Sliding the little plastic room key card into the leather pocket of his wallet, near his other ‘plastic’, he made sure it was snuggly inside before snapping shut the little leather wallet and sliding it into his back pocket; the ding of the elevator doors drawing his pale blue eyes up from the floor. Barely stretching out his legs as he took the two small strides into the elevator before turning on his heel to look at the panel of buttons he jabbed his right index finger into the one marked lobby. His right hand jerking back and moving up near his head, his fingers combing through his golden locks while his eyes danced over his reflection in the metal doors that were once wide open. Gary shuffled his feet over the carpeted surface as he waited impatiently to finally reach the ground floor, these things always seemed to take their time when you had to be somewhere; his pale blue eyes darted towards his wrist as he pulled back the sleeve of sports jacket to check the time on his watch. A heavy sigh escaped his lips as he watched the second hand tick slowly from place to the next, time wasn’t his enemy Gary just wasn’t very good being patient. His gaze turned upwards to watch the glowing number above the door come to a stop on the L before the two metal doors sprang apart and he was able to step out of them.
Gary made his way towards the ballroom and his eyes were instantly darting around the room, thankfully there weren’t that many people there yet; that was also a bad thing, he wasn’t sure when Neil was supposed to be showing up. Once again a heavy sigh escaped his lips as he made his way deeper into the room, making a B line for the bar he plopped down onto of the cushioned bar chairs. He rested his elbows on top of the bar and dropped his face into the palms of his hands, his eyelids shut before he proceeded to rub his face. His hands finally slamming down on bar top as his eyes shot open, the bartender suddenly in front of him cleaning out a glass and looking him over. Gary narrowed his eyes and stuck out his index finger in the guy’s direction, ”vodka martini…shaken not stirred.” The corners of his mouth curled up as his lips gave way to show off his perfectly white smile, he’d done a terrible Connery but the fact he’d gotten a chuckle out of the man made it ok. His hands drummed on top of the bar while his head swiveled about to see if anything had happened since he’d last checked; the bartender making his martini, it was a James Bond party he should have one or maybe two.
As the drink was slid in front of him he grabbed the glass, most of it resting in his palm as the stem slid through his middle and ring finger. Raising the glass up to his lips he took a sip, as the liquid went down his throat his lips once again spread out wide in a crooked grin. ”Well these things aren’t so bad.” He said more to himself as he shifted his wait to turn to chair to see more people making their way in, a familiar face here or there that he couldn’t put a name to but he knew sooner or later someone would walk through that door and it’d be on. Like a surge of electricity had been sent through his body he suddenly felt giddy and couldn’t stop a chuckle form escaping his lips, party Gary was ready to come out and play.

Caleigh bustled around with getting ready for this big party, she was actually kind of excited to get all dressed and go to this big elaborate party and one that was themed like James Bond at that. She had gone for a beautiful asymmetrical red dress, she always thought she looked really good in red. She would be lying if she were say she didn’t consider Derek just a little when she originally gone about find an appropriate outfit for the party, she had it bad for him. Finishing with the last few touches on her hair she carefully applied her makeup and then sprayed a little bit of the perfume that smelled like apples along her inner wrists and neck.
She smiled to herself looking over her reflection in the mirror at her dorm. She couldn’t help but feel her confidence lifted a bit up as she turned a little a few times looking over her figure in the mirror as if she were looking for any sort of flaw that might be there. She wasn’t really a much of a gambler so she would probably just play a couple hands of poker or something and then find something to drink. She knew that hotel room keys were to be available for anyone who wanted one attending the party so knowing that there was definitely a part of her that was going to do her best and try to get her own alone time with Derek. Caleigh actually already had her room key tucked away safely in her clutch, and she had actually started getting ready for the party back in her hotel room with her dress and shoes, and then halfway through she realized in all the rush she had forgotten to grab her makeup bag so she had to go back to dorm anyways so just finished everything else back there. She was honestly like a lovesick puppy sometimes, and had seriously never considered falling for him that was the last thing on her mind at the time when two got into their odd messed-up relationship. She had herself convinced that after she was finished with last tool of a boyfriend quite some time ago that all she needed was something that was just pure sex to keep her tided over until she found her new love, but needless to say she found herself accidentally falling for Derek against all better judgment from the small rational part of her brain.
Caleigh’s heels clicked on the hotel’s tile floor as she stepped in though the revolving front door of the Hilton. She wound her way through a couple hallways until she made her way to the ballroom where the party was being held. She smiled to herself glancing around at everything, Gary and Jay had definitely gone all out for this event it looked really quite nice. Immediately making her way over to the bar and smiled at Gary “Appletini please.” She spoke to the bartender. “This looks absolutely amazing in here.” She commented to Gary the slight touch of a French accent in her voice. Caleigh glanced around a moment trying to see if she could find any sign of Derek, she had been forced to show up alone after she couldn’t get a hold of him very well to figure out if he was coming with her. “You definitely are really good to your friends.” She added with a smile. wordcount --- 573 music --- silent outfit --- right here notes --- i'll make this look pretty later XD tag --- gary and anyone else

Looking at himself in the full length mirror, Jay smirked at the reflection that stared back at him. Sure he loved fashion, he loved looking like he stepped straight out of a modeling shoot, but sometimes he just preferred his jeans and t-shirts. Tonight wasn’t one of those nights, tonight it was about looking good and taking it to the next level. Turning, Jay grabbed his jacket that had been hanging in the makeshift closet, sliding it over his arms before looking back in the mirror. Flawless, the gray suit made his blue eyes stand out like crystals. Jay smirked at himself. He could only hope that Kayla would give him a second glance, but even if she didn’t there was bound to be at least one or two girls there that would. He hated that he had to think like that, Jay knew he could make her happy if she had given him the chance. No, that wasn’t entirely true either, he couldn’t make her happy, he couldn’t be with her at all. It wasn’t feasible or realistic in any sense. Jay shook his head, he had to stop thinking about it, about Kayla. It was a nonissue in more than one sense and tonight was about Neil, not him. Well, it was always about Jay, but he could put himself aside for a few short hours to celebrate his friend, couldn’t he? Perhaps. Of all of the guys, Jay was definitely the most self-absorbed and selfish hands down. In another life Jay could have been different, he could have been the typical all-Anerican, boy next door but that wasn’t the life that was handed to him. He was an Ellwood and it was time for him to put on that exterior shell he had to carry with him, tonight was about spending money and having fun with the people he considered his friends.
