The appointment had been made as promised and Ava picked Kyle up after school was done for the day. Here she was though finding herself on the way back to his house to pick up some pictures. It seemed that since he told the doctor about the incident he had a few ideas and wanted to try some things but he needed something to use, things that helped with specific memories, things that maybe won’t trigger the memories (or maybe they would) but rather things to aid in bringing them back.
Getting in the front door past Kyle’s mother wasn’t a problem in the least. She was so happy to see Ava that she didn’t question why he wasn’t with her no more or what she needed, she just asked her to visit soon and let her get on her way. Quickly bounding up the stairs she slowly pushed open the door into his room and stepped inside finding herself in a déjà vu type moment. It had been so long since she had been inside any part of his home that the feeling was more then just strange.
The box Kyle had told her about was sitting on the bottom bunk of his bed just where he had promised it would be. It was kinda funny to her that someone his age would still have a bunk bed but she supposed having been gone so long it was never a huge deal, maybe they could get him a new one soon. Her mind wandered but as she began digging through the contents but quickly came right back to focus as she started lifting papers and things from inside til she found the right envelope lying underneath of it all. She sifted through the stack of pictures that was about an inch high looking at all the things it contained, friends, basketball games, so many different aspects of who he used to be, and she hoped maybe someday he would remember them all.
Just as she was about to put the original contents of the box back inside she saw a small black velvet jewelry box peeking out from underneath a manila envelope. Ava told herself to leave it be, it wasn’t her business what it was, but the curious part of her far outweighed the logical sense she had and ignored it. Setting the pictures beside her phone on the bed she took a seat on the bed next to the box and pulled it out slowly opening it to reveal its content. The ring contained inside the box was beautiful. It was some sort of antique style sapphire surrounded and set among tiny diamonds that threw little specks of light off of every wall in the room. (CLICK for the ring)
Overwhelmed Avalon shut the box quickly and put it right back where she found it throwing the rest of the things back on top of it again and closing the lid. For one reason or another she shouldn’t have seen what she just did, and had she not been nosing about she wouldn’t have. It was either for her in which case she was flabbergasted, or it was for someone else and she didn’t know what to believe. The only question running through her mind now was to try and forget about it and move on, or ask Kyle about it. But right now that didn’t matter, as she picked her phone and the pictures back up and said goodbye to his mother heading back for the hospital.
Avalon texted Kyle when she arrived back so that he could come out and retrieve the pictures from her. His appointment was probably half over and the scan had already been ran so she wouldn’t be sitting there long but her mind just continued to wander back to the box still sitting on his bed til Kyle came out and told her the doctor wanted to see her before they left. She gave him a questioning look as he sat down in her chair but she obliged and found her way back to the office and introduced herself before they both sat down to talk a while.
After she was released from the office Avalon went back out to find Kyle and see what the doctor had said to him, when they would get the test results back. She herself had been given a task; a request from the doctor that he hoped might bring some more memories back. She sort of wondered if him and Kyle had talked about it as well but unless he gave some sort of indication they had she would keep it to herself for now. Seeing him sitting there alone she gave him a quick smile and picked up her bag. “You ready to go?”

