Caleigh chatted happily with the couple girls at the bar, her attention briefly being torn away when Neil was finally in blindfolded and the immediate ‘surprise’ was yelled by most in the room. The blonde became immediately startled when she felt someone sly grab her from behind and pull her a little towards them. She quickly whipped her head around but her features softened seeing Derek there, even he wasn’t exactly paying complete attention to her at the moment. She took one last sip from her appletini before then motioning to the bartender to get her a refill. “Yes I believe that would be the one you’re looking for.” Caleigh replied softly after Derek had said the well-known French quote glancing at him just a bit. Turning back she just smiled a bit as Gary walked over towards them and decided to pull Charlie off by herself a little bit. Glancing out of the corner of her eye towards the girl Caleigh could hear Derek speaking with she couldn’t help her curiosity piqued just a little as she too wondered how he knew that dark haired girl, Caleigh thought she had seen most of the girls Derek had fooled around him and this definitely was not one of them. Caleigh couldn’t help the smile crossing over her bright red lips at the touch of Derek’s hand across her skin, and here it was starting to happen all over again. The part where Caleigh would instantly start to melt for him with just the very simplest of things that he could do. It felt so nice the methodical slow rhythm he had to slightly massaging her muscles and couldn’t stop herself in that moment from leaning a little into him as she slowly sipped from her drink.
There was a part was really dying to get him alone, but at the same time standing her and having him like this, even he didn’t have complete attention on her she loved all the same. Just to be somewhere publicly where anyone might see him gently with his hands on her. She caved under that attention every time, that was definitely one the reasons right there why she always kept coming back to him when even though the small rational part of her knew she shouldn’t be. “I was thinking of going to play a hand of poker, would you like to join me Derek?” she asked softly turning her head slightly to look over his handsome features from eyes that held mystery in her opinion down to lips that at times she couldn’t get enough of kissing but could always make her melt his hand like chocolate whenever she caught any sort of smirk from him more times than not. She glanced up for a second and noticed for the first time that Mia and her other friend Pagan had arrived, she would definitely have to go see them but that could always wait just a little couldn't it, besides she looked busy with Ash and the other male she vaguely recognized as Jacksen. wordcount --- 523 outfit --- here! music --- silent notes --- cal's so sad, she falling again tag --- derek, and anyone else

Nodding, Charlie agreed with Jay when he said apples and oranges. Clearly they all knew how to throw around their parents money to come up with their own versions of one hell of a party. Shrugging, Charlie tucked her hair behind her ear before clearing her throat. ”Shocked? I wasn’t born with neon hair Jay.” Charlie laughed, she couldn’t help but tease him. Charlie couldn’t help but smile when she watched Gary roll his eyes, typical guy reaction when he heard something about fashion. Shouldn’t he have been used to it by now, especially living with two girls and growing up with Mia Ellwood? If there was one thing Charlie had known about Mia was that she was all about her fashion. Rolling her own blue eyes playfully as Gary told them not to miss him too much, Charlie waved goodbye to him, not bothering to say a word. Her gaze moved in the direction of the voice that seemed to be addressing her. ”Oh, thank you so much. I’m totally not used to wearing dresses like this, well not anymore. I guess I used to wear them all the time when I was younger and we had to go to parties. My family, you know. But now, I totally only wear short dresses…I always wear dresses. You look stunning as well. Where did you get that dress, it’s amazing?” Charlie could feel her cheeks flush slightly. The last thing she wanted to do was scare the poor girl, but Charlie was far too nervous and out of her element to remain calm. ”Sorry, I talk a little fast when I’m excited…or nervous.” She took a deep breath before smiling at the girl. ”I’m Charlie.” Charlie had considered introducing herself as Charlotte, but that just wasn’t who she was anymore so it was pointless.
Trying to smile as Jay excused himself, Charlie was beginning to wonder exactly why she had come to the party now that she was alone at the bar with people she barely knew. It wasn’t like she was a shy girl, actually she wasn’t shy at all and loved meeting new people, but Charlie couldn’t help but feel like she would be judged left and right by people who had no idea that technically she belonged at a party thrown by Jay and Gary just as much, if not more, than they did. Turning herself around, Charlie waved the bartender over and ordered herself a diet coke, making sure to thank him and give him a tip. Taking a sip of her soda, Charlie watched as Derek approached the bar again. She couldn’t help but giggle to herself slightly certain that he had either returned for another drink or some random girl, perhaps both. Shaking her head, Charlie laughed to herself, both of her assumptions about Derek had been right on the money. Certain that a total look of confusion had fallen on her face as she watched Derek basically grab the girl she had been unfamiliar with. Why on earth would she allow him to just touch her like that and not say a word or even stop him? Hearing the smugness in Derek’s voice, Charlie just smiled at him instead of glaring. ”Vous m'avez fait une faveur Derek. Séance avec vous dans votre l'une des parties l'homme n'est pas mon idée de plaisir.” Charlie raised her glass, taking a sip. She wasn’t sure if Derek would have any idea what she said, but something told her that he didn’t speak French. Sighing, Charlie realized that she truly had no business being at the party, she knew who her friends were and none of them were going to be at this party.
Finishing the last of her soda, Charlie grabbed her handbag that was on the bar and turned to walk towards the door. Without really looking where she was going, Charlie managed to walk directly into someone who was clearly in just a rush as she was. ”Mylanta. I’m sorry.” Charlie lifted her head upward, looking to see exactly who she had walked into. Her eyes locked on familiar blue eyes, Gary, of course it was Gary. Of all of the people inside the enormous ballroom, Charlie managed to walk directly into Gary Cromwell. It was like no matter what the situation was he somehow ended up in her personal space. As he bent down closer to her, Charlie could feel her torso leaning back instinctively, something she was used to doing when she talked to Gary. ”It was an accident. I was just leaving.” Keeping her eyes on him as he walked around her, Charlie had to turn her entire body around in order to see him, watching him put his empty glasses on the bar top. She shrugged slightly at the reality that Derek hadn’t been a good escort, she hadn’t actually expected him to be. ”It’s not a big deal.” Charlie tilted her head slightly in confusion. ”You’re stealing me? Well aren’t you sweet Garritt Cromwell.” If she was going to stick it out and stay at the party, it was really sweet of Gary to make her feel comfortable even if it was only for a few minutes. Charlie didn’t expect him to entertain her for the entire night, but even the effort made a world of difference to her.

Inspecting the room she couldn't see anyone worth getting up from her spot for, but as someone reached right across her she did over a few inches so she could take back the space that was just stolen from her. She didn't think nothing of it at first, but as she heard him speak and turned around almost to get poked on the nose she just sighed as she picked up her free hand and put it on his pulling it towards the bar, but more importantly away from her face. "I'm not one that's easily forgotten, so if you have to ask i'm guessing you haven't had the pleasure of meeting me before," she was cocky, that much was sure, but she'd had damn good reason to be. No matter what, either a good or bad one, people usually had an impression of her after a meeting, and it stuck since she hadn't really been the type to just conform and blend.
