Carter had found himself avoiding his room at all costs ever since the meeting with the roommate. It's not that he had found him to be a bad person, but it just was weird being in the same room as Tim and not getting to hold him. Carter, well he always thought that he'd at least get to cuddle with Tim even if nothing else would come out of the relationship, but now that this new guy was in the room they barely got any time alone to even just chat. He hated it, the whole point in bringing him to school with him was so he could be close to him, and it just seemed that with this new roommate the two were forced to move further and further apart. Sadly there was nothing that he could do about it either except sit back and just accept it, and sometimes that is what bugged him the most.
Most of the time though he found other things to occupy his time, but mostly he'd found that he'd just end up spending most of the night in the coffee shop before going home. He had known the person that had the closing shift, so he'd leave the lounge open while he cleaned up and counted money or whatever he did, and Carter would just relax on one of the couches that had been in the shop. He would then wander home when it was super late and both his roomies were sleeping, and that way he wouldn't have to talk to either of them and could just lay awake in bed until he'd finally passed out for good. He hated how he seemed to be hiding from his best friend but he just could not do it. He could not be in that room with him and not get to touch him, or at least hug him. It would just kill him to be able to look and not touch. Why on earth did he want a room with more than two beds in it? He groaned as he could hear his friend in the back yelling about something though he honestly wasn't paying much attention as he was fiddling with his phone.
He figured it'd been a while since he'd talked to Tim, well less than a week but even just a single day seemed like forever when it came to the two of them, so he thought he should at least call the boy to let him know that he was alright. Sure the two had seen each other in the room and such but Carter had been rather short and quick to get out of there, so he'd been feeling bad. He pressed the speed dial number and heard the ring only to hear the voicemail come on moments later, and of course looking at the time he figured the man was probably in bed or something. That was alright with him. He could leave a message and at least that would show some effort right? He sighed as he heard the beep and a smile brushed across his face, he had to look happy or the sadness would come off in his words he feared, so he hoped he was pulling it off good enough. "Hey, it's just me. I know it's late but I just thought i'd call and see how you were doing since we haven't had too much of a chance to chat. I'm sorry about that, i've just been super busy and I feel bad and all. You know how it is when you get a pile of work and the diner has wanted me to play a few nights, and I just-" He stopped talking as he'd heard the beep on the other end of the phone signalling the message had been done. He had talked too long for it to record his full message. He sighed as he pressed the end button and put his phone on the table infront of him. This was just lovely that he was busy hiding from the one person he needed to be around. He stood up leaving his phone on the table as he walked towards the door, "I'm just going out to get some air, don't lock up my phones still in here!" He called as he heard the other holler an okay as he opened the door and could feel the cold air rush across his body.
He had been wearing a sweatshirt thankfully so he pulled the hoodie up over his head as he stuffed his hands into the front pocket looking down at his legs. His black skinny jeans were at least hugging his body and giving him some warmth so that was good. He couldn't see anyone around campus this late at night so he figured he'd be safe for now, and since Tim hadn't answered he knew he could sneak back in the room later with no problem or hesitation. In his mind, although it was upsetting not to be with him, this was all just for the best. He had to avoid him if he could not hold him in his arms. [/blockquote]

[/i] miraculously cross paths. By Friday, it was all he could think about. Not our Timmy's most favourite week ever. To top it all off, he'd lost his phone charger somewhere along the way. He knew it was in the dorm, but he wasn't exactly keen to spend hours searching through the mess for it. Especially since he knew that, this time, Carter wouldn't be around to piss himself with laughter because he'd known where it was all along. To tell the truth, Tim was beginning to think that having Chris around wasn't all that grand, after all. But maybe, if he could just talk to Carter about it, they'd be able to figure something out. So, come Friday evening, which saw Tim getting home around ten and still entering a vacant dorm, he decided it was time to take matters into his own hands. Carter had had a week to sulk. That was time enough. Tim committed himself to finding his charger, bringing his phone back to life and then, if his best friend wasn't home by then, call him and arrange a meeting. Yes, he would have to schedule time with the man who used to beg for his. You're being melodramatic, his mind told him, and he sighed. So maybe it wasn't that bad, and Carter would probably be happy to hang out with him provided it was away from the dorm, but still... with a groan, Tim began his search. The couch cushions came up empty. This was disappointing, since he found everything else in there: a pair of clean socks (aka, gold), the DVD remote, various types of food and some spare change. He looked under his own bed, eyeing the pile of clothes buried their suspiciously. It would be easy for a phone charger to hide there, in months of unwashed shame. He decided to wait until he'd exhausted every other option. He looked under Carter's bed, but it was basically the same story with more shoes. He even tried the space beneath Chris's bed. It was still relatively clean. This wasn't going exactly as planned. The freezer yielded nothing; neither did the fridge, though he hadn't expected much from either. Not even the microwave had a single clue. He went back to look under the couch, finding some thumbtacks, nail clippers and another remote. Finally, he stood, looking around once more in frustration. " Where is it?" he demanded to the empty room, looking around it slowly. His eyes settled on the outlet in the corner. " Oooh..." Maybe it was a good thing neither of his room mates had been here - they didn't have to witness him find the charger he'd been looking for for the past three days plugged into the wall, exactly where he'd left it on Tuesday. Feeling more triumphant than embarrassed, Tim hooked up his phone and settled down to wait. After fifteen minutes, he figured fifteen minutes was enough time for a phone to get a bit of juice. He unplugged it, turning it on and looking through his messages. Nothing too important - a reminder about Kayla's party, a text from his little sister, the same old stuff. Then, his eyes drifted to the voicemail icon. 1 NEW. Suddenly hopeful, he pressed the button, raising the phone to his ear. Sure enough, it was Carter's voice coming from the speaker, and he breathed a sigh of relief. While he knew that Carter hadn't really been so busy that he couldn't spend even a moment in the dorm, it was good to hear that he didn't sound mad. Maybe a bit regretful, but that was exactly how Tim felt. As soon as the message ended, he dialed his friend's number, holding his breath as it rang. And rang. And rang again. Seriously, what was the man's deal? The voicemail hadn't been left that long ago. " Hey, it's Tim! Uh, I guess you just put your phone down or something, sorry I missed your call.. anyway, I was going to call you. Wondering if you'd want to do something? Just us? If you're not too busy, of course. Yeah. Talk to you soon, hopefully. Bye!" he managed to finish his message just in time, and closed his phone, feeling slightly breathless. Great, now he really missed Carter. He put the phone in his pocket, determined not to miss another call, and went to get himself a bowl of ice cream. Girls always said that made them feel better, so why wouldn't it work for him? ooc Dear Tim. First posts are not supposed to be this freakishly long. Love, Kitty.[/size][/ul]

Carter stood outside letting the colder air filter through his clothes striking his body as he just welcomed it. It was such a drastic change from the hotter than usual days so of course he could not complain. He would rather be cold than hot any day, well unless if it meant wrapped in a blanket cuddling with someone. Carter was a sucker for a good cuddle, no matter who it had been with, and even if he started sweating he'd refuse to take that blanket off. He could be very stubborn when he wanted to be. He shook his head feeling the wind brush through his hair as he smiled some feeling tension being released from his body. For once he was at peace with himself, too bad it had to be so late and in the middle of campus away from his room, more importantly away from Tim. He did not want to hide from the other man anymore, he couldn't, but it's not like he could just walk back into the dorm and pretend that the entire week of neglect hadn't just happened.
"Yo man, your phone was going off a couple minutes ago," His friend peaked his head out of the door clearly out of breathe, obviously he had ran from the back to try to reach Carter in time. Carter cocked an eyebrow looking over at him, honestly who in the world would be calling him right now? He nodded curious as he stepped back into the door and walked over to where his phone had been as he watched his friend turn to head back into the back. He saw that he'd had a new voice message but he could not check to see who the return number had been, his phone was lame and would not give him a missed caller if there had been a voicemail left, so instead he called up voicemail and went through the process to hear the message.
The second he had heard Tim's voice he practically squeeled sitting down and squirming in his chair some. The grin stayed present on his face when he'd heard the other ask if he wanted to do something, just the two of them. That is all that he'd needed to hear, that Tim had wanted to spend time with just him, and he quickly went to press the speed dial so he could get his friend on the phone. He stopped before pressing the send button as he thought about it more and could not call his friend back. He knew that he would be at the phone and it might be hard to talk to him, so instead he opened up the text message template so he could write a quick one out. At campus coffee shop, brads closing up so i've got joint to myself. meet up? He punched out as he pressed send and placed the phone back on the table infront of him now anxiously hanging over it so he could see if Tim would reply. He wasn't sure why he couldn't have just called him, something about it all had made him extremely nervous, but at least he'd sent the text right? That had to count for something, and if Tim really wanted to hang out he'd come sit here while Brad counted up stuff in the back. Honestly Carter could not see why Brad would want this job, counting cups and dirty dollar bills was not a good living in his opinion.
