- - - - - - - - - - - - Carmen finished crunching on a few kernels of popcorn and leaned her head back onto the messy couch that barely had room for her considering that her clothes took up most of the space. A clothes hanger fell to the floor giving her a scare and she jumped in the chair hearing it hit the marble floor. A hand went to her chest as she felt her heartbeat race; maybe watching a horror movie wasn't the best idea for Carmen. It wasn't really all that late , but she had closed all her curtains and lights. The sun had been going down and she thought this was a good way to kill time. . She had never had scared of them before ; she usually found them funny and entertaining but this one had gotten to her. he had been working so hard all week , she just needed some down time for herself. Or at least thats what she had planned. Carmen's she just needed some down time for herself. Destiny's hand fell to her side on the couch as she placed the bowl of what was popcorn but now a bunch of kernels on the table. Hide and Seek was the movie that she had chosen a few hours ago. It seemed like a good idea then, but now she was drop dead scared. The countryside already gave her the creeps now she was dead scared of it. And having moved into this new house by herself , slowly was starting scare her just a little. She was being silly , though Charlie could have very well been her own father. That would explain some of his behavior , pushing her thoughts to the side she stretched a little looking around her empty house.
Carmen needed something interesting to do tonight , she needed to get out of the house. But when she tried to find things to do by herself it seemed like she was always looking in the wrong place. A horror movie seemed fun and carefree and now it was scaring her to death maybe that's why it was called a horror film. A unsatisfied face fell onto her features as she looked aimlessly into the darkness of the television screen facing her. With a humph she stood up dusting the crumbs off her jeans as she wondered across her room to get her phone that steadily rang. Grabbing she answered a small smile coming to her face. Her friend on the other end was telling her about something about live music and coffee' it sounded like a better idea then staying home. Going to this place seemed like a much better idea then staying home.
Looking in the mirror she curled her hair just a bit , her curls were loose around her shoulders. Putting on just a little make up , she didn't need much. Carmen was satisfied with her red hair and if people didn't like it - well that was their problem not hers. A sleeveless black shirt , black leggings and heels completed her outfit for the night. Putting on just a little make up , she didn't need much. Checking herself in the mirror one more time. . She was still young ,she could go out and have some fun for a little while right? Honestly the girl could be wearing a paper bag and get the same reaction. But being pretty was nothing she really bragged about , she was more humble then anything. . Letting her hair hang down she gathered her things and got into her car , she had told her friend that she would meet her their. She knew where the place was she just never really went and this was her time to go.
It wasn't long before she saw the many parked cars in the parking lot and the sounds of the live music. Getting out her car she locked it before walking to the front door. They weren't checking I.D , it wasn't that type of place and once she walked in she instantly smiled. This had been a great idea , she automatically loved the atmosphere of the place. Looking around for her friend she didn't see her yet , so she ordered herself a carmel coffee' and a cake doughnut. She took a seat in the front , it was open mike and she watched as another person got up to do spoken word. Carmen couldn't believe she hadn't been here before and this completed her day after being a work doing tattoos all day long. She loved doing it but she needed to pace herself ; she didn't even remember taking a break. Taking a sip of her coffee' she crossed one long over the other. She saw the stares she had gotten but she ignored it. They must have thought seh was going to perform to - at least she looked like the artsy type but she hadn't planned on it.
Her friend walked in and too a seat next to her. "You should so go up there!" the first words to leave her friends lips. Carmen laughed and shook her head. "Hey to you too" she laughed. "I'll tink about it " her accent heavy as she tried to brush her friend off. It hadn't been two seconds and her friend was up again this time to go to the bathroom. Carmen laughed and nodded listening to the poet in front of her.

It was about seven o’clock when Zach had dropped Lyric off at Draven’s place to stay for a sleepover that he could pick her up in the morning. Getting his daughter ready however seemed to be a challenge in and of itself with the millions of things she wanted to bring with her and putting together a bag of overnight things. Zach dropped his keys on the counter next to the door of his apartment when he trudged back in after coming back from his friend’s place. It wasn’t that Zach didn’t love his daughter or wasn’t a good father, he would surely beat someone bloody if they dared suggest he wasn’t a good father. Doing the single parent the single parent thing was always hard on him as anyone close to him usually could see from time to time and there were just times every so often where he needed to lead that double life when Lyric’s grandparents were around or something else like that and just be able to forget about spilt hot chocolate on his pair of jeans. Zach loved Lyric with all his heart and soul and everything he did was to provide for her but sometimes he just felt like if he didn’t get out somewhere he would go insane.
Flopping down on to the couch in his living he just sat and rested there for a few moments to collect himself. He wasn’t exactly too sure what he was doing tonight but would probably would just take a stroll downtown and see if there was anything interesting happening that night. Glancing at the clock on the wall across the room Zach sighed jumping up and going to run for the shower.