She watched as he treated the blonde like cattle roping it in to him, but the blonde did not seem to matter so Merrick didn't either. She actually seemed to be into it some as Mere could see her body actually leaning towards this man to get closer. She took another sip of her drink as she glanced around the room once more taking in everything for her fourth or fifth time. She could see a few people getting dealt hands at the poker table, but there was not enough to go over and join them yet, so she instead turned her attention back to the show right beside her. He used the name Charlotte, Mere took that to be the blonde, but soon the more vibrantly colored chick was talking to him. She heard the french spewing from that womans mouth and just laughed as she looked to Derek to see if he understood her, or if his statement had just been a common knowledge quote. Hell, that saying had been so common that it was actually her middle name, her mother was such a simpleton.
"When in doubt take the dramatic way out," she smirked seeing that one coming before Charlie even started to talk, and soon she saw the woman bumping into and talking to some blonde. "How easily they forget who they came with," high school was such a funny thing, and the more she saw it first hand she was glad she'd been done and over with it. Sometimes the people themselves made more drama than was actually there. She hadn't expected the finger to return as she pulled her lips up into a smirk and took a long drink of what was left in her glass as she raised a finger to get the bartenders attention for a refill. "Remember, just stain, nothing more." she returned her attention to the man who seriously needed to learn a lesson in personal space, but she stayed silent for a moment until she got her drink again thanking the bartender as she picked it up. "Word to the wise, put that thing in my face one more time and you'll be pulling back a stump." The sad thing is she didn't even sound like she was joking. It was her Vegas attitude though, but she knew she would have to tone that down living in a place like this, such futile behavior it seemed.
"You know how to play poker blondie?" She smirked, "I would have pegged you more as go fish or something," again that Vegas attitude brightly shined as she took a drink to clamp her mouth shut. "What do I know though, i'm just the entertainment," she knew a lot about poker and sizing up the players, but she was not going to bother letting them know any of that. That was need to know information, and put simply neither of them needed to know. "As for knowing who you are i'm clueless, you don't really stand out to me, so i'm no help." She shrugged simply, he was cute but nowhere near her type to remember.

Andre sat on his still unmade bed, the rumpled sheets all piled up near the foot of the bed where he sat. His hands rose up from his lap and he pressed the palms of his hands against this face, rubbing them against his features; he’d been dressed and ready for the party but at the same time he felt this gut feeling he wasn’t ready for something that would happen that night. He was tempted to just let his body fall back on top of his bed and just not go, but he had convinced Britney to go. His hands kept sliding up his face one final time and pushed back the hair from his face, his blue-green eyes darting around his room to see if he’d missed anything; he wasn’t much for cleaning and left things scattered around so it wasn’t easy to tell what was what in the mess. His eyes stopped on a black tie that was peeking out from under a pile of shirts, his eyes narrowed as one of his hands found the open collar of his shirt; trying to get the perfect knot with that tie did not seem like time well spent, especially when he was sure he was supposed to be heading over to pick up Brit. Craning his head around to glance over his shoulder his eyes landed on the red numbers, his eyes widened at how he should rushing out of the door and not still sitting her mulling over if he should or shouldn’t go.
He was up and out of the frat house door, raising his hand in the form of a wave at the other guys in the frat house who tried to get his attention. He climbed up into his elevated red Chevy Silverado truck, the engine barely even roaring to life before he was already heading off to Britney’s place. The whole ride over he kept thinking about how she’d told him she did drugs, he still wasn’t’ sure about his feelings about that particular subject. He wasn’t a fan of anyone who did them but this was his best friend and he wanted to try to help her get over this problem she had with them, as he ran his fingers through his hair he couldn’t help but recall all the signs that bad been right in front of his face and wondered how he’d been so blind before. Pulling up in front of the apartment he through his truck in park before turning off the engine and taking the keys out of the ignition, a soft sigh escaped his lips as rubbed his eyes with the back of his hands trying to chase away the tears he felt trying to make their way to the surface. Glancing into the rearview mirror he looked over the glassy eyes that were staring back at him, he didn’t see any traces of the liquid that was trying to make itself known before he didn’t see much of anything in them. Andre climbed out of his truck and shut his door, sliding the jingling set of keys into his pants pocket. Closing the space between him and door with his long strides he pressed the tip of his index finger against the faintly lit doorbell, picking up on the sound of the bell ringing on the other side of the door. As the door started to open he forced the corners of his mouth to turn up, and seeing the blonde on the other side of the door his lips spread out even wider before breaking apart and allowing a broad grin to brighten up his face. ”Thank you. You look stunning yourself.” Looking over her head he kept smiling at her sister, his hand rose up from his sides as he waved at them.
The whole way to the hotel Andre didn’t say much, he really wasn’t sure where to even start with her. Every time his mouth opened even the slightest bit he would bite down gently on his lower lip to stop anything from escaping out of his mouth, he wasn’t by any means pleased with his behavior but every time he looked over at his best friend he wanted to be upset with her but found he couldn’t. It was tearing him up inside not being sure what to do in this type of situation. He was thankful when they pulled up to the hotel, once again climbing out of his truck but this time he let the valet get in instead of shutting the door. Walking up next to Britney he slid his hand into hers, looking down at her the corner of his mouth rose up slightly. ”Let’s try to have fun tonight. And I’m sorry for how awkward I was during the drive over.” He took a hesitant step forward waiting to see if she’d actually walk with him, proceeding on he tried to stay the slightest bit ahead of her. Walking through the revolving door with her his body shook slightly as his boisterous laughter bellowed out of his body; it wasn’t so easy to get out of the door as he’d pulled her into it with him and they were smashed together, he had to go around one more time before stepping out into the lobby. Still shaking and laughing at what had just happened, ”Well that was definitely a fun way to start the evening.” He spoke as his laughter died out and once he was able to he reached out for her hand again, the two of them making their way to the ballroom. Andre’s eyes swept over the scene, nudging Britney with his elbow his head rose and fell a few times. ”This is nice.” It seemed like they just got there and he craned his neck around as he saw other people drawing closer, he spotted the birthday boy and was thankful that they weren’t late like he’d thought they might be. ”HAPPY BIRTHDAY! He joined in with the other guests, the corner of his mouth spread out as a broad smile took over his face as he watched everyone gather around the birthday boy and greet him.

Casino Royale. It sounded like it could potentially be a good time, maybe. Grayson wasn’t all that fond of large amounts of people, especially other students from Jackson, but when Derek had mentioned it nonchalantly the idea had caught his attention. The theme alone was worth checking things out, but the gambling and alcohol were more along the lines of what had drawn him in. Besides, if Derek was going there had to be something that Grayson was missing. If nothing else, he was certain that he would be able to find some sort of amusement in sitting back and just watching the dramatized interactions between the other students, pretending to like this one, talking about that one behind their backs. If only people were as perceptive as he was, but they all managed to walk around with their heads in proverbial clouds, pretending that the world was nothing but a bed of roses. A snicker escaped his lips at the thought of life being roses. Life was so far from rainbows and kittens, and if anyone had seen a fraction of what Grayson had witnessed, that small slap of reality would be enough to send them over the edge of sanity, something Grayson seemed to teeter along the edge of.
