First day on the job, it was only natural to be nervous, right? Maybe a little nervous, but to the extent that Abby was of the morning of her very first day at Jackson High was not normal, well she didn't think so anyway. She could have puked, if it wasn't for the toast that she decided to eat before leaving, maybe it saved her life and her career. She was a somewhat shy girl and she was about to face a room full of teens that she had never seen in her life, and a bunch of people who had been working there for much longer than she had even been in the state. She had made sure that she looked her best today, a good impression was always the one that she wanted to make, and she assumed that other people were like that too, well most other people anyway. She really hoped that she wouldn't come across as snobby or anything with what she was wearing, she had tried her best to look good but also like any normal person.
She was slow to get out of her car once she was parked on a space that she thought would be rather useful in the afternoon when she went to leave, quick and easy she thought. We'd just have to wait and see what the day brought her, then she'd know what it was like to teach at a high school. Abigail was pretty much fresh out of university, she was a newbie at all this sort of thing. She'd been to the school before, as a kind of orientation thing, it didn't seem too bad, the kids seemed, well, normal and somewhat nice-ish. But then again, she didn't have much contact with the students when she was there last, it was mostly during class and a little through lunch time, but she didn't have contact with them. This was going to be the very first time that she had actually talked to a student and all that. The nerves were almost too much for her, but she was strong, so she would be just fine and get through it just like it was any other day.
Abby had five classes on this day, it was a full work load on the very first day. Her first class was a bunch of seniors, they were all rather nice and treated her with respect and kindness. But the few after that weren't so much, they were the younger grades and well let's just say that she could have strangled some of the students. Her last class was one that she was looking forward to, she didn't completely know why, but it probably had something to do with it being an older group of students, they always seemed to be much more respectful and helpful with her all day.
She arrived at her classroom fifteen minutes early, just so she could make sure that she had everything organised and such, though it was always her luck to have missed something and have to excuse herself to the class for not being organised. But this time she was sure that she was perfectly organised and that she would be fine. Sitting in her teacher's chair behind her desk, she waited for the first bell to ring, it wasn't a long wait, not even five minutes after she had fussed around and made sure everything was fine. A few students came in and sat down, then some more and some more. Then the second bell rang and she got up and walked to the front of the desk, sitting on the corner and facing the student. "Hi." She spoke with a soft voice that was only natural to her. "I'm - uh - miss Hamilton, but please call me Abby, the whole formality bothers me." She shook her head softly, her hair moving from side to side as she did so, with a small smile on her face. She only hoped that the class didn't think she was stupid or idiotic in any way.
notes; bleh! it could be better, but i hope you like it =) this is tagged for timmy and she is wearing this beautiful thing here!

For once in his life, Tim was running late. Actually, this wasn't quite true, as Tim was usually running late and usually managed to slide into class just before the final bell. Today, however, he'd slept straight through his alarm, and none of his three dorm mates had seen fit to wake him. He only managed to wolf down a bowl of cheerios and brush his teeth before sprinting off to his first class: English. Apparently they had some sort of new teacher, which would either be extremely good or extremely bad depending on whether or not he or she were a fire-breathing dragon. He certainly hoped they would be one of those cool, chill teachers who would give in to sweet talking, but he could never be sure. So, he made a realistic effort in arriving on time. However, the second bell had already gone before he entered the school, and the hallways were conspicuously empty. So much for making a good first impression.
Painfully aware of his sneakers squeaking with every step, Tim tried to make his way quietly down the hall, catching his breath in the process. He hadn't even had a chance to deal with his hair that morning; he probably looked like some sort of blue-eyed, freckle-faced lion by now. At least he'd remembered his school supplies. That would count for something, right? And he would promise to never, ever be late again. And he would make good on that promise. Maybe. Hopefully. Probably not. Eyes wide with uncertainty, Tim bit his lip, quickening his pace. As he neared the classroom, he ran a hand through his hair, hoping to calm it down a little. As if that trick had ever worked before. Taking one final breath, he pulled open the door, stepping quietly through and pulling it closed behind him. Unfortunately, the teacher had already begun speaking, and there was no way he would be able to sneak to his seat and pretend like nothing had ever happened.
Figuring apologies were in order, Tim looked up. However, the words froze on his tongue, and his sheepish expression transformed into one of pleasant surprise. "Abby?" he grinned, stepping forward almost without meaning to. It occurred to him that the entire class was now gazing at him awkwardly, and he felt his face begin to turn red. "I um - I know her," he explained quickly, moving toward an empty seat, "from New York. She's cool." He sat down, arranging his things and trying to act casual. He had to admit, though: he was excited to see her standing up at the front of the room. Not only did this mean he now possessed the friend-of-a-teacher advantage, he also had the chance to see an old friend again. All in all, it was turning out to be a fairly good day.
ooc haha, my post isn't really quality but it'll get better P:

