personality: Eccentric, Weird, Odd and 'that girl' are just a few of the terms used to describe Adelaide. She is incredibly self-conscious about her stutter and constantly feel as if people are judging her for it. Adelaide often speaks a little slowly, choosing every word carefully but her stutter is bound to slip into her sentences regardless. When it comes to social situations she keeps to herself, rather fond of people watching. She's also been known to following stranger's around, her curiosity gets to the best of her sometimes. She loves to learn about everything from whales to ancient history to fairytales and magic tricks. Adelaide adores a good conversation and is so painfully in love with libraries. When it comes to school, she's an absolute geek. And yes, that includes math. She finds it interesting, every bit of it. She also happens to be a little idealistic, convinced that at least everyone has something good in them and goes out of her way to find beauty in everything.
Adelaide is a little naive and bad at picking up sarcasm, crude humour and is too quick to trust people. She's not aware of a lot outside her little bubble of thought and her friends and family. Adelaide is a rather nervous person, prone to wringing her hands and is often in a flurry. Despite her efforts to speak slow, if she's around someone she doesn't know that well or a cute guy, per se, she'll speak quickly and clutter almost every word. For her life after high school, she's not exactly sure what she wants to do. Work in a museum? Be a teacher? Be an astronaut? Be part of an orchestra? She doesn't know yet but she's too focused on reading to really care about the future.
In a nutshell she's just a haphazard girl with messy hair and an affinity for random, useless knowledge.
likes: Magic tricks, sparkly shoes, library books, buying knick knacks from thrift stores, plastic animal masks, hats, classical music and sushi.
dislikes: Swimming in public pools, houses with only monochromatic furniture, going to the doctor's, cucumbers and the taste of toothpaste.
strengths: Good Memory (only with things she learns&reads, she's hopeless when it comes to remembering where her other shoe is), Gentle and thoughtful.
weaknesses: Adelaide is prone to 'freaking out' if she gets too overwhelmed, confrontation, understanding sarcasm and crude humour.

hometown: they're hometown. duh?[/ul]

lux, honey, what are you going to do with all those cakes? the words barely registered, her music playing at high volume. she walked past the women with flaming red hair, a cigarette hanging from her hot pink barbie lips. As she walked, she struggled to balance the five cakes in her arms. All different flavors, colors and sizes. And unfortunately, only three days away from expiring. Lux had lucked out, but the sad thing was....how could the relatively tiny girl manage over ten thousand calories by herself in three days. And so far, she was coming up dry. Not an idea in mind.
The bus ride was uncomfortable, countless eyes on the pile of lucious pastries in her lap. The walk home was awkward, it was not easy trying to keep five individual cakes from tobbling over. With an exhausted and dramatic sigh, she shoved each cake, one by one, into the fridge. The same sigh repeated as she fell back onto her couch, a cigarette already place between her lips, her eyes locking on the smoke drifting towards the ceiling as she thought.
Six smoke rings and three and a half metric songs later, the idea hit her like a train. Lux was rather shocked and disappointed with herself that she hadn't that of it earlier, it was just an obvious answer; Holden. Lux bribed him with cakes almost like it wassexmoney. Without cake she was sure Holden would go into a sugar with drawl, the thought of it made her laugh. well, more like a quiet silent
chuckle.
"You + Me + five cakes = cake-asgm. I suggest you and your stomach get over here right now, fairy princess." Hitting send as she lit herself another cigarette, switching off her ipod and turning on her television. Holden and Lux, in simplest terms, were a very strange pair. If they weren't discussing the possibilities of racist ducks or laughing at Lux's fat ass uptight and balding manager, then Lux was asking one too many questions and studying the weird boy, notes and all.
All in all, he was her best friend and without him she would be at a lost of a very fascinating and fantastic person. Of course she had other friends, the majority of them male at this point, but that came as no surprise to her. Lux had always gotten already much better with males then females. She found them less dramatic, mellow and less prone to flipping out on her over the smallest of things. Did it bother her that she was without a female friend to confine in? No. But it wasn't like she was completely without female companionship, there was Juliette. A fifty-some ex-hippy and the closet thing to a mother she had ever had. Lux visited the women as often as possible, and she was on the phone with her constantly.
Lux barely bothered to wait for Holden's reply, she already knew he'd come. She took out plates and forks and knifes, cups for milk and bottles of water. All lined to perfection on top of an old antique table cloth on her coffee table. A pile of movies placed by the television, any and all films that went well with cake and sugar highs. And a play list was chosen, ready to play when the movies ran out. It would take some time for the five cakes to be eaten, two of them were enough to feed thirty people, all together that is. The cakes weren't the only thing they'd be eating, she also put out two packs of chewy cookies she'd bought the day before.
Once she was done setting up, she finally changed from her horrendous uniform into much more comfortable, and cake inspired, clothing. Everything she wore was a pastel, the colors mainly used for the cakes from the grocery store. She looked like a walking and talking pack of Easter m&m's. ,
Now the girl had to play a game which made her fidget and itch: the waiting game. Lux hated waiting, she was impatient and anxious. If it was in a line at the store, or a ninety minute line for a roller coaster the surrounding strangers were doomed to death glares and restless mumbles. Lucky for a few individuals, she was left to mentally squirm in her tiny little box of a home. Regardless e of the fact that she knew what the answer would be she still needed the clarification, the near-tangible acceptance to ease her fidgeting.
A distraction was what she needed, she'd already managed another cigarette by now. Watching the smoke fade away in the blades of the buzzing fan, she'd already made monsters sounds and voices through the plastic barrier, laughing at how ridiculous she sounded. The television would be her savior, she'd find something to watch on her boring, beat and old picture box. The discovery channel junkie was doomed to only fifty some channels, cable was horrendous and did not feed her need for more then one movie channel.
According to her clock it was half past reality shows and soap operas. Her face contorted with disgust as she found herself watching TLC, who the hell wants to watch an annoying as fuck women and her eight children? She hated people who subjected there families to grow up under a microscope for a few ratings from desperate housewives and a high pay check. The Duggars were the worst of the reality show families....she shuddered at the thought of them and their little cult.
However, Lux did find herself often watching The Learning channel to watch their medical documentaries and untold stories of the ER. But for the current time, she was at a lost of remotely entertaining television and eventually settled for a sitcom with a bunch of grandmother's dressed in colorful pant suits, how exciting. Laying on her couch in reverse, her feet on the back and her head on the floor.
Out went her dead cigarette in her purply-pinkmagentaash tray, only to have another take it's place. As the nicotine filled her lungs, she stifled a laugh and coughed out a cloud of smoke. Who knew an old hobbit women could be funny?