He figured he should at least ask his friend if he could have someone over though, as though Brad had owned the damn place. He ran over to the door leading into the back, only employees were allowed back there so he made sure to stay up front and just lean in, and he found Brad sitting there at the table counting and sorting out the money. "It cool if Tim comes down for a bit?" He asked as Brad looked at him curious. Brad of course had known of Tim so it wasn't too big of a bother, "isn't the whole reason you're here because you're avoiding him?" the man asked and Carter just laughed hesitantly bobbing his head around some, "Not really him, just, our entire dorm I guess. It's crazy, confusing." He honestly could not explain it, so instead of trying he batted his eyelashes in a girlish fashion giving the man a long "Please?" Brad couldn't say no to that face as he just shrugged and motioned for him to leave so he would stop messing up his count. Carter just grinned and thanked him as he hopped back out towards the table hoping to see a message as he reached for his phone. Nothing, what the hell, it'd been like five minutes since he'd sent that so Tim should have replied. Carter groaned, sometimes he was just too impatient and it killed him seriously. [/blockquote]

[/b]" he mumbled out loud as he read the message. Now that he thought about it, Carter had probably been there every night for the past week. How Brad dealt with him, Tim would never know - though he wouldn't mind spending every waking minute with the man, either, so he couldn't really judge. Suddenly filled with apprehension and excitement, he jumped up from the couch, grabbing his jacket from its hook on the door and sliding his shoes on. He was so distracted by the fact that he was going to see Carter, he forgot to reply to the text message. He also forgot about the melting bowl of ice cream he'd left on the coffee table. Within moments he was out of the building, walking briskly through the cool night time air. As he made his way toward where his friend would be, he couldn't help but let a large smile slide across his face. He may have even had the slightest skip in his step. He was more excited than a kid on his way to meet Santa Claus, and for once he didn't mind the realization. In no time at all, the light of the coffee shop came into view, and Tim slowed to a walk more appropriate for a regular guy going to meet his regular friend. After all, if he arrived all sparkly-eyed and flushed, Carter would probably be slightly suspicious. Brad, too. Sometimes, Tim wondered about Brad - he seemed to know more than he was letting on about things. Despite the fact that Tim's breathing had slowed down to normal, human levels, his heart was still racing. He hated when there was awkwardness between him and Carter, and with this whole room mate thing, it had seemed to have become a huge problem. Worse than the awkwardness, though, was the distinct change in their relationship. Tim had never really noticed how close - literally - they'd always been. How often they cuddled casually in front of the TV, or even snuggled before bed, or just general pats on the shoulder and mussing of hair. He felt almost naked without Carter when, really, he would much rather be naked with Carter... he decided to stop thinking about that, since showing up in a state of arousal would be weird, too. As he stepped up to the door of the coffee shop, Tim promised himself that he wouldn't let things be unnatural between them. Not because of Carter's week-long disappearance, not because of the fact that he was in love with him. All he really wanted, to be honest, was a good cuddle. He was practically depraved! Going into withdrawal, struggling to claw his way out of rehab, wishing desperately for the next hit. You need to stop with the metaphors, he told himself as he pulled open the door. Slowly, he stepped into the nearly-vacant shop, wearing an open expression. Playing it cool. Until he saw Carter, and felt the familiar jolt of affection, and had to physically stop himself from doing anything a friend wouldn't do. Amazingly, he managed an easy smile, shutting the door quietly behind him. " Hey," he greeted the other man quietly. His eyes fell to the phone on the table, and he frowned before looking back up at his friend. " Oh, crap, I forgot to tell you I was coming. Sorry," he apologized. Briefly, he wondered if the other man had been sitting there waiting for his reply. They hadn't seen each other in a while, so it would make sense... he refused to give himself the satisfaction of believing in the other possibility for even a minute. He glanced around, walking over to Carter's table. " Where's Brad?" he asked conversationally. ooc OMG CAN THE CUDDLE SESH JUST START ALREADY? Oh, and Tim + Carter = Tarter. Brilliant, I know. It took me this whole post to come up with that.[/size][/ul]

Carter looked at his phone once more as he sighed wondering why he had not gotten a single message back, but then he started to wonder if the man had just shut his phone off for the night or something. It was rather late so maybe he wanted some sleep and hadn't wanted to be disturbed by the phone ringing or something, but that couldn't be the case as he'd just asked him if they had wanted to hang out, just the two of them. Those few words had kept playing through his mind, just the two of them, and he couldn't help but grin like an idiot upon realizing how lame and lovestruck he had been for the guy. Things hadn't been about the two of them lately, there had been a third in the equation in the one place they could go to escape the world around, so it just didn't feel right for them. Carter was having a hard time accepting the man, he just couldn't seem to do it, but he knew one day would come around where he'd have to swallow his feelings and at least acknowledge the other man in the room. He groaned thinking about it running his hands through his hair. He was still in school, things should not be this damn complicated for him until he graduated and made his way into the real world. High school was supposed to be easy, damnit!
"RING DAMNIT!" He cursed at his phone that had been sitting on the table infront of him, but in reality he honestly would not know what to do if Tim had called him. He would have to answer because he had just sent a text letting him know where he had been, so Tim would know that he was around his phone, so if he hadn't answered he would probably think Carter was avoiding him or something. This whole entire week had been pretty much that though, so Carter had a feeling Tim knew more than Carter had wanted him to. He had just hoped that Tim understood that it had not been about him, but moreso the third in the room. He just, just thinking about the man sent him off on some wild tangent that he had a hard time coming back from, so instead of letting himself get carried away he leaned back on the couch that he'd fallen onto as he closed his eyes suddenly feeling very exhausted. He loved this coffee shop around campus, it was so comfortable and cozy, almost like the student lounge except there'd been less noise and coffee was being served constantly. It was like a silent paradise tonight though as he laid his head on the arm of the couch keeping his eyes closed as he could hear the faint sound of Brad shuffling around in the back.
He could fall asleep right now he'd been so comfortable, or at least he'd been before the ringing of the bell hanging above the door sounded startling all hell out of him. He bolted up and looked in the direction of the sound only to see Tim coming in and looking around. A smile instantly graced his lips as the butterflies started to swarm in his stomach. Carter honestly loved the feeling that his friend could give him, no matter how long they'd known each and how many times they see each other on a daily basis Carter could still get butterflies, and that was one of the reasons that he figured the emotion he'd been feeling for the other had been love, nothing less. He was unsure if he should stand up to greet him or just keep sitting as he sat on the edge of the couch now somewhat leaning off of it. When the door shut it'd been a lot quieter than upon entrance, but he figured the bell had been up there for times like this when the employee had been in the back or something. He watched Tim coming over towards him and his smile kept getting large with each step. "Huh? What? Oh, this thing?" He picked his phone up looking at it with an indifferent expression on his face, "It's alright, it's not like I was watching it like a hawk to light up or something, that'd just be lame." He laughed, though he had known that had been an absolute lie. He had done exactly what he had just joked about, but at least he hoped his friend wouldn't pick up on that.
Carter, still on the edge of his seat, nodded towards the back as the two were quiet enough that they could hear him scurrying around. "It's the end of the week so the poor bastard's stuck with inventory, he's going to be here forever." He would hate doing inventory at a coffee shop, especially with all the small things and different coffees around, but apparantly it had to be done and at least Brad was getting paid for tonight. "So, uh, how ya been?" He asked casually still looking awkward on the couch so he decided to stand up so he could at least appear somewhat normal as he stuffed his hands into his pocket swaying back and forth some on his heels. "You wanted it to be just the two of us so this place is pretty much perfect for that," There could be no chance of their roommate showing up and killing the night since the shop had been closed, but Carter quickly cut across the shop to stop at the door and deadbolt it locked. "I locked the door for you, Brad, it's just me and Tim now alright?" He called into the back, "Thanks, just don't make a mess or you're cleaning it up! Tell him I said hey," He knew that Carter sometimes could be reckless and rather destructive, all for fun of course, but tonight Carter hadn't even thought of it. Carter walked back over trying to appear as casual as he could as he laughed nodding towards the back, "He said hey," He did not have to say that though as Tim could have surely heard him, but still he couldn't help himself as he stopped right beside him.
"I have a small gig at the coffee joint in town on Sunday," He tried to make small talk but it seemed so forced, but that must have been because there was a huge elephant suffocating them in the room. He had to get rid of it but how could that happen? Carter knew of one way, it'd been the one thing he'd been screaming inside to do since he'd seen his friend, so without hesitation he stepped up right beside him bringing his hands up to tuck themselves around the others shoulders pulling him in for a monstrous hug, god he had loved the feeling of their bodies pressed together as he'd missed being in this situation with him. Things were so complicated now and he'd missed just the simplicity of even a hug, "I'm glad you showed up," THAT WAS SUPER LAME, he started to verbally harass himself in his own mind knowing that Tim probably did not want to hear such words from the others mouth. He did not want to let go but knew that he'd been squeezing rather tightly, and he did want to let the man breathe once or twice, so he let go but kept his hands on the others shoulders smiling at him, that elephant slowly decreasing in size in his mind. He leaned in brushing a soft and gentle peck on the others cheek before pulling him towards him once more in a hug, this one less suffocating. If he could only stay like this all night he would be so happy.
