have to delete them. We will give you one warning before this happens, but if we notice you're still not doing anything we will delete the account without any other mention.
- Once an account is created you have three days to post an application. We have noticed that people make accounts, log in, and then do nothing with them after that so we end up having to delete them. Asking for an application before three days after registering shouldn't be a deal breaker.
- Please try to keep your avatars 150px in width or under, to avoid stretching the boards. Also, your signatures should be around 500px wide at most. For avatars, we suggest 150x200px or 100x100px, and for signatures, two 200x300px 500x300px or 400x200px.
- There are different applications for each member group so please use the correct application! Each application template is easy to find (quick link on the sidebar even) so we make it easy to use the correct app.
- When posting an application we ask that the subject be written in the following format (LAST, first middle). Last should be all caps and first and middle should be lowercase. It keeps all applications uniform and looks better for the game.
- If you post an application that isn't entirely finished please let us know that by posting a [WIP] or [ND] (or anything really) in the subject line. We will give you three days from the time the application is posted before we move it to our dead profiles section. We figure three days is more than enough to finish the short app that we provide.
- After an application has been accepted you have five days to start posting. If you do nothing with your character five days from the time you register we'll be forced to delete the account and open up the face claim once more.
- To be considered active you must have replied to a thread within the past two weeks. We don't think it's fair for the active members to have to put up with activity checks each month so we've done away with them. Instead the staff look at each individual account and delete those who haven't posted in longer than two weeks. We don't look at your last login but instead when the last time you posted in character was. That is what our activity is based on.
- Do not bring a character around the game for only one storyline. This is a city based game that is very active, and we hate seeing accounts that only write with one other person without branching out. Where is the fun in that? If you want to have a character around here we're going to need you to plot them up and thread with others. This game will not become clique-y, I personally will not allow it, and if I see it happening I will step in and give you a warning.
- The only time we allow activity to die down is when you post a hiatus. We understand that people get busy in the real world and we get that, but in the past we have noticed that people with upwards of six characters are posting in the hiatus board once a month. If we see that happening we're going to ask you to delete all of your characters except for one. It's not fair to have all these extra characters that aren't going to be doing anything for a while is it? You're more than welcome to bring the characters back once you're active, but until then we're going to limit them.
- There will be no plugging of sites allowed in either the IC or OOC chatbox. We have an advertisement section for that so head there if you want to do some pimping. That means don't even link your name to a URL outside of this game unless if it deals with your character or something that's not RP related. If we see you pimping other sites we'll warn you and delete the message, and if it continues we'll be forced to ban the IP. Nothing bugs members in the cbox more than hearing about other sites.
- Members might also find it aggravating when other members keep pimping their own characters, so please do not harass them to plot you up or take your wanted ad. You can post a link to either/or under your name but please don't keep pestering people. It sometimes does more harm than good.
- Drama is only allowed in the in character cbox! It's a city chatroom so I expect fights to break out and language to get out of hand, but do not let the drama leak over to the OOC box. That is strictly for people to have a friendly conversation while they're hanging out around here.
- Respect is mandatory for all members, staff members, and even guests. The site will not tolerate any less, and if you're caught being disrespectful towards anyone we will have no choice but to delete you from this board. For guests, the cbox logs all IP addresses so we'll be forced to ban any that are being rude to our members.
- This is a city based game, so there are characters of all ages running around, and we would appreciate it if they looked their age. We will try to keep them relative to how they look in the graphics you choose (for example you can pick a pb in their thirties, but if you use photos of them as a teen you could play them as such). Do not post a photo of George Clooney at present day and call him a senior
citizen maybe, not high school. We will watch these closely and if we feel they aren't appropriate for their age we'll ask you to make them older. Please do not argue with the staff about this issue (you need to respect our decisions).
- Realistic Storylines are a must. Pregnancy seems to be the biggest one, and we see people butchering those storylines everyday. If you want your character pregnant don't think in a week you'll be able to have the baby. We want the storyline to draw out, we want to hear about her swollen ankles and weeks of agony, so if you're not willing to go through the entire thing don't get your character pregnant. Our RP has been around for a while, and will continue to be, so I have no worries that you won't be able to finish your line. Also, no superpowers or claims to come from outerspace. You know realism so please use it.
- Please, this is a word-based game so we expect people to proof-read their posts before pressing that reply button. Too much time shouldn't be spent on trying to figure out what the other writer is talking about. Use spell check if you're not sure exactly how to spell something. A mistake here and there won't be too big of a deal, but a mistake every other line will not be tolerated. A warning will be issued if we see this happening.
- WIT prides itself on being a no wordcount game, but we still ask that there are no one-liners. You don't have to write 1000 words a post, but at least give the others something that'll be easily responded to. You shouldn't worry about what others think of your writing technique, everyone is different, so have fun and write how you feel most comfortable. We do not mind if you write in third (widely used) or first (rarely used). We are all about quality over quantity around here, so don't be afraid to just be yourself when it comes to style and technique.