Pulling up to the Hilton, Grayson sat in his car for a moment, glaring as he looked at the attendant outside his window. The pimply faced kid didn’t look old enough to drive and dumb enough not to know the difference between a Chevy and a Ford. Grayson’s anxiety level began to rise at the thought of his idiot touching his car, his hands gripping the steering wheel in protest. It was one thing to allow an attendant to park your car, it was another thing to let some minimum waged high school kid to touch your classic car that was worth more than his meaningless little life. Grayson considered throwing his car back into drive and taking off. He didn’t need to go to the party, it wasn’t that important. Derek wouldn’t have cared if he didn’t show up, but the fact that he had told Mikey to meet him there, that seemed to be the lone reason that Grayson could feel his fingers slowly letting go of the leather-wrapped steering wheel. He knew that Derek could protect Mikey if anything happened, but if the shit hit the fan and Derek had to protect Mikey, who would have Derek’s back? Somehow it always managed to come down to taking care of Mikey. Shaking his head, Grayson pushed his door open directly into the attendant waiting for him to exit the car. A smirk fell on his lips, his blue eyes narrowed slightly as he stood upright now face to face with the young kid. He wasn’t much younger than Grayson, or maybe he was older, either way he didn’t care. A sense of satisfaction washed over him, clearly Grayson was making the kid completely uncomfortable without so much as uttering one word. It amused him to be able to control someone’s emotions with such ease. ”I will put in intensive care if there is one tiny mark on her. Understood?” Without another word, Grayson stepped to the side, walking towards the hotel doors. He was fairly certain that the kid had gotten his point, and if he didn’t, well Grayson would make good on his threat.
As he entered into the lobby of the hotel, his blue eyes scanned the people walking around. Even something as basic as a hotel lobby could amuse him, watching this women yelling at her husband, that person demanding something from the poor slop behind the desk, or the kids running around like wild banshee’s hopped up on sugar like it was a form of crack. Grayson never quite understood the whole running around thing, but in order to understand it one probably would have had to have been afforded such a luxury. From across the room he could see a woman probably ten years his senior eyeing him like he was her next meal of the day. Pathetic. If Grayson had been into that sort of thing he would have had a total field day with her, manipulating her for his every whim and need, tossing her aside like an old shoe when he was done with her. It was almost too bad that it wasn’t his thing. Without falter, Grayson walked right past the woman, no second glance, no form of acknowledgment and headed straight towards the ballroom. From the corner of his eye he could see her shock and disappointment, causing him to smirk on the inside, his face still unreadable.
Walking into the ballroom, Grayson was somewhat impressed that they managed to turn it into a casino, holding true to the theme of the party. Everyone walking around was dressed like something straight out of a James Bond movie. Grayson could appreciate the original movie or even the 1953 novel, but the remake just couldn’t live up to the bar that had been set by David Niven. Most people wouldn’t know a good film if it slapped them clear across the face, so Grayson could only assume that the theme of the party was based solely on the remake and most people’s love for Daniel Craig. As he stepped farther into the makeshift casino, Grayson’s blue eyes caught sight of Derek at the bar, his hands naturally all over Caleigh, however his attention was clearly on another female. Typical. Amusing however. Caleigh was a glutton for punishment and always seemed to be more than eager to let Derek walk all over her and toss her aside for the next best thing of the moment. Slowly approaching the bar, Grayson slid into the empty spot beside Caleigh, motioning for the bartender. ”Johnny Walker blue, on the rocks.” Nodding as he was given his drink, Grayson lifted the glass to his lips, enjoying the burn of the alcohol as it slid down his throat. Turning around, his back leaning up against the bar top, Grayson allowed his blue eyes to scan the room for a moment before addressing the others. ”Derek.” Raising his glass out of respect, Grayson took another sip, turning his head slightly in the other males direction for a second before looking back out at the other people. ”Caleigh. You look….well put together.” His gaze looked the female up and down for a moment, no change in his expression. She was a pretty girl, but she was damaged goods, a rag doll for Derek to play with which made her simply pathetic.

With his head downcast and his eyes fixed on his slender fingers tying the laces of his shoes, Ash was watching as he formed what looked two bunny ears and proceeded to go through the grade school way of tying a shoe. Though he no longer needed the aid of the rhyme that went along with it he couldn’t help but shake slightly as a muffled chuckle escaped his lips while the little tune started to play in his head. Pulling the laces tightly and securely his head rose the slightest bit, and a glint of light in his peripheral vision caught his attention. His head turned in the direction; the corners of his mouth stretching out when his pale blue eyes landed on the source. Watching Mia adding the finishing touches he bit down gently on his lower lip, she sent his heart racing without even trying and he had to remind himself to exhale the breath that he was still holding on to. He released it in a content sigh, tearing his eyes away from her as her angelic voice reached his ears. He rubbed his hands up and down his legs before his shoulders rose up near his shoulders, ”You might have mentioned it on occasion love.” Removing his hands from his legs he placed his palms on top of the bed that was near his legs and pushed himself up to his full height, taking a few short strides to reach the door. Leaning back against the door frame he started to roll up the sleeves of his pink shirt, looking up in time to kiss her back. ”As ready as I’ll ever be and you’re more than welcome. I’d probably do anything for you if you asked.” He fell in step behind Mia, now working on the other sleeve of his shirt.
When he’d secured it enough around the slender limb he called an arm his pale blue eyes swept over the scene, his eyes darting between the two blond girls. The hint of a smile still lingering on his face was becoming once again prominent as the corners of his mouth stretched out for his ears. The broad smile lighting up his face as he watched the exchange between the two girls in front of him, though he didn’t know Pagen he could tell from the way Mia interacted with that she cared for the younger female; he wasn’t sure how long or how well they both knew each other but it seemed like they deeply cared for each other. His hand rose up from his side and found the back of his head, his fingers getting tangled up in his dark brown locks as he mussed around with the slight curl that they held. Though there wasn’t very much hair to play with at the back of his hair, his fingers were quick to run through his hair to the top of his head and play with the longer strands. The movement in the corner of his eye has him turning his head to see the well-dressed brunette haired male that he knew was escorting Pagen to this party, Ash’s eyes widened as took in the sight. ”Mia…” his head swiveled in the direction of the blonde he was addressing and his lower lip jutted up as he waited for her to look at him, still twisting his fingers in his hair. When he had her attention he waited for her to come closer, trying to stop from smiling when her hand slid into his. ”You could’ve told me to dress that way love. I might not look as good as your friend there but I could rock it.”
The whole ride down to the lobby Ash kept his eyes locked on Mia, studying her expression he bit down on his lower lip gently trying to figure out what was going on her head. He had a hunch it had to do with her brother and Gary; his brows knit together, snapping out of it like she was when with that ding of the elevator. Following in step behind her, he looked around wide eyed at the party when they entered the ballroom. He felt her slender fingers tightening around his hand and his attention was drawn to their connected hands before darting up to her face, he leaned his face to hers and brushed his lips against her cheek. They trailed their way up near her ear, ”Remember I’m not going anywhere love.” He pressed his lips against her temple as his head started to turn back around, his eyes scanning the faces of the people he vaguely recognized from seeing them in passing in the halls.