[ ooc, so i woke up this morning and was like "HOLY HELL I NEED TO CHECK FOR A REPLY, and the second I got on here I pretty much was like "YUSSS, SCORE!" and then Carter took over and he's like "SEXY TIME, SEXY TIME" and then he pretty much bombed my brain with thoughts of Tarter (HAHAAH, loved that when read...makes me want fish sticks [ewww] just so I can have sime Tim and Carter on my plate, LMAO) but yeah, Carter took over with a super mega crazy post! Enjoy, hopefully. Carter's muse is MASSIVE right now just so you know! ] [/blockquote]

[/b]" he answered, raising an eyebrow. He sort of wished he had been important enough that, for the past ten minutes or so since sending the text, Carter had been waiting eagerly for some sort of response. Unfortunately, his friend appeared to have been joking. He'd probably been laying there lost in thought or something, not thinking of Tim at all. Though, sometimes Tim wondered if this constant stream of thought telling him that Carter didn't feel the same were simply a form of secret denial. A subconscious refusal to see what was right in front of him... if only he could read Carter's mind, this whole thing would be much easier. Tim had been so distracted by Carter that he hadn't even noticed the obvious sounds of Brad in the back. Fortunately, his companion hadn't realized this at all. He grinned as the other man spoke, shaking his head. " That must suck. But at least he gets paid, right?" Tim seriously needed to find himself a job. After all, he couldn't just leech off Carter for the rest of his life, just as Carter couldn't leech off his dad for the rest of his life. Though, Carter did do his musical thing, so it was really just Tim being lazy. Of course, he hardly wanted to be thinking about all that right now; he was too busy taking in the wonder that was Carter, and wondering when it would not be awkward to wrap him in a giant hug. He had to smirk at the tense start to their conversation. This was so typical of them: a slightly rough beginning, but in moments they would be the same inseparable pair they'd always been. " Oh, I'm all right," he nodded, eyes following Carter's rise from the couch. He wisely did not mention the week of missing room mates. He also did not mention that he hadn't quite been all right, due to not having his daily dose of Carter, though he probably would've got away with that. He just wasn't sure if it would seem like he were accusing the man of abandoning him, and tonight he didn't want to point the finger of blame anywhere. Especially since it was basically his fault things hadn't been running smoothly (at least, in his opinion). " Howabout you?" he raised his eyebrows with the question. " Yeah -" Tim began to reply, then stopped short, surprised by Carter's sudden leap to bolt the door. And a bit amused. That silly grin was back on his face now, and try as he might he could not get rid of it. He glanced in the general direction of Brad's voice, feeling a bit sorry at the fact that Carter's friend was stuck doing inventory for the evening. Bad for him, good for them, it seemed. As Carter returned, repeating Brad's greeting, Tim chuckled. " Okay, tell him I say hi back," he ordered playfully. His uncontrollable smile became even wider as Carter stopped next to him. Really, Tim was far too happy being in his company. It also didn't help that every cell in his body was willing him to make some sort of move, and he held back with some difficulty, wanting to get a better feel for his friend's mood before doing anything. Unfortunately, Carter's next words revealed nothing. Tim still had the decency to look interested, though he was now well aware of the fact that they were tiptoeing around much bigger things. " Cool. I'll probably come by, then," he promised, glancing down at the floor. He was about to cough awkwardly when, finally, his friend did exactly what he'd wanted him to do. He beamed as the other man's arms wrapped around his shoulders, easily responding by wrapping his own tightly around his friend's waist. As usual, they fit perfectly, and Tim never wanted to let go. With that one small hug he already felt one hundred percent better, and could almost feel the barrier between them breaking into a million pieces. " I missed you," he mumbled back, Carter's words making him happier than the man would ever know. Reluctantly, Tim allowed his friend to pull away, keeping his hands lightly on his waist. He immediately brightened when, instead of letting go entirely, Carter just kissed him on the cheek and hugged him once more. He held the man close for a second and laughed. He was seriously giddy now. He also hoped that Brad had hours of work ahead of him so that Tim and Carter would be able to spend as much time as possible together. Though, if they had to leave the coffee shop, they could always find somewhere else to hang around. ooc I swear, Tim and Carter are working together to make us want to post, because I did the exact same thing as you and checked for a reply the minute I got up XD Now every time I have fish sticks I'm going to think of them.. not that I have fish sticks very often, actually.[/size][/ul]

"Okay, so maybe I was looking at it a little, not every second though." He had to give his friend an inch to feel important, because of course he was the most important person in Carter's life right now, but he could not give him a mile since it'd make him look too desperate. He did not want his friend to think of him as some pathetic clingy friend, but he wanted to at least give him some of the truth. At least he had given him a hint of the truth, he had looked at his phone to check for a message, but he'd been straight up lying when he said he hadn't looked at it most every second. Hell he remembered when he'd hollered at it, but of course that would not be brought up as it'd look entirely too desperate.
"I guess," He shrugged thinking about the job that his friend was doing in the back. Carter thought that he'd been doing a hell of a lot for little money. Minimum wage, even the thought gave him goosebumps as he thought that one day he might have to subject himself to something like that in order to survive. He knew he could not live off his fathers income forever, but then again he also knew with the amount of money he was surely to be getting he could live comfortable for quite some time at least. He hated thinking about money though, although he'd been rolling in the money figuratively he never liked to showcase it. He couldn't, not when he knew that it would make certain people uncomfortable. Tim for one, the man may have liked the luxuries every now and then, but Carter could tell that he much prefered the simple things in life as well. That is why he loved his friend so, just one reason out of the many why he longed for him at night, because at least Tim could open Carter's eyes to the things in life that really matter, things that money could not buy.
As he stood from the couch he'd been happy to hear that his friend was alright. He knew that he had neglected him for the week and that must have upset him, but he seemed to be doing alright as Carter could see the happy expression that had fallen across his face. He had locked the door thankfully, happy to know that nobody would be coming in to break up his good time with his friend while Brad worked himself into oblivion in the back, but he had to hurry himself back near his friend not wanting the space between them to grow too constant while they were together tonight. "I'm fine, been super busy and all but things are calming down," He tried to make a plausible excuse as to why he had been neglecting his friend, but in the end he had probably failed. Could Tim possibly believe that Carter had been too damn busy to spend time with him? "I've been playing with the house band at the coffee shop in town, their guitarist moved to Puerto Rico or some place like that." That had not been too much of a lie, but at the same time that small job did not take up all his time so he should have been able to hang out with Tim. "I shoulda invited you, I know how much you like to hear me play." He shrugged letting Tim it'd been no real big deal, just an hour here and there.
Carter, playing messenger for Brad to Tim, had probably looked like a complete idiot, but when he heard Tim speak from right next to him he just laughed. "I think I could do that," He gave his friend a playful wink as he turned around, his back to Tim for only a moment, "He said hi back Brad!" He voiced loudly, though it should not be confused with a holler. He could hear something from Brad in the back, mumbling of some sort, but he couldn't understand him so he just turned back to face Tim and shrugged some, a cute playful smile falling across his lips. Still, after talking to him for those few moments since he'd walked through the door, he could feel that something had been off. They weren't like they usually were with one another, something just wasn't right, but of course he knew that it'd been because it was so long that they had gone without seeing one another. When, on the odd chance, they did see one another Carter always pushed excuse after excuse at Tim as he made his way towards the door. Tonight it would not be like that though, tonight there would be no more excuses.
He knew that he'd been forcing the small talk, that he needed to change the atmosphere for things to flow better, so that is why after he'd heard Tim say that he'd stop by he couldn't help but hug the man. That is what he had needed the entire week, and ultimately it was what he'd been avoiding. He wanted so badly to just hug his friend each time he had seen him, but at the same time he just could not risk his friend and him being caught doing anything odd infront of Chris. The man seemed straight as a pin and the last thing he needed him to think was that his roommates were gay, or anything other than straight just like him. When he heard the three words come from Tim's mouth he could do nothing more than hug him tighter, "I'm sorry," He whispered, it usually being something hard for him to say but he'd honestly felt that Tim at least deserved an apology. That's the least he could do right? He had to let go of him sometime though, but that did not mean entirely, and after he kissed him on the cheek he went back and hugged him once more.
When he brought his head up and looked around that is when he noticed the lights were all on and the windows were open all around them bringing very little privacy, and the last thing that he'd needed people to see had been him hugging all over his best friend. "I'll be back, just a second." He loved this part of the night as he ran to the door where Brad had been snapping his fingers, "The remote, the remote," He grinned waving his hand frantically as Brad came over and gave him a remote. "Thanks I owe you one!" Brad nodded acknowledging that it'd been true as he went back to work and Carter grinned wildly as he returned to Tim. "This thing is so fun, i've been playing with it all week." He just hinted to where he had been the entire week instead of the dorm, something that he had not wished to do but it'd sort of slipped out. There was no going back though as he moved on with the conversation, "So pretty much this one remote controls the whole damn place, watch." He went and turned a knob and pressed a button as you could hear the metallic click of security blinds starting to stretch down the windows. He grinned watching them until he'd heard the locking click as he knew they'd been secured.
He loved the security blinds, of course the shop needed them so nobody was cute and tried to break a window or something, but also it was nice when Carter would shut them at night and randomly play on his guitar. "How awesome is that?" He asked, giddy as could be as he looked at the remote. He held all the power of that shop in his hand. "This is awesome too, watch this." He turned a smaller knob towards the bottom of the remote and the lights started to tone down until it'd been dark in there, and then he brought it back up to the power it'd been at before. "This is so much fun!" He could play around all he wanted since in the back they'd relied on good ol' fashioned light switches, and pretty much Brad knew what Carter was doing anyway from the start. He was used to the child like happiness Carter possessed over simple things like this.