Grabbing his hotel keycard, Jay tucked it into his interior jacket pocket before heading towards the door of his hotel room. Even though the party wasn’t set to start for another half an hour Jay wanted to meet Gary down in the Ballroom to make sure that everything had been set up properly and to start drinking, something that was becoming a regular past time for the male. As he walked down the hall, Jay smiled flirtatiously with the women walking past him. He could hear their whispering even when they had thought he was out of earshot. It was all a game, but even the littlest of ego boosts was fun for him. Standing outside the elevators, Jay waited for his transportation to the main floor arrived, admiring himself in the reflection of the brass colored doors. As the doors opened, Jay stepped aside to let a couple out before entering the elevator, pressing the L button. The elevator music made him laugh, it was always the same sort of music no matter what hotel he was in, no matter the country. Running his hand through his blonde hair, Jay let out a sigh. Tonight was bound to be epic one way or another. As the elevator stopped on the main floor, Jay adjusted his tie before the doors opened revealing the guest waiting, a smile on his lips. The male nodded with respect towards one of the older gentlemen as he stepped out of the elevator, recognizing him as an acquaintance of his father’s.
Making his way to the ballroom, Jay walked through the doors, stepping into what now looked like a scene out of James Bond, Casino Royale. It was impressive what the party planners had done with the room. The slot tables had the dealers at the ready for the guest to arrive, the slot machines were already flashing, inviting people to sit at them and the bar, well the bar was stocked and ready to go. And so was jay. Spotting his best friend sitting at the bar, Jay made his way over, sliding onto the stool beside him. ”Damn we didn’t a good just bro.” Jay laughed. The only thing he and Gary did was hire the party planner. Jay looked at Gary’s drink. ”Let me guess, shaken, not stirred?” Shaking his head, Jay motioned for the bartender. ”Vox martini, dirty, three olives, light on the vermouth.” Jay took another glance around the room, admiring what he and Gary would be taking credit for. Neil was going to be more than surprised when he arrived. Out of the corner of his eye, Jay saw the bartender place his drink on a napkin in front of him. Grabbing a hold of his drink, Jay took a sip of the martini. Not bad. ”What time is Neil supposed to get here?” Jay wasn’t the most patient of people, tonight was no different. He was ready to get the party started, now all they had to do was wait for the guest of honor.

Still feeling the roar of the engine hum through his body, the sole of Derek’s shoe was resting against the gas pedal his head was tilted upwards and to the side; his lips were parted slightly as he stared up the figure waiting near his open car door for him to get out so he could park the car. The car sat idling in park, the passenger that had been riding along with him had already climbed out and was waiting for him near the other side of the car so they could walk into the party together. Derek closed his lips as he clenched his teeth tightly together, his lower body turning in the direction of the door and one foot at a time he reluctantly emerged from his car. With the soles of his feet planted firmly on the ground and his head held up high he found he had to look down at the male whose face was riddled with pimples, a look of disgust crossed over his face as the corners of his lips turned down and crease formed between his brows. His eyes narrowed as his face drew nearer to the other male, he opened his mouth and let out a heavy sigh watching as his hot breath disappeared into the air. His right hand sprang from his side and palled into a fist, all put his index which remained out stretched and inch from the boy’s face; his face stopping at the same distance his finger had, his hazel eyes boring into the male’s crystal blue eyes. ”There better not be anything wrong with her when I get her back, do you got that…” Growling out the words under his breath his hazel eyes darted downward and he found himself and having to tittering his body back a bit to get a good look at the name etched on the golden name tag that was pinned to the breast pocket of his vest. ”…Eddie?” Once again locking eyes with the male Derek jerked his head forward, the corner of his mouth slowly rose as his lips parted at the side slightly a faint shadow cast over his face as the smirk that was starting to form took over; the male had flinched, Derek’s heart rate started to increase from the excitement. But he couldn’t continue playing outside, snatching the little lip of paper that would get him his car back before he proceeded to step around the door and strutted around the front of the car.
He took the small step up from the road to the sidewalk, his head turning in Charlie’s direction; his pink tongue darting out of his mouth to run along his lips before continued on his march into the fancy hotel. As they neared the revolving door he took the time to look over his shoulder and watch as he car drove off into the darkness, a heavy sigh escaped his lips as he fell in behind Charlie and pushed his way into the warm lobby. Derek rubbed his hands together in an attempt to chase the cold the off them as his hazel eyes took in the sight that was in front of them, he was soon tugging at the open collar of his shirt as he fell in step with Charlie as they made their way to the ballroom. Hanging back in the doorway, Derek once again was taking in his surroundings. His attention was drawn to the small that group was gathered near the bar, with his eyes narrowed he could make out the two blonde males as Garritt Cromwell and James Ellwood the two who’d arranged this whole thing. Unfastening the button of his sports jacket he made his way over to the group, his eyes lingering on the blonde in red; upon realizing who it was the corners of his lips twitched slightly, wanting to smirk but instead he hid it as he drew nearer. Making sure to brush up against her before leaning against the bar, his eyes lingering in places before he tore his eyes away. ”You decided to come then Caleigh?” Turning his to stare at the two blonde males still at the bar Derek had thought he’d heard one mumble out something under his breath, an inside joke or merely mistaking what was said and what he’d thought he’d heard. Turning his back to Caleigh completely he faced the bartender, his fingertips drumming on the bar top while he scanned the different labels of the bottles that were there. ”Scotch on the rocks…” trailing off the end of his sentence he locked eyes with the bartender, watching his every move.
