[/div] home was where dallas felt most comfortable. it was nice to be able to be outstretched on the sofa with the tv flickered on, playing some dumb ass reality show that he's managed to get hooked on. dallas never had to worry about being stared at when he was at home, it was only him living there, the only person who stared was himself whenever he happened to catch his reflection in a mirror. dallas didn't really mind living on his own, it had very many perks such as being able to be independent and not rely on anybody else to keep him going every day, but of course... it really was quite lonely. that was one thing dallas hated most, being on his own. he didn't like that feeling of looking to his side and seeing an empty space on the couch or in his bed, company was always greatly appreciated. that's why dallas had called lucy, the girl who he loved so very dearly, and asked her to come and spend the night with him in their common sleepover style.
he'd already managed to drag his mattress downstairs, although it was more a case of throwing it and hoping for the best. carefully, dallas laid out his duvet and several pillows, before finally collapsing onto the comfortable surface with a sigh. he loved having lucy over, if he could he'd ask her to move in with him full stop, but there were always them difficulties that got in the way. the main one was of course dallas' injury, for he never really discussed it with the younger female, if it ever came into conversation then he'd brush it off completely and change the subject to something totally irrelevant. it was just one thing that dallas seemed unable to do, he couldn't come clean about what really happened that day out on the front line, and there was certainly no way in hell that dallas would ever tell her about his hospital appointments and she'd never even seen his scar. that's why he couldn't live with her, he knew she'd ask too many questions or one day demand that he answered her.
sitting up so that his back was propped against a pillow that rested on the edge of his couch, the male reached over to the coffee table to take one of the glasses of red wine that sat there. dallas always found nights a little more enjoyable with a little alcohol mixed in, though of course getting drunk was never on the table, not anymore. taking a sip of his drink, dallas' eyes glanced up to the television that was opposite, he'd recorded several episodes of jeremy kyle to play back-to-back as a form of entertainment for himself and his best friend, but he knew it would only end up as background noise. what dallas really wanted was a cosy night in and a big chat about absolutely everything (well, almost everything), thankfully the front door was unlocked so lucy knew she could let herself in without dallas having to lift himself from such a comfortable position. lucy sat down and let out a groan, hoping her frustration would get on her mother's nerves. her father coughed loudly, signaling for her to stop. the only reason she listened to her father was because he was helping her with the apartment search and he wasn't as bad as their mother, but his every day absences were just as annoying as her mother. finally, both of them finished and lucy was finally allowed to go. she ran up the stairs and to her room where she made sure that she had everything she needed. they were next door neighbors, but lucy really wasn't planning on coming back her tonight. she would have rather walked to the store a block away and buy what she needed than return here. lucy had done it before and she wasn't afraid to do it again. when lucy was done, she grabbed her bags and headed out the door. it looked like lucy had packed enough stuff to move to dallas' house but one of her bag was just filled with junk that she couldn't keep around her house without it being thrown out. lucy told her parents she was going out and walked out the door without even giving them a kiss goodbye.
the walk to dallas house was a little lengthy since the bag with her clothes, shoes, and other things was extremely heavy but even being outside was better than her house. which was why she always looked forward to nights with dallas. she didn't have to worry about hiding junk food from her mother or have to be stuck with people that made jumping out her window enjoyable. she couldn't wait till she had enough money to get her own place. lucy just walked into dallas home, after years of knowing him, she had known that she didn't need to knock. she went inside and immediately walked to where dallas was. "care to give me a hand, lazy boy" lucy joked.