[ ooc, WHOA THIS IS LONG >.> I swear Carter'll calm down, he's just trying to set the mood and beating all these ideas into my mind! Haha, wow I don't think he's taken over like this in QUITE SOME TIME. ] [/blockquote]

[/b]" he joked, knowing full-well that Carter had better things to do than wait desperately for a phone call from him. Still, it was a nice thought. He nodded in response to his friend's next words. Well, they were certainly off to an awkward start, talking about Brad like this instead of the thing causing the tension. Tim wasn't entirely sure he wanted to bring that 'thing' up, though - he knew he would have to eventually, but for now he'd much rather have an evening free of worry with just the two of them. Like he'd said in his message. Chris wasn't going anywhere; there would be loads of time to talk some sense into Carter. Besides, maybe once their room mate's drums arrived and he actually proved his skills, they would all be able to get along just fine. " Yeah, you mentioned that," he grinned as the other man spoke of how super busy he'd been. He realized that he staring at Carter right now, more or less unable to tear his eyes away. In the past, he had often felt despair and confusion alongside his affection for Carter, but at the moment he only felt love. Probably because he was still a bit guilty. For the most part, Tim was awful when it came to conflict. He couldn't hold a grudge, and he couldn't keep from apologizing for an insult unless the person really deserved it - and Carter certainly hadn't. He was maybe a bit upset that the other man hadn't made even a little bit of time for him, but he probably needed his space once in a while. They couldn't be around each other all the time, after all; they had separate lives and separate friends. If Tim acted upset about this, it would just be selfish. He raised an eyebrow as his friend continued. " Puerto Rico? Wow. Lucky for you, then." Tim had always supported Carter's musical ambitions. Back in New York, he'd gone to every show possible, and always helped Carter with flyers and stuff like that. Sometimes, he was afraid he might lose the man to fame or something, but he wasn't going to hold him back just because of that. Besides, he never doubted that Carter found their friendship important, so there was no reason to worry about being left behind entirely. Tim, too, shrugged when his friend said he should have invited him. " There's always a next time," he pointed out. He laughed as Carter passed his greeting on to Brad. He really had missed the him. At Carter's needless apology, Tim only tightened his hold on his friend, allowing an incredible happiness to engulf him. All week, he had felt almost incomplete. He'd suspected that it was because of the lack of Carter, and this only proved to confirm that. It was like the world was settling back into place, and suddenly everything was normal and good and fine again. He still could not wipe the huge smile from his face - his cheeks were even starting to hurt. As they hugged again, he laughed. " Anyone would think we hadn't seen each other for years!" he observed, acknowledging the delight with which they'd been embracing. He certainly felt like he hadn't seen the man in years, which was a bit strange. Was it normal to need to be around someone this much, even if you were hopelessly in love with them? That's probably the sort of thing google can't answer, he figured, though he decided to try once he was alone with a computer. It'd probably give him a bunch of psychology sites full of odd diagrams and long words. As Carter pulled away once more, Tim rolled his eyes. He'd been too caught up in finally being able to hug his friend to notice their lack of privacy, but watched the man run around with a sort of bemused expression. He felt a bit awkward standing in the middle of the coffee shop and eventually took Carter's vacated place on the couch, waiting for Brad to hand over the remote. Had he not been used to his friend's spontaneous ways, he would have been highly confused right now. As it was, he just waited to see what the man had in store, giving him a questioning glance as he returned with the device in hand. His expression quickly became one of amusement at Carter's excitement. And at his little slip of the tongue. " Aha! So you've been here playing with the remote instead of hanging around with me, have you? This had better be good. Let's see," he gestured for Carter to show him exactly how awesome it was. Then, his eyes flickered to the window, and his smile widened. " Oh, sick! It's like a spy gadget or something." Tim was always relating everything to spies. He was even more amazed when the lights dimmed. " Whoa," he breathed. It was sad, but he really was that excited about it. Which was probably why he and Carter were such good friends - they were both really amazed by the simplest of things. He was fairly sure he heard Brad chuckling in the back, no doubt listening to their exclamations. " Now I can see why you were so busy. I would be, too," Tim laughed, obviously knowing that this wasn't the real reason, as hilarious as that would have been. He held out his hand, giving his friend a pleading look. " Can I try?" Heck, even snuggle time could wait for him to check out the new toy. ooc I love when our Carter and Tim muses line up XD[/size][/ul]

Carter grinned shrugging his shoulders and letting his head falter from side to side, "It might have been that often," He made it sound like it was a far stretch of a possibility though, but of course the boyish grin appearing soon afterwards pretty much made it certain that he'd infact checked it that many times. "Came a time when I figured you'd just gone to bed or something though, so instead of looking like a complete fool I went to relax." He motioned his head towards the armrest of the couch where he'd been resting not too long ago. It was comfortable to be alone in the shop with his friend outback sorting and counting things, but when it had concerned his best friend he'd almost always opt to be with him instead of alone. Carter may have been avoiding him the entire week but when it came right down to it having him beside him right now made tonight seem so much brighter already, and although the two were just hanging out Carter had found himself smiling from ear to ear. Timmy, no matter what the two were doing, always made everything better.
He had known already that he had said something about being busy on the phone, but that is what happened when he had been nervous. He hated how he could not think of something better to say to him, but when he looked into Tim's eyes his thoughts flooded with emotion and he was left there rather dumbfounded and unable to comprehend normal thought. "I wasn't sure if you listened to the entire message, or if you just called me back when you heard my voice or something." He shrugged, at least that had been a somewhat good excuse for repeating himself. Carter had been guilty of that with random people, he'd know it was them so he'd call them back without listening to the entire message, but when it came to Tim he made sure that he could head every single word. He could never get enough of his friends beautiful voice, but he could never be too certain if Timothy had been the same way when it'd came to messages from Carter. He sometimes wished that he could swim around the others brain and figure out what he'd been thinking, but at the same time he'd probably just get upset when he realized his feelings were so much stronger than Tim's had been, so instead of setting himself up for failure he tried not to think about feelings too much. It was surely hard though whenever he could see that gorgeous cheeky grin of his friend. "I just, I guess I feel the need to let you know why I haven't been around this week, I feel bad." He shrugged, no need to beat around the bush. He had to be honest with Timmy about this. His best friend deserved at least that much from him.
He then grinned and nodded, "It's a good gig but most of the stuff they play is all this pop sorta stuff, like elevator music, and most of the time we're just sitting around in chairs plucking around on the strings." He shrugged, it had been a good thing because he'd gotten to play his guitar on almost a nightly basis, but based on the music and sound he wished it could have been something else. Either that or he wished when he looked out in the crowd he could have seen his best friend there, that could make even his most boring nights so much better. He had felt bad that he had not invited him though, "I just, I didn't think that you'd want to come to any this week with the new guy and all. I know you've been trying to get him settled in and shit. How's that going anyway?" He asked, nodding when Tim had said there was always next time. He had to throw that question in about the roommate though since he had not been around. He could only imagine inviting Timothy to one of the house band's gigs just to see him walk through the doors with that other guy. Even just the thought of it made his blood boil as he could feel jealousy taking over, so he quickly shook those thoughts from his mind not wanting to come off as angry or upset at all. "I'll be sure to drag you next time, if you're interested of course," He shoved his hands into his pocket for that instant where he'd felt entirely awkward. He just hoped that if he invited his best friend in the near future somewhere he wouldn't have to see the roommates mug right beside him.
At least once he'd wrapped his arms around the other and embraced him the awkwardness seemed to lift itself from the air around them. He could feel his body settling gently against his friends as he took a deep breath slowly exhaling to calm himself down even further, right now his heart had been racing. Carter had noticed that huge grin on his friends face, but honestly he could not say anything about it considering there had been one right on his face, as though mirroring his best friends emotion. He couldn't help himself though, around Tim he could not help but do anything but smile, he just had that effect on him. "They'd be somewhat right," He spoke simply before chuckling some, "An hour seems like a month, so if we haven't seen each other all week that's like-" He tried to do the math in his head but got as far as twenty four hours in a day, and when he tried to multiply that by seven or so he was lost. He had a simple mind and equations like that did nothing but aggravate him, "Well it'd equal a couple of years, at least." He grinned as he couldn't help but feel proud of himself for coming up with something like that. "They'd never understand us anyway, nobody would." He made the mention as he let his hands fall to his sides away from around Tim finally, he knew that he could not hold onto him all night or the other might find him too clingy. He had to watch himself around Timothy now just because he couldn't upset him, now that the new roommate had been around Carter had to make sure that Tim did not trade him in for a newer model so to speak. Yup, here comes the jealousy again.
He had to get away from him for a second to collect his thoughts, and of course the only thing he could think of was the remote. That would give them some added privacy and he could never complain about that. He grinned just thinking as he ran and waited for it to be put in his hands, and as he excitedly thanked Brad he turned back around to hurry to his friend. He knew that Tim could have just as much fun with this as he had, so of course he had no problem letting him in on the excitement. Okay, so honestly it was just a remote and all it'd done was close the blinds practically, but at the same time Carter usually found the simplest of things to be the most exciting, and this remote was pretty much as simple as it came. When he heard what Tim said though he could not help but bite the corner of his lip nervously, "Yeah, uh, sorry about that. Brad just hates being here alone so I thought i'd help him, keep him company." He motioned towards the back as you could hear something moving around back there. He had to laugh though at his excuse, here he was saying he was around to keep Brad entertained and yet he was nowhere near him tonight. He could blame it on inventory and not wanting to distract while he counted or something, but honestly it'd been nothing more than a poor excuse that Tim could probably see right through. "Of course it's good, it's great!" He tried to sound like Tony the Tiger but might have failed, his growl wasn't the best when he'd said that. Carter loved putting the gadget on display as he watched his friends attention rise to the window, "Yeah except it only works on this one place, so it's a pretty lame gadget huh?" He chuckled thinking about it, it was so damn cool though either way.