She couldn't believe she had agreed to this. She could already feel the nervous twisting of her stomach that told her this was a bad idea, but she'd do it for Mia because she owed her sister. Her sister. The word was foreign to her - she had family now, she wasn't a slave carrying her masters name or a ward of the state carrying a random name. She was an Ellwood - how odd it was to think of herself that way. She tucked a stray piece of blond hair behind her ear as she glanced in the mirror - Mia had let her have a room to herself to get ready, which she was thankful for. She didn't know Jacksen that well - and there was no way she trusted him. She barely trusted Jay, and he was her brother now - she didn't trust any males. They were all after one thing only. She sighed and touched the serpent necklace around her neck - no, not all males were bad. She bowed her head and said a silent prayer for her friend, the one who had given her the necklace - the one who had saved her. She hoped he was safe, wherever he was. She hadn't seen Christian since
She shook away the morbid thoughts of the past, touching the necklace once more for good luck before walking out of the room, her blue eyes instantly turning warily towards the boy who would be escorting her. She stood across the room from him, leaning against the wall cautiously, and kept her eyes fearfully on him - she didn't like being alone with him, not even when Mia was only in the next room. Thankfully though, her sister was soon entering the room with Ash next to her, and she eyed the tall boy nervously. It couldn't be safe for her sister to be alone with him, it wasn't ever safe to be alone with a male, but she'd keep her concerns to herself. She could talk to her sister about it later - it would be rather rude of her to accuse Ash of being untrustworthy when he was right then, and even she wasn't that rude.
"Sweetie you look amazingly beautiful." She flushed slightly, one corner of her mouth curling up in a small smile. "No I don't, but thank you for saying so." She said simply, in her usual blunt manner. She didn't like lying and she didn't like pulling punches - she was free now, she didn't need to censor her words for anyone, though she tended to be more subdued around guys still because they still made her uneasy. She fiddled with the fringed ends of her shawl before glancing up with a small smile, her blue eyes meeting her sisters. "You, however, look like the princess you are." While she had chosen dark colors because they fit her better, Mia looked amazing in pale pink and she truly meant the compliment. ”I promise it’s not as bad as it seems. We can at least gamble mother and fathers money away which will be fun.” She eyed her sister a little strangely - yeah, gambling and her didn’t mix. She didn’t like taking risks all that much…then again, she was pretty good at poker. She’d been able to beat Christian at least, and he’d been the one to teach her.
"So, are we ready?" She sighed and nodded, trying not to look as miserable as she felt as she followed after her sister. She didn't look at Jacks or acknowledge him - she knew it was rude, but perhaps if she just acted like he wasn't there, she'd be allowed to just not interact with him and she could find a corner of the party and just observe instead of having to be around everyone.

He sighed as he tried to tame his hair in the mirror, wrinkling his nose slightly at his reflection. He hated tuxedos, especially hated wearing one to a party like this - formal things for the kennel he just had to sit there politely and answer a few questions, but this kind of party sucked because he never knew quite what to expect. His mom appeared in the mirror behind him and silently took the comb, managing to tame the unruly curls with her usual skill - he really needed to learn how to do that. "Remember Mikey. You get into any kind of trouble, and you lose any and all privileges for the next month. That includes no gambling, got it?" He nodded, feeling her pat his head like he was one of the dogs she trained and he rolled his eyes. As soon as his mom had heard the words 'casino party' he'd had to fight his way uphill in order to be allowed even to go. He didn't know why he argued so much to go when he didn't want to - it would have been a good excuse, yet he hadn't grabbed it.
He shrugged, batting his moms hands away as they tried to fix what she had messed up by patting his head. "Mom! It's fine. It's just a birthday party, ok?" She sighed, shaking her head and poking him playfully. "All the ladies are going to be wishing you were their dates." He blushed, ducking his head down, thankful he didn't actually have a date. Although Grayson had asked him to go...did that make it a date? No, of course not. It was just two friends going to a party, that was all. He had to stop overthinking things like that - neither of them were gay, so it wasn't relevant in any way. "Moooom." He whined softly and she chuckled, obviously amused by his embarrassment. "Alright, run along Mikey. Your dad'll drop you off - I want you back in your dorm by midnight, got it?" He nodded, giving Anberlin a quick scratch behind the ears. "Behave for mom, okay boy?" He murmured before heading downstairs, peeking into the birthing room and smiling when he saw his dad there, leaning over Diem's birthing box. The female was the only currently pregnant female right then, their best birther, and they were looking forward to her puppies.
"Ready to go, Mikes?" He nodded and his dad stood up, slipping past him to wash his hands before they made their way out to the family car. "I don't know why you don't have a date, Mikey." His dad started once they were in the car and he winced, because he'd heard this talk plenty of times before. "When I was your age, I'd already had several girlfriends. You're certainly a good catch, so you should start getting out more, quit hanging with those delinquents you call friends... Wouldn't want people calling you gay, do you?..." Blah blah blah. He didn't even listen anymore, able to recite from memory this particular lecture. He just stared out the window until they got there, quickly escaping from the car as soon as he could. Oh, how happy he would be when he got his permit. He waved once before scurrying into the hotel, trying not to dwell on his dads words. He wasn't gay, he was just... not that interested in dating right then. Besides, girls scared him - he could never quite figure them out.
He spotted Caleigh and the others and sighed in relief, hurrying over to them and standing next to Grayson, feeling safer next to his friends. "Hey guys..." He smiled shyly as he greeted them, eying derek's hands on Caleigh and wondering why his friends eyes were on another girl. Of course, he never claimed to understand his friends, because sometimes they just confused the heck out of him. "Um... could I just get a water, please?" He quietly asked the bartender and blushed as the man snorted before getting his drink, sipping the water as he glanced around the hotel, his eyes wide now that he took the time to take in his surroundings.

People weren’t running around hooting and hollering, getting completely smashed and trying to make fools of themselves; the typical kind of thing you’d except before a party. Instead the room was filled with silence and apart from Mia and Ash sharing a room the group was rather divided, it seemed so quiet that you could probably hear a pin drop if you paid enough attention. The atmosphere was tense and Jacksen was aware that each member of the group he was arriving with had their own reasons to be nervous or wary of this party, their own internal problems or demons to deal with. Letting a sigh escape his lips he stepped in front of the full length mirror, his chocolate eyes taking in the sight before him; he had to admit he did look rather dashing, even if he couldn’t his bowtie straight no matter how many times he tried to readjust the thing it always fell crooked. His hands rose up from his sides and the tips of his index finger and thumb grabbed the edges of the black tilted bow and to tilt it the opposite direction in the hopes it would stay straight, of course once he released the silk bow it defiantly twisted back the way it had been. Jacks’ narrowed his eyes glaring at the reflection of the bow, his eyebrows slowly drawing together. He turned away from the mirror exhaling a heavy sigh as he walked from the room, waiting for the others to finish getting dressed so they could all go down to the party.