it's fine!(: |

[/div] dallas' eyes had been fixed onto the tv screen, the story at the bottom read, "my dad used to beat me... should i let him see my daughter?" of course it captured dallas' attention immediately. it was as if he knew that something bad was gonna happen, and that's where the entertainment from this show came from, that and laughing at how gross most of them are. a man stormed on stage, dallas guessed it was the guy's dad and damn he was angry. even spit was leaving his mouth as he screamed at the boy, claiming that he never hit him but oh- "holy fuck." dallas' eyes widened as he heard a loud thud, the clear sound of a fist connecting to someone's jaw. knitting his brows, dallas watched slightly horrified, this guy was a clear nutcase! but... he reminded him of a sergeant he knew back when he was in afghanistan, sergeant o'callaghan, he wasn't that much older than dallas was, only twenty-six, but he was crazy. o'callaghan was way more determined than dallas could ever been, the man would do absolutely anything if it meant achieving the unachievable, including risking his unit's lives. but that was something that dallas never marked him down for, in fact the younger boy looked up to him and indeed, he was sure that o'callaghan had a soft spot for him. the sergeant would always look at him a little differently than the others, he was far more protective of dallas which of course caused a problem when the boy got shot. o'callaghan blamed himself, he wouldn't talk to anyone about it... dallas wondered how the man was like at the moment, he'd never had the guts to get into contact, what he feared most was that the rumours of his sergeant being in love with him were true.
with the sound of the tv blocked out by his noisy thoughts, dallas tilted his head downward and glanced down at his bare chest. he'd often catch himself thinking back to life in the army, to say he simply missed it was an understatement. sighing, dallas was thankful when he heard the latch on the door unlock as lucinda made her way in, the girl could always distract him. glancing up, dallas raised a brow, "lazy?! i just carried this really heavy mattress down the stairs." but the silly grin on his face confirmed that of course he hadn't, and it wasn't heavy in the slightest. "alright, alright, hang on a minute." dallas managed to get himself to his feet, he grit his teeth to ignore that familiar pain he always felt that traveled through the nerves in his leg. taking one of lucinda's bags, dallas hauled it up to his shoulder, "jesus christ, what the hell you got in here?" he teased, before slowly limping to the other side of the room to place her bag at the side. dallas never used his crutches within his own home, his doctor told him that he needed to at least try exercise it to see if it will strengthen over time, of course there showed no signs of improvement but it wasn't what dallas had been saying to lucy. nope, dallas had been telling her that he was getting better every single day, he knew it was wrong to lie but he hadn't the heart to tell her the truth.
carefully making his way back, dallas stood opposite the smaller, younger female and placed his hand on her shoulder to help balance himself. the boy cocked his head as he slowly ran a finger through her hair, twirling the pink strands that remained, "i still can't believe your parents made you dye it back, i was beginning to like my new cotton candy best friend." dallas joked, pressing his lips affectionately to her temple, "mm, but how have you been anyway, love?" he asked, flopping himself back down onto the mattress, scooting over so that there was room for lucy beside him. "oh well excuse me then. next time, i'll try to remember that you're being lazy for a reason" lucy teased. it was so much more fun being like this with dallas. yeah, she had friends that were amazing but there were moments when lucy would say the wrong thing, they would get upset, and there would be this big dramatic thing. and god knew, lucy hated drama. one, because she didn't know how to handle it, and two.... well she couldn't come up with a second reason but the first one was good enough. lucy thought about it, she really didn't know why bag had what in it. "either you're carrying my clothes or you're carrying all the junk food i've been able to sneak into the house" lucy said. the latter wasn't that heavy except for the bottle of wine she had swiped from her parents which was cushioned by the candy and bags of chips. yes, it meant dipping into her apartment money, but it was all worth it. lucy wouldn't have been able to make it through the day without her stash. she felt bad as she watched him limp to move to the other side of the room, but the thing that made her feel better was the fact that he was getting better. lucy had been so scared that he was going to be hurt for life but that would never change the fact that dallas was her best friend. and she just had to play the girl card around him. lucy let a laugh slip out of her lips at the mention of her pink hair. okay, so it wasn't one of her better colors but it wasn't as bad as the first time she dyed her hair. she had messed up with colors and ended up with a green blue color that clashed with everything she wore. "i know, i wouldn't have listened but they threatened to stop paying my phone, and god knows that's one thing i can't live without. " lucy said.
lucy turned and let herself fall on the mattress, letting her hair fall in every direction. "horrible without you, dear" lucy replied. she was only half kidding, she really did miss the boy. between work and dealing with her parents' latest drama, she had not been able to have a sleepover in a while. "and you? "she asked.
ah im soooo sorry it took this long! |
