Nathan had decided to get out of his dorm, the day wasn’t bad and the sun was out at least, although it was still quite cold he was glad that the sun was at least shining, it made him hate the place just a little less. He couldn’t really say he loved it, even after being there a few weeks now and he didn’t even care that he didn’t like it. He would just do what he wanted and not care about all that much. He hadn’t seen his cousin yet which he didn’t know if that was good or bad.
He had still not made very many friends around the place. Again, didn’t care though...there wasn’t a lot that he cared about to be honest. Although he was beginning to care a little for his roomie, in a protective kind of way, even though he made fun of her, he saw things in her that he liked, but he still wasn’t going to admit that. Why should he? It wasn’t like he was really mean to her, he just liked to push her buttons every so often. Then he would have those moments where he was nice to her.
He didn’t really know why he was being so nice, he knew with a girl like Abby it wasn’t going to get any action, he wasn’t expecting to either, he could go to some other girl for that who he knew would be easy. It was strange that he was being nice to her knowing nothing would happen. He did think that she was pretty of course but that was all really. He liked the innocent type but with Abby all that was different but he was keeping that a secret, he didn’t want to ruin his rep around the place.
Nathan wondered if there was anyone around he could talk to that would be entertaining. He wasn’t particularly sociable but maybe he could have some fun with them. Although he didn’t usually make an effort to talk to people, if someone spoke to him he would probably talk back. He didn’t mind all that much about making conversation, but he wasn’t usually the person who would enter into it because he preferred to be on his own, occasionally he would do though. Sometimes people just intrigued him and he would go up to him, other times he just did not bother.
He walked down to the fields, hoping that maybe the cheerleaders would be outside or something. Well a guy could dream right? He looked around and sadly the cheerleaders were not around, but that didn’t mean that there wouldn’t be some around, or that they would not come around. He decided to go and sit on the bleachers and get a cigarette out. Nathan only smoked occasionally but he kept a packet on him at all times. He felt like smoking this particular day. As he inhaled he smiled. Well it made everything so much better a lot of the time. He couldn’t really complain.

Settling into a new school was harder than she first thought. In her mind she had imagined she would walk into Jackson High and everyone would just look at how pretty and amazing she was, and obviously all desperately want to be her Friends. Okay she knew it wouldn't be that easy, but a girl can dream right? Judging by how well her day was going to so far it was going to be near impossible to gain any form of popularity. She was the new girl and apparently with that came a deadly disease which made everyone in school have to stand and stare at her every time she walked down the hallway. Perdi never thought she'd say this, but for once she just wanted to blend in. Perdi left the main building of the school and headed outside. It was a was a nice day and the sun was shining, which of course meant the Prada shades had to be pulled out. Slipping them onto her face she started to walk to wards the fields. She needed fresh air and a chance to just walk. Perdi wasn't normally the sort of girl who liked to walk. She was used to driving or being driven to her desired location, but seen as today she had not set destination she felt it apt to just wander.
As she made it onto the fields Perdi realized that wearing platform Kurt Geiger stilettos was probably not the best footwear for this terrain. As she walked the heel of her shoes was digging into the soft spring earth and it made her walk with a slight hobble. Perdita did not like to look stupid, so the best plan of action was to get off the grass and head to the benches as quickly as possible to protect herself from a potential fall, however that was easier said than done. As Perdi attempted to cross the field to the bleachers the further she got into the field the harder it was becoming to walk in her footwear. The ground was so soft her heel was just sliding right into the ground. She could see people starting to turn around and look at her, quite a few of which were snickering or whispering to their friends. Perdi felt her face start to blush with embarrassment. This was all she needed. She started to imagine what everyone would be saying about her, 'The new girl got stuck trying to cross the field in high heels, what an idiot'. It would have been easier for Perdi to just take off her shoes and walk the rest of the journey bare foot but Perdi was quite short, even for a girl, standing at only 5 foot 4, and although she would hate anyone to think she had any insecurities, duh she's practically perfect remember, being small was one of them.