Carter had loved showing off the buttons on the remote, and he also loved his friends reactions just as much, but a frown seemed to replace the grin as he heard his friend use the word busy. Why did he have to lie about being busy? Sure he might have been busy an hour or so a day, but honestly that was about it and for the rest of the time he'd been doing nothing more than avoiding. He pulled his hand up and scratched the back of his neck nodding some in an uncomfortable manner, of course hoping that since he'd just given the remote over his friend would not recognize the awkward mood. Instead he focused his attention all around the room as he wondered what Tim would do first. "There are pictures on the dial so you can see all that it does, well out here anyway." He had loved shutting the security blinds and dimming the lights just so he could play his music in an intimate setting, just him and Brad but even that man had been working all of the time that Carter was around. "I hope you know you owe me a kiss for letting you hold onto that, one square on the lips." He smirked as he leaned over some puckering his lips wondering if his friend would kiss him for giving that new toy of a remote. [/blockquote]

[/b]" he nodded, looking to the couch in understanding. It did seem almost invitingly comfortable. The atmosphere in the empty coffee shop was calming, too. It was like some sort of sanctuary, and Tim could easily see why Carter had opted to come here instead of the dorm when he was avoiding Chris. Probably avoiding me, too, he reminded himself, wanting to be fair and not blame all of this on Chris. He was a pretty cool guy, from what Tim had seen. Tim laughed at his friend's next words, shaking his head disbelievingly. " Oh, yes, at the very sound of your voice I almost had a heart attack. I couldn't even wait for the fifteen-second message to end," he claimed. It was extremely close to the truth, though there was enough sarcasm in his voice that Carter wouldn't have to realize this. Then, smile becoming the slightest bit smaller, he admitted to his real reason for listening to the whole message: " I was actually afraid you were going to tell me off or something." Tim really hadn't known what was going on with Carter for sure. He knew the fact that they now had a third party in their dorm was part of the reason, but in the back of his mind he'd heard himself calling Carter difficult over and over, followed by a memory of the hurt expression on the other man's face. Tim hadn't know that such casually spoken words could deflate his friend to that extent, but evidently they had, and he felt absolutely terrible. Tim's eyes widened as Carter continued. " You felt bad? I was kicking myself all week for being such an ass to you. I mean, I shouldn't have tried to force you to like Chris right away, and I shouldn't have told him you were being difficult or anything like that, and... I dunno. I just should have known it wouldn't be easy to just accept a new room mate straight away." Well, he hadn't meant to say quite that much, but it was done now. It felt good to get it all off his chest. Now, at least, he could find out if Carter was actually mad about that or if he'd just been freaking out over nothing. Knowing his friend, it would be the latter. He already felt stupid. He winced when the other man mentioned elevator music. He hated that sort of thing. " Well, at least you got to play," he pointed out, still knowing Carter well enough to see that it had meant something to him to do the gig. Tim raised an eyebrow when Carter mentioned getting Chris settled. From what Tim had seen, the man could settle himself. He apparently already had so many friends that he was busy on a daily basis. " To tell the truth, he's been avoid - er, busy, too," he revealed, scratching the back of his neck. " The dorm's been awfully quiet this week." He laughed quietly, again considering how similar his two room mates really were. " I actually had to spend time with my other friends," he added with a groan, as if it were more of a chore than anything. It had been kind of good to have some time away from Carter, though, painful as it was. A bit of a breather. In the end, it had only shown him how much he actually needed the man, but at least now he wouldn't have to kid himself. Casually, he patted his friend on the shoulder and gave him a happy look. " When have I ever not been interested?" And he wasn't just talking about Carter's music. Tim, too, tried to do the math, but his head was buzzing too much with the excitement of having his body so close to Carter's and he quickly gave up. " Yeah, a couple years sounds about right," he laughed, " and you've changed so much since then! I mean, you must've grown by like a millimetre at least." Tim loved having the opportunity to tease Carter about his height. He really wasn't that short, but he was shorter than Tim, so he would use it against him. His smile grew when his friend made the observation that no one would be able to understand them - that was his favourite thing about their friendship. As far as he could see, aside from not admitting the true extent of his feelings, the two could be completely themselves around each other. They had too many inside jokes to count, and knew things about each other they wouldn't dare tell anyone else. And even if someone understood all of that, they still wouldn't be able to understand the weird romantic side of the relationship. Even Tim himself didn't get it, he kind of doubted Carter did either. " We must be seriously confusing to the outside world," he said by way of reply, then looked around them at said 'outside world.' He gave his friend a sceptical look at the claim that Brad didn't like being alone. As far as Tim knew, Brad had been doing this job for ages, and he certainly wouldn't be complaining about being lonely now. Still, he let the topic go. Obviously Carter wouldn't want to admit that he'd been trying to stay away from the dorms. " Brad's lucky to have a friend like you," he noted, though there was nothing accusing or demeaning in his voice. It was simply a detached observation meant to put a close to that part of the conversation. Besides, he was too distracted by the remote to think about it much anyway. He rolled his eyes at the man's lame attempt to be Tony the Tiger and instead turned his attention to the remote. Tim shrugged when Carte called it lame, still thoroughly impressed with the window trick. " Well at least it does something?" The rest of the world slipped away as the remote was passed to Tim's hands, and he looked down at it in awe before acknowledging his friend's existence again. For the time being, he blatantly rejected the kiss, seeing as a much better plan had formed itself in his mind. " Wright, Tim Wright," he said in a professional tone. Then, he quickly pointed the remote at the lights and turned them down. Casting a playful (and slightly flirtatious) glance to Carter, he sang, " brunurrn, ch," trying to mimic classic television sexy time music while the room became dimmer. When, finally, they had fallen into darkness, he leapt silently from the couch and and wrapped his arms around his friend, easily finding the other man's lips despite being practically blind. Almost as if he'd memorized their location. Though, it was kind of silly to memorize the location of a person's lips, since they were basically in the same place on everyone. Not seeing any point in continuing that stream of though, he committed himself to the kiss, heart exploding into a racing gallop at the contact. Unfortunately, he'd also managed to amuse himself to the extent that he began laughing after barely any time at all. ooc aww, tim could never trade carter in! xD though harry chris is quite sexy[/size][/ul]

Carter nodded, the tension in the air was killing him but all he knew to do was create that small chat that really wouldn't get their conversation far. He could see them chatting in circles, actually that is what he'd been doing when he'd bring up things were said during the first phone message, but that was only because he was too nervous to bring up everything that actually needed to be discussed. He needed to talk about how he had abandoned his best friend nearly an entire week just because he'd been jealous of another man in their room, but instead he just continued with this playful banter as he put an amused expression on his face. Then, before long, he started laughing hysterically as he looked at the other, "I knew i'd be the death of you one day," He shook his head ultimately disappointed by the outcome. "You were probably hanging on my every word. That's okay though, exactly how it should be." He smirked, he was sounded cocky but this was all to keep his joke going, or at least that is what he'd thought.
Carter had been full of jokes it'd appeared, or at least until he heard the real reason for Tim listening to the entire message. Carter immediately put his hands on the others shoulders catching his eye with that cocked brow letting him know he'd been more curious than anything. "Why would I do that?" He asked, his voice low as he'd been being serious for once, "I'd never have the heart to tell you off, I-" He could have just cracked right now and told him that he'd loved him too much to ever do that to him, but instead he just stopped talking and laughed, that cute little nervous laugh where you could tell he was trying to get himself out of a tough situation. "I'd never tell you off because you'd never give me reason enough to. All that minor shit's just water under the bridge, " He could never see himself telling Timmy off. Their other roomie though, oh yeah there were a few times he'd love to just let him have a piece of his mind. He took his hands off the others shoulders though as the serious mood had him slightly nervous apprehensive. He took a step back and scratched the back of his neck trying to relieve the tension he'd just caused himself.
Perhaps moving along in the conversation would help, but as he listened to Tim he knew that the mood would remain awkward for some time. Both boys had felt the need to say their apologies, after an entire week of avoiding and being left with nothing but empty thoughts of course that is what they wanted to do, but still he'd felt bad as he heard what Tim had to say. He should not feel guilty about what had happened this week. It had not been his fault. He had made the attempt to stick around the dorm while it'd been both Chris and himself apparantly disappearing. "You were being an ass?" Carter asked the question in a joking tone as laughter poured from his lips. "I mean, yeah it bugged me about the difficult part but I was over that like ten minutes later. I know I was being a dick, I just-" Again he could have brought up how much he'd loved him and had been jealous of the new living arrangements, but instead he opted out for an easier route, "I guess change doesn't sit well with me." Yes, he had just played psychiatrist and figured out what his problem had been, or what he wished it had been when in fact it was so much more difficult than a simple change is bad attitude. He nodded about the music though, at least that could lighten the mood when they talked about it. "Your keyboard might have fit better with that crowd than my guitar though." He chuckled thinking about it.
Carter looked away from Tim for a moment when he said that the other guy had been out of the room all week, and that it'd been quiet in there. That was a kick in the stomach as he had been complaining about not getting any time with just his friend, and here it appeared he'd been avoiding him for no reason. Chris had taken himself out of the picture, "I wish I had known, I might have went back to the dorm at a reasonable hour." He sighed, it had upset him to think that Tim had been alone in the dorm most all week, but there was nothing he could do about it now. He laughed when Tim had mentioned his other friends, of course hearing how it'd sounded more like a chore than anything else, but at the same time he had hoped that Tim had at least had a fun time this past week. Carter had those moments where he'd ached for Tim, but he could usually distract himself enough to stop thinking about it. Funny enough most of the distractions had nothing to do with alcohol either, was the man actually starting to grow up? He smirked at the almost acheivement though he'd keep silent about it, and he'd almost lost track of the conversation before he felt the clap on his shoulder and he glanced at his gorgeous friend again. "Even i'm not pro Carter all of the time," He chuckled, it was nice to have Timmy on his side though.