He’d been staring down at his polished shoes when he’d seen a dark shadow move out of the corner of his eye, his head rose back up to his full height as his eyes fell on the younger blonde. The corner of his mouth stretching out slightly when he noticed her eyes were trained on him, though he wasn’t sure what was going on in her head on the surface it looked like she was afraid of him. One of his hands strayed from his side and ran over his slicked back hair, tearing his eyes away from her he fell back until his body connected with the wall. His hand fell back to his side and both his hands were soon tunneling into the pockets of his pants, picking up what he thought was the muffled sounds from behind the door Mia and Ash were behind; it was a welcome sound amongst the silence that he hoped wouldn’t remain the whole night. His chocolate eyes darted towards the door as it started to open, the corners of his mouth stretching out for his ears at the sight of his friend and her rather tall boyfriend. Pushing off the wall he once again stood at his full height, watching the exchange the between the two blondes and when she turned his way the smile didn’t falter form his face. ”And you are a vision as always.” He winked at her before she turned to go stand next to the towering brunette male that was her date and boyfriend, his attention turned towards the girl he would be escorting.
Walking into the ballroom next to Pagen he craned his head in her direction to see how she was taking it all in, ”Would you care for a drink Pagen? I was thinking I’d go over to the bar and get myself a glass of water…” His head swiveled in the direction of Mia and Ash one of his eyebrows shooting up, ”…can I get you two anything too?” His head turned back in Pagen’s direction but stopped midway when he spotted a familiar brunette by the bar, his eyes widened as his mouth started to stretch out once more his lips giving way to show off a broad smile. He wasn’t sure if she had noticed him but his hand rose up near his face and he waggled his fingers in the form of wave. His hand fell back down by his side and his head finished its rotation and was facing Pagen’s direction as he waited for her answer.

Derek watched as she took hold of his hand and tossed it aside to remove it from her sight and to get it out of her face, his eyes lingered on his discarded hand as his lips thinned. His dark brows started to draw together, his hazel eyes returning to the blue eyed brunette looking up at her from under the scowl that had formed on his face; his discarded hand now getting lost in his dark locks. Though the scowl lingered on his face the corner of his mouth started to curl up into a twisted smirk as he mauled over her words, his upper body swayed in her direction put stopping as if there was something in his way from closing the space completely between them. ”Or perhaps you give yourself to much credit.” He returned to his full height as he drew away from her, his hand returning to his side as a scoff escaped him. He refused to give her the satisfaction of being right, especially since he’d been trying to be civilized and she’d slapped his hand away. The longer he let his eyes linger on her and the longer he was able to take in the vibe she was giving off the more intrigued he became, he was sure he’d have been able to recall instantly having crossed paths with a women who exuded so much confidence.
His attention ventured to the blonde he had roped into his side, taking note of her frame pressing up against his; he clinched his jaw regretting his decision to draw her close as soon as she’d taken this action, he didn’t like the intimacy that he felt between that little touch. His hand moving against her skin before he shuffled away from her enough to create the gap he needed between their two bodies, his hand freeing itself from its perch as his arm snaked around her slender neck and hung there lifelessly. Thankful for the distraction the pink and black haired girl managed to allow him as his wandered aimlessly in her direction. He wasn’t surprised by her need to voice her opinion, but his eyes did widen slightly when she chose to let her words slip from her mouth in French; he didn’t need Caleigh to suddenly be drawn to that and want to hang around her for the rest of the night, hearing the ramblings of two women in French was not high on his list. He wasn’t as enchanted as most people were by the foreign language, his eyelids quickly narrowed once more after the initial shock had worn off. His face contorting in disgust as he looked away from the women, ”That was not an open invitation to start a conversation in French. If you have something to say North, say it in English.” Derek hissed out the women’s name but still kept his attention drawn elsewhere; downcast the chilled glass that he held onto tightly, his grip tightened and he felt the glass start to slip away because of the wet exterior but he didn’t let it drop.
With his attention back on the blue eyed brunette his tongue darted out of his mouth and slid across his lower lip before it retreated into the safety of his mouth once more, he brought the chilled glass to his lips and let the liquid rush into his mouth. The burn as it went down drew his attention from her threat to the sensation he was feeling; her words were more of an annoyance, like a bug that just wouldn’t fly away even if you swatted at it. It wasn’t because of her attitude but the fact he’d been threatened before and none had ever resonated and made a lasting impression, his stubborn nature was always pushing and pushing the limits with which he was allowed to go. But with one hand hanging lifelessly around Caleigh and the other wanting to shatter the glass in his hand his fingers to occupied to defy the women and intrude on her space once more. A scoff escaped him once again at her cruel joke directed now at the innocent blonde who stood at his side, the malice n her tone was almost enchanting but it was more so do to the fact he could see himself spewing such venom to hurt another human without a care as to the consequences. His head swiveled in the direction of the fragile blonde at his side, his lips pursed as he devoured her in the quick glance before his lips parted. ”She has a point, you hardly seem like a card shark…though we can amuse your itch I suppose for a moment or two.” His eyes flickered from the doe eyed blonde over to the card tables, sweeping over each individual that was willing to lose their money. Noting the Brunette was now addressing him once more Derek’s head remained where it was as his shoulders rose and then fell, ”Thankfully my heart isn’t shattering into a thousand pieces.” He hissed out the words as the brown eyed brunette crossed into his line of vision with the shaggy haired male trailing by her side. With clinched jaw his head snapped back forward again, his eyes narrowing as his dark brows were drawing closer together; the all to familiar scowl creeping its way on to his features.
Derek was snapped from his thoughts as a familiar voice reached his ears, his eyes darting around until he spotted the familiar male. His head drooping to the side as his hazel eyes swept over the male before returning to his face, his eyes narrowed as his mouth hung open slightly allowing a soft chuckle to escape. His body shaking from the amusement that had over taken him, ”Well I wasn’t sure you’d show up Marx but I have to say I’m even more surprised you dressed for the occasion.” His hand gripped the chilled glass of scotch rose up as his index finger released it’d hold to extend out at the male, his hand lowering and raising in the air as he pointed up and down at the suit he had on. Derek couldn’t recall ever seeing him dress in this fashion, though neither ever found a reason to dress up when they didn’t have to. His eyes faltering to the boy who had found slid his way in next to Grayson, like he’d been there all along and was just now making his presence known as the older male’s shadow. The smirk that had crept onto his face as he’d been chuckling light heartily remained at the sight of the new addition, but softened to friendlier smile before vanishing all together. ”Brassini…a pleasant surprise. I wasn’t sure you’d make it.” He raised his glass to both before drawing another sip from it, tasting the partially melted ice that had mixed in already. As he drew the glass away from his lips a sigh escaped them, ”Off to piss away money then.” He started to head towards one of the poker tables, his arm still slung around Caleigh’s neck as he led her in the direction he wished to go; not looking back to see if the other two would follow, he didn’t care if they chose to tag along or go off and do their own thing. If he needed either one he was sure he could find them, and if they needed him he was sure they’d be able to find him. Find a table he liked he slid into one of the chairs leaving the blonde to fend for herself, his attention was drawn to the two open spaces near him and knew she would take one but was hoping the other would remain unoccupied unless snatched by Grayson or Mikey.

