His mostly-blue eyes have a tint of grayand a bit of green in them, turning them to a mixture of the three colors. Because of so his eyes aren't a certain color but would probably be labeled blue, if he had to choose one color. His head is full of of dark brown hair, that at some points can look more like black then brown. Of which is very choppy and usually in that messy-yet-hot style.
The half-smirk so many "bad boys" wear these days is constintly displayed on his perfectly modeled face, which is another way to say his bone strutcure is quite lovely. And his actual smile, which is rarely seen, is breath-taking. Needless to say that this boy is a looker, no doubt about it.
personality: There is a new theroy out there that claims you can only have one thing: a good personality or good looks. And, Sterling, proves that theory right.
He is arrogant, cruel, sarcastic, rebellious, never-commited, and well...a dick. He wasn't always so bad, but then again, he wasn't always so hurt. That's right Sterling is hurt, day and night, morning and evening, all the time. He tries to bury the feeling but it is always there, lurking in the back of his heart.
Yes, Sterling is the way he is because of a broken heart, but isn't it that way it always is. You become heartless from having your heart shattered? Maybe that's just in soap operas and teen drama shows that usually involves vampires or werewolves, but it happened to Sterling.
The story is a cliche one, but it's true all the same:
He and Jacqueline had been best friends since Jackie was born, since their mothers had been best friends since junior high. When he was only seven he fell in love with her, of course it was more of a little kid "love" than it was true love but it did become true love. They were always together; playfully fighting, palying endless games of Monoply, throwing around a football, racing, climbing trees. Everything and anything they did was together. And the more time they spent in each others company, the more he fell for her.
Now he wasn't always this gorgeous, in fact, he didn't actually get his good looks until the age of sixteen. But with those bad looks, he was a good guy. Generous, sweet, still saracstic, and a bit obsessed with Call of Duty and Halo. Then his heart was brought to pieces, and it all changed.
Jackie and him had planned to go to the junior high dance together, as friends but then Jackie's crush asked her the day before and she had dissmissed Sterling to go with him. It actually wasn't that bad, she didn't want to drop Sterling to go with the other boy but Sterling practically forced her to, knowing she would be happier that way.
From there on it just got worse and worse, more boys started to realize how beautiful his little Jackie was and it felt like they took her from him. It wasn't just Jackie that twisted his personality though, his Dad lost a battle with cancer, and he got bullied daily. All of that brought him down. He didn't act as if anything was different, that he was sinking lower and lower each day until one day it just broke for him.
He was a sophomore at the time, and Jackie was in eighth grade. Nothing big happened that day, but it just all fell apart; all the broken pieces he was desperatly trying to hold together jsut shattered. He couldn't deal with all the pain anymore, so his fight-or-flight insitnct kicked in. And since fighting it didn't seem to improve anything, he gave into the flight choice.
He wrote his mom a good-bye letter and...left. He never stayed in one place for too long, hopped from town to town and only stayed in one for the most at two weeks. He would pick up a job, and didn't go to school, which didn't really matter considering that he used to be a nerd and was being taught at the senior level instead of what the average sophomore would learn.
His new attitude was born, and he became who he is now...a prick. Buried deep inside he still is a sweet and generous boy, but it's buried way to deep to actually see. It's buried so deep he can't even tell it's there anymore.
His latest city is Jacksonville, but he decided to settle here, to "build a life". Actually he just got tired of moving around, and it was getting to expensive to go wherever he wished, especially since it was now impossible to just pick up a job wherever he went. So, citizens of Jacksonville, get ready for Sterling, he isn't the easiest to deal with. Especially when he realizes his little Jackie is here.
likes:

The shrill ringing echoing from her alarm clock caused Kat’s eyelids to flutter open. She had made sure to place the alarm clock as close to her head as possible, that way she could turn it down as not to wake Derek. For Kat remembered how easy he was to wake. Which was the reason the alarm clock was propped up on the pillow Kat had slept on. She could have sworn she bumped her head into it a couple of times during the night, signs of that being her forehead felt sore and when she brought her hand up to it she felt something like a slight bump. I have to figure out some other way to wake up without waking up Derek, Kate thought once she realized how insane it was that she had to suffer multiple head injuries just to wake up in time for her morning jog.
Even though she wasn’t much of a morning person she still made a tradition of waking up early enough to jog before the sun was completely up. It was always nicer to run when it was still slightly cool and breezes of the night still dwindled in the air, then in the searing heat brought down by the unrelenting sun. Kate grasped the metal handle connected to one of the dresser drawers and gave it a soft yank; an action that caused the drawer to open and the clothes inside to be exposed to Kat’s searching gaze. Inside was two pairs of running shorts, and one fitness shirt, of which she already had to wash three times just because she hadn’t bothered to pack more than one. It’s not as if she planned to stay in Jacksonville after the graduation and all. But when she got here, he didn’t have any sort of urge to go back, therefore she decided to extend the visit a bit. She needed new, something different. And besides, she had missed her old best friend and was glad she got to spend more time with him. Even if it meant she had to use the same exercise shirt, again and again. I’ll just have to tell Derek to drive me into town later so I can get another one, she figured as she stripped of her sleeping attire and pulled on the over-used shirt and her solid black pair of shorts.