Carter flashed a goofy grin as he listened to his friend agree about the time frame they were talking about, and nodded as he looked to his feet and back up to Tim, "At least that, and look at you. You're practically a rockstar your hairs so long, did you leave us to become a missionary this past week?" He grinned laughing hysterically for a second, the image of a missionary in his mind had always such long hair and a huge bushy beard. Tim's hair had neither been long or unmanageable, but it did at least help when Carter was messing with him. He had to think of something and Tim had already taken the height thing, and Carter didn't want to tell him he'd gained weight or something so he went the hair route. "Lucky for us the outside world doesn't matter so we don't have to feel bad for any confusion they'd have," He smirked laughing it up for a moment as he gave his friend a playful wink. It'd been true though, when it'd been him and Timmy the rest of the world just did not matter in his opinion.
When Tim made the mention of Brad being lucky Carter just laughed, "Yeah because randomly making coffee at like 10:30 at night right after he'd gotten done cleaning all the machines and everything, oh yeah he's really lucky to have a friend like me." He had done that on several occassions this week just so the coffee could give him a jolt so he could wait until even later to come back to the dorm. "Oh yeah, definitely does something. A few things actually," He laughed as he looked down at the remote in his hand. He wished there had been a button to turn back time or something so he could have spent more time at the dorm, but no the remote had not been that special. The remote was not like the one on Click, now that was a damn remote. He was letting his mind go off on a tangent as he tried desperately to get back to the main focus of tonight, Tim, but of course that was never hard as Tim had always been foremost on his mind.
Carter reluctantly passed the remote to his best friend as he watched the mans facial expressions, always something amusing as Tim had just been so animated. He had scrunched his nose in disapproval when his friend had obviously ignored Carter's statement for a kiss, but when he started to hear the man talk in Jame's Bond manner he couldn't help but laugh and just watch, honestly that's what he'd found himself doing most of the time when it came to his friend. Carter laughed as the hugest grin appeared on his face as he watched his friend lower the lights, and the song voiced from his lips had Carter's grin spreading even further across that gorgeous face of his, but sadly as the room became entirely dark Carter could no longer see his friend. He was all but a shadow as the only light working with him had been the back where Brad had been. "What in the world are you, AH-" He caught him mid-jump as he faltered back a few steps keeping balanced enough that he would not fall entirely, thankfully. Carter, who had been blown away with what just happened, flopped his lips like a dead fish for a second not fully grasping what had happened just there. Tim had never taken initiative like this, Carter literally brought his hand to his heart to make sure it'd still been beating and he hadn't died somewhere and this was heaven or something, and sure enough he could feel that pounding stone in his chest. Carter at least realized what was happening in enough time to at least return something like a kiss before he could feel his friend laughing against his lips. Honestly what was Carter supposed to do after that? "Bond's got nothing on Wright," He burst out laughing before picking his hand up to cup the mans cheek as he stopped long enough to press his lips against the others locking them in another kiss, this time he'd actually been able to move instead of his lips just laying flat and limp. He wasn't nervous anymore, not after that anyway. [/blockquote]

[/b]" Tim sighed, as though it were a fact he could do nothing about. Actually, it was a fact he could do nothing about. Funny how most of his jokes this evening seemed to be secretly true. When Carter placed his hands on Tim's shoulders and looked at him closely, Tim bit his lip, trying to remain serious and not act too delighted at the closeness. " Because I almost lost it with you," he pointed out, lowering his gaze. He'd only done that once or twice, both due to Carter turning suddenly cold while they were fooling around, and both in the past year or so. Every time, he felt worse. He grinned slightly at his friend's nervous laugh, finding it extremely cute. Though, he wondered what the man had been about to say when he stopped himself. He was fairly certain that Carter's actual words hadn't been the intended ones, but he was in no position to push things right now, so he let it slide. With a confused look, he responded. " But you seemed really put out, and I wasn't sure if it was because of what I said, or just the whole thing, or..." he shrugged. Now he sounded like a whiny teenage girl on one of those ridiculous soap operas. When Carter called it water under the bridge, Tim readily accepted that, smiling once more. " Well, I'm glad, then. You know me - I overreact to stuff like that." One thing Tim couldn't stand was being the cause of someone else's misery, especially where the man he loved was concerned. Tim blushed at Carter's laugh, but joined in himself. Out of the three, he'd probably should have been the least worried about his own behaviour. But coming home to an empty dorm every night could do funny things to a person's brain. " Yeah, what the hell? It was all your fault. I take back my apology!" he proclaimed, feeling much better. He did say it in a joking way, of course - even though Carter had been far worse than him, Tim still shouldn't have said that stuff about the man. In all seriousness, he continued. " Yeah, I shoulda picked up on that. It feels like -"" he stopped, wondering if mentioning how things between them had been off lately was a good idea. Then, they might end up going into THAT conversation, and it was not something he was interested in doing at the moment. One day, he would man up enough to do it, but tonight... no. " I don't know. I guess my brain overloaded or something." That was partly true, too. " Hey, my keyboard is pure rock 'n' roll!" he claimed, acting offended. Really, he didn't think he was good enough to play with any sort of band - it had always been more of a hobby, a way of joining Carter in music. He shrugged when the man claimed he would've come back earlier if he'd known about Chris. It was a nice thought, but it was in the past now. There was no point in dwelling on it. " Don't worry, you'll make it up to me," he grinned cheekily, poking fun at the fact that Carter was always finding ways to make things up to him. That was a conversation he could remember by heart. " Yeah, well we can't all be pro all the time, unfortunately," he pointed out. He hadn't exactly been pro Tim lately, either, but he knew that saying it aloud would make no difference. Carter seemed determined not to let Tim put any of the blame on himself. Tim laughed at the thought of becoming a missionary. " Oh, no, the cave man look's actually in at the moment, haven't you heard?" he asked, patting at his luxurious curls. Then, he stroked his chin. " I couldn't bring myself to do the beard, though. Those things are freaky." He was hardly offended by Carter's jab at his hair - he knew the other man loved it. Why else would he always be fluffing it up and finding excuses to touch it? Not that Tim had noticed, or anything.. He nodded in agreement that the outside world didn't matter. Even if the two had been in a crowded room, he would've only had eyes for Carter. Pretty much nothing would drag him away from the man. " Awesome," was his response to the revelation that the wouldn't have to worry about confusing anyone. He snorted as his friend denied that Brad was lucky to have him. Tim could just imagine Brad's face when he finally finished sorting everything out, only to have to make that last cup of coffee for Carter (who had probably been playing with the remote all evening, anyway). Carter's frightened scream cracked Tim up even more. That had definitely been one of his better jokes - if you could call it a joke, really. More of an attack. One of my better attacks, he decided as his lips silenced his friend's voice. He felt Carter flailing about, and could only imagine what the two of them must have looked like. In fact, he was imagining it, which was why he began laughing. He took a moment to try to catch his breath - impossible when his friend was still so close to him. He began laughing again at Carter's next words, feeling strangely more comfortable being open about his attraction to the man when hidden by the darkness, probably because he didn't have to worry about hiding how deliriously happy he was. When the man's lips found his own again, Tim pulled him closer, not willing to allow even the tiniest bit of space to come between them. For the moment, he could easily pretend that they were a proper couple. And it felt so right... if only he could get over his worries about ruining their friendship, he would possibly be able to enter the best relationship imaginable. Especially if every night were like this. It was one of those realization moments - Tim knew now without a doubt that he loved this man.[/size][/ul]

"Hey!" He pointed at the man with a disgruntled look on his face, "Put that tongue back in your mouth mister, do you want your face to get stuck like that?" He raised the level of his voice to sound motherly before he sheepishly smiled wiggling his eyebrows to get his best friend to laugh. He knew that his friends face would not get stuck like that, but still he had heard that saying almost every single time one of his friends had made a face while he was around growing up. Sadly his mother had never told him something like that, she had to actually pay attention for something like that to work, but thoughts of her soon dropped from his mind as he returned the grin at his friend. "I know," He smirked, this being a joke as he had no infact thought of himself as that important. Carter, who was usually all jokes and happiness, did drop the act long enough to show Tim that he could get serious. He had felt bad that the man had thought the entire week had been his fault, "If you would have lost it I would have probably done something to deserve it, isn't that always the case?" He asked striking an eyebrow lift. "Then it'd still be me apologizing, pretty much no matter what way you look at this you're in the free and clear." He hoped that would make Tim feel better since he hated to see him anything other than happy and excited.
As Carter continued to listen to his friend he just laughed cupping his hands against the boys shoulders once more looking deep into his eyes, "You did nothing wrong, you need to believe that alright?" He asked straight up hoping that Tim could see the serious expressions of his, and hopefully he wouldn't find them amusing and just some sort of game or something. Carter, although it was rare, had those times where he could be very serious and this happened to be one of them. Tim should mark it on the calander as he'd known it would not happen again for quite some time, or at least until absolutely necessary. "You overreact to everything, you're my little worry wart," He chuckled ruffling a hand through his friends hair. It was kind of funny that since Carter had gotten off of the couch he'd found himself remaining so close to his friend, and even moreso hilarious that he had to keep touching him in one way or another. It's as though Tim's body had a strong magnetic force surrounding it, and Carter's hands just happened to be made of a metal attracted to the imaginary magnet. "You're here now, we're both happy, isn't that all that really matters?" he asked, eyes sparkling as he looked at Tim in such a longing expression.