She was so sure that all her students were there, though she couldn't be too sure since this was her very first time teaching the class. But there was just something about the feel of the class that made her think that way, but then she hadn't really taught a class before, not on her own anyway, she had some experience teaching, but it was more like work experience and she was just there to observe and help out when needed. And because of this, she had began the lesson, after introducing herself, she began talking about what they were going to be learning over the next week or so. She was getting mixed reactions, some of her students seemed to like her, but that could have just been an act and they may have been going to say some awful things about their new English teacher once they were out of class. And there were others who just made it obvious that they didn't want to be there.
As she was talking to her class, she noticed the door open and a student enter the room, Abby only assumed that he was trying to sneak in. She stopped talking immediately and her eyes fell on the boy as he looked up, to say something maybe, and then she almost froze. She had come to Jacksonville with the idea that she wasn't going to know anyone and there was going to be next to no support for her. But now, there standing right in front of her was someone that she knew, and someone that she knew would help her out. Abby almost laughed when he said her name, and then noticed that the whole class was staring at him. But she was able to keep it in and be somewhat serious. And by being somewhat serious, she sat there on the edge of her desk with a sweet smile on her face and said nothing. She was just happy that there was someone there that she recognised, it was an amazing feeling.
Abby went along with the class, teaching to the best of her ability, trying her best to make the lesson as fun as she could. And then the bell rang, she smiled and said bye to her students, and then focused on Tim. "Timmy." She smiled at him and beckoned him over with a quick hand movement.

Glad to be out of the spotlight, Tim relaxed, pulling out some pens and going along with the lesson. It wasn't hard to see that Abby was nervous, but she was doing a great job, and he figured it was safe to say she was an awesome teacher. When the bell rang, he began to gather up his stuff, nodding to a few of his classmates but more eager to greet his old friend properly. At the sound of his name, he looked up, grinning widely and hurrying up to the front of the class. "Hey!" he exclaimed, a sly expression forming on his face, "are you going to reprimand me for being late, Ms. Hamilton?" He almost managed to keep a straight face, though his eyes revealed his amusement. He still couldn't believe she was actually teaching at his school. Dropping the bad student act, he leaned back against one of the desks at the front of the room, looking impressed. "Didn't you just finish school recently? It's awesome you've already got a job.... I'm not too surprised, though." He raised an eyebrow, obviously implying that she was awesome.
ooc AHH. SHORT. But I didn't want to make too many things happen all at once. I promise my next post will be more quality D: (yes, it's really short. If you need more to work with, let me know. Oh dear)

Abby put on a sweet smile as her old friend made his way over to her. She was so surprised at the wonderful coincidence, what were the chances of her first real job after college being at the same school as someone from her past, let alone teacher that very person's class. Second to none she thought, so when she had first seen him enter that room, it took almost all her power to not erupt into a fit of oh my god's and get excited. She thought she did a damn good job of it too. But now there was no-one else here, all her students had left, because let's face it, no-one wants to hang in the room after the bell rings. But now she didn't feel the need to be excited about the situation, don't get me wrong, she was excited, but she had just finished teaching a class and had to regain that enthusiasm to do other things.
"Hey you." She spoke, tucking a few loose strands of hair behind her ear and moving around her desk so that she was on the same side as he was. "Haven't quite decided yet." Abigail smirked a little and folded her arms over her chest, in a way to make it seem like she was half serious while looking through half closed eyes. She changed her position once more, this time quickly clearing a space on the desk and sitting on it, crossing one leg over the other. Sighing softly she spoke again, answering Tim's question. "Finished college not too long ago." She mirrored his eyebrow raising and letting out a small laugh. "Well, I am just that good." She laughed again, finishing with a small sigh and running a hand through her hair. "So," she said with a slight pause. "How's life been treating you?" Catch up time, the time to find out what's been going on in each others lives since they saw each other last.