With his drink finally in hand Derek found himself a seat on a couch that seems far enough away from everyone else, always scanning the room to see what was going on; with the way things were going it looked like he might have to shake things up himself. The fingers on his free hand mussed his brown locks, pulling at the ends before he let go and let out a heavy sigh. ”Well something interesting better happen…” Glancing down at his bare wrist he wished he’d worn a watch for once, he’d thought he’d been late but it seemed like this was some time of private party by the numbers that were in the room. He nibbled on the corner of his lip as he decided to wait it out and give it a few more minutes before he bolted, thankfully he had patience on his side and an open bar.

Kait was excited about the party, mainly because she hadn't seen Neil in a ridiculously long time. It was a bit sad, really; she could remember a time when she'd been quite close to him, but for one reason or another they rarely crossed paths any more. At least she would get a chance to wish him a happy birthday. She was quite pleased with Gary and Jay's ability to put this whole thing together, even if their money had done most of the work for them. She couldn't wait to see how the ballroom looked. And the theme... well, that was just pure genius. Fun, but still classy. Not like the vampire fiasco, where all the girls had dressed like a whore and a half. Surveying herself in the mirror, Kait raised an eyebrow. She definitely did not look like a whore. At worst, she was an escort. An expensive one. At best, a Bond girl, though that was a rather mighty claim to make unless you'd actually played the female lead in one of those films. Unfortunately, Kait had never had the pleasure of doing so. Whatever. Point was, she looked fine and everyone else would have to deal with it. Making final adjustments to her hair and makeup, Kait grabbed her purse, heading for the door. After slipping on her shoes and double-checking to make sure she had all the necessities, she exited the room, eager to get down to the party.
Like so many before her, Kait was forced to endure the tinny elevator music as the machine carried her to the correct floor. She rolled her eyes at the cheesiness of the sound. Really, what was the point? Nobody really enjoyed it, did they? Fortunately, the journey was over soon enough, and she escaped before the tune became lodged in her subconscious for all eternity. As she stepped out and made her way to the ballroom, Kait wondered how many people would be present. Gary and Jay, probably, considering they were calling themselves the hosts. As if she didn't get enough of them already... then again, their company was better than none. Pausing for a moment, Kait looked herself over one more time, making sure her outfit was still in order. It seemed nothing too drastic had happened in the five minutes it took her to arrive, and she smirked, picking a small speck of lint from her dress and finally entering the ballroom.
Almost immediately, her eyes fell upon the dynamic duo themselves, seated comfortably at the bar. "Of course," she breathed, making her way toward them. However, she slowed, spotting Derek all alone on one of the couches. A slight frown crossed her face at his anti-social behaviour. Seriously, could he try any harder to act mysterious? Not feeling particularly bold, Kait simply gave him a nod before moving along. Somebody else could take on the challenge of entertaining him. Upon her arrival at the bar, Kait broke into a wide grin, greeting her room mates enthusiastically. "Hey, guys," she waved, leaning against the bar for a moment, "how's it going? This is looking good so far!" She gestured to the room, which was slowly filling up with people. The bartender moved as if to ask for her drink order, but she waved him away, figuring there would still be alcohol around later. Once pleasantries had been exchanged, she focused her attention on the girl next to Gary, trying to place her. She couldn't quite recall having met her, and so smiled, introducing herself. "Hi, I'm Kait. Can I just say, your dress is absolutely stunning!" Red was definitely a good colour on her, too, and she looked as if she'd just stepped off a runway.
tag party people outfit check those earrings notes now the party can really get started ;]

When Charlie had agreed to go with Derek to Neil’s party, she knew it could end up being a roller coaster ride of sorts but she was willing to humor her friend. Friends, they were friends, weren’t they? If Derek kept friends then perhaps he would have considered her one and maybe he did in his own way. He wasn’t as awful as the whispers she overheard, misunderstood, well maybe not totally, but enough that Charlie wasn’t going to brush him off like almost every other person at Jackson had. She wasn’t like most people, Charlie tried to see the good in everyone. Some people you just had to dig a little deeper to see, but that’s how you find diamonds wasn’t it? The ride to the hotel had been silent which wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, she knew that Derek could have ruined it, well not ruined it, but he could have put a damper on it so Charlie wasn’t about to complain. As she stepped out of his Mustang and into the cold air, she wrapped her tiny arms around her body trying to fend off the cold air. Charlie felt silly in her dress though it wasn’t wearing the dress itself, she always wore dresses, it was the length of the dress that was throwing her off. She was certain that at least a handful of the other people would look at her like she didn’t belong, but what they didn’t know was that she actually did. Charlie was like every other rich kid at Jackson, or at least in theory. Growing up the same way they had, Charlie traded in her ‘Charlotte’ persona long before she entered Jackson for the loud, odd mess they laid their eyes on every day. What most of them were so unaware of was that she had gone to her fair share of parties just like these, dressing the part, acting the part and most of the time loathing every second of it. Tonight she was willing to put it all aside for her friend and have a good time or try to.
As the wind whipped, a chill took over Charlie’s body causing her to shudder as she watched Derek still deciding whether or not to actually emerge from his car and let the attendant to drive it away. She couldn’t help but smirk a little at the thought that an inanimate object had such control over the one guy at Jackson who never seemed to relinquish his control. At least she knew he cared about something though she suspected he cared about far more than he let on. Running her hands over her bare arms, Charlie has wished that she had brought a coat, but having to deal with that on top of trying to not trip over her long gown was too much for the girl to worry about. A sigh of relief escaped her lips as she watched Derek reluctantly begin to step out of his car. Watching the male walk up to the attendant with such arrogance, Charlie simply shook her head and rolled her eyes as he got right in the poor kids face. She wasn’t surprised in the least as the threatening words exited his mouth, she expected it, not that it made it right, but she had expected it. Charlie wondered if part of Derek got off on seeing people cower before him. Sure it was slightly sadistic or maybe a bit more than slightly, but it seemed to work for Derek. Whatever, she wasn’t going to judge him. She was all about letting your ‘freak flag fly’. Charlie certainly lived her life to the beat of her own drum and had no intentions of changing, not even for her parents with their constant barrage of insults and misunderstandings. Compromise only meant defeat and that was something she wasn’t willing to do, surrender. Giving the attendant, Eddie, an apologetic look as Derek finally broke his threatening glare, Charlie shook her head. ”Thank you Eddie.” She didn’t want to leave the poor kid totally pissing in his pants that Derek might just beat the ever loving crap out of him, though she was pretty sure that he would if he came back and there was so much as even dirt on his car.