Here Carter had been all serious and shit though and then Tim turns around and blames him. Although it had probably been nothing more than a joke of course Carter's mouth dropped open in astonishment. "You can't do that, it's not like I can just press a button and erase the last few minutes of my brain. Sorry but that apology of yours," He smirked as he started to tap one of his temples, "It's stored up good and tight right here," He smirked doing nothing more than joking of course. He heard Tim start to talk once more and listened carefully hoping to find the right words to form an answer, but in the end of his statement it hadn't made much sense. Something had been left out but what could it be? When he said something about his brain overloading Carter did nothing more than nod, "Understandable, happens to me all the time." That had been a lie, but mostly just because when Carter actually started to think about one thing he'd focus and sometime his mind would overreact. That is why he kept most of the stressing and worrying to Tim, out of the two of them Tim could handle it so much better than him.
"Oh yeah, sure it is, of course!" He teased nodding along with every other word as you could hear the sarcasm, Carter had laid it on rather sick so the boy would not miss any of it. "You would have put their guy to shame," He said that being truthful as he thought about what Tim could do with a keyboard. Sure it hadn't been the most manly of instruments, but it had one of the sweetest most beautiful sounds when played right, and of course in Carter's mind Tim could play just beautifully. He was proud when he would get the private concerts from his best friend, and he'd feel even better when he could pull his own instrument out to start playing along. He had sort of wished their instruments were here right now, well other than the guitar some kid had left here during the day that tuned like shit and sounded terrible. No wonder he'd left it behind, he probably hoped someone else would take it and just put it out of it's misery. Carter, off another tangent, came back to reality quick when he'd heard his friend let him know that it'd been only a matter of time before he made it up to him again, "You know there is going to come a time when i've ran out of ideas to impress you," He did not want to think of those days though as it scared him. What if he had done something so bad at one point and could think of nothing to redeem himself? He sighed before returning his gaze up to match his friends, a small smile peaking through as he heard him start to talk once more. "Yeah, unfortunately, I guess." He sighed before that smile peaked even more on his face as it'd been becoming much more defined against his lips.
The smile had just kept growing until he heard Tim talk about the cave man look of a missionary, and then he closed his eyes for a split moment to think about what his friend might look like after a long trip, and the beard had been the first thing that he could think of. "It'd be so bushy and nasty that it'd remind me of that Family Guy episode with the baby birds, and there'd be all this nasty stuff in it and-" He made a face as he took a step back removing himself from the close proximity, "Ew, do not think i'd ever kiss you after that." Okay, perhaps ever had been overdoing it some, but he surely would not let his lips anywhere near the others until the nest had been shaved from his face. All these thoughts had him damn near in hysterics, or at least it had until the final statement from his friend. The laughter immediately stopped as Carter took hold of his side for a second, all that laughing had made his side hurt faintly, but he did have to nod in agreement. "I don't think you'd look as pretty with a beard," He winked making sure that he used the word pretty as it'd been rather feminine just for the hell of it.
When the lights had been shut off Carter had to rely on his other senses, though they had been shit as he could mostly hear his other friend scrambling around in the back moving things around. "Well this isn't fair, I can't even see that beautiful mop you call hair," He teased before making his next statement, but that one had been cut off by Tim's lips crashing against Carter's. The laughter seemed to subdue both of them, it had been a nice kiss while it had lasted but it looked like the giggles would get in the way of it continuing, but the thought of it being over so soon had Carter's laughter stop instantly as he went in for another taste of his friends lips. He had not expected to be pulled in closer, their bodies touching as he could feel his temperature rise, though he could not bring himself to pull away so soon. His hands found their way around his neck as one of his hands traveled up to sift through the gorgeous head of hair his friend had, and his other hand slipped down over his shoulder as Carter held onto Tim's shoulder cupping his against it so their space dwindled entirely, not even an ant could walk between the two of them at this very second.
His body was screaming to proceed, that Brad would probably never notice the two of them out there, and for the moment Carter could do nothing but listen to his own wants, or needs in his case tonight. He had been without the touch of his friend for a week so he needed this right now, and as the lust seemed to come to a head right now there was no chance Carter could break it. Hell, his friend had been the one that had started all of this so Carter was excited beyond belief. He grinned as he turned his body, lips pulling from the others as he had to catch his breath though kept his hands on the mans shirt as they had now been facing the other way. "You always know just the right things to say don't you?" He asked, smirking as it'd obviously been a joke. At this moment words would never be enough, Carter needed Tim's body more than his vocal chords. Tim, whether Carter hated being cliche or not, had been like a drug to him that he could not see himself getting off of anytime soon. "Hold on," He whispered as he brought his lips over to the others ear trailing kisses down to his neck as he leaned back tugging on Tim's shirt as both fell backwards onto the couch, luckily. It would have been rather embarassing had Carter just tossed the both of them to the ground, "This is more like it," He whispered as he could feel his friend ontop of him, Carter moving one leg to rest against the back of the couch as the other was slung off the front to make things more comfortable for the both of them as his lips found Tim's in the dark once more, the soft flesh smoothly brushing against his companions as he'd became rather gentle for a moment, the animosity was ready and willing to be released though.
ooc. DEAR KITTY, This post probably sucks and is all over the place. That is what happens when you have so much muse and are tired as all hell. Hah, hope it made a bunch of sense to you though and promise they'll be better (and easier to understand) tomorrow when i'm not a zombie. -HEATHER [/blockquote]

[/b]" His expression became ashamed as he admitted, " I believed it until I was thirteen." He had actually been a pretty dumb kid when it came to believing his parents, but at least it'd kept him out of trouble. He laughed when Carter wiggled his eyebrows - the man never failed to amuse him. " Wrong!" was his reaction when Carter claimed to know how important he was, " you're supposed to thank me profusely for that awesome compliment." As they continued joking, it seemed that the awkwardness was dissolving away, and even when things became more serious Tim felt almost comfortable. " Don't take all the credit, now, I am capable of messing up once in a while," he claimed. Sometimes, it was like Carter thought too highly of him, but maybe his friend just didn't want to come out and blame him for anything. As his eyes connected with Carter's, he literally felt everything around them fall away. The sincerity displayed there did not go unnoticed, though he still hesitated before nodding. The man was letting him off easy, he was fairly sure, but if Carter was determined to do so then Tim wouldn't stop him. It would be stupid to get in a fight over who was more at fault. " Okay," he sighed, trying to bat Carter's hand away (though he loved it when his friend messed up his hair like that). When the other man called him a worry wart, he shrugged, wearing a helpless expression. " Yeah, I know." He could obsess over the tiniest, most unimportant detail and see it as a huge thing. Especially when it came to his own mistakes. As their eyes met again, Tim saw his own longing reflected there and allowed a slow grin to cross his face. " Yes. Everything is definitely good now." It was the closest he'd ever come to admitting how much he enjoyed Carter's company, and it made him both nervous and delighted at the same time. Tim chuckled at his friend's astonished look. " Muahaha, the tables have turned," he stated evilly, rubbing his hands together Mr. Burns-style. However, when the man pointed out that he couldn't just go and take back an apology like that, he scowled. " When I'm an evil super villain, things will be different," he promised, though he would never actually take back his apology. As needless as it had apparently been, he felt better to have put it out there anyway. He gave Carter a sceptical look when he said his brain overloaded all the time, then reached out and tapped the side of the man's head, jokingly saying, " nah, your brain under-loads." While he often teased Carter about being an idiot, he never really meant it - in his opinion, his friend was just a genius who didn't apply himself to school work. He gave the other a suspicious glare at his sarcastic agreement, but let it slide. " I knew you'd see things my way," he nodded. Of course, his brain chose this moment to remind him that his younger sister had 'decorated' his keyboard with pink barbie stickers when he was fifteen. Two years later, some evidence of that still remained. Apparently they'd been the super-sticky kind, but they definitely took away from the instrument's rock 'n' roll capabilities. He gave his friend a thankful look when Carter complimented his piano abilities, though he figured he was just trying to be nice. Tim didn't even know half the chords by name, and most of the time he just played random things by ear. As Carter mentioned he may run out of impressive ideas one day, Tim shrugged. " Then you can just bribe me. With food and snuggle time and stuff," he named two of his most favourite things. Besides his best friend, of course, though snuggle time kind of included that. Was it just him, or was he being incredibly open about his feelings for the man tonight? Tim burst out laughing when Carter brought up that family guy episode. It was, by far, one of his favourites, and he'd laughed himself to tears every time he saw the birds sitting in Peter's beard. " That would be awesome!" he exclaimed, totally ignoring how disgusted his friend seemed to be by it. Carter didn't have to worry about Tim actually growing one of those monsters, though - they were just nasty. Who knew what sort of stuff managed to get into them? And how would you wash one? " How would you wash one?" he asked aloud. " It would just be strange... rubbing shampoo in your beard..." He laughed at the idea. As Carter moved closer to hysterics, so did Tim, highly amused by the entire conversation. Even when he ran out of breath he couldn't stop - he just made a sort of weird, " ah-hah-ah" noise until he finally forced himself to calm down. The minute his friend said he wouldn't look as pretty with a beard, though, he became deadly serious. " Then I'm not growing one," he replied stubbornly, stroking his smooth chin. Though he knew Carter wouldn't be able to see it, Tim put on a confused expression in response to his words. " Wait, was that a compliment or an insult?" he asked. Of course, he was too impatient to wait for an answer. The word 'beautiful' was enough for him to take it as a compliment no matter how Carter had been intending it. When they parted