Quickly, she made her way to the bathroom where she washed her face, brushed her teeth, and ran a brush through her soft dark waves of hair before pulling it up into a sleek pony tail. She grabbed her pair of tennis shoes placed right by the door, and another though occurred to her: she only had one pair of sneakers with her. One pair of flats, one pair of high heels – which she only brought because Derek’s mom had talked her into dressing up for Derek’s “big graduation day”- and the sole pair of sneakers. It seemed like enough, for now, but soon she would run these down, since already they were pretty holey, and would need a new pair. The more she thought about it the less prepared for staying she felt. And she hadn’t prepared for staying longer, sure, she had kind of let her mind wander to what might happen if she decided to stay for a lengthier “vacation” but never did she think she might actually do it.
Yet here she was, slipping on her tennis shoes in front of Derek’s door. And it was already four days since his family left, originally planning to take her with them, but they changed their minds once it looked like Kat wouldn’t leave no matter what. She thought she would think more about it, staying longer and all, but her mind kept on avoiding the topic. Truthfully, she wanted to stay forever but she didn’t know how that might work out. Also, how was she supposed to tell D? Would he be happy, or kind of agitated? I guess I’ll find out later, she thought to herself, then shrugged before going to the kitchen and searching his drawers for some sort of thing to write on. She would just have to talk about the details on her staying for who-knows-how-long with D, later.
After a minute of quiet shuffling, still trying desperately not to awake Derek, she discovered a stack of blue sticky notes. Peeling one off the top, she took the pen that had been laying right next to the stack of notes, and scribbled out a simple message: “Went out for a jog. Be back soon. Love – Kat.” She was tempted to stick the note on his forehead, mostly just because it would be funny for him to wake and find a sticky note on his face but lso just because she was slightly worried he wouldn’t see it if she put it else ware and wouldn’t know where she went. Unfortunately, Kat knew that idea wouldn’t be much of help considering it would only backfire on her when she tried to stick the note to his head and he woke up. Then what would all the trying-to-not-wake-him-up things she had done would go down the drain, and be a useless waste of time. Reluctantly, she just smacked it on the fridge, knowing he would probably go their first if he woke up while she was gone.
Once Katherine slipped out the door, and went on with jogging, a slight gust of breeze flew through the window causing the sticky note to fall of the refrigerator and onto the ground, where it would be less noticeable. After what seemed to be a little over a half hour, Kat returned, a smile broad on her face. She couldn’t help but to love that feeling of adrenaline pumping through your body as you run. It was just so…enlightening.
The aroma of pancakes and syrup met her nose as soon as she walked through the door. It smelt so good she couldn’t help but lick her lips, especially once her line of sight found the mountain of pancakes Derek had most likely made. Well, either Derek made them or the tooth fairy had magically became real and decided her job was now to treat random people to pancakes because fetching young children’s teeth just wasn’t good enough for her. But Kat thought that was a bit of a farfetched thought.
”Look who came back in time for breakfast.”Kat smiled back knowing that this conversation was somehow, someway going to lead to a bit of teasing. After all, it was D she was talking about here. “I’ve always been good at timing things, haven’t I?” Kat laughed slightly knowing that even though she didn’t have the worst timing of all the people in the world, she sure didn’t have the best. She watched as Derek turned his attention back to his syrup bottle, of which was being held over the pancakes dousing them in the sticky liquid, then back to her. ”The delicious smell of my cooking led you back home didn’t it?”
“It must’ve been because it sure wasn’t your “delicious” looks.” Kat and Derek both knew perfectly well that he wasn’t bad-looking in the slightest, but honestly, that didn’t mean anything to Kat. He was like a brother to her and the only thing she really liked about his handsome features was that she could tease him about looking bad, because obviously he did not. She watched in desire as he ate his first bite of pancakes. Those really did look so good. ”Here kitty kitty, come get some tasty pancakes before I decide to eat them all.” Kitty kitty. He knew that name irked her, as well as being ordered about, but she would just have time to get him back for it later. Right now, she just wanted a pancake not as drenched in syrup as Derek’s though, in her mouth. “Yes, Derek the Doggy, I’m coming.” She laughed, and ruffled his hair as she past by him, knowing it would probably annoy him. She took a plate from one of the cupboards, a fork and a butter knife from one of the drawers, and then helped herself to three pancakes. All before sitting herself down, across the table from Derek.
“So how was your night?” She asked mock politely before dabbing some syrup on her pancakes, and then stabbing her fork into a piece of one, bringing it up to her mouth but not eating it until he answered.