There really was something to be said about Derek as he walked towards her, strutting. He had a sort of swag about him that couldn’t be touched, it was different. Charlie could see why the ladies loved to hate him and the guys, well though they insisted that they disliked him, it was more like a certain sort of envy they wouldn’t dare to admit. Looking up at the much taller male as he now stood beside her, Charlie smiled without so much as a word. She considered saying something to him about the way he had treated the attendant, but she knew that her words would be wasted breath that simply fell on deaf ears. It wasn’t worth it, Derek wasn’t going to change. Walking carefully towards the door, Charlie made sure to hold her dress up above the ground slightly so she didn’t trip over the hem. She hated long dresses, she was just too damn short to be in them. As her blue eyes took in the ambiance of the lobby, Charlie once again rubbed her hands over her arms trying to chase away the cold, looking over to see Derek trying to warm himself up also. She let out a small giggle as she watched Derek tug at his collar seeming about as uncomfortable as she was dressing with such airs. It was nice to know that she wasn’t the only one. Making their way, once again in silence, the two walked towards the ballroom. Standing in the doorway to the room that once was nothing more than tables, a bar and a dance floor, a huge smile fell on her lips at what her blue eyes now focused on. Jay and Gary had clearly outdone themselves with the Casino Royale theme. It was like she was about to step into an entirely different world, something right out of the James Bond movie. It wasn’t a neon and glitter party, but it was more than impressive.
Taking a step into the room, Charlie half expected to change with it like she actually had stepped into the movie. She smirked to herself at her silliness. Charlie knew she was a bit odd or at least her thoughts were, no she was odd but she was okay with that. Turning her gaze, Charlie noticed Jay and Gary sitting at the bar, already getting their party started. No big surprise there, they were notorious for knowing how to have a good time. She had been friends with Jay for quite some time, but Gary, well somehow while they were in New York City on the class trip they had become friends. Aside from Derek, Jay and Gary were probably the only other two who had known for sure that Charlie was party of the ‘rich kid crew’. Maybe that’s why they had become friends at least maybe that was why she and Jay had become friends originally, Gary she just wasn’t sure about. Following Derek to the bar, Charlie smiled at the girl Derek addressed. She wasn’t certain who she was, but clearly Derek knew who she was. Her head once again shook at his lack of manners ad her ‘date’ ordered himself a drink without so much as considering to ask her if she wanted one, not that she drank, but it would have been nice if he had remembered to offer. Turning her gaze away from him, Charlie smiled at Kait. They weren’t totally unfamiliar with each other, but of course they had never really socialized either. ”Hi Kait, it’s good to see you. You look amazing.” Charlie tried to remember to leave her totally’s. mylanta’s and oh my God’s back in her dorm along with her Betsey Johnson dresses and her combat boots, two things that defined her as Charlie North, not Charlotte. She wasn’t totally sure how Kait would react to her being there or any of them for that matter, but if she was going to look the part she had to remember to act it as well. Charlie was certain she would surprise a few people tonight.
Smiling, Charlie took a deep breath as she watched Derek retreat to his world of solace on a couch that was clearly far enough away from everyone else. For some reason her nerves were getting the best of her, which was never a good thing. She was notorious for talking a mile a minute once her nerves hit, or she was excited. As she exhaled, Charlie realized that she was acting silly, at least in her head. These people knew who she was and whether they accepted her or not was of no consequence to her. Like Derek she was exactly who she was and she wasn’t about to change that for anyone. Charlie was the luckiest girl in the world to have her friends who loved her and accepted her for just that, she never had to pretend to be anything other than the hyper, sweet, over the top, space invading girl that she was. Most of the people that would be at this party had known her or at least of her for years and they had already formed their opinions of her. Reverting back to the girl she grew up as wasn’t going to change that or make things better, it was just going to make her completely miserable for the remainder of the evening and she was there to have a good time. Charlie could look the part but she wasn’t going to compromise who she was just to fit in. She was Charlie North, take her or leave her just as she was. Brushing her bangs out of her face, tucking them behind her ear, Charlie took a few steps closer to Jay and Gary. ”You guys totally went all out on this. It looks way awesome. I think you may have topped me and my Angel party.” She smirked before taking a step closer to Gary, gently kissing him on the cheek. ”You look very handsome, Gary. Not that I doubted you would look like something right out of a magazine.” Taking another step closer to Jay, Charlie kissed his cheek as well. ”And of course you look equally as handsome. Two peas in a pod.” She smirked. If Charlie hadn’t known better she would have thought that maybe the two of them had a closet thing for each other but she knew better. She spent more than enough time around her Angels who all somehow had boyfriends. Jay and Gary were probably the biggest players she knew and their game was strictly for the ladies. She was just glad that she was never a target or the type of girl they fancied.