By the time eight-thirty rolled around Zachary was already out of his apartment and strolling along the sidewalk downtown after parking his car not far. He grinned to himself coming up to the Live Lounge up ahead and decided on ducking inside, seeing that it was open mic he knew right away Artemis probably wouldn’t be around playing a scheduled gig. Slipping his sunglasses off and sliding them to rest around his scarf Zach scanned the crowd for a moment grinning immediately as he found the unmistakable form of Carmen. There was something about that girl ever since he had hired her down at the shop not long ago that he couldn’t put his finger on, it was like that feeling that he knew her before or had hooked up her. Although he had quickly checked sleeping her off the list fairly quickly as was sure if that had been the case he would have been slapped by now. Walking over to briefly talk to one of the people over at the service counter before ducking out into a back room and returning with one of his sister’s guitars he knew she always kept in one of the locked back areas for when she did work around the lounge.
Running up on to the stage after someone had just finished. “Hello ladies and germs, I know a lot of you already know me but I’m Zach. This is a song I put together so time ago called We Believe.” He said as slipped the guitar strap over his neck and playing out an intro riff.
“There’s a woman crying out tonight her world has changed. She asks God why her only son has died and now her daughter cries she can’t sleep at night. Downtown another day for all the suits and ties, another war to fight there’s no regard for life. How do they sleep at night, how can we make things right. Just wanna make this right. We believe, we believe, we believe, we believe, we believe, we believe, in this love….” Zach sang out. He bowed deeply in a bit of a playful fashion when he finished what he was playing and quickly ran off again. After going to return Artemis’ guitar he made his way over towards Carmen grinning. “Hey, didn’t think I’d see you here tonight.” He greeted taking a empty seat down next to her.

- - - - - - - - - - - - She crossed one leg over the other as she sat and waited for her friend to come back. It was funny she had been to the place once or twice ; but she never had been to open mic night. She loved the atmosphere of the place , the people and the little chatter that was going on. And from that point on she realized that she would definitely come more often. Normally she would be sticking out like a sore thumb even though she still looked a little .. different ; she fit in the scene perfectly. She was around poets , musicians and singers. Carmen loved it. Her hazel eyes rested on the performing in front of her as she sipped her drink , her eyes closing as she listened to the words of the poet who was speaking passonately about a love affair that had gone wrong. Carmen smirked , she could feel the passion , the feelings behind that and besides that she could relate to the situation. Couldn't most people at one point in there life.
The lights dimmed as the woman exited the stage and the next performer came up , her eyes twinkled with amusement as Zach stood there. A smile coming across her features as she placed her hands together. Zach was her boss , he had hired her a couple of weeks back and she loved working at the shop. She remembered him being one of the trouble makers at school but they never really talked before she started working for him. Carmen didn't even know if he remembered her from then , it was a bit of a big change. Looks wise any way but the conversation about school never came up with the two. It was kind of funny. Sometimes she caught him at work seemed like he was in his own little zone , it was something about him that she liked. His personality was so intriguing , he was a blast to be around and he was easy to talk to. Besides that he took a chance on her at his tattoo place and she appreciated it. But she knew whatever curiosity she was feeling towards him , she probably should kill it. He was her boss she had to remember that. But as she listened to him sing and it was beautiful. She didn't know he could sing so well and this just made her like him a little more. But she'd keep that to herself for now. He finished and she applauded along with everyone else in the room ; that smile still on her face as he got of the stage.
He took the seat next to her and she turned to face him. My fran dragged meh along but I love it. , she mused as she nodded watching the next performer take the stage before looking back over at him. I didn't expect you to be here either. , she added as she placed her hands on her lap. And I didn't expect ... that. That was beautiful boss! , she smiled even more. Boss was a nickname she had given him at work the first day and ever since then she found herself calling him that every one in a while. I also believe my fran dragged meh here to perform .. I don't tink that will happun tonight though. , her accent rolled off her tongue as she looked up for her friend but didn't see her yet. Carmen rolled her eyes joking before laughing a bit. It wasn't that she was afraid of going , to get on that stage and perform. To be honest she didn't know what it was holding her back actually.
She must have been ordering something herself , considering at the moment there was a long line at the cash register. Pushing her red hair out of her eyes she smirked a bit. How long have you been playing - the guitar? , she asked him lifting a eyebrow. She actually really wanted to know and she wasn't just making small talk. Carmen didn't feel weird around him or any of that ; and they were way past small talk. At least in her mind , he wasn't one of those people that she needed to make small talk with. Carmen did that to people she really didn't have interest in talking to.
And song must be something close to de heart. You can tell by the way you looked when you were singing it. , her eyes traveled up to the stage before returning to him.