www.mattdallas.com/Pictures/matt%20brown%20jacket.jpg[/img] It was a pretty chilly day in Jacksonville and Kyle, dressed accordingly, stood on the sidewalk of his two-story home waiting for Ava to pick him up for his appointment with his doctor at the hospital, the appointment his mother knew nothing about and hopefully never would. Someone who knew Kyle wouldn’t be able to see that he was clearly nervous about it; he was a bit paler than usual and kept rubbing his index fingers with his thumbs. He tried his best to hide his nerves from his mother, but being his mother she knew almost immediately and he had to come up with a lie, lying, he hated having to do it, but since it would protect his mother he did and told her he was nervous about his ‘date’ with Ava, which she believed, thankfully. When Kyle got to the hospital he had to see the doctor alone, which meant Ava had to sit in the waiting area and wait for him, his nerves increased as soon as he heard this, he was scared and now she wouldn’t be there, her just being there would be a great comfort to him, but he didn’t say anything, like most men would, he didn’t want her to think he was a sissy, he had already given her enough reason to think so by the way he had acted the past week or so. Kyle and the doctor went to his office and the doctor asked him a few questions, about his past and about his present, Kyle told him what he had remember and explained his theory to him, shockingly the doctor told him that he might be on to something, but that he would have to think about it and do a few tests with the pictures he was talking about, which forced Kyle to ask Ava, who had been waiting all this time, to do him another favor and fetch them for him, which she did. While she was away he followed the doctor into a large room with a large machine; he had no idea what it was or what the doctor planned on doing to him and he started to freak out a little "What the hell is that? Kyle asked with wide eyes, no longer worried about hiding his fear as he studied the contraption, it was a large rectangular, box-like machine, with a large half circle hole in it, he figured that the were going to put him in that hole, since there was a large examination table that could clearly be slid into the tunnel the hole formed. He then looked at the doctor expectantly, who looked at him with eyes full of pity ”Kyle, relax, please sit and I’ll explain it to you.” the doctor said as he tapped on the surface of the examination table. Kyle reluctantly complied and lifted himself onto it, facing the doctor and waited for the explanation he promised him. The doctor explained the procedure of a CT scan to Kyle and that the point was to look at the blood vessels in his brain and check for any abnormalities in his brain and maybe figure out which parts of his brain were responsible for his amnesia and if it there were any surgical options to help him regain his memories. After Kyle agreed they did the scan, but nothing about the results were revealed to him, instead he and the doctor got the photos from Ava before returning to the room with the CT scanner once again, leaving Ava with nothing to do but wait yet again. The doctor then put Kyle back into the scanner, which he hated, he felt trapped and didn’t like feeling that way one bit. He then showed Kyle the pictures, one by one on a screen on the roof of the tunnel, asking him to try and remember where they were taken and what they were doing at the time, taking notes of his brain activity, it all took about ten minutes and afterward he was allowed to go, but the doctor had one last request, to see Ava, Alone. Kyle waited for Ava, feeling lost, he didn’t feel like anything the doctor did helped at all, but that was because the doctor didn’t reveal anything about the results to him. It wasn’t too long before Ava came out again and asked him if he was ready to go, ”You have no idea how ready I am, let’s go…” he said, following her out of the hospital and opening the driver side door for her, closing it after she got in before getting at the passenger side. Like always, she asked him where he wanted to go and he replied with offering to hang out at his house, which she accepted. The drive home was once again quiet, like all the drives they had were, but they reached his house in no time and went up stairs after greeting his parents, his dad had just come home from work and his mother was preparing them dinner while his dad flicked through TV channel, hoping to find something worth watching. ”Welcome to my humble abode.” Kyle said with a smile as he took the box off the bottom bunk of his bed and sat down on it, the space between the top bunk and the bottom bunk was just big enough to prevent him from hitting his head ”There’s not much to do here, but I guess we can think of something, wanna listen to some music.” he asked, gesturing to his computer, "I don’t really remember what’s on there except what I’ve listened to recently, but feel free to take a look.” he added, Kyle was still feeling a little weird about his afternoon at the hospital, he hated how little he was told after spending so much time there, it felt like a waste. As they usually were, the car ride from the hospital back to Kyle’s house was rather quiet besides a few simple words here or there between the two of them. It seemed like since the first day she had seen him again things were awkward, even after him remembering. There was something that was still off. They didn’t stop for very long once they were inside though, just long enough to let his parents know they were there before bounding off to his room while they finished making dinner. It was nice to not be questioned, or treated like a child, scorned for being in your room with a person of the opposite gender. She was sure it helped that they had history and as Kyle had said his mother thought she was a saint. Kyle moved the box from the bed and sat down on it but Ava’s eyes followed the box where she had found the ring that afternoon. Her entire being wanted to just let it go but the other part of her couldn’t, if they were being completely honest then this was one truth she wanted to know. Shaking her head in denial when he asked her if she wanted to turn the music on she took a few steps to where he had set the box aside and pulled the lid off reaching inside of it. She knew exactly where it was without having to feel around for it. Taking it with her she sat down on the bed beside him and held it out to him to take, “What is this?” It was a ring obviously but they both knew that it wasn’t the answer she was looking for. “I am sorry. You sent me home for those pictures earlier and it was in there with them. I shouldn’t have looked but I did and I couldn’t get it out of my mind.” Ava let the box go as he took it and looked around the room not really knowing what to say or the right questions to ask to get the answers she was looking for. Why it was so important in the first place she wasn’t quite sure either. It was one of her stupider traits, her stubbornness, and the way she had to know something immediately when a question plagued her. She had a tendency to think worse of a situation than it actually was as well, this one included. She was impulsive and it tended to make her do ridiculous things sometimes.