Bree had felt bad that since graduating Neil and her had grown apart. He had been one of her closest friends and now they barely saw each other, but she blamed that on school and his job getting in the way. When one had some free time the other always seemed to be busy, so when she heard about this party she couldn't help but clear her schedule so she could be around that night. She had to roll her eyes at the theme though and remembered back when they had their movie date and he made her watch some Bond films. She found it cute that he'd liked them so much, and she even had to admit that there were a few times throughout the movie that she was secretly glued to the television, but she could never tell Neil that or she knew he'd never stop boasting about it. When she read that it'd been semi-formal she looked through her closet for something that she could wear, but all of her dresses fell short for a Bond occassion, so she luckily had a paycheck from Duke's Fitness Center (a job she'd secretly obtained the month prior) so she took the bus into town to buy a dress that could fit the night. She looked through so many, long and short and bold and plain, but nothing really stood out for her, or at least nothing did until she'd found herself drawn to a fancy studded dress. She just had to have it and could imagine showing up looking like a Bond girl herself, and although the price was a bit high she could not pass it up. She went to try it on just to make sure she looked good, and after she saw it fit to perfection (she knew it would) she bought it. She hadn't expected to be going with anyone either, but when she'd ran into a man around campus by the name of Nathaniel all that changed. He introduced himself and she picked up on his last name, and of course the first follow up question had been if he was related to Derek. When she heard that he was Derek's cousin she couldn't help but grin, and that is when the gears started to turn in her head. She introduced herself as a friend of Derek's, made a joke about how she thought so anyway although the man himself would never admit to it, and she asked if he wanted to get to know the other students around the school and invited him to this event. What better way for him to get to know everyone than getting thrown right in the middle of everything? He agreed, something that she had not expected, and soon it was settled that the two would go together. She gave him her number and excitedly went about the rest of her business. The night of the party her and Nathan had been texting back and forth most of the day, and now when she saw him walking in the parking lot towards her she couldn't help but walk over and give him a hug, a force of habit and he turned out to be an awesome guy from when the two talked throughout the week leading up to the party. They had agreed to get a cab only because neither had a car, and renting a limo would just be ridiculous, so since Bree had been first out and waiting she slipped herself into the cab and slid over some so Nathaniel could get in beside her. "I've got a cool group of friends you'll see there tonight, but i'm not sure if Derek's going or not, I haven't really talked to him in a while," she shrugged trying to take him out of her mind for the night, but that would be difficult considering her date's last name happened to be Whitfield. "Thanks for agreeing to come with me tonight, you look gorgeous," she complimented as the taxi pulled up to the hotel. When she was out of the vehicle she walked close beside him up towards the steps, and once there she linked arms with him more for leverage than anything as her heels had to lift her up the stairs. The last thing she needed was to fall and ruin this dress that she'd spent a pretty penny on. When on the top step she hadn't even thought about their arms as she walked into the building right beside him immediately being floored by how amazing it looked once she'd gotten to the ballroom. "You think the birthday boys here yet?" She had a gift card for him since she'd had no idea what to buy for him, so at least she knew he'd get himself something awesome, or at least she hoped he would. "You nervous?" She asked beaming a gorgeous smile in his direction. NOTES. THANK YOU LOTTIE, Bree didn't want to go alone!

Nathan had gone to the ‘rent a tux’ place that very day. He didn’t have enough money himself and his parents certainly wouldn’t lend him the money, he knew that one straight off. At least he wasn’t like the spoilt little rich kids at the school who just got everything handed to him, he really did hate those kids, well a lot of them anyway, some were okay but others just made him want to punch them and that was bad. He didn’t always like getting into fights, but it just happened, it was something that he usually couldn’t really avoid. For the party he had agreed to go with Aubrey Jenkins, he had to admit, she was gorgeous and he was definitely proud of the fact that he had scored a date when he really wasn’t that well known in the school yet, well he wasn’t known at all, considering he hadn’t arrived that long ago. He wasn’t even sure that his own cousin knew of his arrival yet, though he thought that his parents may just have spoken to his....he wouldn’t count on it though, he may have been close with his cousin but he didn’t really think that their parents got on that well. Nathan didn’t know very many people at all, his roommate was a little bit dull, he didn’t know if she was going or not but he didn’t really care either way. He was going to have more fun without her around anyway of course. Nathan wasn’t usually the party going type, at all, but this girl had somehow persuaded him. Maybe it was because he was getting to show up with a complete hottie...either way he was rather looking forward to it secretly. He looked in the mirror once he had When he walked down to the school parking lot to meet Bree, he brought with him a rose, he knew it was lame, but he kind of thought he had to do something nice for her, she had been about the only one to be nice to him around the place so far, so he thought he would do something nice. He hoped she wouldn’t tell anyone though, he didn’t really show his nice side to just anyone, but he thought it would be okay to show it to at least one person, plus she was a beautiful girl, he had to treat her right...it would have been wrong not to. Nathaniel smiled and nodded when she told him about her friends, but when he saw her, he couldn’t seem to take his eyes off her body. um, yeah cool he said coming out of the trance he seemed to be in for a little while. Of course she had lots of friends, she looked like the popular type, Nathaniel had never really had many friends because of his attitude, plus he had just preferred to be alone rather than having to talk to people and make conversation, it would seem boring to most but to him it was fun, and just how he liked to spend most of his time. Oh, um....here he said holding out the rose for her. I thought you might like this. In honesty, he didn’t really care if she liked it or not, he wasn’t just doing it to be nice and charming, he was kind of hoping that she would give him something in return. He didn’t know if she was that type of girl though, of course there were rumours but Nathan wasn’t someone who ever listened to that kind of thing...it was stupid. Oh you haven’t? he asked her when she told him that she hadn’t spoken to his cousin in a while. He didn’t ask her to elaborate on it, if she wanted to go into more detail...if there was something more to it...then she would do. He then nodded Yeah no problem he smiled at her. He had no problem with escorting her there, but he was just a little apprehensive about the other people being there, he wasn’t social and didn’t really want to be. He would at least be nice to her friends though, just to keep her happy at the least. As they walked from the cab over to the hotel, he kept glancing over to her. He smirked slightly when she linked arms with him, he really hoped that he would get some looks of jealousy from the guys in the room when he showed up with her. He knew that a lot of guys just would be jealous of him, there was no doubt about that. He shrugged when asked about ‘the birthday boy’ he didn’t even know him, he was just there for Aubrey and the free food and drinks really. What she said next made him laugh....nervous? He laughed and shook his head. I don’t get nervous, love. Though deep down he really was a little nervous. tagged. partygoers/aubrey words eight hundred and twenty three notes. so I just kind of got carried away there and made it quite long. I don’t think I have written a post as long as that before..~ credits. carolyn's sweet blasphemy *

Kayla looked in the mirror and smiled. Of course a dress was not her usual thing, but the theme had been ‘James Bond’ or whatever, so she kind of wanted to look like the next bond girl or something, she didn’t like the movies, but she knew Neil did. He had gone on about them when she had shared a dorm with him, so she had kind of watched them. Anyway at least she was making an effort, but she wasn’t going to wear a really ‘fancy’ dress, she didn’t own one. She only had a couple of short dresses and skirts, just because when she wore dresses she thought it was good to show of some skin, not too much, just enough to make people notice her, because that was what she liked...she wanted to be noticed...and she couldn’t deny she liked the attention, most of the time. She pretty much played up to it, but didn’t every girl like getting that kind of attention at some point? The other girls she knew well enough did at least and that was what she went by, the others didn’t really matter. She only really knew a few other girls that Bree and Kait well enough, the girls from the teams she was on. Tonight she had asked her sister to curl her hair, since she wanted to do something different with it.
