Last year it had been Kayla herself who had taken part in the date auction. She’d had fun with it even if she had been auctioned off to a guy she couldn’t stand. At least he had paid for dinner and acted like somewhat a gentleman for the night, even if she would have rather been with someone else. She kind of wished she had signed up again this year but it had been too late, although she was now single so she could in fact be the one to get someone tonight, not that she was thinking that anything would come of it, because she did like someone else but maybe going for another guy would be an attempt to make him jealous. A lame and overdone attempt but she didn’t really care, it was something and she was going for it, she knew her looks got her a lot of male attention, but why should she be sorry for getting male attention? She really wasn’t and since she wasn’t with anyone she didn’t know why it would be a problem. In her mind it wasn’t at all, and even if it was, she did not care. This was her desision right now and she was happy with it, screw what other people thought, just like she normally did. She kind of liked the fact it got her attention, but at the same time she didn’t want people calling her bad names, even if she could handle it, that didn’t mean she didn’t find it a little hurtful, she just could hide it well.

She had chosen a dress that was her sisters, well her sister had lent her it and she’d not yet returned them and the shoes she had got as a present. Over the years she had gotten used to wearing dresses and skirts, even though she was much more comfortable in just casual wear she now wore more dresses than she did at sixteen, maybe more often than she would like, but still that didn’t really matter because it was an event she was fine dressing up. She didn’t know whether Gary was going tonight, she presumed he would be since he always seemed to be at the local events, and usually one of them could persuade the other to go if they were undecided. She hadn’t had to persuade him to go, in fact they hadn’t really mentioned it but if she knew him right he would be there. She thought the best thing to do would be to call just to double check, and let him know that she was going out. Ok I am off to the auction now, even though I think I am speaking to myself right now! she called as she opened the apartment and walked out. She really liked living with Gary, even though the area was in the best place in town, and she would have lived in the ‘normal’ area, she was happy that she was living with him and not some weirdo, she’d never liked Bree’s roomie and was glad that he had gone off somewhere if she was honest. He creeped her out.

When she got to the date auction some brunette had just been bid on....by Donnie. She looked around to find him and gave him a cheeky grin Have a good night, don’t do anything I wouldn’t do she winked. She went to the bar and bought herself some shots with her fake ID, finding it quite sad that she was here on her own at the moment she pouted slightly. Then she looked at the next person on stage,the guy was pretty good looking, and for some reason she found herself bidding, even though he was obviously older than her. Not that the age difference bothered her....more her impulse to just go ahead and do it. Well she had won, wait....no one had bidded higher? Why did she have to have those shots, they always went straight to her head! She decided she should go and talk to the guy, introduce herself anyway Hey I’m Kayla..... she laughed slightly You’re Wesley right? she said So, since I bid you does that mean that I gotta take you on a date? I gotta warn you I’m not rich she said I only did it for a little bit of fun, I feel bad you got stuck with me she shrugged.