When Ava completely ignored his offer and basically everything he had said, he looked at her with a frown, he knew something was up with her and he found out what it was when he watched her box and watched her take a smaller black satin box out of it, he recognized it as the ring his mother gave him at once. ”Oh, I didn’t know that was in there…” Kyle said as he took the box and opened it, immediately regretting that he had because know she would know that he had recollection of the ring, he didn’t want to lie to her, but telling her he was planning on asking him to marry him next year was sure to add to the awkwardness that already existed between them. Kyle knew, even though he remembered how he felt about her back then and still felt about her to that day, that things couldn’t go back to the way they were immediately, she had spent an entire year without him, she had gotten used to the idea, or at least accepted that he wasn’t going to wake up and then he came back, her confusion was inevitable, he knew she had a lot to figure out and he didn’t want her to feel pressured into being with him, just like she didn’t want him to feel obliged to still be with him.
”It belonged to my father’s mother, it’s an heirloom… he said, trying to avoid talking about why he had it, looking at her facial expression Kyle knew she had probably already made the right assumption, he was curious about what her reaction would be if she found out, but he didn’t want her to know that it was possibly still as it was back then, her engagement ring in the future. ”Do you like it? he asked as he turned his gaze toward her, curiosity getting the better of him, he wasn’t sure if it was her taste and it would be good to know for future reference. He hoped she wouldn’t ask anymore questions, but if she did, which he knew she was probably going to, he was going to tell her everything and hope it doesn’t scare her off; he had enough of lying and didn’t want to lie again, especially to her. His heart pounded, he was nervous, nervous that she wouldn’t like it, nervous that she would freak out enough to make her run off and not speak to him again, at least for a while, the last couple of days he learned that when she was shocked or confused, she didn’t really talk much, it seemed like she liked thinking things over by herself first before talking to anyone about her emotions.

Like it, Avalon thought. She loved it. It was perfect in every way but that didn't change the questions in her mind. Getting it from his father made it every bit as valuable as she thought it was if not more then before. Heirloom rings like these were a rarity and worth quite a bit of money in the condition it was in. "It's amazing." she replied shaking her head still in a dazed sort of state over the whole thing. "Why do you have it though?" Things like that , passed down from generation to generation where usually kept until a certain point in time when they felt ready to give them up, it had to be the "right" time. They didn't want them just sitting in a box away somewhere to be forgotten.
Ava couldn't help but wonder if there had been something more to the story then what he had told her, or what she knew. She couldn't imagine at any point there having been anyone else in his life but her, then again, she had also learned there were men that couldn't be trusted no matter how much you did. She looked out the window across the room wondering if she had stepped over some sort of invisible boundary by asking him, one she couldn't take back, unless suddenly they were called to dinner or out of the room, a phone rang, something interrupted. But did she want to take it back? Probably not or she wouldn't have asked in the first place. She looked back at him prepared for the worst, and hoping, not necessarily for the best but for something that wasn't about to make her crumble in guilt.

Kyle smile broadly when she told him she liked the ring, that she thought it was amazing, it made him a little less nervous about what he knew was about to come. When she asked the question he dreaded, he let out a sigh and shifted himself so that he faced her a bit more, balancing the open box just above his right knee ”Ava… he said as he looked into her beautiful brown eyes, his voice low, he felt ashamed about lying to her in the first place, ”I haven’t been one hundred percent honest with you about what I remembered that afternoon at the quarry, I should’ve told you, but a part of me didn’t want to tell you because of how you might react to it.” he started explaining, reaching out and taking her right hand in his, looking at it for a few seconds afterward, amazed at how much smaller they were than his, yet they seemed to fit together perfectly and wondering how that ring would look on her finger.