Tonight she was going to the party with Carter. She knew full well that Aidan didn’t like most of the people at the party, even if he didn’t admit it and acted nice around them, she knew him way too well and the fact that she had two guy roommates was not something he liked, but she didn’t care all that much because it wasn’t like there was anything going on, anyway she wasn’t even going to bother asking him to go, because she knew that he would probably go if she wanted him to, and she just did not want him to do it for her, plus she knew that she would have a blast with Carter and at least she would just get to hang with her friends, which she hadn’t really done in that long properly. She had really missed them and she really needed to make more time for them, and that was what she was going to do. The car accident had changed her for the better she believed. She had even let the whole thing with Carter and her sister go. That was better not being mentioned just because she knew Carter and Tim were FINALLY together. She was happy for them, and maybe they should actually thank her sister for being the one that made them finally admit their feelings.
She met Carter out in the parking lot and smiled when she saw him and walked to meet him, giving a hug. Hay! Wow look at you...stud she grinned and nudged him. You know if we weren’t both taken we would make one hell of a hot couple she smiled at him. Cartyla FTW she laughed at how lame that was. WOW that was lame she laughed. So are you ready to go? I had to call a cab because, well I don’t have a car anymore she said looking at the ground, she still thought about the damn accident way too much. Anyway.....it’s here! she pointed over to the black cab now pulling up to them. So thanks for coming with me tonight, I knew Aidan would only go for me, and I didn’t want that to be the reason, plus I knew I’d be getting a hot ‘date if I asked you....and I’d have a blast she smiled. She felt a little nervous even being in the cab, but she wasn’t going to show that, she hated letting people know she was ‘nervous’ or actually worried about stuff. Sometimes she did get nervous though, even if people wouldn’t think it, because after all, she was only human and it was natural for her to feel like that at sometime
They got out of the cab and smiled at him, she placed her hand on his shoulder before they walked in. I know you and Tim are like, together and I don’t want to cause trouble, I mean I am with Aidan right? But I am REALLY trying to avoid someone, just because he’s kinda annoying and an ass at times, and I like the attention from him....that sounds weird but yeah she laughed. Okay lets go she said grabbing his hand, not really planning on doing that, and walked in. She looked around for someone she actually knew and saw Bree with some guy she hadn’t seen before and smiled over at her. Come on, let’s go say hi to Bree, and her hot date she said dragging him over. Hay you! How’s it going? she smiled giving her a small hug and gesturing a smile over at her date. Wow who’s your date, he’s hot she whispered to her with a smile. By the way I love your dress, you look gorgeous.

Raising the martini glass to his lips again he parted his lips about to take in more of the drink but paused as his eyes nearly jumped out of his sockets at the sight of the blonde that was coming towards him, one of his blonde eyebrows shot upward as his pale blue eyes kept darting up and down her body. As she drew nearer he tilted his glass up to hide the shocked expression on his face, the rest of the liquid flowing down his throat in one swallow. Setting the glass on top of the bar Gary’s head turned in her direction as he listened to her speak, the corners of his lips twisting up and his lips giving way to show off a perfectly white smile. ”Thank you, I do what I can…are we…” He used his index finger to motion between the two of them as he paused, the smile on his face not faltering. ”…have we met before? I can’t seem to recall if we have.” Out of the corner of his eye he saw the bartender move to refill his glass, but before he picked it back up he reached out and took her hand in his. ”In case we haven’t. I’m Garritt Cromwell, but Gary is more than fine.” Keeping his eyes locked on hers he brought her hand up near his lips and brushed them against the top of her hand before letting her hand slip out of his. The same hand taking hold of his refilled glass, reluctantly turning partially in his seat to look at Jay.
His head rose and then fell, his tongue darted out of his mouth to run along his bottom lip, his eyes darting over to the blonde that was still standing near him. Gary started to shake with laughter as he leaned back in his seat, his boisterous laughter finally escaping his lips. ”It is a James Bond party bro, I thought I’d get into it.” Still shaking a bit with laughter he held his hand, his thumb and fore finger in the shape of a gun. ”Blonde, Gary Blonde.” Sending himself into a fit of laughter again at his own bad joke, Gary waited until his laughter started to die out before he held up the glass in his hand as toast to those around before taking a quick sip and setting it back down on the napkin it’d been resting on. There was a blur of blonde and red in his vision as he swiveled on his chair to once again get a look at the door, his eyes widening as he caught sight of the odd couple that had just walked in; his mouth hung open and he could just sit there blinking unsure of what he was seeing. Gary’s hand waved in front of Jay’s face as if to silence him, he didn’t know any more than Gary did when Neil was getting there and so thought such questions were pointless. All the sudden Darius, Charlotte, and Kaitlyn all showed up and all he could do at first was glance between the three and watch the awkward exchange between each of them, his hand rose up to his mouth to hide the smile that was trying to take over his face.