briefly, he added, " I've never seen a beautiful mop." This brought on another fit of giggles, but fortunately the next kiss sobered him right up and he managed to refrain from bursting into laughter again. He slid his hands around Carter's lower back as Carter's fingers entwined themselves in his hair. Okay, he was kind of getting turned on now... but he didn't want to pull away. It was just too good. As Carter broke the kiss again, Tim found himself gasping for air he hadn't known he'd needed. He tried to keep his breaths quiet, and to think of something to sort out the whole problem of being turned on, but Carter's voice distracted him and he laughed breathlessly. " I'm smooth like that," he answered, once more pretending to be James Bond. He'd only just begun to regain his cool when he heard Carter's whispered words. He bit his lip as the man's kisses sent shivers down his spine, and let out a breath. He had never wanted anything more than he wanted his friend right then, and he could barely move for fear that the impulse might take over. Tim had always been able to keep a level head, but that was getting more difficult by the second. Especially when Carter pulled him onto the couch. He knew that, if things went too far, the other man would freak out. Luckily the chances of this happening were slim, considering Brad was in the other room. In fact, Tim felt more secure than usual given the circumstances - usually he would have been focused on how it would all come to an end soon, but he figured if he played his cards right, they could avoid the whole abrupt halt thing and just sort of slowly go back to snuggling. But first.. he allowed Carter to lead the kiss this time, readjusting his limbs in order to get more comfortable (and get closer to his friend). He was careful to avoid crushing him completely, though. At least in this position he could focus on holding his body up rather than the feeling of their lips crashing together, enough to maintain control of himself at least, and tentatively deepened the kiss, asking politely for just a little bit more... ooc That was a fine post. Juuust fine. Tim is seriously hot for Carter right now though. XD As you may understand after reading all that hehe (I think he's become a bit more sexual since their last make out session). Also, I'm kind of tired too, so sorry for any sloppiness D:[/size][/ul]

Carter burst out laughing when he'd witnessed Timmy's tongue sticking out again, "You're going to do that one too many times and you're going to look like Ed, and then what am I gonna do with you?" He asked shaking his head trying to remain as serious as he could, Ed being the demented hyena on the lion king. The fact that Carter had known that had shown how much of a nerd he'd been, but he was always a sucker for a disney classic any day of the week, and if he could get Tim in his bed for some cuddle time while watching it he was happier than a clam. Sure, those weren't really the best romantic movies to cuddle to, but with those two did it honestly matter? He burst into a fit of giggles when Tim actually admitted to believing in that, "I sorta did too," He forced those words out through laughter knowing that it'd been hilarious. There were many times that he'd practiced faces in the mirror as a kid just so he'd at least look good if his face were to actually get stuck. It was rather amusing. "Isn't bringing you to my secret clubhouse thanks enough?" He asked pouting some, of course he could thank him constantly for all of the compliments he'd give him, Tim was just too good to Carter sometimes. Carter nodded tossing his head from side to side in a contemplative manner, "I guess you're right, nobody can be perfect all of the time right?" He smirked looking at his friend.
Carter did appreciate that tonight the two could be serious, even if it hadn't been that long, but at least it showed that they were capable of having actual decent conversations with one another, and that it wasn't just a laugh fest the entire time the two were together. He grinned even larger when he'd heard his friend simply say okay after Carter had gotten that off his chest, and he just nodded thankful that the man had not argued about anything and just accepted it all. He couldn't keep that seriousness going forever though as he laughed feeling Tim's hand swatting at his own, but that just made him mess his hair up even more fighting the hands obvious push to get his away. "Maybe for your birthday I should get you something to cure that, over worriness or whatever it's called." He chuckled, the thought of his friend needing pills to cure his odd habit had been nothing more than a joke, and although he'd been serious just moments ago he'd hoped his friend had understood it as humor and nothing more. He did nod in approval with a huge grinned slapped across his face at Tim letting him know that everything had been good, "Great, even, or at least it's getting there." He knew that things could not turn great since the two had not seen each other for almost a week, but just hanging out could progress the feel of them together to great once more, right now it was definitely well on it's way.
Carter's eyes were like half dollars looking at the other while his hands rubbing together, "Wait, when you're a super evil villian i'd be your henchman, so i'd be like your Smithers?" He cocked his head to the side some thinking about it, actually that had been a great way of looking at it. How in the world had he never thought of it before, his friend could be the brains of the operation and there Carter would be following him into any situation just because of his undying love and appreciation. The only difference between Smithers and him had been Carter actually got the snuggle time and kisses whereas the other always just longed for them and fantasized. Score one for Carter He teased actually proud that he'd gone further with Tim than Smithers had with Burns. Honestly he could not understand his own thought process, "Well without that barbie collection, I think that'd be pushing things too far." He shook his head, he would never have that barbie collection. He loved how Tim had always given him the benefit of the doubt when it'd came to smarts and brilliance, and sure enough Carter had been rather intelligent when it dealt with things outside of school. That never helped his report cards though, it's not like he'd get high marks for sleeping and eating, now that would be awesome.
Carter just laughed, "Don't I usually?" He asked casually with that slight shrug, at least tonight he was being honest. He then just grinned over at his friend during the thankful look, "At least you know i'm being sincere, i'm pretty serious when it comes to music." Everyone knew that one to be true, Carter could be harsh even to his closest of friends if they were doing something wrong. Luckily he'd managed to get a best friend with a musical ear, so even if he had never had the proper lessons he still could play well by ear. He grinned looking over at them, no matter which way he looked at it he could think of nothing more than these two being a match made in heaven. Everything about them fit perfectly together, it was like they were made for each other and meeting was more than just a coincidence. He had started to feel deel for the moment but as soon as Tim mentioned what would make anything better Carter could not help but grin, "I'll buy a supermarket so i'll always be stocked up with whatever you're craving, and as for cuddles, I think I can manage them too." He had noticed that Tim was being much more open, but he didn't think that'd meant anything too big like he'd liked him or anything. He thought that it'd just meant that he'd missed him, nothing more than friendship though. Carter may be brilliant when it came to the real world, but when it was about his bestie he'd been rather stupid.
Carter knew that Tim would know exactly what he was talking about when he brought up that episode, but all he could think about had been all the feces and food pieces that had been in there. Then again, no matter how disguisting it all sounded, it might be funny to see something like that in the real world away from a cartoon setting. He could see Tim getting attached to the baby birds too, "You would be the one to think it was cool," He rolled his eyes in a playful manner teasing his friend as he shook his head, it may have looked like he disapproved when honestly he'd just found it rather hilarious. He then started to laugh at the thought of shampooing your chin, "Do they make like shampoo specifically for beards? Ew, it'd be so thick and nasty!" He shook his head, clean shaven or a little peach fuzz was the way to go. "Don't forget having to brush it after you wash it or it'll get all tangly and nasty," Okay maybe he was going a bit far and you did not have to brush a beard, but still the thought was hilarious. He was glad the other had found it as hilarious as him as he could hear the stressed laughter from the man beside him, Brad had probably thought they were high or something, but as soon as they both became serious again Carter just nodded, "I think that'd be for the best," he would have to learn to love his friend no matter what he looked like.
"Do I ever insult you?" He grinned though the other could not see him hardly at all, so really all facial expressions were rather pointless. "Obviously you've never looked into the mirror than," He smirked though again it'd been rather pointless. It was mostly just for his own humor than anything else. It didn't matter as he felt the mans lips against his, all other thoughts escaped his mind as he'd been filled with nothing more than complete appreciation for the other person. Honestly he could not understand what was going on right now. This was not like Tim, most of the time Carter was the one that initiated and Tim pretty much just went along with it all, but as he'd jumped at Carter tonight the tables had turned in an all new direction, and Carter was definitely impressed, but sadly he'd been a bit turned on at this point as well. He was finding it hard to control himself, especially because each time their lips pressed together Tim seemed to be pulling him closer, so even though he'd tried he'd fail at controling himself. At least they were in a somewhat public place so he didn't have to worry about things going too far, so he could relax thinking about that at least.
Hearing Tim say that he'd been smooth had Carter laughing again, but as soon as their bodies fell against the couch there was no room left to laugh. He could feel his friend ontop of him positioning himself so he'd been both comfortable and not crushing Carter, the bottom man being well appreciative of that. Carter, not being able to help himself, trailed his hands down to the bottom of the mans shirt so he could slip them up and under to let them rest on his bare sides, that soft skin sending an intense sensation straight from Carter's fingertips all up his arm. He moved his fingertips so that his palms layed flat on his sides pulling his body closer to Carter's, he may have been holding himself above him but Carter could manage if he'd laid ontop of him. "We should probably laugh soon so Brad doesn't get too suspicious," Carter made the comment before bursting out into laughter as he broke the kiss and let his head fall against the couch laughing hysterically, his hands still staying on the mans sides as he did not want to let him go. If things had gotten too quiet though Brad might have came out to investigate, and finding them in any position other than side by side might just look...well it wouldn't be good, that was for sure. He wished that he could ask Tim what had been on his mind, but after the laughter had stopped on his end he leaned up and brushed a kiss against his friends cheek, or moreso the corner of his lip as it'd been dark and he honestly could not see.
ooc. good morning ^.^ thought i'd throw this up before I went out for a little while. And uh, just so you know, Carter's not much colder if that makes sense! Your post was great! [/blockquote]