He looked back up about ten seconds later, after working out the words carefully in his head he added ”I remembered talking to them about you, yes, but I also asked them for the ring, I wanted to ask you to marry me, I technically asked for their blessing and spoke to your parents as well when we were there on vacation.” revealing pretty much everything in one sentence, he didn’t wait for her to react, instead he took the ring out of the box, but instead of putting it on her left ring finger, he put it on the right side, ”I still want you to have it, I know my parents will agree that it’s yours no matter what happens… There’s no-one I’d rather give it to.” he said once it was on properly, knowing that his parents wouldn’t mind because he already told them that if he had to tell her, he was going to give the ring to her as well, to thank her, and they agreed, what it was worth wasn’t much compared to what they had anyway, the Tregers just lived modestly. ”This doesn’t make you promised to me or anything, It’s just to thank you, for being here for me know and for being there before the accident too… You are the best friend a guy could have.”

There was a piece of Avalon that was beyond pissed off that Kyle had left that out of what he told her at the quarry. That was not only a huge memory, but it was huge for them as well. Then there was the other part of her that in this moment knowing how confused she felt couldn’t blame him and was glad he didn’t. Part of her wished she hadn’t even asked and didn’t know now because her mind couldn’t wrap itself around what he was telling her. Then again she hadn’t been exactly telling him the whole truth either. Kyle dropped her hand and opened up the box pulling the ring out and she felt sick. She knew that he wasn’t going to ask her to marry him now, they were both too logical for that, it was far too soon. The look on his face though told her he was doing something, and the ring sliding up her finger confirmed it. Her left hand reached up covering her face as he spoke, it wasn’t a promise ring, it wasn’t anything but a thank you. It was hers now, he and his parents both had agreed upon it, but she didn’t.
“Kyle, I can’t, I am not a good friend.” she said letting her hand fall from her face and her fingers wrap themselves around the ring, sliding it around her finger in circles. “I haven’t been completely honest with you either.” She didn’t want to break down into tears, she never planned things like that but she was so overwhelmed with guilt after what he had told her and the huge gift he had made it that she had to say something. “I,” she closed her eyes and took in a deep breath for a moment before spitting it out, “I kinda started seeing someone again.” And it was out. Just like that, she had told him the part she had been dreading, part of the reason she had been so confused on whether or not his memory coming back would be a good thing. Ava didn’t want to be the first memory he had after waking up of pain, of heartbreak, she didn’t want to be that for him.
Avalon hadn’t been planning on finding someone else, she hadn’t even “found” someone else persay. They had only been seeing each other a short amount of time and it wasn’t even something she would consider that serious yet. Time didn’t matter though, it seemed like perfect timing that he would have come back just as this started happening, when emotions were being put into the equation and not a second before. Her heart ached telling him this, she had been so confused when she saw him in the halls of the school and spending the extra time with him only made it worse. Feelings that had been buried for so long resurfacing among the other ones she had been trying to sort through in the possibilities of a new relationship. “I don’t deserve this,” she reiterated to him as she studied the ring on her finger memorizing it before she would have to make herself give it back again, she knew she couldn’t keep it.

Kyle studies Ava’s facial expression, she didn’t seem as shocked as he imagined she would be, but she did look like she was on the brink of crying. He felt extremely guilty that he had been the reason for her emotional state over the last couple of days, he still loved her so much that he would do anything to take it all away and make her feel better. When she spoke, Kyle could hardly believe what he was hearing, of course she was a good friend, he didn’t see anyone else around trying to help his remember, she was the only person other than his parents that was there for him and how much he appreciated that was indicated by the ring.
It was the words that followed those that pierced into Kyle’s heart like a knife, he felt short of breath and now, just like her, like he was about to cry. He never even asked her whether or not she started dated again, stupid, of course she did, she was the most beautiful girl on earth and the closest to perfect he could imagine, many thoughts went through his mind, jealous thoughts, the idea of anyone else being with her in any way shape or form other than friendship made his blood boil, but he couldn’t and wouldn’t be angry with her about it, because in a way he understood, she couldn’t wait forever and needed to go on with her life. ”Ok… I must admit I don’t love the idea of you with someone else, but I guess that’s normal.” his voice cracking a bit but he soon regained his pose and continued ”But I should’ve known someone would’ve scooped you up the second they had a chance, you’re the closest thing to perfect I can imagine Ava.” he said, the love he still held for her becoming more and more apparent with each word he spoke, ”I don’t hate you for this...” he added after about ten seconds of silence, knowing that she must’ve worried that that would be the case ”I just want you to be happy and if he is what does that, I’ll life with it… But I’ll always be here, as your friend, for when you need me.”