”Well hello to you all too.” he slid off his seat, pulling both the girls into separate hugs. The suddenly talking about clothing had him rolling his eyes and sighing heavily, they always seemed to talk about fashion. ”Well that would be my cue to exit, but I probably will talk to each of you later…so don’t worry about missing me toooo much.” Waggling his eyebrows as he lifted his drink up, he flashed them all a broad grin before turning on his heel and spotting more people wondering in. Trying to sneak his way over he tried to slip in next to Kayla, resting his arm on her shoulder as he leaned against her for support so he wouldn’t fall over. ”You’re finally here now I can lean and look all cool…and…” His eyes fell on Carter first, his eyebrow shot up as his lips tightened together. His blue eyes darting between Kayla and Carter, he was definitely confused at why they were together and glancing at the guy next to Aubrey his brows knit together the crease in between them deepening. ”You girls sure like to switch things up…but it’s cool I do that all the time…I mean me no…” Gary’s sentence trailed off as he finally stopped leaning on Kayla and stood on his own two feet, glancing around he caught sight of Derek looking over at them and his eyes were suddenly darting between him and the new guy. Shaking his head he Gary gave up and let out a heavy sigh, ”well I feel I should just ask. You and Darius…are you by chance related?” His eyes were trained on his index finger that was running around the rim of his glass.

Carter had debated all day about what he should wear, but in the end he settled for the elegant suit that still gave him a bit of comfort. He opted out from the tie just because he'd end up taking it off anyway, but he thought he still pulled semi-formal off, or at least he damn well better because he wasn't about to change. He had told Kayla that he'd meet her in the parking lot so the two could take a cab, and although she insisted on being the one to pay he knew he couldn't let her do that. He slipped out of the room before Timothy came around and headed towards outside. Finding Kayla had been easy as he took in her dress as he reached her finally, and he easily scooped her into a hug giving her a kiss on the cheek, "I know, i'm looking damn good tonight huh?" He popped his suits collar before smoothing it back down quickly grinning, "I guess it doesn't hurt that I have a hot date tonight." She did look smashing and Aidan was surely a lucky man. "Cartyla? What in the world are you talking about?" He burst out laughing as he nodded, "We'd be one hot duo," not that he found himself all that attractive most of the time, but if she did then he figured that's all that mattered. "I wouldn't be out here if I wasn't ready," he smirked teasing her as she asked the question, a chuckle rolling from his lips as he wrapped his arm around her shoulder pulling her in close as he turned towards the cab, "car's are overrated, and plus the best people have escorts, look at me for example," he puffed out his chest trying to look important, but he knew that was en epic fail. He was not escorted around because he was important. He was escorted because he'd been too lazy and unmotivated to take the course and get his permit and take his driving test. He could tell as she looked at the vehicle she was somewhat uneasy, so it was his job to keep her as calm and comfortable as possible. "He's missing out," was all he said when Aidan was mentioned. He knew that he would have went for Kayla if she'd asked him too, just like he might have been able to persuade Tim to come along had he begged enough, but why bring along two people that wouldn't want to be there? It didn't make sense, so them hooking up as dates for the night just seemed to be the smart option. He tried to keep the conversation up while they were in the cab, so from the time it took to go from the school to hotel he'd probably given her some of the dumbest stories. That was what he was good at though, and usually people laughed at how fun lame they were. He was thankful when they reached their destination though and he opened the door stepping out and leaning down to help her out, and once out he gladly took her hand and let her lead him into the building. "Messing things up? What're you talking about, you're not going to mess anything up by coming here with me tonight," the whole idea was funny. The only person that might get pissed was Aidan, but that was only because Timothy knew that Carter loved him more than anything. He heard the explanation about the other man and just grinned, "so are you telling me that I should lay it on thick around you tonight? Something like this?" He stopped her dead in her tracks right as they reached the ballroom and in the door where everyone that was watching could see he turned her towards him as he kissed her forehead, the lips being off limits for the both of them. "I can both push him away and make him jealous at the same time, just say the word and I can make it go either way." He had no idea who she was talking about, so as he stood there he scoped out the room playing the game of finding the mystery person. He heard her say something about Bree and just laughed as she tugged him along in the direction of her friend, and once there he just stood beside her quickly looking around still in his game. He did wave somewhat at Bree and the man that she'd been with, but his attention was far from this group, but as Garritt came over Carter paid attention once more. He was giving Kayla attention, did that mean that he was the one she wanted Carter to watch out for? "It's looking good in here tonight, nice job," he knew that Garritt had been one to set this all up so he had to give his kudos. He leaned over and bumped Kayla against her arm just to let her know he was still there if she needed him, but from her body language he didn't think that Garritt was who she was hiding from.

“I believe I have seen you around, but I don't think official introductions have ever been made.” Caleigh replied smiling at Garritt as he motioned between them. “Enchanté, monsieur Cromwell. I’m Caleigh Marceaux, but Cal is perfectly fine too.” She replied introducing herself and couldn’t help the slight blush in her face when Gary reached to kiss the back of her hand.
Caleigh turned her a little hearing someone coming into the ballroom, however she couldn’t help but feel the slight bit of jealously inside her seeing that Derek had decided to show up to this party with another girl, part of her really should have known but she kept her composure perfectly. It felt like a spark of electricity running through her though when he came sidling up to the bar and purposely brushed up against her making her turn her towards him and offer a bright smile. At his words though she completely sure how to take them, if it was merely as a simple small talk comment or if he was perhaps trying to egg her on in some sort of way, either way she wasn’t going to let it bother her, at least not now anyways. "Of course I—" Caleigh started although was immediately cut off when Derek abruptly turned his back on her and she let out a little sigh rolling her eyes, wouldn’t be the first time he came to initiate conversation only to abruptly ignore within five seconds flat.
Taking a sip from the neon green liquid in her martini glass Caleigh glanced up seeing a blonde girl coming over. Caleigh greeted Kait with a genuine soft smile when the girl introduced herself and then commented on what she was wearing. “Oh thank you so much, you’re so kind! I actually had found it back at a place in Paris a little while back.” she replied. “I’m Caleigh, but honestly I really do love that little black dress of yours and those earrings, they’re certainly fitting for the evening.” She added smiling. Caleigh’s gaze moved for a moment noticing Derek had gone off to sit by himself over on one of the empty couches, she would maybe go over and see him but in a bit.