Carter had a solid group of friends, but as he looked around he never really rubbed elbows with most anyone at this party. If it hadn't been for Kayla asking him to accompany her he probably never would have came down here. He could deal with Gary and actually thought the man had been a pretty cool guy, but when his attention was drawn to Jay he could see that he'd be giving him problems for the night. It was nothing that Carter could not handle, well unless if it became physical, but it seemed that Gary was doing everything in his power to keep that from happening. "What makes you think i'd be embarassed of Tim? This isn't his sort of scene and Kayla needed a date. I heard there were other offers but none of them could rate as high as me, so I thought instead of having to lower her standards she might as well show up with who she wants, me."
Carter had a problem with running his mouth, if someone was an asshole to him it was common nature for him to be one in return, but he did try to settle himself so he wouldn't lash out too much. He instead stayed silent looking at Gary who seemed to be rectifying the situation, but it never failed that Jay would have some rude remark to make the entire time. "I guess someone took one too many testosterone pills before coming tonight," he joked, mostly to Kayla though he had no problem keeping his voice loud enough for the entire group to hear. He was sure he'd get something about a lack of it in his body or something queer like that, but honestly he could care less what Jay came up with as a comeback. He gave an apologetic smile over in Gary's direction knowing that the man would not be impressed, but it's not like Carter would ever get physical so it's not like Gary had anything to worry about, well on this blondes side anyway.
He watched as Gary kept talking cutting off the other as well from his alcohol, and he laughed as he brushed some hair from Kayla's shoulder so he could lean in real close, his hand cupping her face so he could turn her ear in a direction away from Gary and Jay so his words could be concealed, "I guess we know who wears the pants in that couple," he chuckled pecking her temple before withdrawing his hand and standing up straight again, this time a step closer to her so their arms were touching. He laughed as Gary told the both to behave, "i'm not the bohemian here," the term being something he'd just learnt the definition about in his history class this week prior, so an accomplished grin fell across his lips knowing that he'd smartened up for once. He pulled his cellphone out of his pocket wanting to text Timmy about his accomplishment, but instead he knew that he better not and shoved the small electronic device back into his pocket.
He did not say anything to the apology that he'd been given before the alcohol had been taken away, but he had to smirk when he glanced over at Kayla who seemed absolutely pissed at James standing there. Carter sighed as he took a step back and tried to distance himself from the conversation, but she did have a point because it'd been obvious he hadn't meant the apology. Carter was used to having to stand up and defend his relationship though, so it's not like anything that Jay could say would upset him. He sighed as he hated that she was getting so damn annoyed at one of her good friends parties, "Kayla, it's fine, just let it go, he's not worth it," he glanced over at Jay hating the fact that he'd pissed her off, but there was nothing Carter could do about it, so instead when he'd heard the rest of the crowd shout he joined right in, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" At least now maybe things would go back to normal and Jay would find his way away from them.

Jay knew that no matter what he had said to Kayla at this point wouldn’t make things any better. He had already put his foot far enough in his mouth to save himself. The rest of them he didn’t care if he made amends with them, but he really didn’t want Kayla upset with him. Too late. What he wouldn’t do for another drink at that point, but Gary had taken his and if he knew anything about his best friend he had probably already made his way up to the bar to either tell the bartender to cut him off or at least slow the flow in his glass down. Jay should have been heated, but he would understand if in fact that’s what Gary had done. He had been drinking a lot more than usual, and while he knew it was becoming an issue, Jay needed something to take the edge off of him. Simply said, he had way too much stress and no outlet for it. The venom behind Kayla’s words actually cut through him like a knife. If she only had a clue what it did to him to have her that upset with him, but Jay knew he couldn’t say a word. No, that was untrue. He could tell her, but what good would that do? It wouldn’t. Even if Aidan wasn’t in the picture Jay could never actually be with her so what was the point? When it came down to it, his behavior alone had probably ruined his chances with her anyway.
His blue eyes remained locked on Carter as the other male spoke. Truth be told, Jay didn’t care why Tim hadn’t come out tonight to celebrate, he really was only looking to push Carter’s buttons. For what? He had no idea. Whatever had come over Jay he couldn’t seem to help himself and at this point it was getting difficult to reign himself back in. ”If you say so man. I mean it’s whatever. Kayla needed a date, your boyfriend didn’t want to come. Eh, doesn’t matter.” Jay rolled his eyes, shrugging his shoulders. He let out a sigh, running his hand through his hair, scratching the back of his head for a few seconds. He’d hard Carter’s snide remark, suggesting that Jay was on steroids, but he decided to let it go. He wasn’t going to fight Carter, not at that moment anyway. Jay had heard the comments around campus that he had taken them, but truth be told he hadn’t. Steroids wasn’t something he messed with and it certainly wouldn’t help his modeling career which was something he actually enjoyed.
The smirk on his lips immediately fell when he had heard Kayla. She was right, he wasn’t really sorry, well in part he had been. It wasn’t his intentions to ruin the party or make people uncomfortable yet there he was doing it. Jay needed to get control of his feelings before things went too far. He had already managed to piss Mia off by what he had done at the Angel party, but now here he was doing something similar to Kayla. What the hell was wrong with him lately? Sure he loved his life, he loved being wealthy and never having to worry about things, but this sort of out of control behavior was unacceptable and Jay knew it. ”You’re right Kayla. You are absolutely correct. I’m being an ass and I’m sorry, okay. No more smirking, no snickering. I’m truly apologizing to you this time. I’m sorry.” What else could he have done? Hearing everyone yell HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Jay turned his head towards the direction of the doorway. Neil had come in and he was so busy acting like a complete jerk that he had missed it. What else could he accomplish at this party? He needed a drink
His blue eyes widened in shock, seconds later narrowing in disgust. His sister had the nerve to walk through the door, holding hands with Ash. What did he have to do to get rid of this kid? Ash Skinner was relentless and he needed to be taught a lesson, clearly he hadn’t learned it a year ago. What Mia saw in him Jay could never understand. He had nothing and was nothing, aside from being a successful model. That didn’t mean anything to Jay. He could feel the anger rising in his body at the blatant disrespect Mia had for him and for Neil by brining Ash to the party. What did he know, Ash wasn’t from their world, he wouldn’t have known any better. ”I can’t even believe she would be so fucking disrespectful.” His words weren’t meant for anyone in general, but they were loud enough for anyone around him to hear and dripping with venom and disgust. Jay knew he had to keep it under control. This wasn’t the place or the time to take care of that gold digging scrub once and for all. It wasn’t going to be easy but for the sake of Neil and everyone at the party, Jay would try to keep calm. Try.