Wow, is what Kyle thought after all he had said, he couldn’t believe he handled that so well, it was true, all of it, but he didn’t mention that he would rip the boy apart if he ever even though about breaking her heart or the fact that he was so jealous of him, whoever he was, that he could scream. He didn’t say any of this, because he didn’t want Ava to feel guilty when in fact, she did nothing wrong at all.
Kyle no longer looked her in the eye though, afraid that she would see the tears in his, instead he lied down on his back, with his legs still off the side of the bed and stared the top bunk, feeling the tears that were there dry up not too soon after, he had to be a man, he had to suck it up.

The guilt Ava felt was only magnified listening to him talk about her the way he did. She was by no means even close to perfect and this situation proved that. Every word that came out of his mouth seemed to only cut her deeper as she tried her hardest to keep her own composure seeing him so obviously upset. She never meant for it to happen like this it just did. Had she picked the way things happened the truck would have never hit them that night, the wreck would have never happened taking him away from her in the first place. But things happened how they did and there was no turning back now, she just had to figure out what she wanted, what they both wanted, and somehow make it work.
Kyle laid himself down on the bed never once turning to look at her or say another word but Ava didn’t have to hear it to know how he was feeling. She sat there on the edge of the bed studying him, his face, his body, every movement, and every silent moment that passed. Impulsively and probably stupidly she couldn’t help but crawl up on the bed and around him til she was in a spot where she could lay her head down on his arm. “Can we honestly just be friends though? I mean , is it even possible?” Her eyes were fixated across the room on something else, something that wasn’t him at least for the moment. It was a real question though, he had been planning on asking him to marry her, they had been together since her freshman year, she had stood by his side for months while he was in acoma waiting for him to wake up. Was it something they could do, be around each other, without feelings, without wanting more than just that? “I’m not ready to give you up, I am just confused I guess.”

As Kyle laid there, silently, he though of what the best thing would be to do now, he now knew she was confused about wanting to be with him, would letting her go be the right thing? Could he even do that? No, he wouldn’t be able to stay away, he needed her in his life, he loved her and there was nothing she could do to ever change that, if having to share her with someone else is what he needed to do, he’d do it, he absolutely hated the idea, but the idea of not having her in his life was something he couldn’t comprehend. He knew their relationship might not be a normal friendship, there would probably if not definitely still be chemistry between them and he would not resist acting on that chemistry, even with someone else in the picture, he would just pretend that the guy didn’t exist, or he would at least try to, hopefully she would make up her mind soon, because just the thought of her hugging, holding hand with or kissing someone else made him want to beat the hell out of whoever it was. All the emotions that came back to him at the quarry that night made the bond he had with her just as strong if not stronger than it was before the accident and even though staying in her life would probably just hurt him, he would rather take the hurt than losing her for good.
When Ava lied down next to him, that tingling butterfly sensation he got the day they reunited returned, stronger that even and all the worries he had seemed to disappear, when her head rested on him arm, he adjusted himself to make her more comfortable, turning onto his side slightly and wrapping the arm on which her head was around her. How right this felt was amazing to him, she was where she belonged, he knew that and hoped that soon she would realize that too. ”I will never see you as a friend Ava, you’re not just my friend, you’re my best friend but you’re and the woman I want to be with nothing will ever change that… But I’ll give you the time you need to figure things out, we can still hang out, but outside of our relationship you may do as you please… I will wait for you, for as long as it takes.” he replied to her first question, as he looked at her with a serious expression, trying to make her see that he was serious.