Tim grinned back at Abby, hearing the last student shuffle out of the room. Briefly, he wondered if it could be considered weird for him to know her, but pushed the thought aside. Other students were quite close to some of their teachers, and he was sure that most of his classmates would soon realize how brilliant Abby was. Hopefully, she wouldn't encounter any of the especially rude kids in the school. He smirked as she crossed her arms and squinted at him, but tried to look at least a little bit frightened. "Please don't give me detention. I have a life to live, you know." As he spoke, he gestured toward the door, indicating that the rest of the world waited impatiently for him. He was trying to be dramatic, of course. At the moment, he didn't mind spending his time in the classroom.
When she responded to his question, Tim nodded. "Was this your first class here?" he asked, turning to look back at the empty desks as if imagining standing up in front of all those students. He had considered going into teaching, at one point, but it hadn't been a lasting ambition. After all, his mother was a teacher, and had managed to frighten him out of following in her footsteps. Besides, Tim didn't really want to spend the rest of his life in schools. Abby, though, seemed to have a natural talent, and he was certain she would be just fine. "What other grades do you have? Any freshmen?" he grinned menacingly. Sure, freshmen were all right, but they were completely clueless. Well, not completely. It was just fun to judge them.
When she asked the classic catching-up question, Tim pulled himself fully onto the desk, leaning back on his hands and swinging his legs slightly. "Not too bad. Just getting ready for the final stretch... you know, only three months until graduation!" he grinned widely, eager to take on the world. "Oh, Becky goes here, too, by the way. I'll get her to drop by sometime and say hey. And Mel's in town!" Tim paused, then shook his head. He still couldn't believe both of his sisters had managed to follow him to Jacksonville. "And Carter... you know Carter, right? My best friend, practically one of the family... yeah, he goes here, as well. We should have a New York reunion party or something." That would probably be more awkward than anything, actually. Because everything Tim did was awkward.
ooc sorry for the wait P: BUT MY POST IS HERE NOW! Woop.

A slight smirk came to Abby's lips, "a life? Pfft. Well consider that gone." she spoke in a slightly stern tone, but still had enough fun in it to show Tim that she was only having some fun with him. "You are taking me out for coffee as your punishment, and are going to listen to me ramble about me and my life over the past few years." The brunette smiled when she finished and let out a small laugh. "And believe me, I won't leave any detail out, unless I can't remember it." She tapped her head softly as she said the last few words and put a silly sort of look on her face as she looked at her old friend.
This was pretty much her first class at Jackson High. She had been there before, for a little tour and for some introductions to some of the people that she was going to need to know during her time here, such as the other English teachers, and the office workers, as well as one of the cleaners and the higher up staff, as well as the groundskeeper, who was slightly creepy at first, but somehow got through to her after a rather short chat. She had met him in the car park when she was about to head off home after her orientation, that was what she was calling it anyway, because well, that was what it was in a way. "Yeah, pretty much. I've been here before," she ran a hand through her hair as she spoke, "but it was just for some sort of orientation thing." Abby shrugged slightly with her last few words. "It's not so bad here," another shrug and a quick, small glance around the room for no reason at all. "Or are people just making an attempt at throwing some good impressions at me?" She asked, half closing one eye for the exaggerated questioning look.
An instant look of thought came to her face, "uh - I think there's some freshman class or classes in there somewhere." She glanced down at her schedule that was sitting on her desk to her right. "I think I've got at least one class from each grade, don't know if I should be excited or not." She let herself slide down off the table so that she was now standing on her two feet, completely supporting herself. Taking a few steps toward Timmy, she spoke. "You should give me a heads up on who the real trouble makers are." Abby gave him a small nod after she spoke, exaggeration the fact that she thought that it was a pretty good idea. "Y'know, just tell me who to look out for, who to be wary of in my classes." She laughed softly to herself after she spoke, all she wanted was to be a good teacher, loved by most of her students if not all of them.
She almost gasped, "Oh god. You're leaving me soon?!" It was more of a statement and a joke than anything remotely serious and questioning. "That just not fair." She huffed a little, then let out a small chuckle. "Oh wow! Did everyone just decide that Jacksonville would be a great place to live now or something?" The brunette laughed a little. "Carter..?" She dragged out the name slightly as she thought about who that was. "Ah yes, Carter, well I'm pretty sure I know who you're talking about." She chucked again about this. Honestly, she thought that some sort of reunion party would be awesome. "Ha, a reunion party? That's be awesome, I think so anyway." She smiled and shifted her weight onto her other leg as she stood.