The young French blonde smiled a bit seeing the girl who had arrived with Derek greet Gary and Jay in such a way. Well she certainly seemed pretty nice, so she really couldn’t be all that bad. She was sure she had seen the girl around at school but definitely in something a little bit more vibrant that just screamed originality. Honestly though Caleigh thought the girl looked truly beautiful dolled up like some movie glamazon or in the bright and colourful short dresses she wore around school. “Chéri, I really just wanted to say I love the colour of your dress, the gold looks so beautiful on you.” Caleigh commented quietly to Charlie coming up next to her. wordcount --- 492 music --- silent outfit --- here! tag --- party people

The rose had been unexpected, but she still accepted it with a grin as it had truly been beautiful. She wasn't much of a flower kind of person, but it was still a thoughtful gesture that she couldn't ignore. It was nice to see that the Whitfield men could do such gestures, and she hoped that this behavior would rub off on Derek with all the time she seemed to be spending with him. The worst part about it had been that their time together wasn't even planned, most of the time her and Derek would just bump into each other or something, and from there they'd end up spending a while together. "Thank you, this is beautiful, and you're looking very handsome tonight," she went and absentmindedly smoothed his collar out before she got into the cab.
"He's not all that talkative around here," she shrugged it off like it was no big deal when he made the questionable comment. "Maybe he's just hiding from me so he can keep up that brute solo act a little while longer, I swear that man worries too much about his image, and it's almost like he's afraid people might see him as a decent person," okay so he wasn't a decent person, not to most people, but Bree had seen a spark of hope when the two were around each other. He could be nice enough when he wanted to be, but it seemed each time he was nice to her it'd be followed by a rude remark just to try to scare her off. Finding stuff to chat about on the way there wasn't all that hard, especially once they'd gotten off the topic of Derek, but she wanted to form at least the base friendship before she started asking this and that. He seemed an alright guy though and she wouldn't mind actually getting to know him more than just for the inside scoop of his cousin, but for now that had been her main intention.
She had found that the mans company wasn't all that bad, and as she walked into the hotel she was feeling much better about the situation. Hearing his staggering confidence she just grinned, "that is such a Whitfield thing to say," she wasn't sure if that was a compliment though with Nathaniel. She was only used to one Whitfield so having two was going to be an adjustment, but Nathaniel being cute made it that much easier. She wasn't sure where they should go first, either the bar that seemed to fill up already, or she could go around and mingle with the other guests. She wondered who else had been there so she looked around, and that's when she saw Derek sitting on the couch. What the hell was he doing there? She tried to think and that's when it clicked, the two worked together so of course he'd be invited. She gave him a soft smile but was thankful for the distraction that came from Kayla as she could hear her friend next to her. "Heyyy!" she grinned as she returned the hug, and when she heard what Kayla whispered she just laughed looking over at Nathaniel. "Kayla, Carter, this is Nathaniel Whitfield," she emphasized on his last name so Kayla would understand it to be Derek's relative.
She was confused though as she looked from Kayla to Carter, "so where did Aidan end up tonight? Or Tim for that matter? You're looking good tonight though, both of you, thank god you're here." She paused before adding, "Thanks, this cost almost a whole weeks pay, how sad is that?" She did not mind though, she loved it, and it was cool to see Kayla just as stunning. That is when Garritt came over leaning against Kayla for that moment, and Bree was confused by the switching things up comment, but she stayed silent not really being bothered. When he asked the question to Nathan though she couldn't help but steal a quick glance in Derek's direction just to see what he was doing, or who he was looking at more importantly.

Merrick stepped into the ballroom that had been turned into a casino straight out of a Bond movie and she just had to laugh. She had never been too much of a fan of him, but from the sound of things this Neil person had been a diehard fan. She hadn't known who he was, but when someone brought up the idea of her entertaining she could not say no, and the fact that some money was coming out of it was another reason she jumped at the chance. The theme was a bit tasteless to her because she'd came from Vegas, so the makeshift casino had never been anything close to a real one. She thought about what it would have gotten to get her dad to rent them out the casino for a night right in Jacksonville, but with them being underaged she knew it would never happen, so for their space and resources these kids at least pulled it off. Taking money from them was going to be as easy as candy from a baby, she knew that much, so again she added that to the list of pro's for doing this gig tonight. She lugged her suitcase behind her and soon was escorted by an attendant to a nearby room where she could put everything she needed. She thanked them and dragged it into the room since the party was just getting started and her services were not needed yet. She could walk around and do some small things here and there, but to really get into it she'd need more of a crowd than this. She checked the full length mirror in the room to make sure she still looked good, and after she fixed her hair she walked out and into the main ballroom where everyone had been. She looked around at the groups that were already forming, but she hadn't known any of them so she just continued about her business heading to the bar. The first thing she'd need to start this night off was a drink. "Absolute Cranberry," she told the bartender when she had gotten their attention, and soon she watched as the vodka was being poured in a glass to start things off. "Don't overdue the cranberry, just a smidge, enough to stain it." She wouldn't have any in her glass if it hadn't been for everyone always looking at her weird as she shot down straight vodka. She inspected the drink as it was given to her and grinned at the bartender, "you're going to be one of my favorite people here tonight," she smirked as she took a drink to make sure the cranberry hadn't overpowered her glass. It had turned out perfect as she gave the bartender a thumbs up turning to face the crowd as she leaned against the bar. She noticed that Nathaniel kid she had met the other day with a group of people and just smiled, sure didn't take long for that kid to make friends with the popular crowd, but for the most part her gaze wasn't fixed on a single person for too long. Let the games begin, she told herself as she tried to find someone that was worth talking to, but everyone seemed preoccupied with someone else, and the one male that was alone was entirely too far from the bar for her to make that journey so soon, so instead she just stayed where she was and waited for something, or someone for that matter, to entertain her. NOTES. this is super lame but she has nobody to talk to so I couldn't do too much (especially since the night is just starting). Someone should entertain her for now!