Her last statement made Kyle smile slightly, knowing that some part of her still wanted to be with him gave him hope that everything would turn out fine ”You deserve time to figure things out, all I ask is that you just don’t talk about him more than is necessary.” he said, the distain he felt for this unknown guy obvious by the way he said him, with resentment and hate almost bursting out of him. Kyle wasn’t someone who hated easily, actually he never in his life went as far as to say he hated someone, but he did now, with every bit of him he hated this guy, which was very irrational since he didn’t know him at all, but still understandable with Kyle being in the situation he was in. Kyle fell quiet again after saying that, not once taking his eyes of Ava. He soon took his free hand and played with her hair, taking strands of it out of her face and taking in every part of her features ”I love you…” he then said, without thinking, he just felt it and it came out without having to over think it, it was the first time that he straight out said that to her since the accident, though it wasn’t the first time that he wanted to.

“I will never see you as a friend Ava,”
Those words brought Ava’s eyes up to Kyle as he told her how he felt about her and the situation she had put them in. He was honest, he was raw, he was open with her, and everything he said made her feel more and more like he was far too good for her. He would wait for her, she wasn’t sure whether to be thrilled or to be upset by this. She didn’t want him to close himself off to other opportunities, other people, whatever or whoever they may be just for her. She wanted him to have other experiences if he wanted them, or at least part of her did. As hypocritical as it was she didn’t know that those things were completely true. How would she feel if he switched the flip, if he was the one leaving her dangling and seeing someone else? It wouldn’t be good, terrible would actually be a better word for it.
Kyle asked her not to speak too much of the guy she was dating too much and she knew that was something she could do for him, it was the least she could do. It would only hurt him more even if they were supposed to be friends. His fingers played through her hair and she closed her eyes just taking in the moment and the feeling, almost forgetting what it had felt like to be this close to him. She could hear him breathing, see the rise and fall of his chest, feel his heartbeat underneath his shirt. It felt wrong because she hadn’t given him an answer; she hadn’t given him her heart back yet, not completely anyways. In every other way though it was right, perfect.
“I love you,”
Ava heard those words and stopped breathing, her heart falling from her chest to her knees. She had craved it for so long, she had feared it since seeing him again, and now hear it was knocking the wind out of her chest like a wrecking ball. There were those words. Finally letting herself take another deep breath in she buried her face in his chest and the tears this time rolled out. All the frustrations she had built up since he had been gone, all the nights she had spent wishing he would come back to her, and now here he was and she didn’t know what to do. Every part of her ached to say those words but she couldn’t make things any worse for him, or herself. Why would she do this to him if she loved him, it was the question she didn’t want him to ask himself at any point. Ever. The questions she was asking herself in her own mind were terrible enough. “I’m sorry.” Her apology muffled by his shirt was barely audible but it was there and in the stillness of the room she knew he could hear her. “Just please don’t ever doubt that I do. Because I don’t think you have any idea how much I really do.”

Ava’s silence was something Kyle had gotten used to over the last week, whenever something got too overwhelming for her, she said nothing, but he knew, inside that pretty little head of her there were a million thoughts racing through her mind, if only he knew what it was, it would make things easier for him, easier not to say something that would make things worse for her, but since he didn’t have any mind reading skills he decided that he was just going to remain honest about his feelings so that would be no mix ups or misunderstandings.
When Ava put buried her face in his chest, he frowned, not sure what was happening until he the warmness of her tears through his white cotton T-shirt, when she spoke, the tone of her voice broke his heart, he hated seeing her like this, so confused, so sad, all he wanted was for her to feel better, but he had no idea how to go about achieving that. ”I don’t doubt that for a seconds, you wouldn’t be here if you didn’t.” he said as he tried comforting her by gently rubbing her back.
He allowed her to let everything out in silence, only hearing a few almost inaudible sobs every now at then, after a while, he couldn’t take it anymore though and gently lifted her face of his chest with his free hand, looking into her eyes he raised his eyebrows and smiled a little, slowly let go of he chin and then he gently wiped the tears off her cheeks ”You know what’s even better that crying? he asked, ”Ice cream!” he answered with wide eyes, being very animated, ”You want me to get you some?”