Eventually, after a good 20 minutes, Perdi managed to cross the 200 meters of grass to the bleachers at the other side. Perdi sat down and placed her head in her hands. 'How embarrassing' she thought to herself. 'How the heck am I going to become popular if I'm acting like such a spaz' Perdi pulled out her lip gloss and quickly applied a fresh coat. This day was not going well. She took her phone from her Vivienne Westwood purse and updated her twitter 'Why am I such a spaz?! Kurt Geiger's + A field = Embarrassing'. Perdi noticed a boy also sat at the bleachers, holding a cigarette. He had evidently just seen her massive drama trying to cross the field. She felt she had to explain herself to save what little dignity she had left. 'Listen, the ground was soft and these shoes are really high. I was sinking in....there was nothing I could do!' She could hear how stupid she sounded and couldn't help by start to giggle at herself. 'God I'm such a spaz, I'm Perdi by the way' she smiled, her face still red from embarrassment. Nathan noticed a girl on the field, well not what he was hoping for but still, he smiled to himself as she came over, well she was obviously going to come and talk to him. He had watched her come across the field and laughed to himself. As she came over she began talking. Okay was she just explaining herself as to why she had gone across the field like that? He didn’t really care. Nathan just looked at her and shrugged Don’t wear heels then? he suggested to her. He knew it was probably pointing out the obvious but like he cared.
The girl probably did not want to hear that answer either. She was now laughing at herself and Nathan just kept taking drags of his cigarette, thinking how lame this girl was. He didn’t give her eye contact because he wasn’t really interested in making conversation with her. He hadn’t come here to make friends, he hadn’t even wanted to be at the school in the first place, why people kept thinking that he was going to be some kind of popular kid, he really did not know....he was the opposite and only a few people understood him.
Abby was one of them. Okay so he may not have gotten on with his roommate all that well but he saw that she got the whole loner thing. She didn’t seem to have many friends either and spent a lot of her time studying, which was fine...he did see her as a nerd though but it kept her out of his way, when he did not really feel like talking to her and that was a lot. He couldn’t really help the fact that he didn’t like to be social. Getting a job at the gym probably wasn’t the best move but he needed a job and most of them were social anyway.
Nathan was thinking about Abby too much, he realised...it wasn’t like he had a crush on her or anything...even though she was sweet and innocent....blonde too, all the things he liked in a girl....he couldn’t see her as the type who would go for a guy like him, he just saw her as too much of a goodie goodie. He almost wished that he could take her out somewhere and let her live a little but she would probably say no. He could bet that the girl hadn’t experienced much in her life. He kind of wanted to help her.
He secretly also felt protective of her. If someone was going to bad mouth her then he would definitely have something to say. As if he was going to stand for that! No way....though he would have to deal with it all secretly and make it known to the person he was dealing with that if they tell people about it then they would be dead. He couldn’t have people knowing that he actually cared about someone because Nathan didn’t even care about most of his family, let alone anyone else. The only one in his family he thought was any kind of cool was Derek.
Derek and Nathan had grown up together and they had always gotten along. He still hadn’t really spoken to his cousin and didn’t know if the man would be happy to see him or not, after all they’d had a few differences over the years and no doubt there would be something Derek would not be happy with him about. He did not know what exactly but he kind of just guessed that really. He knew it would be resolved at some point and wasn’t really worried about it at all. He didn’t worry much about anything, what was the point?
The girl said something about being a spazz, which he ignored and then told him her name. nathan he said. Well he thought it pointless him introducing himself as ‘Nathaniel’ when he hated that. No, he was Nathan. I guess Nate is okay though he told her with a small smile. Wow, he hoped that his smile wasn’t going to make her go on and talk to him more, he really couldn’t be bothered right now. He took the last drag of his cigarette and flicked it down through the gap in the bench.