Love. One simple word could make Mia’s heart skip a beat and race at the same time. Everything about Ash was perfect, at least in her eyes. Mia knew that she was the luckiest girl in the world, Ash had put up with her attitude for so many years now even though she knew that he hated girls like her. Somehow he loved her despite it all, even the insanity that Jay had put them through, that he was still putting them through. As her blue eyes watched him cross the room, a smile formed on her lips. Just Ash leaning against the door frame rolling up his sleeves gave her butterflies, his kiss however sent sparks through her body. Mia knew that this was what it was going to be like for the rest of her life, the feeling would never diminish or cease. She loved Ash that much. ”You spoil me Ash Skinner, you know that right?” Mia knew it. He had always been that way with her, always given her what she wanted. Ash put up with her moods, he put her in her place when she was being unreasonable, he loved her enough to let her be herself, and he always gave in when she wanted something. Her parents had spoiled her materialistically, Ash gave her everything else and then some.
The flush on Pagan’s face looked adorable, it made her look innocent, like a child of sorts. Mia had only known a fraction of the things that the female had gone through in her life, and what she had known was beyond comprehension. Pagan had her childhood ripped from her, never afforded the things a child should have. Now, all Mia wanted to do was give her that opportunity, or at least the opportunities that she had been given growing up. Going to parties, dressing in fancy clothes, never wanting for a thing were all part of Mia’s childhood and while she knew it was something Pagan would probably never get used to or even like she simply had to try. ”Nonsense sweetie, you are stunning.” She leaned in a bit closer to whisper. ”You deserve this.” Her tall slender body stood back upright, a smile on her lips. ”And Ash is my Prince Charming.” Mia let out a small laugh. He truly was her Prince Charming and her savior. Looking over at Jacks, Mia bit down on her bottom lip, playfully rolling her blue eyes at the sight of his tie. Why could he never manage to get them to lay straight? It wasn’t like he was a stranger to this sort of thing, yet it seemed like every party they attended together she always noticed that about him. ”Oh Jacks, let me fix this for you.” When she was growing up, Mia always loved to help her father tie his bowtie for formal events, she thought it made him look so dashing. Her slender fingers worked the tie with ease and before she tightened it, Mia made sure to tuck Jacksen’s shirt points into the back of the bowtie. Taking a step back, she admired her work, nice and straight. ”Now, my dear, you look smashing.”
Mia’s head turned at the sound of Ash’s voice calling her name. Again, the butterflies returned, they always returned. Her head tilted slightly as she noticed that he had been playing with his hair, the look on his face was…off. Mia couldn’t help but wonder if she had said something that had upset him. The blonde took a second to replay her conversations with Pagan and Jacksen, yet nothing had come to mind that would have upset him. Perhaps the fact that she had retied Jack’s tie? No, that couldn’t be it either, could it? Making her way over to her boyfriend, Mia smiled softly before sliding her hand into his, brushing her body directly up against him. A tiny laugh escaped her lips when she had heard Ash speak. ”Mickey are you serious? Of course you could have rocked that, I’ve seen you rock something like that on the runway, but I love you just the way you are. You always look amazing.” To Mia it didn’t matter what Ash wore. He could have worn jeans and a t-shirt to this party and her heart still would have skipped a beat every time she looked at him. Running her fingers down his tie, Mia wrapped her hands around Ash’s waist before softly placing her lips against his. ”I love you Mickey.” Mia’s voice was soft, almost a whisper. Slipping her hand back into his, they walked towards the door.
Ash’s words meant so much to her. She knew that that he would be right by her side through it all. Last time she had given up, threw in the towel at her brother’s demands but this time she wasn’t giving in. Mia was going to be strong this time and with Ash by her side she could get through it all, not just tonight, but forever. Letting out a sigh, she felt as though she had been holding her breath the entire ride down to the lobby. Anxiety seemed to rise in her as she kept her blue eyes locked on her brother knowing full well she couldn’t ignore him the entire night as much as she wanted to. The sound of Jacksen’s voice interrupted her train of thought, and she welcomed it. Jacks was so sweet to offer to get them drinks, not just Pagan. Pagan, Mia needed to make sure that she was okay, but also needed to remind her that she needed to address her ‘date’ once and a while, otherwise she would be flat out rude. ”A glass of champagne perhaps? Please.” Or several. While Mia didn’t make a habit of getting tipsy, right about now anything to help her nerves would be a nice. She knew that wasn’t going to help or solve the problem, but when she saw the look on Jay’s face when he finally saw her with Ash, Mia suddenly wished she hadn’t come. All of this was inevitable, but she hated that she had to drag Ash through it or that Jay, more than likely, would cause a scene. Neil and his guests didn’t deserve it either. Looking over at the other female, Mia leaned closer to her so only Pagan could hear her. ”You need to talk to him sweetie. Nothing is going to happen, you’re safe okay? Please, don’t be rude to him, he’s one of my closest friends.” Mia knew it was hard for Pagan, and maybe she was coming across as short with her tone, but she hoped that her sister would understand what she was going through.
It was now or never. Mia couldn’t hide from Jay. If there was one thing she knew, if he had to come looking for her things would only be worse because he would have time to stew over it. She looked up at Ash, a hint of fear in her blue eyes. What Jay was capable of almost scared her and the fact that she hadn’t listened to his last request, Mia knew that this time around he wouldn’t be so nice about things, not that he had been nice the last time. ”Please don’t leave me.” Her hand tightened around her boyfriends as they walked towards her brother and Kayla. The look on Jay’s face said it all, he was livid with her ‘blatant disrespect’ for showing up with Ash. She had to stand up to him, she couldn’t let Jay win. If she let him win this round, the next step wasn’t going to mean a damn thing. Now standing eye to eye with her older brother, Mia was almost directly in his face, just enough space between them to make things awkward. ”Don’t you dare say a word James Ellwood. I don’t care what you think or what you say. You’re not winning this time, do you understand me? I love Ash. I’ve always loved him and he loves me. Bottom line, nothing you can say or do is going to keep us apart.” Taking a step back, Mia smiled at Kayla. She felt bad for interrupting whatever was going on between them, though she suspected absolutely nothing and Jay was probably pissing her off because that was just the way her brother operated. ”My apologies Kayla if I interrupted your conversation. You look beautiful.” Mia tried to ignore the icy blue glare she was getting from her brother. Jay was about to explode and she knew it.

Caleigh stood there a bit shocked when Derek addressed Charlie in such a rude and demeaning manner, although truthfully part of her wasn’t sure why she was surprised knowing she had seen such attitudes before in the past. Although with that simple comment from Derek it seemed to immediately scare Caleigh off from mentioning anything in French for fear of upsetting anyone, at least for the time being anyways. She always had just naturally assumed Derek didn’t really mind all that much when she would occasionally go off in her first language but just from that statement and his tone she seemed to gather that opinion wasn’t solely reserved for Charlie. At the same time though knowing what a doormat Caleigh came off like part of the time, she would definitely be refraining herself from speaking any of it and trying to control that urge even that meant she had to silence a part of herself and her personality all just in the hopes so one stupid boy might like her more.