Kyle leather jacket was starting to get uncomfortable to lie down in, so getting ice cream would be a good reason to get up and he would be then able to take it off, he didn’t want to say anything about being uncomfortable, afraid that she might think she had something to do with it, which she didn’t, not in any way. It was a little cold, most people would think it was silly to eat ice cream on a day such as this, but Kyle thought it was never to cold for ice cream and his mother knew that, which is why she always kept the fridge well stocked.

Kyle lifted her chin to bring her eyes to him and wiped away the tears from her face before doing what he had always been best at, trying to lighten the mood. She didn’t want ice cream though honestly, and she wasn’t really sure she was up for dinner at the moment either. As much as Avalon hated to do it she really felt like they needed more thinking time, she was so overwhelmed with her emotions and trying to sift through them, being near him just made her even more so. “Thanks. But I don’t think I want any.” She cracked a small smile for him hoping to give him the reassurance he needed that she would be alright before reaching her own hands up to wipe away the tears he had missed.
Avalon sat herself up on the bed and swung her legs around til they were hanging off feet on the ground again. Pulling her hair back into a pony tail she had wrapped around her wrist she looked back at him still lying beside her. Leaving him there like that, it didn’t feel right, but at least at the moment staying didn’t either. Running her hands over her face she used her hands to push up off the bed and stand up. “I think I should go.” She said turning around to face him again. There were things she needed to do anyways before school in the morning, and now only a million more things to think about. “You can call or text though, whenever you want,or if you need anything.” Her keys dangled from her fingers as she examined the ring on her finger again, he had refused to take it back no matter how she told him she didn’t deserve it or he didn’t have to give it to her.
Reaching out Avalon pulled him up off the bed til Kyle was standing in front of her once again, never dropping his hand from her own. Her other hand reached up to his face as she stared at him intently for a moment memorizing ever part of him like she was about to lose him again. Lifting herself onto her toes she pulled him in closer until her lips finally met his own and pressed against him with an urgency that she couldn’t have explained if she wanted to. Her feet fell back to the floor as she lingered for a moment before pulling back from him and letting go of his hand. “I will talk to you later?”

Kyle watched as Ava sat back up, she didn’t want ice cream, neither did he really, he just wanted to change the subject to something less morbid, he didn’t like having this kind of atmosphere between them. He watched every move she made, surprised that his mouth didn’t fall open, even after all the crying, she still looked like an angel, perfect to him in every possible way. ”Oh, okay…” was all he had to say when she told him she had to leave, he was disappointed because he had hoped they could’ve spent a little time together, but figured she needed some time alone to figure thing out too, so he got over it pretty quickly. ”I’ll keep in touch, promise.” he said when she told him to text her if he needed anything, her with him was what he needed, not having to picture her with someone else was what he needed, but since he couldn’t get what he needed he would have to settle with what he had. No matter how much it hurt, he would try not to show it, he didn’t want her to choose him out of pity, he wanted her to be happy and if he wasn’t the guy to do that he would accepted it, even though he wouldn’t want to, even though it wouldn’t be easy.
He gave her a small smile when she stood up, trying to reassure her that he was okay and that everything would be okay and was surprised when she pulled him up from the bed, he didn’t resist though and with a little bit of him cooperation she managed to get him on his feet. He squeezed her hand lightly when she didn’t let go and got Goosebumps when her free hand rested on his cheek. He remained quiet, just standing there, letting her do what she wanted with him; he couldn’t resist her anyway and didn’t want to either. When she kissed him again for the first time since the quarry, he felt the same light headed, dizzy feeling he did that night, but this time, no floods of memories, just a feeling of hope that she would be returning to him again, after she got whatever she needed to out of her system. He kissed her back with the equal amount of urgency, thinking that although he had a chance of getting her back, this still might be the last kiss they would ever share and he wanted to remember it.
When she let go of his hand and pulled back Kyle had to fight the urge he felt to grab her and kiss her again, his hormones were raging but he managed to keep himself composed. ”You can bet on that mon cheri.” he said with a bright smile, it was amazing how much that one kiss managed to lift his spirit. Once he said that, Ava headed towards his door and opened it, heading down stairs, he followed her and watched as she said good bye to his parents, opening the front door for her, she walked out seconds later and he mumbled a quick bye, before closing the door behind her, he couldn’t watch her walk off to her car, he hated to see her go.