Caleigh turned her head managing a smile at Grayson, honestly she was just a little surprised at his comment part of her had been expecting more of a bite to didn’t mean of course she wouldn’t end up hearing something more snide from him later on. To tell the truth Caleigh wasn’t even really all that sure why she hung around with Derek and Steven and the rest of their group, well obviously she now hung around just so she could get close to Derek but it hadn’t always been like that. Though she was sure the only reason she put up with Grayson was because of Mikey, she had a bit of a soft spot for the younger boy, he was just so cute, adorable and innocent and she would do pretty much anything for that kid. “Thank you…” she replied slowly although was sure Grayson didn’t actually mean it as a compliment sensing some sarcasm in his tone. “You look quite handsome this evening yourself.” Caleigh commented, quietly. She would play nice, there was no point ruining the evening with rude remarks besides it was true Grayson had cleaned up nicely and if she didn’t know him better would have thought he was complete gentleman but appearances could be quite deceiving couldn’t they.
She bit her lip feeling Derek shuffle a little away from her and his arm just hang lifelessly over her shoulder, certainly wasn’t giving her the greatest feeling like she had any appeal of desire for someone. Her attention snapped to the dark-haired female whom Derek had been giving all his time and attention to. She pursed her lips slightly, she hated the way the word ‘blondie’ just rolled off Merrick’s lips, she always got a little upset by those sort of judgmental comments. Caleigh wasn’t stupid and she hated that assumption she seemed to get plenty of, contrary to come people’s belief she did know a few things. She wasn’t some idiot she knew how to play cards and although didn’t really consider herself an amateur certainly didn’t consider herself a full-blown expert as she sensed this other girl was by her tone and level of confidence. Hearing Derek’s comment that backed up what Merrick had just said royally infuriated Caleigh but she didn’t show it, for some absolutely unknown reason she kept herself calm and composed and resisted any urge to snap at his degrading statement. A smile moved across her lips as she stared at Derek “Well appearances aren’t all what they seem on the surface, I thought you might surely know that.” She replied calmly, trying to keep her determination in check that she was going to have a nice evening and not have it ruined by Derek or Grayson or anyone else for that matter.
Caleigh raised her appletini to her lips taking a sip smiling broadly when she noticed Mikey had arrived next to them, she was so glad he had actually showed up and really hadn’t been all too completely sure whether he would or not. She felt like she some dig being led around on some leash by Derek as he walked over in the direction to one of empty card tables. Unfortunately she couldn’t seem to find any part of her to object to any of it, it was like the sane part of her was trapped inside this box looking out the window of her eyes and screaming at her to just walk away or something, but walking away from Derek always seemed to be a hard thing for her to do. Caleigh turned her head around behind her as Derek continued leading her around, shooting a look to Mikey that clearly suggested she really wanted someone else’s company at this point.

The glass touching his lips, Grayson allowed another large sip of Johnny Walker Blue to slide down his throat. The taste of the whisky sent a small shiver down his spine. There was something about the way the scotch tasted, something that made Grayson think about his past. It was bittersweet at the very least. Perhaps it was what his father had drank or maybe it was simply just in his imagination, but either way the golden liquid reminded him of his mother, of her love for him, of what he watched happen to her. A smirk formed on his lips, his head dipping in agreement with Derek. He wasn’t quite sure why he’d shown up either, but it could potentially turn out to be an acceptable evening. ”Not my sort of thing here but it could work.” A night of drinking always had its pro’s especially when the alcohol was free, not that money mattered to Grayson anymore. ”If the occasion calls for it I can dress up. I see that you’ve also dressed to impress.” A chuckle escaped the boys lips knowing full well that Darius Whitfield did not dress to impress anyone much like Grayson. He had deemed it appropriate to dress like the theme of the party but in his mind it was well justified that way, it simply had nothing to do with impressing the unoriginal drones that took up space within the room he was in. They all managed to somehow look the same and all for what, to impress the next person who had not one original thought inside their head, worried about nothing more than their rung on the social ladder.
His eyebrow raised at the words that left Caleigh’s lips. He knew that he looked handsome, he had looked at himself in the mirror but what had bothered him was the fact that Caleigh had said it to him. In his mind she belonged to Derek, to be used at his discretion and it was downright rude and disrespectful of her to notice another male especially while she was with Derek. Even if she hadn’t been standing beside the other male, Grayson still found it extremely disrespectful that Caleigh would notice anything about him. The girl clearly had no loyalties to Derek which made Grayson not trust her, not that he trusted her to begin with. Turning his head, the brunette male flagged the bartender down, ordering another drink. Once the freshly filled glass of scotch was in his hand, Grayson turned his attention back to Caleigh, a lack of actual expression on his face. ”Don’t I?” His words were rhetorical and not actually a question meant for the blonde to answer, but something told Grayson that she wasn’t quite intelligent enough to understand that. Most people weren’t. He had found over the years that as individuals most people weren’t on his intellectual level but as a group their brain power seemed to diminish even further.
Swirling the liquid around, the ice melting just slightly, Grayson’s blue eyes continued to scan the crowd of people before his eyes fell on the familiar boy. While his facial expression did not dare falter, inside Grayson chuckled a little. He hadn’t actually expected Mikey to show up to the party, assuming that his parents would not have let him attend. They seemed to keep a tight leash on the boy which was somewhat understandable given his ability to socialize was almost nonexistent and the fact that he was a year younger than others in his grade. Grayson’s eyes followed the boy as he approached them making sure that no one stopped him or bothered him for being there knowing full well that some of the people in the room were likely to have the potential to bully Mikey which he simply would not tolerate. As the boy stood beside him, there was a certain level of satisfaction inside Grayson knowing that Mikey was safe and that he would be looking out for him. ”Mikey. Nice to see that your parents didn’t completely flip out and allowed you to come this evening.” He raised his glass of scotch in the air towards the younger male before finishing the rest of his drink, placing the glass on the bar top.
His blue eyes caught the backs of Derek and Caleigh walking towards the card tables. A chuckle escaped his lips at the sight of the male leading the blonde around like she was a dog. If she was any sort of women at all she would have said something to Derek, but she never dared. It was sad but amusing. Grayson loved control, he loved manipulating people without their knowledge or will to say anything about it. Watching Derek move the girl like she was his puppet always made Grayson smirk. Maybe one day she would say something to him but clearly today wasn’t that day. Shaking his head, he looked down at the younger male, the smirk leaving his lips before their eyes made contact. ”Would you like to try some gambling Mikey? I’m certain you’ve never done that before, have you?” There was an innocence about him, an innocence that no one else Grayson associated himself with had. He liked that about Mikey but at the same time it made Grayson very nervous to leave the boy alone. Mikey against the world just seemed cruel and the thought of it caused him a certain level of anxiety. He had to protect him, he just tried not to over think why he felt that way. The mere thought made Grayson feel like he might fall over the edge to insanity.
